Hermione was walking down the stairs to the common room when she heard a commotion.
"You heard what he was saying, he's got it out for her Harry!"
"I know what he said, but Ron, I think you might be over-reacting just a little"
"I'm not, he's planning something, I know it, something big"
Their voices became quieter as they walked outside the common room and Hermione sat down next to Ginny who was talking to Dean and Seamus.
"Hey Gin"
"Oh, hi Hermione" she said with a grin
They went through the obligatory hellos to everyone at the table before Hermione got Ginny's attention, "Ginny, do you know what Harry and Ron were talking about?"
"'Fraid not… however I did hear that it was something to do with Malfoy, I mean Draco, and apparently he is out to get someone."
Hermione looked to the ground examining my shoes, suddenly desperate to get away "I see. I think I'll go down for breakfast"
"Okay…" Ginny said, eyes questioning, "see you later."
While walking down to the great hall she fiddled with her cardigan, trying to predict Draco's actions, yet came to an impasse. Malfoy's unpredictable, I just need to be on guard. As she entered the great hall she rushed over to Harry and Ron and sat down opposite them. In this position she was facing the Slytherin table.
"Morning you two"
"Morning Mione" they chorused.
"So what have you two been up to?"
"Oh nothing much" they glanced at each other then carried on eating their breakfast.
"I am going to pretend that nothing is going on, but by the way, I overheard you two speaking a few minutes ago."
"I told Ron that he was being stupid" Harry said apologetically
"Why couldn't you have just told me though, surely I have a right to know if Draco is doing something that will include me?"
"I was just trying to look out for you" Ron said, leaning forward slightly.
"Right."
Hermione stiffened, feeling presence behind her. But when she turned around nobody was there. I am getting way too paranoid. She turned back round to finish off her breakfast, and downed her pumpkin juice in one gulp.
"Hermione wait"
"What is it?"
"Don't go out on your own"
"Really Ron, are we seriously talking about this?"
"I just don't want you being alone in the library"
"Look Ronald, Malfoy himself probably started those rumours to scare me and stop me from going out, or anywhere!"
"Humour me, alright? Just stick with me and Harry, just for today?"
"Fine" but as Hermione sat back down she felt a prickling on her neck. As she looked across at the Slytherin table Draco caught her gaze and raised an eyebrow. She frowned at him, which provoked a further smirk. Perhaps it won't be too bad sticking around with Ron and Harry today after all, it isn't like they'll be my body guards, just… witnesses…
.
Draco would never do anything to Hermione without provocation… but she did dye his hair, or at least he thinks she did. Yesterday afternoon Draco's hair had gone back to normal, but up till then he had been teased and laughed at; not something a Malfoy takes well. Ron's right, he's going to want payback.
I glanced over to Hermione who suddenly seemed very downcast,
"Hermione, what's wrong?"
"I just miss him so much?"
"What?"
"I made a horrible mistake"
"Ok start from the start, what on earth are you talking about?"
"In the sixth year I took this really hot boy to a party, but I was horrible to him, and hid from him all night." She then buried her face in her hands and mumbled to herself "Why would I do that? Why, why, why, why, why!" she accompanied each 'why' with a hit to her head
"Hermione are you talking about who I think you are talking about?"
"Cormac of course! Dear Cormac, why did you let me do that to him, Harry!" she then leaned forward, her eyes thundery and smacked Harry on the side of the head.
"Ow!"
"My life isn't complete without him!" Hermione's eyes suddenly darted up towards the great hall doors. "There he is!" she beamed "I'm going to tell him, I made a mistake and we should be together!"
"Wait Hermione, no!" I leaned forward to grab her arm to stop her but she was already racing towards him
"CORMAC!" she shouted
McLaggen looked up to look Hermione, he smirked, "ah so you have finally come to your senses. You want a real man, you're tired of Potter and Weasley."
"Yes, I am, I'm sorry Cormac, all I want is you!"
"I'm afraid you'll have to do better than that Granger"
"I'll do anything, what do you want me to do, to prove myself?"
Cormac seemed to ponder a moment and then said "kiss me." Hermione didn't even hesitate, she bounded into his arms and snogged him senseless in front of the whole school.
Harry turned to look over at Ron who was gaping at the scene open mouthed, looking round the room that was pretty much what everyone was doing, all except two. Draco and Blaise, they were leaning on each other covering up peals of laughter, Draco was just about falling off the bench. Harry looked back over to Hermione and found that she was still snogging McLaggen. He stood up, having enough, and pulled Hermione off him.
"Harry, what are you doing?" Hermione said angrily
"What do you mean what am I doing? What are you doing?"
"I'm showing my true feelings to Cormac!"
"Ugh, come on let's go" Harry grabbed onto both Hermione and Ron and started walking.
"No Harry!" Hermione shoved my arm away "I'm not leaving" she started shouting "I love him!"
"Yeah, leave her alone mate" McLaggen sneered; "the lady knows what she wants" he slung an arm about her waist and walked out the great hall.
After a moment Harry turned back round to face the great hall, every student and staff member were dead silent. It was very eerie until Draco and Blaise finally gave in and their loud guffaws echoed around the room.
Oh dear, what do you think? I'm pretty sure you know what's happened ;)
