"She isn't coming for the ultrasound, she doesn't even know we are pregnant," Arizona said as she sat on the side of her bed putting her leg on.

"Well if she is coming for the entire weekend, don't you think it'll be hard to keep it from her? Why is she coming anyway?" I asked as I changed out of my PJ's and into my work clothes.

"Dad is at some military thing and Mum said she wanted to spend some time with Sofia. When I said yes, I didn't know we had this ultrasound," Arizona explained as she adjusted her leg and stood up to grab herself some clothes.

"Are we going to tell her about the baby?" I asked.

Arizona shrugged, "lets see how the ultrasound goes," Arizona suggested as she pulled a shirt over her head.

It was just shy of a year since Arizona and I had announced to our friends and family that we were back together and since then everything had been full steam ahead. Together Arizona and I had brought a new house, four bedrooms, two bathrooms including the ensuite, a large backyard with a decent sized pool at the back of the section and a spa bath sitting on the deck under the stars. It was the perfect house minus its lack of a walk in wardrobe. Sofia was now 7 and demanding an animal of some sort, she had started off wanting a dog after watching paw patrol but after some negotiating we had settled on a cat which Sofia named Blacky. We tried to suggest other names, names that wouldn't come across so bad but Sofia had insisted on the name Blacky to represent her all black cat. Arizona and I had also started the IVF process. We had searched through hundreds of donors and settled on a donor of Mexican, American decent. We liked the idea of our child replicating both Arizona and myself. IVF wasn't a guarantee especially at my age but we were lucky enough to get the positive sign first time round. We were only 8 weeks pregnant so nobody else knew the news or even knew that we were trying. We preferred it that way.

The new house was large and expertly decorated by Amelia and Arizona. It was something out of a magazine which I hated originally but it was starting to grow on me. This place was now home. I took Sofia to school like usual and as often as she could Arizona picked her up. I was beginning to make friends with some of the other mothers and had even started attending some of the fundraising events. In the past Arizona had written a cheque and sent her condolences but nesting for the baby was making me want to partake in all these parental duties.

"Callie," one of the mothers called just as I was heading back to my car. "Karl and I were wondering if you and your wife would like to come over for a drink tonightl. Jenny and her husband are coming and Dane and his wife will be there," she explained. Arizona and I weren't married but we easily referred to one another as 'my wife'. Meredith called it out very own post it wedding without the post it.

"Hey Marsha," I said with a friendly smile gracing my face. "I'll talk to Arizona and shoot you a text. I don't see why it would be a problem though," I admitted.

"Bring Sofia, the girls will want her to come play," Marsha said her thick southern accent ploughing through as she spoke.

"Of course. Thanks for the invite," I said before climbing into the car, giving Marsha a wave and driving off towards the hospital.

I spent the majority of the day in surgery. My hopeful idea of picking up Sofia went out the window when a little boy lost feeling in his lower limbs. Karev and I went into surgery to open the boy up, identify the issue and hopefully fix it. It turned out to be a relatively easy fix but the surgery itself still took 6 hours. By time I scrubbed out, did the necessary paperwork and talked to the parents it was 5pm. I was on my way to grab my gear and head home when I felt footsteps behind me and a cheeky grope of my ass, "hey," I said surprised turning around to identify the culprit.

"How is my baby mama," Arizona whispered as she kissed my cheek.

"Tired," I admitted as we both walked along the hall. "Hey do you know Marsha? Jasmine's mum from school?" I asked.

Arizona wracked her brain before nodding, "Yeah, the southern lady."

"She has invited you and I to this playdate for the girls and the parents are coming for wine and cheese and what not. I thought we could go," I suggested.

"Really?" Arizona said scrunching up her face, "I think those mums hate me."

"They don't hate you, they don't know you because we are both always working. They are lovely people babe. I want to go," I said a slight beg in my tone.

"Is this part of the pregnancy? You wanting to do all these soccer mum activities?" Arizona asked as we entered the attendings lounge to grab our stuff.

"I don't know. Maybe," I muttered as I peeled off down the other end from Arizona to my locker.

