The Loom of Fate
Just over a year ago…
John, Raven, Charlie, and Alex were on a video chat with Rachel Garrick of New Justice. They needed to get the two pieces of the Loom of Fate off-world as soon as possible.
"I have a magical object which needs protecting," John was explaining to Rae, as Rae frowned, but nodded.
"Say no more. It sounds like you need Dark Witch for this though," Rae stated. "I'm not really the magical one in our group."
"Dark Witch?" Alex was the one to ask, but before any more could be said, the screen went blank again and all three paused.
"Did we lose connection?" John asked, but before anyone could answer, a new woman appeared; she had dark hair, blue eyes and a strong jaw. She appeared to be in their Home Base headquarters – the island they'd refurbished for use of their Justice League outside of Watchtower.
"The Flash said you needed a magic user?" The woman asked, looking at the three on the screen. "I'm Nora Darkh," she added, for the confused looks.
"Flipping Heck!" It was John who swore. "I thought you were meant to be a teenager. At least the Karry version, and the one here…"
"I'm… it's complicated," Nora shrugged, and John decided he wanted to hear the story eventually but that could wait for another time. "So, how can I help?"
"What do you know about the Loom of Fate?" It was Charlie who asked this.
"A magical object that decided the destiny of every soul it looms," Nora surmised. "I dunno what happened to it on this world, I assume it was destroyed or possibly never existed, why?"
"Because we have two of three pieces here and we want to hide one on your world so two of the three Sister of Fate can't go after it," John explained. There was a long pause while Nora seemed to calculate these words.
"How exactly could one hide something like that?" Nora finally asked; not exactly the reply that John or Charlie expected.
"Pretty easily, actually," John was the one to answer this as he held out one of the two rings that he'd had in his coat pocket.
"Seriously?" Nora paused at seeing the ring.
"Complicated magic transfigured the three pieces of the Loom into rings," Charlie was the one to explain this.
"Cool," Nora nodded her head, impressed. "So, you want me to look after them?"
"Only one of them," John corrected. "We need to separate them."
"Sure," Nora shrugged. "Makes sense. Just send one over to me and I can look after it. What happens if the Sisters come for me?"
"They can't cross over to other worlds," Charlie stated this as Alex took the ring, putting it down on a specific spot on the floor. "The only way for us to cross over would be… well, that," Charlie remarked as Alex sent the ring over to New Justice, using their multiverse transporter; Nora chuckled on the screen as she moved off and appeared a moment later, holding the ring.
"This is actually really pretty," Nora stated as she slipped the ring onto her index finger. "Hey, it fits."
"Augmented magic. Fits the finger of anyone who wears it," Charlie explained, to a nod from Nora.
…
Later that same day, John was in STAR Labs, one piece of the Loom of Fate still upon his person. He had an idea, given that Amelia Allen of Karry Universe was on this world currently, but he had to act now, rather than wait any longer before she left.
"One moment, love," John called to Amelia, who paused in the doorway she was moving through. "Amelia, could I have a word with you?"
"Urm, sure?" Amelia stated, following the magic user. He reached into a pocket and pulled out an ornate ring.
"Do you mind keeping this safe, on your world?" John asked.
"What is it?" Amelia replied, tentatively picking up the ring from the palm of his hand.
"A Piece of the Loom of Fate," John explained. "It needs to be kept off-world and I did think of Prime Caitlin in there, but since you're here… well, it's a powerful magical object and as you know a thing or two about them," he nodded to the bag she had over her shoulder, containing the Death Totem.
"Another magical object," Amelia smirked to herself as she pocketed the ring. "Sure, why not?"
"Thanks love," John smirked as he pulled a cigarette from his other pocket and contemplated it. Amelia raised her eyebrow at him.
-SuperEarth-
On Karry Universe, Amelia was sitting with Winn in their downstairs apartment of the Penthouse. They finally had some time to themselves as Kara and Barry had taken the family to Universal Studios for the next couple of days – Amelia had wanted to go, but she had to prioritize on work first this time, given L-Corp had a very important project nearing release.
Working from home today, Amelia was glad to have a break as she sat on the sofa with Winn, who had been watching his wife on a very long phone call with Lena and the board of L-Corp, admiration in his eyes.
