"Thank you, Joan," Stephen then picked it up and read to the sender. It was from his Top surveyor, who was in charge of a group in the Simpson desert, sent three days ago. He was wondering why he was hearing from him now. He opened the envelope and read, looking at the photos that had fallen on his desk. He quickly picked up the phone. "Joan! Please get me the prime minister?" he said as he looked at another photo. "Cancel that! Where is he?" after getting the answer, he gathered everything and headed out the door.

HMS Starfleet

Chapter 3

Admiral Kevin Manolis Quarters

HMAS Albatross

Garden Island, Sydney Australia

The following day

Admiral of the Fleet Kevin Manolis had spent the last four days on board the Albatross inspecting the ship's aircraft launching ideas, including the ship's crew as they went through their daily work. He had nothing but an excellent report for the days he was on board. Kevin now sat in his room sipping a class of the captain's finest drop, Relaxing and thinking about getting home and seeing his family before the next assignment. A Stewart knocked on the hatch, "Come," and he walked in and handed him a radio dispatch. After he read it and placed it into his pocket, "Captain, I have orders to see the Prime minister. Will you excuse me?" He left the ship for Canberra.

Field Marshal Peter Blanes

Holsworthy Army base

The Field Marshal had just climbed out of his army transport and was heading inside his assigned house on base when a car came up to him, and the driver gave him a telegram. "Sir! This came for you and your wife," he read it,

"Get a car here in thirty minutes!" He then walked into his house.

Air Chief Marshal Andrew James Dunne

Williamstown RAAF base

Air Chief Marshal Dunne had just sat down at his desk, taken off His glasses, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. He poured a glass of whiskey and began reading the papers on his desk when his phone rang. "Yes," he listened for a few seconds. "What does he want with me?" another second. "Okay, bring the car around and call my wife to pack a bag for me" He stood, grabbed his hat, and walked out of his office.

Prime minister office

Canberra

The Prime minister, Joseph Lyons, walked into the PM office lounge room with Director Stephen Andrews. "So what do you think?" he said

"I have never seen anything like it, Sir. I am not even sure what they found!" said Stephen. Sitting on the lounge were Air Chief Marshal Andrew James Dunne, Field Marshal Peter Blanes, and his wife, Doctor Jodie Blanes, and with them was Admiral Kevin Manolis.

"Glad you all made it here on short notice. We have a situation that needs your attention," said Joseph Lyons as he passed copies of what Stephen's team found. "A few months ago, Stephen sent several teams into the Simpson Desert to look for minerals. If there is going to be a war, best dig it out than buy it. Three days ago, they found this," said Lyons, and he passed them each a folder.

"Is this a Joke?" asked Blanes

"I trust Tom completely! If this is what he is reporting he has found, I believe him," said Stephen.

"Not only has he found a spaceship that looks like a gigantic aircraft carrier, but he also said they may have several different smaller alien spacecraft that could be fighter aircraft that are in the underground base that could be hundreds of thousands of years old!" said Admiral Manolis

"That is right, Admiral," said Stephen

"So if these reports are true! What are we going to do?" said Dunne.

"As of this second, everything will be classed as the highest top-secret grading we got! The site and area must be shut down, and then we need to send the smartest people to work out just what is there. With that, I want you all to go there and tell me what they have found and whether I should go and see the King. This project will be listed as extremely top secret and called the Simpsons Special Project as of this minute."

Simpson Desert 1930

50 kilometers west of Dalhousie Springs

Two weeks after the discovery

Kieth was sent to meet the Aircraft at Dalhousie Springs and to bring them to the site. That is where Air Chief Marshal Andrew James Dunne, Field Marshal Peter Blanes and his wife Doctor Jodie Blanes, and Admiral Kevin Manolis were now waiting. After climbing into four 4-wheel drive off-road vehicles, two of which had trailers also full of supplies. Kieth and the other drivers drove as fast as they dared along the desert road that was more like a goat track in places. The occupants were having a mixture of fun and panic as they tried to hold on to the roll bars as the vehicles bounced and jumped over the ruts and some parts of the track. They had to slow right down.

"lookout," said one of the drivers as the lead vehicles slammed into what is commonly known as a bulldust hole that wasn't as deep as some, but it was deep enough for the lead car to almost come to a stop. Everyone couldn't stop laughing as the dust engulfed outside and inside the car.