It took a bit of convincing but I managed to talk Arizona into the playdate at Marsha's house, in fact by the time I was done talking her into it, I think she was excited. We arrived just after 8 and the kids were already watching a movie and giggling away together in Jasmine's room.

"We are so glad you could make it," Marsha said as she took the bottle of wine from Arizona's hands. "Come on will you," she said with a friendly smile as she lead us through to the lounge where the other parents were. "This is Karl, my husband. I think you've met briefly before," she questioned.

"At the dance recital, yeah," Arizona said as she shook Karl's hand.

"This is Jenny and Michael, they are Aubrey's parents and Dane and Kylie who are Jana's parents," Marsha said as she grabbed a couple of glasses of wine out of the cupboard, "Red or white?" Marsha asked.

"Oh none for me thanks," I said quickly before she poured either. "I'm on call," I lied.

"I'm not," Arizona said with a friendly smile, "Red would be lovely," Arizona said as she sat up to the table immediately after me.

"I've been meaning to ask Dr Robbins…" Dane started to say before Arizona cut him off.

"Oooh too formal," Arizona laughed, "Call me Arizona," she said as she grabbed the glass of wine from Marsha and thanked her.

"Jana has this rash on her back, it comes and goes. What do you think that might be?" he asked.

"Dane, the poor lady just finished work. She didn't come here to work more," his wife said shooting him a sharp glare above her glass of wine.

"I don't mind," I lied politely. "Well I couldn't say conclusively without running tests but likely an allergy. Take her to her GP and they should have no problem identifying the issue," Arizona said before taking her first sip of her wine.

"I don't know how you two do it," Jenny said with awe, "Successful surgeons and mothers, doesn't leave you much time for fun," Jenny stated.

"Well it helps that we have an army of doctors that have helped raise Sof. We are quite the family so we all pitch in where we can," I tried to explain.

"We find time for fun," Arizona added playfully as she lay her hand on my lap. Dane laughed, "That's a girl after my own heart," he teased only to have Kylie jab him in the arm.

The rest of the night was relatively low key. Arizona had a few glasses of wine and I just stuck to sprite. By time we packed up to leave Sofia and the other girls had fallen asleep on the floor of Jasmine's room. Arizona picked Sofia up off the ground with great difficulty and carried her out to the car the small girl not moving an inch the entire time. We headed home, settled Sofia into bed then went about our own bedtime routine.

"I want to invite the parents over to our place one night," I said as I sat on the side of the bed and moisturized my face.

"You should, might be nice having some friends that aren't doctor," Arizona said as she unhinged her leg and leant it up against the wall beside her bed. "That wine really hit me," Arizona admitted as she crawled into bed her head hitting the pillow with eagerness.

"I could tell," I laughed as I too got into bed, Arizona immediately pulling me into her. Since we had found out I was pregnant Arizona had taken on the protective, dominate roll in the relationship. She no longer wanted to be the small spoon, she always wanted to be the big spoon and spent most of the time stroking my belly. I didn't mind at all, I liked protective Arizona.

"How?" Arizona challenged.

"You kissed me in front of them, you never kiss me in front of people. Not unless you know them well," I reminded her. Arizona couldn't argue with that, she knew it was true.

"I can't help it if you are looking extra beautiful lately," Arizona said as she pulled my head onto her chest and ran her fingers through my hair, her lips resting against my head every now and then in both affection and to smell my hair.

"You love me being pregnant don't you," I smirked.

"I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked last time and it's not like Sof had a smooth entrance into the world. I just want to make the most of it all and protect you. In your last trimester you're not going anywhere," Arizona joked as she kissed my cheek. "I just want you and our baby to be safe and happy," she said as she ran her hand over my belly like she had started to do. "I love our little kidney bean," Arizona said.

"Do you want a girl or boy?" I asked as I let my eyes fall shut.

"I don't care, as long as it's healthy," she said. We slowly drifted off to sleep, Arizona's arms wrapped around mine, her hand resting on my belly like a guard dog. We were going to have another baby and although we were only 8 weeks in, it felt like the baby was already here with us. We were both madly in love with our little kidney bean.