"You could rival Kara somedays with that business mind," Winn said as Amelia sighed.
"I don't know," Amelia shrugged. "She knows things I wouldn't even know where to start. I just work for Lena."
"Even so," Winn chuckled. "What do you want for lunch? I can make something, or we can be cheeky and order in?"
"Oh, let's order in. I want a pizza anyway," Amelia grinned as she handed Winn the phone. "Remember, I like peppers on top."
"I kn… Hang on, is that meant to do that?" Winn asked, grabbing Amelia's hand as he noticed something weird.
"What…?" Amelia asked, seeing where his line of vision went to – one of the rings on her finger that was glowing. "Now that–" before Amelia could finish, she vanished in a flash of light, much to Winn's shock.
"Oh, come on!" Winn groaned.
...
On SuperEarth, John Constantine was with Barry in STAR Labs. Barry had come to look over the programmable matter he and Ray had been working on but had been called away by John who was visiting Alex at the same time, using the opportunity to show AJ part of the former Justice League base. John had left AJ in the part of the lab that had been destroyed when Zari's parents had died, to practice her abilities in private.
"What's up?" Barry asked John. They were out in a corridor while Alex had gone back to her office, some online paperwork needed to be done today for the DEO.
"I have disturbing news," John frowned.
"What else is new with you?" Barry remarked, trying to keep the mood light.
"Hey," John rolled his eyes at this. "It's about the Loom of Fate."
"I figured. What now?" Barry asked, but before John could answer, there was a flash of white light, and Amelia Allen appeared in the room.
"–shouldn't happen," Amelia remarked, before falling over as she had been in a sitting position. "Ow," she added.
"Amelia!" Barry moved over and helped her up, but instantly noticed the ring on her finger glowing.
"Thanks Barry… which…? "Oh, SuperEarth..." she recognized where she was as Barry turned to look at John.
"I'm guessing the last piece of the Loom is about to appear somewhere?" He asked John as Amelia brushed herself off and looked between the pair.
"Yeah, it is," John stated, sadly.
"And when all three are on the world, that means Lachesis and Atropos will come to Earth too?" Barry asked.
"And Astra Logue. She's now their third," John stated.
"Damnit," Barry sighed. They had known this was going to happen eventually, but Barry had been hoping they would have had more time.
"Hi, sorry but what exactly is happening?" Amelia asked, raising a hand like she was in class.
"The ring I gave you, part of the Loom of Fate," John explained. "When the third comes into existence, all three will call to each on the same plain of existence," John stated. "Only then you can take the ring off."
"It would have been nice to know that," Amelia pointed out, glaring between John and Barry now. She went to test this theory, trying to take the ring off, but it seemed stuck.
"Hey, I didn't know," Barry defended himself – he'd met with and talked to Amelia a handful of times, mainly to travel across multiverse Disneys, since Amelia had received the ring, but he honestly didn't know about this complication to the Loom of Fate. He turned to face John at this.
"I… should have mentioned," John muttered, not meeting Amelia's eye now. "Perhaps I should add that the rings must have wearers? You're now a wearer of Fate, Amelia."
"Wearer of Fate?" Amelia laughed at this.
"It's just a title…" John blushed.
"What exactly does that mean?" Barry asked.
"Not much – although your connection to Fate is stronger than the rest of humanity," John remarked. "Even someone who wears one of the rings for a short time has that same connection," he added.
"That's kind of cool," Amelia reasoned. "Does that come with any other powers? I have three currently."
"In all honesty... not a clue," John shrugged.
"Well, I'm sorry for the ring bringing you here unexpectedly," Barry added to his alternative sister.
"Ah, I'm used to being pulled off-world. So long as I don't almost die this time," Amelia sighed. Barry frowned at this comment. "Although it's a busy workday. I should head back…"
"I don't–" John began, but Amelia was already marching back to Alex's office, where the multiverse system was, surprising the woman as she opened the door.
"Mila?" Alex asked as Amelia entered the office, but paused when she realized who it was. Despite the two being identical, the fact Mila had covered her arms in tattoos made it easy to tell the two apart. "Oh, Amelia from Karry? Here for more Disney?"
