After the announcement of Tamaki's swimming plan for the weekend, time seemed to fly by in an instant, much faster than either Haruhi or Sol wanted. Yesterday, Friday's, club day had flown by, as did the time that Sol and Haruhi spent at home. Both of them had went to sleep, hoping that it had all just been a dream and that going to sleep would wake them up. But that wasn't the case.
At 7 am Haruhi's ringtone went off on her side table. Her phone that the twins had given her a while back sat on the desk, hardly ever used. Now, as Haruhi sleepily pushed herself up to look at the screen of the phone, she saw Hikaru's smiling face, which had been the picture he set for himself before the phone was given to her. With a groan, she opened the flip phone and answered it, hearing the voices of both Hikaru and Kaoru on the other end.
"Haruhi! Are you up yet!"
"We are going swimming today, remember? Get out of bed and get ready!"
With another groan, she set the phone back on the table, not bothering to hang up the phone before she walked tiredly into the other room. She opened the living room door to see Sol in the corner of the room. Despite the fact that sun was coming in through the window, it went over where Sol slept, clouding her in darkness. For a moment Haruhi stared at Sol's sleeping figure, unsure of whether she should even wake Sol up. Did she really want Sol to go swimming, if she even went herself? Even if Sol really was a male, she still had those wounds, which would stir up questions from the other host members. Plus, what if the water did something to the wounds, like infected them or irritated them and made them open? Haruhi didn't want to risk it, but even from where she stood she could hear the loud voices of the twins in her room.
"Hurry up! We are gonna come get you up ourselves if you don't!"
That statement alone pushed Haruhi along, walking over to Sol and leaning down, lightly shaking her shoulder. It took a few moments before Sol's eyes finally started to open. Squinted yellow eyes looked up at Haruhi with a confused look, both tired and ever so slightly irritated.
"Remember yesterday? The 'plan'?"
Remembering the swimming day that the club had planned, Sol let out a tired groan, sitting up in her little bed, being careful not to sit up too quickly. As she started to get up, Haruhi went back to her room, picking up the phone and shushing the twins. "Alright alright, we are getting up. Geez, " she stated before closing the call on the phone, closing the phone and putting her back on the stand.
While Haruhi got dressed in the other room, Sol sat on her bed for a moment, thinking of how this would work out. There were so many risks in just this one day that was suppose to be fun for the club. Sol did love to swim, she really did. But the fact that she was going swimming with guys who thought she was a guy herself and also didn't know about her battle wounds, this was dangerous.
She turned so that she was facing the doorway, grabbing her usual outfit from her box that was meant for clothes. Of course, it only had her old torn clothes and her outfit they had bought not to long ago, but still. She removed her green tank top that she had borrowed from Haruhi, replacing it with the same black undershirt and putting the white button-up over it, leaving the top two buttons undone. She got out of her shorts that she had also borrowed from Haruhi and put on the black pants that came with the outfit. It wasn't exactly the kind of outfit you would see someone wear on a sunny day for swimming, but it was all she had. As she brushed her hair, Haruhi came from her room, seeming to be ready for the day with just a regular shirt and shorts. She did take note of the plastic bag that Haruhi carried, its contents unknown. When the two finally were about to be ready, there was a knock at the door. Confused, Haruhi went and answered the door to find the twins standing there.
"W-What are you guys doing here?! We got up on our own!"
(Using male words for Sol now)
"We were already on our way here when we called you, so it's a bit late for that, " Hikaru joked, picking up Haruhi over his shoulder and turning, going towards the stairs that led down to where a somewhat fancy car was waiting. As Hikaru did that, Kaoru also walked into the apartment, turning around the corner and looking at Sol, who had just finished buttoning his shirt. With a chuckle, he walked over and picked him up like a groom would do to his bride, which was actually lucky for Sol. As much as he didn't want to get carried, at least he didn't throw Sol up over his shoulder or wrap his arm around his torso like he had seen host members do to each other before.
Both Haruhi and Sol were carried out to the car, making sure to close the apartment door before putting the two smaller host members in the back of the vehicle, the brothers climbing in behind them.
On the way to wherever it was they were going, the twins had explained how Tamaki had woke them up early telling them to go get Haruhi and Sol, thinking that the twins would have to make two stops, one to pick up Haruhi and the other to pick up Sol. The twins had also said how they were going to be going to a private pool, another one of those test resorts that Kyoya's family were beginning to open. They also said that the Otori's made sure not to include alligators like last time, which was a big shock to Sol, but they acted as if it was nothing.
Soon, the car had arrived in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. They were surrounded by woods, but were still dropped off there. While the four stood confused, they suddenly saw something that threw them all off. The forest opened, like a door. A part of the scenery literally got cut, opening up outwards to reveal Kyoya and the other members of the club. That was when Sol and the others realized: the forest scene was painted on the outside of the building to make it look natural. They didn't add in gators for safety, so they had to completely hide the entire building itself? Even though that wasn't the best of ideas, it was also clever. The four of them went into the building with the other hosts, seeing a setting similar to the first resort they had gone to. A large pool, as well as a few current pools, all with brick flooring around them. There were restrooms, umbrellas and chairs, as well as a little place to get fancy drinks.