Saturday arrived quickly. There didn't seem to be enough hours in the day or enough days in the week to prepare for your mother in laws arrival. Arizona was at work and had asked me to pick Barbara up from the airport. Sofia and I stood at the welcome gate, Sofia held a sign that said grandma on it as people started flowing into the welcome area. I searched the room high and low for the familiar face of Arizona's mother but it was a high pitched shriek from Sofia that made me realise she was in view, "Don't scream Sofia," I growled but Sofia was too excited to hear my words. Sofia threw the sign onto the ground and ran the short distance and jumped into her grandmothers arms.

"Oh my baby girl, you are so big," Barbara cooed as she lay kisses upon kisses on the little girl. "Hey Callie," she said to me as she leant forward and kissed my cheek.

"We are glad you could join us for the long weekend," I said sincerely as I returned the kiss. "I'll take that," I said as I grabbed the suitcase that stood tall besides Barbara's leg.

"Thanks sweetheart," Barbara said as we walked across the room and headed for the carpark. "Where is my girl?" Barbara asked as she climbed into the front seat of mine and Arizona's new vehicle.

"Working. She had the night shift so she should be home by time we get back," I said in a hopeful tone. Barbara and Daniel had both come out only a week after we moved into the new place so they were a accustomed to the new and approved Arizona and Callie and had even made comments on how happy the pair seemed. Arizona hated to admit it but we owed so much to Dr Porter, we put our relationship in her hands with a great deal of skepticism and she turned our love into a healthy, functioning relationship.

"Sof are you buckled in?" I called as I glanced in my rearview mirror.

"Yup I am. Are you buckled in Mummy?" responded.

"Always."

We arrived back at the house. Arizona was obviously home because her car was in the driveway. When we walked inside Arizona was asleep on the couch, it appeared that she tried to stay awake by watching some TV but had nodded off to sleep anyway.

"Shhhh Mama is sleeping" Sofia said as she tiptoed across the lounge Barbara's bag pulling behind her. Sofia was used to one or both of her parents working night shift and knew that sleep was an important part of our jobs. She was the daughter of two surgeons, she knew how things worked.

"I'm not asleep," Arizona grumbled quietly.

"Yeah you were," I whispered as I leant over the back of the couch and kissed Arizonas lips, "How was work?"

Arizona nodded which generally meant, it wasn't good or bad. "Mum" Arizona said as she pulled herself off the couch and walked around to her mother, embracing her. "Thanks for coming Mum," she said quietly before pecking her cheek. "How was your flight?"

"Take off was a bit rocky but otherwise fine," she admitted. "You look tired sweetheart, why don't you go take a rest while I spend some time with your girls," she suggested.

Arizona took her mother by the shoulders and kissed her cheek, "This is why I love you," she smiled before walking off to bed like a zombie.

"Barbara, tea, coffee?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen and switched on the jug.

"A cup of tea would be lovely m'dear," she said as she sat up on a tall bar stool and rested against the kitchen island her eyes watching my every move. "So how is work?"

"Quiet actually. I'm taking a step back from surgery. We hired a new orthopedic surgeon so I can focus more on Sofia which has been really nice," I admitted.

"That's surprising. What made you do that?" Barbara asked curiously.

"Nothing specific," I lied, "Just realised Sof is growing up quite quickly and I want to savor the moment a bit more. I'm enjoying being more available to her and being able to cook for my wife," I said with a soft smile forming at the thought of all my new duties.

"Sounds to me you're finally enjoying the stay at home, mum life," Barbara said. "Maybe it's finally time to give Sof a little brother or little sister," Barbara joked.

I laughed, what else was I meant to do in that situation. Anything I said could be considered a lie considering I knew for a fact I was already pregnant.

The rest of the morning went by quite quickly. Barbara and Sofia played go fish for about an hour at Sofia's request and I pottered around the house doing little jobs here and there. I chopped up the vegetables for dinner and put them in the fridge, I hung out two loads of washing, folded a load, cleaned Sofia's room slightly and cleaned the main bathroom. I was flicking through some paperwork for work when Arizona finally stumbled in.

"Good morning," I said as I watched her walk into the study.