"Yes, to being from Karry, unfortunately no to Disney," Amelia stated. "I need to head home, the ring from the Loom of Fate got me here."
"Yeah, that's probably not a good idea," John spoke, catching up.
"Why not?" Amelia and Alex said as one. Barry kept quiet now, only just keeping up.
"The Loom Ring won't allow it," John stated, "not now. The ring won't leave this world now."
"Urgh," Amelia sighed.
"Yeah, sorry, you're a Loom Wearer – you're bound to the Loom piece until the third piece actually appears on this world," John explained.
"A little warning next time," Amelia groaned. "Wait, there were three pieces. One is with me, the other is about the show so…. Who has the third?"
-SuperEarth-
On New Justice, Nora Darkh was busy fighting a fellow magical meta human, Jinx, getting the better of her too with the help of Adam, their version of Ray Palmer, Sideways and Sara Lance. She had just sent a stunning spell at Sideways, who knocked it back to her with his own portal.
Nora was chanting, keeping her distance as Sara kept an eye out, keeping their own magical meta human safe from attacks.
"Doing good, Dark Witch!" Sara called.
"Just one more incantation and she'll be depowered," Nora explained as Adam and Sideways kept the baddie distracted, Adam now growing tall to use force on the villain.
Nora began to chant the last incantation when she noticed the ring glowing on her hand.
"No! Not now!" Nora cried, bringing Sara's attention back to her.
"What?" Sara asked, but in a flash of light, Nora Darkh had vanished. "Damnit," Sara added, just as Adam was thrown back. "I guess we're doing this the hard way," Sara remarked, extending her bo staff as she jumped in to help the fight. "Let's get some backup here too. Nerds, a little help?" she asked into coms.
…
"At least Nora Darkh would know the finer details," Amelia sighed; John had explained about the other person who he had given a Loom ring to.
"You'd think that," John mused now. Ever since he'd given her the ring, he had been in conversation with New Justice's Nora Darkh and developed a sort of friendship with her.
"She's magic, she'll be fine," Barry pointed out, not really knowing much about this Nora Darkh woman, but from what John had said, it sounded like she'd deal with this better than Amelia had.
That was when there was a flash of white light, and the woman herself appeared in the office, hands out as she was still mid-incantation.
"No!" Nora's groaned again, before blinking and looking around. "I knew I shouldn't have taken the Loom ring," she sighed, as her eyes met John and then Amelia, noticing instantly the glowing ring on her finger. "You too, huh?"
"Yeah," Amelia stated. "John was just telling us about the third ring." They turned their attention back to John now at this.
"Well, now that both parts are on this world again," John sighed, "it means the last piece will be free within the next 12 hours – and then, so will the Fates."
"Wait, I'm stuck here for the rest of the day? I have work!" Amelia remarked. "Why does this always happen when I am in the middle of my job?"
"Would you prefer it happen when you're at Disney?" Alex asked.
"Hum… good point," Amelia paused, causing Barry to chuckle for a moment.
"You can bunk up with us tonight if you want," Barry remarked. "It would be nice to have a fun version of my sister around. Nora you're welcome too." Nora gave Barry a nod.
"Thanks. I need to make a call," Amelia sighed, grabbing her cell from her pocket, knowing she could connect to the multiverse through her phone at least, so she could call Winn and Lena.
"Wait a moment," Alex stated, having been deep in thought at the Loom discussion.
"This better be quick," Amelia stated, her phone still out as she was in the middle of connecting it to the system of this world.
"Your counterpart has the Death Totem," Alex remarked, causing Amelia to pause and put her phone down. John and Nora made a discreet exit at that – mainly for Nora to shout at John some more, but to also give Alex, Amelia and Barry some alone time.
"She has the Death Totem? Did it choose her?" Amelia asked, all thoughts of contacting her husband and boss gone now as her mind went to her own Death Totem, which she always kept on her person. She had previously kept it in a box that turned into a gauntlet, but she had fallen out of love with the gauntlet and the design of it made it hard to combine with the other Totems. She reached her pocket and took out the black stone. She had attached something to the back so she could pin it to her clothes so it wouldn't get lost.
"Yes," Barry stated looking at Amelia's Death Totem.
"Okay," Amelia didn't know what else to say at this as she put her hand around the stone.
