As the information reached the top brass about what they had discovered, men and material began flowing into the area for the next three years to turn Dalhousie Springs research center into one of the RAAF main airforce bases in the top end. It covered nearly three thousand square miles, or close to 7,770 square kilometers. The newly renamed Simpsons special Project was hidden deep inside this new airforce base, over the alien underground base that had been revealed. Scientists from all over the commonwealth were sent to the area to crack the large alien carrier spacecraft code barrier. As information about what they found slowly drifted to top-level brass, men and material began to flow.

Chapter 4

1935 The Project.

As the materials started flowing in the new base, so did the research on three smaller crafts inside the carrier-type ship. Doctor Henry Angelos was one of the new languagist that arrived at the base. He became a scientist after he studied his family's Greek heritage and became a Greek languagist. With a future war on the horizon, he was assigned to the Melbourne museum, and then he was sent to the base.

He was given the old ship's log and maintenance book that was found in the captain's ready room to study. As he studied the book, he found that the carrier was called the Sword and had crashed land in this country nearly ten thousand years ago. The Sword was a Jupiter class Battlestars and was 4720 feet, or 1438.64 meters long.

Henry had a good head on his shoulders, so he decided to have everyone under his control to fill out a full report for Air Chief Marshal Andrew Dunne. If what he was reading about these robots the Colonials were fighting were true, they would have already destroyed Earth! Henry wasn't sure if the anomaly that brought them here had either sent them forward or back in time. Maybe to get us ready, or to repopulate the planet.

What he learned of the Sword was truly amazing. It was a true space aircraft carrier. With three different types of aircraft inside the aircraft flight pods. The first craft was the Colonial shuttle, a large twin-engine cargo craft. It is unarmed and capable of carrying tow or three tanks. As well as extra cargo and in addition to a crew compliment. These shuttles were small craft stationed onboard battlestars for the mass transportation of personnel and supplies between ships and between ships and a planet's surface.

The second was called a Raptor, and it was about 10 meters long and had two small wings. Henry read the alien files that told him it was a multipurpose spacecraft used by the Colonial Fleet and would perform various actions, and the colonial navies were restricted in the Cylon War to sublight speeds. But these were private raptors and had what these colonials called the FTL system. It had a large cabin with an aft-facing gun emplacement. The Colonials considered this design a slow and easy target for Cylon forces to attack and destroy. However, it was not impossible to eliminate enemy targets while flying one.

The third craft was the Viper Mark II, a single-seat fighter aerospace craft used by the Colonial Fleet during the First Cylon War. The fighter served with distinction, proving to be a capable fighting vehicle and winning renown across the Twelve Colonies. The Mark II is regarded as instrumental in ensuring that the Colonials would not lose the Cylon War.

After a huge meeting, the engineers decided that they should start work on the Viper to see if they could reverse engineer them into the new jet aircraft idea. With the help of Gloster Aircraft Company's engineers most successful design so far, the twin-engine Meteor jet fighter. They joined forces with the Australian aircraft engineers to learn the similarities between the two aircraft. They redesigned and created the new Viper MK1 from the Viper MK2 found inside the Sword. The Viper one was a propeller driven aircraft, it was fast and easily out matched the Japanese when war started. The Viper two became the worlds first operational Jet fighter, or space superior fighter aircraft, a complete copy of the Colonial Viper two.

The story about the base and the Aurora-class ship started nearly a million years ago, and the commander's log book told how the Sword was thrown back in time to help a group of refugees from another galaxy called the Pegasus. Commander Mary Thomas wrote that these people explain that this Earth was not their Earth if you could understand that. These people were known as the Ancients and were also known as Ancestors, Lanteans, or the Gate Builders, or Anquietas in their language.

These people were what was left of those who left their home galaxy for the Milky Way and seeded it with life several million years ago. In short, they had to leave this galaxy for the Pegasus galaxy because of a plague that killed most of their people. But after a war in that galaxy began, it finished with their people being almost destroyed. They return to Earth to try and survive but find another group of aliens, calling themselves the Gou'ald, were controlling the planet. With the Lanteian and colonial help, they forced these parasites from the planet.

The Gou'ald were parasites from the planet somewhere in the galaxy where the commander didn't know. They infected the host body to control the galaxy, and not always a human bodies either. They came to this planet to find host, the joining of these two resulted in creatures who were very powerful race bent on galactic conquest and domination, largely without pity, compassion, or remorse. The Sword had fallen into what these Lanteans called a time wormhole, bringing the colonials here to join up with the Lanteans to help the primitive humans take back the planet. After a quick battle, the Sword was badly damaged. The Lanteans placed her in this underground base they had built. They also placed their ship in the second hanger.

After some time, some of the Lanteans ascended to a higher level of existence. The rest and the colonials who survived stayed and mixed with the primitive people of Earth, advancing their technology a little more forward. Then the Asgard were placed as guardians of the planet.

More information about the base and the people that built it suddenly exploded when a young private had brought in a few boxes of testing machines and decided to sit on a chair and have a smoke. It turned out that this part of the Ancient outpost was a military base. He said that the universe's story had played out in his mind. When asked why he could activate the chair and no one else could, he didn't know. But after he sat on it again and asked about it! A hologram appeared and answered everyone questions, telling them about the genes of the Ancients inside certain number of humans. It was this Gene that helped the private to activate the chair.