"Where is Mum and Sof?" she asked as she stood behind me and hung her arms around my neck.

"They were downstairs colouring the last I saw them," I explained as I kissed Arizona's arm. "Come sit on my lap," I instructed. Arizona walked around and sunk onto my lap her lips finding mine almost immediately. "Your mum was talking about a little brother or little sister for Sof," I informed her.

"What did you say?" she asked.

"Nothing. I didn't trust myself," I admitted.

"How do you feel today?" Arizona asked curiously her hand resting on my belly.

"I was a bit sick this morning but nothing since," I admitted before pushing a strand of hair out of Arizona's eyes. "We better go downstairs, you're mum will want to see you," I reminded her.

Saturday ended up being quite eventful. After Arizona woke up we went to the Zoo and had afternoon tea in the city. For dinner we had a stir fry followed by a bowl of ice cream and fresh fruit. When Barbara returned downstairs Arizona was pouring two glasses of red wine, "Here mum," she said as she finished pouring Barbara her wine and handed it over to her.

"Are you not having one?" Barbara asked as she took a sip of her wine.

"Callie isn't," she explained as she too took a sip of wine.

"I'm not feeling the best," I admitted as I tucked my legs under my body and snuggled into the couch. Arizona and Barbara both settled into the lounge, Arizona sitting beside me and Barbara making herself at home on the lazy boy as we watched 'The Notebook', a movie we happily agreed on.

Sunday morning started with my head in the toilet, everything I had eaten in the last few days being vomited up without hesitation. Arizona sat by the toilet, one hand holding my hair up while the other rubbed my back in attempt to sooth me. The sounds of me spewing caught Barbara's attention and she arrived at our bedroom door slightly concerned, "Are you guys alright?" Barbara called from the bedroom door while I continued to throw up the contents of last nights stir fry.

"Callie isn't feeling so good," Arizona called back.

"Can I come in?" Barbara called not wanting to intrude, her voice loud so that it could be heard over the sounds of me spewing.

"Yeah," Arizona responded as she started to tie back my hair, 'Do you want a glass of water or something?" she asked me but I shook my head moments before spewing again.

Barbara arrived at the doorway of the ensuite, Arizona looked back at her mother with slight concern before looking back at me. "Did she eat something bad?" Barbara asked. Arizona shook her head her hand still moving in circles on my back.

"That's what I looked like when I was pregnant with you," Barbara laughed harmlessly causing Arizona to look back at her mother in reaction. "Green tea helped, maybe it will help with a stomach bug," Barbara suggested and with an eager nod Barbara was off out of the room in fetch of tea.

Arizona kissed my shoulder as I continued to hang over the toilet. Barbara's tea ended up working a treat and I managed to last the day without being sick again, I was even able to hold down food.

Monday afternoon was fast approaching and Arizona and I were preparing for our ultrasound that nobody knew about. Barbara and Sofia had planned a trip to the movies while we claimed to have work. We had booked ourselves in with the local GP so we wouldn't find ourselves the centre of attention at Grey Sloan Memorial.

When we arrived at the doctors, it was me that was the calm one, flipping through magazines catching up on hollywood's latest gossip while Arizona twiddled her thumbs her eyes darting around the room nervously. Anybody would have thought it was her first child. When I thought about it, it was probably how Sofia came into the world that left Arizona feeling a bit frazzled regarding this pregnancy.

"Mrs Torres," a doctor called, a tall, thin lady with a short grey haircut appeared in the lobby.

"That's me,' I said instinctively as Arizona and I stood up. I took Arizona's hand in attempt to calm her down slightly and we followed the good doctor down the hall and into an exam room.

'Please take a seat," she gestured towards a pair of seats as she sat down behind her desk.

"Calliope Torres," she read of the chart. "Dr Callie Torres?" the doctor asked curiously.

"Yes. We are here because we want to keep our pregnancy from our colleagues as long as possible," I tried to explain. So much for being unknown.

"And you must be…" the doctor held out her hand to Arizona giving herself a chance to introduce herself.

"Arizona Robbins, I'm the wife," Arizona said without a beat. "And the baby's other mother," she said proudly.