"Considering her past actions and what we told you last time," Alex explained, reminding Amelia of a discussion they'd had in private when she'd helped cure her counterpart of her tumor last year – she remembered something about Mila being punished and having her powers taken away being a good way to keep her down, "having the Death Totem throws a big spanner in the works," Alex concluded.
"Yeah, I can see that," Amelia mused, looking between Barry and Alex now. "What exactly do you want to ask me?" Amelia attached her Death Totem to her shirt at this.
"What does this mean for my Mila?" Barry asked. "We know the Death Totem gives powers to its Bearers, and considering everything with Mila…"
Amelia sighed at this, realizing this was a delicate situation now as she chose her words carefully. "Well, you have to respect the Death Totem," Amelia began. "It's not a toy, and you can – and will – lose control of it if you're not careful; and the Death Totem is the most powerful and most deadly of the Totems. It destroyed its village across the multiverse when the original Bearer lost control. The one on New Justice nearly destroyed the entire world recently because it was broken…"
"Seriously?" Barry's eyes were wide with shock at this.
"Yeah, if Rae hadn't gotten me, things would have been world-ending bad," Amelia said.
"Jees…" Alex muttered.
"But if it's chosen its Bearer, you can't separate them. I'm not the biggest Totem expert but breaking the connection between Bearer and Totem is nye-on impossible and can be deadly for either parties, or the world of the Totem," Amelia explained. "I'm sorry, that's not what you wanted to hear but it's fact, you two."
"It's what we feared," Alex sighed, sharing a look with Barry.
"Wait, Amaya was Bearer of the Spirit Totem and now Mari has it, but Amaya is fine," Barry reasoned.
"Amaya is still alive here, nice," Amelia said with a smile. "But that's different. Amaya passed the Totem down to the next Bearer before her death. There are two ways to get rid of a Totem: Death or passing it to the next generation. Now that the totem has chosen Mila it will stay with her heirs until her line completely dies."
"Mila is infertile, so no heirs," Alex pointed out.
"Kara's pregnant, right?" Amelia asked.
"Yeah, but why… Oh, crap my unborn children count as her heirs," Barry said realizing it and Amelia gave a nod. "Yeah, we're not giving the Death Totem to my kids," Barry decided.
"True. But hey, you need to give Mila the benefit of the doubt – she is me at the end of the day and look how I turned out. I'm good with my Totem, it's good with me, and I only use it when needed. Mila may surprise you," Amelia explained. "And something tells me you don't know Mila like you should – maybe it's time to connect with her again."
"Yeah, I hope so," Barry agreed. He did feel conflicted over his sister these days, but given Amelia's words of wisdom, maybe he should take time to get to know the new Mila.
-SuperEarth-
Outside in the corridor, Nora Darkh had pulled John aside to shout at him about the Loom rings. It was only when she'd ran her voice hoarse, and John was red-faced, but smirking, did she finally stop.
"Are you done?" John asked, folding his arms.
"For the moment," Nora stated. "But I could have left some members of my League to die. They were facing Jinx and there's no other magic users on my world."
"I'm sure they'll be fine," John stated. "New Justice is one of the strongest Earths out there. Although we should consider getting you an apprentice. I have an idea, but that can wait though. I want to run something by you – since you're now stuck here," John added.
"Run something by me?" Nora asked, eyebrow raised.
"I've recently come across a child of one of the Forces – not the Speed Force," John stated.
"Seriously?" Nora paused at this. "Which Force?"
"The Sphere of the Gods," John explained.
"Of course," Nora smirked at this. "When my Rae went to the Sphere to return our world's Totems, the Sphere mentioned something about having a child in the multiverse. I should have assumed it was here on SuperEarth – it's the most magical world now thanks to you and Enchantress."
"I'll take that as a compliment," John remarked. "But she's not from this world. She came to ours to seek advice. I've been training her as best as I can, but her abilities are beyond anything I've ever seen – and she doesn't even know what potential she has."
"Okay," Nora stated, sure what John was about to ask.
"Want to meet her?" John smirked.
"Since I'm stuck here, why not?" Nora said.