Really, it was amazing. It was unlike any pool Sol had been to, so he felt excited. For a moment, he forgot everything that he and Haruhi had been worried about, looking at all the pools and the nice place that was currently limited only for their use. As he looked at the pools, he glanced over into the pool directly in front of him, looking down to see his own reflection. It was when he suddenly realized that he was letting his face seem feminine that he remembered. Hide my gender. Hide my wounds. He then backed away from the pool, turning back to see an unexpected sight. Just about every member of the club except for Kyoya and Haruhi had their shirts off and swim trunks on, all preparing to go swimming. He also noticed that Haruhi had on different clothes, most likely ones that were hiden under the ones she came there in. She now had on a swimsuit top, which didn't show anything except for her arms, her neck, and the very top of her chest, which wasn't much. But she had on shorts that a boy would usually wear to swim. Did she really plan on swimming? I thought she was on my side!
As he thought this, he watched Honey and Mori run passed him and jump into the pool. He also watched with amusement as the twins pushed Tamaki into the pool together, both laughing as he flailed in the water. Kyoya had went over to one of the umbrellas, laying back on one of the chairs, one of the few times that he ever saw Kyoya put that book of his down. He also saw Haruhi walk over under a different umbrella, also laying on a chair.
While he watched all this go down, he also saw Hikaru trot passed him towards Haruhi, trying to pull her towards the pool. That was when he felt someone grab his wrist, pulling him back.
"Come on Sol! You have to swim to!" Kaoru tugged at his arm with a chuckle, pulling Sol towards the pool.
"No! Stop Kaoru! I don't want to swim, " Sol said frantically, pulling back as hard as he could but not having as much strength as Kaoru seemed to have. Sol then felt himself begin to panic. For one, he was wearing his clothes that he had came here in, which were his favorite ones, which he also didn't want ruined. That, and he didn't know how his wounds would react to the water. He then pulled his arm back in a quick motion, beginning to stumble backwards, his heart skipping a beat for a moment as the thought of his wounds opening came into his mind. He then felt a pair of hands grab his arms, pulling him back to balance, which was once again Kaoru.
"Sol? Are you okay? You're acting strange, " Kaoru stated, still holding onto his arms. Sol was still slightly shaken up from nearly getting thrown into the pool and almost falling, but he regained himself as he saw Haruhi get thrown into the pool in the background. Now it was time for an excuse.
"I...um...these aren't my swimming clothes! I just got these not to long ago, so I don't want to ruin them. I need to get changed first, " Sol said, hoping that throwing out the best excuse he had worked. Even though Kaoru looked somewhat worried, he let go of Sol's arms, then returning to his smiling self. "Hurry up then!"
Sol quickly went over to where Haruhi had set the bag from earlier, looking inside at the contents. Thankfully, it was a simple t-shirt and a pair of swim shorts. Sol took the bag and headed towards the restrooms, but stopped. Which one should I go in? They would get suspicious if they saw me come out of the girl's bathroom... As he thought this, he went into the boy's bathroom, closing the door behind him and starting to get changed. But how was this going to work? I've swam in regular clothes before. It isn't hard to see bras and underwear through regular clothes, no matter color. Should I...? I don't know...
As Sol started changing, he could still hear voices in the distance, but ignored them. As he started to get the shirt on, the bathroom door opened. As much as Sol wanted to freeze in place, his very first instinct was to hide.
(Back to girl words, just for this scene)
Unfortunately for Sol, the restroom stalls didn't seem to have doors yet, or maybe that was just the way that boy's restrooms worked? Either way, Sol was in the middle of the bathroom when the door opened. She quickly put the shirt she was about to put on over the front of her, glancing back to see auburn hair. "Kaoru! Get out, now!"
Kaoru turned his head suddenly, surprised by Sol's outburst and the fact that "he" was standing in the middle of the bathroom with no shirt. The first thing that he noticed was the fact that there were bandages wrapped around Sol's torso and arms. With a confused face, he took a few steps forward. "Sol? What happened to yo-"
"Get out! Right now! Leave!"
As Kaoru became more confused, he glanced down at the ground, where he saw a certain piece of clothing that he knew only girls wore, minus people like Haruhi's dad. When he saw the article of clothing, his face turned a bright shade of red and he quickly turned around. "S-Sol?! W-What is going on!?"
Sol put on the shirt as quickly as she could, the shorts already on her from when she first got in the restroom. She hurried up and put her other clothes in the back, knotting the top of the bag as much as she could. When she was done, she just stood there, not daring to look at Kaoru. They both stood in silence for a moment, neither looking at each other or speaking.
After a minute or two, Kaoru slightly turned his head, not looking at Sol but finally spoke. "Um...a-are you dressed?"
"...yeah."
Kaoru slowly turned his head, looking at Sol who had her head down in shame, the bag at her feet and her arms covering her chest.
"So...you're a girl...like Haruhi?"
Sol only nodded, not saying another word. As embarrassed as they both were, Kaoru tried his best to hold himself together. This was similar to when the club found out about Haruhi, only Haruhi had a small shirt on when she was revealed. For Kaoru, this was a big surprise, but he managed to calm himself before speaking again.
"I'm sorry for walking in on you. If I would have known...I wouldn't have walked in."
Even though Sol showed recognition to what he said, she still didn't speak.
"Ignoring that, what are those bandages for? Did you get hurt?"
Sol debated on whether she should tell him. She did trust him, but not enough to tell him all of this. Not yet. He already knew both of her secrets, so there wasn't much she could do.
Letting out a sigh, Kaoru approached Sol, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Look, I won't tell anyone else about what I saw or about you. But you have to promise that you will tell me everything the next time we get the chance, okay? I want to help you."
This time Sol glanced up at him, water balling up near the edges of her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away.
"Promise you won't tell?"
Kaoru nodded, giving Sol a ruffle of the hair and turning, leaving the restroom.