This pissed off the leading scientist and made them all jealous when the chair didn't work for them. Long story short, they found nearly two hundred out of 20 thousand personnel at the base who could activate the chair. From this point on, the chair was a wealth of knowledge. This part of the outpost was part of the original site where a huge Ancient city once stood. The chairs hologram shows everyone that these ancients that created the outpost were called the Anquietas. The same information that Henry Angelos read from the Sword's logbook. The chair also had a repository of knowledge hard-wired into the chair. It was created by an Ancients named Janus.

There were many of these chairs installed on their ships, and they helped the pilot control the whole ship's systems. But this chair was connected to what these ancient called the repository of knowledge, and it was a prototype and would only work for those with the Ancient Gene. The repository was not normally built into their chairs, but because it was very dangerous to humans to the point of death to get caught in one of their other repositories. This chair was built and worked by a mental interface. All you have to do is to select or choose what you need to know.

The scientist learned that the outpost was part of a defense base defending a huge city a million years ago. The city stretched from what is known today as Antarctica to Australia. Unknown to the group, some of this city was still intact a few miles under the ice. The second larger ship they found in the outpost dock was built over 10 thousand years ago, a prototype Aurora-class battleship that had only flown once to battle the gou'ald.

They even found information about a cityship called Atlantis, but more investigation into this information will have to wait for now. The chair even told them the Astria Porta address to the city. Whatever an Astria Porta was is still unknown at the time. The chair had given up some of its secrets, but not all of the information was useful at the time.

Information about the Aurora-class ship was again different than the colonial ship that Henry was studying. Inside the ship they found two different types of smaller crafts. One was an Anquietas shuttle, originally created and built for a ship called The Destiny. Like the colonial shuttles, they were short-range exploration vessels with an elongated nose section and wings housed in which the engine mechanism could seat a total of seventeen people. The shuttles docked in the Aurora-class ship had faded paint, mostly grey with red highlights, while the interior is mostly light blue with gold trim. These shuttles never had the gene activation in them, so many pilots stationed at the base were learning how to fly them.

The other smaller ancient ship was Gateships, small, roughly cylindrical-shaped, with an angled front and rear, allowing them to slide perfectly through open Stargates. The front section contains the vessel's cockpit with all control functions, four seats for passengers, and a large viewport at the front of the ship. The aft section contains a passenger and storage area with a hatch in the back to access the ship. The Gateship is split into two sections, the cockpit and cargo hold, with a bulkhead door to separate them. This door is quite strong, capable of holding back the pressure of deep ocean water and retaining the atmosphere in space if the atmosphere shields fail.

As far as they knew, these ships required to be flown in space, How was that possible? So far, no one has had any experience in flying jets! How were they going to fly these in space! Their pilots will need to start learning very quickly, as the war clouds were building on the horizon.

There was another weird type of alien ship deeper inside the base, but these were in pieces, an odd pyramid-type ship with no information. Many of the engineers said the wrecks could have some interest technology in them that the ancients thought be interest for us, and been placed there for us to reverse-engineer one day, but they weren't sure. They had their work cut out for them now! These wrecks will just have to wait.

1939

Four years of research had proven to be a blessing when the second world war started. Germany had invaded Poland, France, and Britain, and the rest of her commonwealth partners went to war. Even though the Viper 1 was far superior than the german airforce, there were too few of them during the first few years of the war. Along with the spitfire and hurricane, the Viper 1 had proved to e a better aircraft.

When the Japanese brought America into the war when they attacked pearl harbor three years later in 1941. This motivated Australia to recall its troops from the European theatre of war to protect the country and the base. All during the war, the prototype Jet fighter, Viper Mark 2, would take to the air in 1943. The Viper made many secret night sorties to Japan and back in one night, a feat not even thought of then. By the end of the war in 1945, both aircraft's had performed perfectly.

After the war, the pilots who knew how to fly the Vipers, were place in training to fly the Raptor, and the Ancient shuttle. The first achievement had the pilots flying the crafts to the moon and back. They even landed the shuttle on the moon's surface, but without the proper spacesuits, there was no way they were leaving them. They did use the automatic arm to pick up a few rocks to take back with them, the trip to and from the moon was done in under a few hours, and they were back just in time for dinner.

That year saw the shuttle, Raptors, and two Vipers visit nearly every planet in the solar system. After the war ended, all the surplus materials came to Australia. Then shipped to the air force base that was built over the site, soon it would grow to be as big as a city in a few years. Even a highway and railway system were being built to the area. It was getting way to big to be just an airforce base, as Dalhousie Springs research center grew, people just said that was archaeologist museum and that most of the people were there to supply the city and airforce base.

1946 had Stephen Andrews filling out a reports for the new P.M. The information was confusing initially, but thanks to his research scientist and engineers before and during the war, everything was made easy to understand. Stephen then gathered all the information for a report to the Prime Minister.

Stephen Andrews knew that his Airforce base was the world's most important and secret base in the commonwealth, and yet no one wanted to see him. So he left his office to make contact with the highest Military person in Australia, Sir Thomas Blamey. After waiting in his office for two days, Stephen finaly saw Blamey with the information. With anger in his eyes, Blamey took Stephen straight to the P.M.

Director Stephen Andrews and Sir Thomas Blamey were now sitting across the new Prime minister, Sir Robert Gordon Menzies, and the Governor-General, Sir William John McKell, as they read the file about the Simpsons special Project. The achievements with the shuttle and Vipers had their mouths open as they read. The only thing he said was to his aid in the whole six hours it took him to read it, "Cancel all my appointments for the rest of the week," When he finished, he sat back on the lounge and sighed, "Are you telling me that we have beaten the American and Russian to the moon and no one knows about it,"