…
AJ obviously hadn't left SuperEarth yet; knowing Supergirl and the Flash, knowing her world's Justice Society and knowing this world had their own Justice League, she had been informed of the multiverse system, the teleport between worlds – unfortunately, there wasn't a system on Legacy Earth, as Kayla and Cisco, when they had visited, had deemed them too green to put in a system. AJ had smirked a little at that revelation.
Of course, AJ could have returned home through Cisco or a Gypsy, but the Cisco of this world, in AJ's presence, couldn't open a portal to Legacy Earth and when Prime's Cisco turned up – the expert in the multiverse – he'd discovered there was 'something' blocking him opening a portal to Legacy Earth. John had theorized this was the Sphere of the Gods interfering, keeping AJ on this world until she was ready.
Right now, AJ was still in STAR Labs. She was in the destroyed section of the Labs – so far, the builders had stripped the walls back and cleaned the area up, but the main work wasn't meant to start for a little while. She had her eyes closed as she concentrated – part of a lesson John had taught her was to visualize and reconstruct the cause of destruction.
She hadn't got very far when she heard footsteps and opened her eyes, turning to see John had returned with another woman.
"Oh, hi," AJ stated, frowning. The woman looked familiar.
"AJ, this is Nora Darkh – she's from the world called New Justice. Nora, this is AJ," John introduced.
"Another Nora?" AJ mused, to a raised eyebrow from Nora Darkh.
"Aside from Barry's mother, who else do you know called Nora?" Nora asked.
"It's just… it doesn't matter," AJ shrugged it off. "John, it's not working. Recreating the scene like you said, I just can't get it."
"That doesn't matter now," John dismissed. "We have bigger problems."
"Let me guess. The Loom of Fate?" AJ asked, nodding to Nora, the ring on her hand still glowing.
"You're good," John grinned, turning to Nora himself.
"Kind of obvious, though," Nora pointed out, holding up the glowing ring.
"The last piece is due to come soon, right?" AJ asked, having been filled in about the Loom in the meantime.
"Yeah, within 12 hours," John stated.
"It comes from the Sphere of the Gods too, right? Like me?" AJ asked, knowing this history now. Strangely, it hadn't come as a shock when she was told she was a child of one of the Forces of the Universes – like she had expected it. She didn't even need to have the Forces explained to her, just knowing them when they were mentioned to her.
"Well, the Sphere created the Fates, and they created the Loom. Why?" John asked.
"Just a thought I had," AJ mused.
"Which is…?" Nora asked.
"Give the Sphere the Loom. Once it's completely out of reach, surely the Loom of Fate wouldn't be any danger?" AJ pointed out.
"If we did that, Charlie, Atropos and Lachesis would be powerless, mortal," John explained.
"So?" AJ frowned at this. "From what you've told me of Atropos and Lachesis, it would probably be a good idea to de-power them."
"And Charlie?" Nora pointed out.
"Yeah, that's a good point," AJ mused.
"It's a good idea though. Although I couldn't visit the Forces, not physically – only a child of the Forces could…" John stated knowingly at this.
"Me?" AJ stepped back at this. "A little too soon…"
"Barry could go," Nora pointed out. "Rae visited the Sphere, don't forget, and Barry is a child of the Speed Force too, so will be allowed in the Sphere."
"Another good idea," John said to Nora with a nod. Any child of the Forces could access them, after all.
"Maybe you can go with Barry," Nora addressed AJ. "Alone might be scary for you, but with Barry, you at least don't need to take center stage."
"I… I'll think about it," AJ muttered.
"It was your suggestion," Nora pointed out.
"Yeah," AJ said.
"I better get in contact with Charlie. This is the only proper plan we have," John stated.
"Leaving it to the eleventh hour there, then," Nora joked now.
-SuperEarth
On suggestion, Barry had run with Amelia to Coast City, first having stopped off at Mila and Crystal's apartment to find no one home, then to Mila's place of work to find she was there – it was during the day, after all.
Not wanting to disrupt her at work, Barry and Amelia waited until she was on break to speak to her – surprising Mila, given she didn't expect her brother, or her double.
"Twice in one week, that's a shocker," Mila remarked once Barry had moved over to her. "I'm guessing this is about the Totem?"
"Yes and no," Barry stated as Amelia moved forward, causing Mila to pause.