The old vehicles traveled for another few miles before they began to slow down and turn off the track, marked by a small sinkhole. The three other 4wd followed the lead vehicle around salt bushes and dried creek beds. Then all the drivers floor it along the desert floor. All four cars then sped faster towards a large rocky hill and began to climb it as fast as they could.

They had been on the road for two days and were getting very tired. It wasn't until they stopped on this hill that they saw a very large valley ahead of them. "Welcome to the Simpson research center," said Kieth.

Everyone climbed out of the cars and looked around, finally seeing what the surveyors called the valley. It was more like a canyon about one hundred meters wide, that stretched away for miles. It was awe-inspiring, "And this was supposed to be sandhill?" said Kevin

"Several of them, the underground river had carved the valley out of four sandhills that used to be about 400 feet high. Now we have a new visible river that goes all the way to the ocean," said Kieth

"First, this is more of a canyon than a valley!" said Peter Blanes. "And second! Is there a safe way down?"

"Yes sir, Tom and the others had carved a walkway down there to walk every morning and evening!" said Kieth

"Wouldn't it be easier if they stayed down there?" said Jodie

"It would be, ma'am, but Tom doesn't know how stable the valley or Canyon is right now. So we are staying on top until everything settles and is safe," finished Kieth

"Okay, let's head down to your camp?" said Kevin Manolis. The four off-road vehicles then slowly drove down the other side of the hill and stopped near the tents. Everyone climbed out of the vehicles and was met by the camp cook walking out of the kitchen area. Kieth yelled to him, "Hey cookie, where's the doc?" The man named cookie pointed towards the valley and said

"Down at the base!" then he yelled, "Matt, go and find Tom, and tell him to make his way back up! We have a guest!"

"Okay," everyone watched as Matt raced down the valley to the base they could easily see from the ridge.

"Might as well grab a seat and have a cuppa. It's going to be a while before he comes up!" said cookie

"That will be great, thank you, cookie," said Jodie

"No worries, I have a stew ready if you are hungry," as cookie found the best seat at the site for the lady.

"Starving! It's been a long and bumpy ride!"

Cookie dishes out plates of stew for everyone with a cup of tea each, and they sit down at the large fold-up table. Cookie then served everyone a plate as they ate while waiting for Tom. "This is very nice. Did you ship the beef all the way here?" asked Jodie.

"It's Kangaroo! Not beef," said cookie.

"Oh!" said Jodie.

Tom and the rest of his team return to camp an hour later. Kevin, Andrew, Peter, and Jodie were all sitting near the Campfire, having a meal and a cup of tea.

"Hello, names Tom king, What can I do for you People."

"Director Andrews has sent us about the discovery you made," and Brendon brought him his meal and a cup of tea, "My name is Peter Blanes, and this is my wife, Jodie."

"Hello," Tom said to Jodie.

"This is Kevin Manolis, and Andrew Dunne" Tom greeted them with a hello and handshake. Peter then handed Tom a letter from Stephen. Tom then read the letter and placed it in his pocket.

"I gather you are all military?"

"Yes, I am Field Marshal of the Army, and my wife Jodie is a Doctor of medicine," said Peter

"An Admiral," said Kevin

"Air Chief Marshal Andrew Dunne from Williamstown RAAF base"

"So I gather this is a military project now?"

"Yes! The site would be called the Simpsons special Project until a better name is found. Everything is the highest top secret now, and you are now drafted and part of the project, where you will be serving in a few years if another war starts," said Andrew

"Better to be involved in a safe project than on the front lines," said Tom, and his men all started to nod. "Do you have any Idea what we found?"

"No, But that is why we are here, so what did you find?" asked Andrew

"That's the point. I don't know what we have! It has been nearly five weeks, and I still don't have a clue, but one thing I am certain is that this base is not man-made, well, not Earthborn man, that is," said Tom

"Are you saying it's Alien?" said Kevin Manolis, and Tom nodded.

"So that is the reason why we are here? This whole area is going to be a future Top Secret military base. Within a few months, thousands of people will be coming here to build a base around that underground base, sealing it off from public view," said Andrew Dunne.

As the information reached the top brass about what they had discovered, men and material began flowing into the area for the next three years to turn Dalhousie Springs research center into one of the RAAF main airforce bases in the top end. It covered nearly three thousand square miles, or close to 7,770 square kilometers. The newly renamed Simpsons special Project was hidden deep inside this new airforce base, over the alien underground base that had been revealed. Scientists from all over the commonwealth were sent to the area to crack the large alien carrier spacecraft code barrier. As information about what they found slowly drifted to top-level brass, men and material began to flow.