"Arizona Robbins, as in the head of pediatric surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial?" Dr Juarn asked almost rhetorically. "I feel like you could monitor this pregnancy yourself without any concerns," the doctor said.

"Well we went through the IVF process through a friend of ours in Los Angeles who suggested you as a follow up doctor," I informed her. "She doesn't hand out compliments lightly so we figured you must be good at what you do," I added.

"Let me guess. Addison Montgomery?" she asked as she grabbed her blood pressure machine from her desk.

"Yes. Although capable to monitor a pregnancy for someone else we don't believe we are emotionally capable of monitoring our own pregnancy." Arizona explained. "We had a pretty rough delivery of our first child and we would just like this one to go slightly more to plan," she added.

"I saw that. I trust your daughter is healthy?" she asked as she cuffed my arm with the blood pressure machine.

"Very healthy, very clever little girl," I boasted as the cuff on my arm started to tighten, the doctor listening to my heart as she pumped, monitoring heart beats throughout the process. During this process we all stayed silent. We were all doctors, we knew the importance of silence when necessary.

"You're 120 over 80," the doctor said knowing full well we were capable of interpreting those results.

"Little lower would be nice," Arizona suggested and Dr Juarn nodded.

"We will re test you in a fortnight and see if there is any change. It might just be your body reacting to your pregnancy," she explained. "How far along are you?" Dr Juarn asked as she jotted down my results on a piece of paper.

"8 weeks," I said soundly. "I know we are early, Addison thinks because there is a high chance of having twins that we should have an early scan," I explained.

"She is right," the doctor agreed as she stood up off her chair and walked over to a curtain. Drawing back the curtain she revealed a bed, "Let's see your little fella," she said with a soft smile forming on her lips for the first time since we had arrived in the room. Dr Juarn looked to be from Indian descent by the look of her flawless skin and was quite a serious lady who only rarely showed her softer side. Both Arizona and I liked her and quickly warmed to her matter of fact style of doctoring; she reminded me of Yang.

I stood up from my chair and I climbed up onto the bed while Dr Juarn prepared the ultrasound machine. Arizona sat at the side of my head, one hand holding hers and the other running through my hair once and a while. "So how old is your first daughter?" Dr Juarn asked in attempt to make small talk.

"7, turning 8 this year. Growing quickly that's for sure," I said before glancing at Arizona who smiled at me.

Dr Juarn wheeled the ultrasound machine over to me and she grabbed the gel, "I'm just going to lift up your shirt," she said before rolling up my shirt. I felt the cool air instantly on my belly and a giddiness rolling over me as she started pouring gel over my stomach. I winced at the suddenly cool temperature, I even chuckled slightly.

"As you know, it's too early to tell you gender but we should be able to get a heartbeat," she explained as she grabbed the wand and started moving it over my stomach her eyes fixated on the machine that displayed my insides.

"Oooo," Arizona said accidently as she noted something on the ultrasound.

"What?" Callie asked panicked.

"Well there is our wee baby," she explained knowing that I could see that.

"Dr Juarn, maybe you should tell her," Arizona said remembering that Callie wasn't one of her patients but instead her wife.

"Well at this stage in a pregnancy it can be hard to see more than one child. I think what Dr Robbins is referring to is the blemish on the scan over here," Dr Juarn explained as she pointed to the faintest fuzziness of grey on the scan. "I can't say for sure either way but it could be a second fetus," she said.

I looked at Arizona who was already looking at me, searching my face for a reaction. "Two babies?" I questioned just to make sure I heard it right.

"Well we will likely have to wait another week or two to properly say but maybe," Arizona said a smile creeping onto her face which in return made me smile. "Twins," I said as I tried to familiarize myself with the concept of two rather than one. "Maybe," Arizona repeated trying to make it clear that it could have been something else. We both looked back at the screen our eyes fixating on the image before us, "can you find a heartbeat yet?" Arizona asked hopeful, knowing it was a hit or miss this early on in the pregnancy.