"The double of me you prefer to spend time with," Mila sighed, taking in her double as she said this. "Although what's up with that ring?" she noticed the glowing ring on Amelia's finger.
"The Loom of Fate," Amelia stated, Mila's eyes widening at this. "It's imminent, and the glowing is a warning of that."
"Damn. So, I guess this is also a flying visit like last time?" She looked at Barry at this.
"Sort of, I suppose…" Barry bit his lip at this. He wasn't too sure what he was going to say to his sister.
"Look, Barry," Mila sighed. "I'm working, my quick break is only for ten minutes so unless this is important…?" Mila crossed her arms at this, a little defensively.
"It's about you and me actually," Barry remarked.
"What about us?" Mila asked, keeping one eye on her double.
"We don't really do much anymore…" Barry tried.
"That's no surprise. After everything I did, when you became… well, you know," she didn't want to oust him as the Flash here, after all, "and then Kara, too... we've just grown apart," Mila stated. "Besides, you spent enough time with her, anyway," she nodded to Amelia at this.
"Did you want to do Disney with us?" Amelia asked, surprised by this revelation.
"What?" Mila responded, shocked at the question.
"Well, Disney is our thing. I mean it started with me, Barry here, Cisco Junior, Kayla, and Mon, but my Winn has since joined in, so you're more than welcome to join too," Amelia said.
"I don't like Disney," Mila pointed out.
"What?" Amelia asked, her mouth open in shock.
"So, that's a no," Barry voiced, trying not to react to Amelia's shock at a version of her not liking Disney.
"Barry, you're my brother – my real brother," Mila glared at her double at this, the implication being that Karry's Amelia wasn't his true sister like she was. "We used to do a lot and now…" Mila sighed, not sure what else to say to this.
"You chose to leave," Barry pointed out.
"You can get here in seconds. Wherever I go, you can be here like that," Mila clicked her fingers, representing what she meant.
"She has a point," Amelia voiced.
"Maybe I didn't think I would be welcome," Barry countered.
"He has a point too," Amelia said. "After everything I've been told..."
"Oh? What do you know?" Mila asked her double.
"About what?" Amelia paused at this.
"About what I've been through," Mila insisted.
"Oh, well I am pretty close to another Barry and this Barry here," Amelia said, putting an arm around Barry, but quickly withdrawing it at Mila's look. "Plus, my own experience in what happened with that Enchantress chick. So, I think I am pretty knowledgeable in all that went down."
"How many Barrys do you need?" Mila asked, frowning at Amelia.
"Need? Probably none. Want, on the other hand… I want them all," Amelia said, causing Barry to pause.
"Hey, I'm not a Pokémon you have to collect, Amelia," he pointed out to her.
"It's not the point," Amelia quickly dismissed. "Mila, you left in anger. You went no contact. Barry respected that decision, and it wasn't his place to break that. It was your place to reach out."
"Exactly! I didn't want to cross a line and I didn't exactly know how you would react due to…." Barry paused at this, then force himself to continue, "…due to Kara. The two of you aren't exactly best friends. More like the opposite now." Barry said.
"Well, that figures," Mila stated, addressing both now. "She hates me, and you're married to her."
"She doesn't hate you," Barry defended his wife at this.
"Yeah, right," Mila said.
"Mila, pot calling the kettle black?" Amelia voiced. "You clearly don't have good feelings for Kara either. Can you blame her for not having good feelings to you?"
"Besides, she doesn't hate you. She just… doesn't understand you," Barry added in.
"I don't understand her. I used to idolize her – especially when I found out who she was," Mila used to be a big Supergirl fan, and when she found out Kara was Supergirl, she was obsessed with the woman, but times had long since changed.
"You did a lot of damage," Barry pointed out, thinking to the whole Enchantress affair, not to mention the jailbreak she instigated on Mutant Earth.
"And I'm being punished for that," Mila pointed out. "Surely Kara can move on from that?"
"Can you move on though?" Barry asked.
"What do you mean?" Mila paused at this.
"Look, Mila, you're my sister and I love you, but I have Kara and girls – and more kids on the way. You're not on good terms with any of them. You need to try with Kara," Barry explained. "I'm sorry, but if you want to be involved in my life you can't be picking fights and hating my wife."