"Lets have a look" she muttered as she turned the volume up on the machine so if there was a heart beat we would hear it. Dr Juarn moved the wand over my belly, stopping every now and then to listen. The room was silent for what seemed like forever before a heartbeat filled the room.

"Oh my lord, there it is," I gushed my hand squeezing Arizona's tightly. Arizona leant down and kissed my head proudly. "Our baby," she whispered against my skin before she locked her eyes back on the ultrasound screen.

Dr Juarn moved the wand over to the hazy blemish on the screen the room falling silent again knowing very well what she was attempting to do. She moved the wand back and forth over and over again but it seemed if there was a second baby the machine was yet to recognize the heart beat; entirely common. "It was a long shot," she said before putting the wand back into its slot on the machine and grabbing a towel to wipe down my belly. "I'll schedule you two in for this time in two weeks and maybe we will have more news," she said with a smile before she wheeled the machine away and gave Arizona and I a chance to be alone.

Arizona pushed my hair off my face and she leant down, hovering just above my lips, "Our little kidney bean is perfect," she whispered before I leant up and we kissed. Being pregnant had made Arizona and I love more fiercely than we ever thought possible. The drama with Mark and all that, that entailed made it very hard for anybody to really enjoy the pregnancy process like we had wanted too. This was a second chance.

When we got home Sofia and Barbara were still out. Arizona was feeling very lovey dovey after seeing our baby for the first time and I was very accepting of the love. "You sit down," she whispered as she nibbled on my ear from behind while I put a pot of tea on to brew. I felt Arizona slip her hands under my shirt and rest them on my belly. I turned around and was greeted immediately with a kiss which I happily returned.

"Do you want to…." she stopped talking because her actions spoke louder than words. Arizona moved her hands down to my pants and slowly slipped one under the waist of my pants her fingers tickling my waist line playfully.

"Somebody's happy," I smirked our eyes fiercely locked on one another as I felt her hand slowly move lower down, eventually reaching the top of my pussy. "They are going to be home soon," I said breathlessly as Arizona leant forward and started kissing my neck which always took my breath away.

"Let's make it quick then," she murmured against my skin her fingers flicking at my clit as I braced myself against the kitchen bench behind me. Even if I wanted to stop her, which I didn't, I couldn't; her touch made me weak at the knee's quite literally.

Arizona kissed my neck playfully before I insisted with a slight tug of her face to kiss me. Our lips locked while one of her hands worked me down below and the other slipped beneath my bra and started rubbing my nipple. Every time I attempted to let out a gasp I was silenced by Arizona's lips. I felt her fingers slowly circle my entrance before she released an airless gasp of pleasure and pushed her fingers inside of me. I moved hard up against the marble kitchen bench my leg lifting up off to the side slightly to give Arizona more room to pleasure me. Arizona moved her fingers quickly in and out, as much as we wanted to savor the feeling we were on a time frame. With every penetration of her fingers I could feel her hips instinctively buck forward which gave me a special kind of feeling all on it's own.

"Oh god" I moaned as Arizona increased the pace, my eyes flicking closed and my head falling back as I began to shudder in and around her. "Oh fuck," I muttered as I fell weakly into Arizona's arms. Arizona held me tightly, her fingers sliding out only when she thought I had experienced the entire force of the orgasm.

"How did that even happen?" I asked breathlessly as Arizona pecked my lips.

"You are so sexy pregnant," Arizona said with an eagerness about her that made me smirk into another kiss.

"You are horny," I observed.

I dragged Arizona off to the bathroom and we went round two in the shower. I wanted to pleasure her and make her cum like she had done for me but the idea of Sofia and Barbara walking in on that was far from appealing. After finally satisfying Arizona's spontaneous cravings we both washed ourselves off, changed and wondered down stairs to make another brew of tea after the other batch was so rudely forgotten about.

Just as the ding that told us that the tea was brewed went off, the door also swung open and a quiet house for a loved up couple finally returned to the hustle and bustle of a family.

Barbara was meant to leave Tuesday but after Arizona and I were both abruptly called into work Barbara agreed to stay to pick Sofia up from her half day at school. Barbara was sitting at the island doing a crossword when the phone rung. Barbara decided to let it ring through to the answering machine so that Arizona and I could tend to it when we got home.