"Besides the very obvious rhyme, he is right," Amelia said.
"I'm not picking fights," Mila pointed out. "The first time I saw you after I left was the other day with the Totem. Besides, you chose her over me," Mila countered, nodding to Amelia.
"I didn't choose her over you. I chose love and you choose to leave," Barry said.
"I… well, Crystal does want to meet Zari and her sister, plus she missed out on her own sister's kids for a few years, so it would be nice to meet the newborns," Mila pointed out, realizing the two were waiting for an actual answer. "Yes, okay, so long as she civil to me."
"Barry, you have the full bond with Kara, is that something that can be done?" Amelia asked
"I can talk to her," Barry reasoned.
"That's progress," Amelia pointed out, realizing the two had a long way to go to work on their relationship but they might have gotten some issues out of the way. "Do you like Universal Studios?" she added to Mila.
"What?" Mila was surprised by the change of tact. "I don't… I've never been."
"Maybe we can go some time," Amelia pointed out. "They have a massive Harry Potter Park on my world. Plus, Jurassic World rides."
"I do like Potter," Mila smirked at this. Amelia smiled back. "But my break is over. Once this Loom thing is done, maybe then I can come over and see the family? Bring Crystal over too? Arrange Universal," she nodded to her double at this.
"Of course," Barry grinned now. "I'd love that."
"Oh, and Amaya did suggest you train me with the Death Totem," Mila said to Amelia and Amelia paused at the suggestion.
"Urm, sure, good point," Amelia remarked. Mila, though, gave her big brother a little smile before heading back to work, deciding not to question it further.
"Now I have to convince Kara…" Barry stated, turning to Amelia. "I might have to wait until after the kids are born…"
"Pregnant Karas are intense," Amelia agreed with a little laugh at this. "I've encountered a good few of them," she laughed at the thought. "I'm glad you're breaking ground with Mila though."
"Me too," Barry agreed.
-SuperEarth-
Back at STAR Labs, Alex was in her office, finally doing the online paperwork she needed to catch up on.
It had been a bit of an odd day with Amelia and Nora turning up with their Loom rings, but they'd had much weirder days, she had to admit. Now she needed to catch up on DEO things, particularly the finance toward STAR Labs and its repair.
That was when she was distracted by a strange glow on her desk, now supporting a lily in the dent Kara had made in the metalwork a few years ago.
Pausing, Alex breathed in surprise as the glow subsided to show an intricately designed ring sitting on the desk, it looked pure gold and there were no gems on it, just the metalwork.
"The last piece of the Loom," Alex breathed, knowing exactly what this meant as she reached for the ring. Something told her to put it on, and it fit perfectly. "I guess it's time. I better find John," she stated to herself, about to get out of her seat when the door opened; John, Nora and AJ entering.
"Alex! It's…" John started, but then saw the ring on Alex's finger, "…here," he finished.
"You put it on?" Nora asked.
"I… didn't even realize I had," Alex stated, shaking herself as she looked at the ring now on her finger.
"Mine stopped glowing," Nora explained.
"Amelia's would too then," Alex reasoned, back to business.
"Which means Lachesis, Atropos and Astra will be here soon enough," John sighed.
"We need to figure out where they'd appear," Nora pointed out.
"I can run an algorithm on that. But you have a plan, right?" Alex asked the small group, wondering if it had something to do with AJ.
"We do," John nodded.
"But we still need to talk to Charlie first," Nora added.
"My plan," AJ smirked, hand raised. Alex raised her eyebrow at this.
"Want to tell me about it, or find Charlie first?" Alex asked.
"AJ will," John stated, turning to AJ, "So, AJ, you stay here with Alex; Nora and I will find Charlie, and someone get Amelia back here. All three wearers of fate need to be together for the three rings' sake." John decided. AJ nodded at this as Nora and John turned to leave the room.
So, it had begun.
Post-chapter Note: I was going to include a scene of the Fates turning up on Earth, but that fits better in the last/next chapter. I hope you all enjoyed this one with some Barry/Mila bonding and a bit more of AJ. Next week will be the LAST chapter of SuperEath: Fate, but don't worry, we have more coming in the saga...