The phone finally went to the answering machine and Dr Juarns voice was projected through the house. "Hello, Dr Juarn here from Dyson medical centre, I've had the results of your blood tests come in, if you could call me back when you get a chance that would be great, thanks, bye," the voice said before hanging up the phone.

Barbara's head shot up, her ears figuratively perked up as she listened to Dr Juarn's voice. Why was Callie seeing a GP when she worked in a hospital of skilled doctors? That should have been the 5th or 6th clue in a long stretch of clues over the weekend that would inform Barbara of the news but still she had no idea. Barbara returned to her crossword thinking nothing of it.

"We should tell her," Arizona said as she sat on the end of the bed watching me put our clothes away.

"We haven't even told Sofia yet," I reminded her.

"Well Sofia doesn't need to be the first that knows. I just think it would be nice to tell her in person and honestly I want to tell someone," Arizona admitted. "She knows somethings up, we need to give her some kind of excuse for the blood tests,' Arizona added.

"I told her my blood pressure was slightly elevated so they were monitoring it and I prefered to keep my medical history out of Grey Sloan memorial," I said as I packed Arizona's t-shirts into her draw.

"Wait, she bought that?" Arizona said.

"If we tell her we need to tell Sofia too," I insisted.

"I want to tell Sof, I just think we need to be careful how we do it. Maybe when mum leaves we could have a family night and tell her, give her a chance to ask questions," Arizona suggested.

"You really want to tell her now?" I asked curiously my eyes glancing back at the pretty blonde.

"I'd like to but if you don't want to yet then I understand," she said sincerely.

"We will tell her then," I said causing Arizona to shoot me one of her magical, dimple smiles.

"You're the best wife anybody could ask for," Arizona said as she shot up and kissed the back of my head before exiting the room.

"Wait, now?" I called but it was pointless because Arizona was gone.

I put my pants away in a rush before following after Arizona who was on her way through to the lounge, "Hey ma, can Cal and I talk to you?" she asked causing Barbara to look up from her book. It was just after 9pm so Sofia was fast asleep and had been for a good wee while.

"Yeah sure, what's wrong?" she asked as she lay her book on her lap just as I arrived in the room.

"I thought something might have been going on with all the behind the doors chatting you two have been doing," she said as I finally settled on the couch beside Arizona. Arizona took my hand purposefully before glancing back at me, "Do you want to tell her?" she asked.

"You can," I assured her as I placed my spare hand on Arizona's back and rubbed small circles into it for comfort.

"You two are scaring me," Barbara said a look of concern coiling on her brows.

"Nothing to be scared about," I informed her a smile gracing my lips to convince her.

"Mum, Callie is pregnant. We had an IVF treatment while we were in Los Angeles and it worked," Arizona said proudly.

A smile almost immediately formed over Barbara's face. She jumped out of our chair, as did we so that she could hug us, although it was more like a squeeze than anything. "I'm so happy for you two," she said in a high pitched voice as she swapped from Arizona to hugging me. "That's why you have been sick," she laughed kissing my cheek, "Congratulations," she said as she finally released me and settled back in her seat for details. "So what are you like 6 weeks along?" Barbara asked.

"8, nearly 9," Arizona responded as she lay her hand on my thigh out of habit. "We haven't told anybody yet, obviously Sofia doesn't know or you would have known the moment you walked in," she added.

"We plan to keep it to ourselves through the first trimester but you were here and we wanted to tell you," I said softly.

"Boy or girl? I suppose you don't know that yet," she said with a slight squeal of excitement to follow.

"We don't know yet," Arizona admitted. "As soon as we do, you'll know," she promised. We decided in the moment that it was best to keep the potential news of twins to ourselves. There was a chance the blemish turned out to be nothing or if it did eventuate into something there was a chance the second baby could have major complications including death, something both Arizona and I knew but had yet to talk about.

Arizona and I were loving the early stages of the pregnancy, the stolen glances in the hospital, the moments of intimacy and even the moments where I didn't feel so good. We were only 8 ½ weeks pregnant and we were loving every minute of it.
