Mellie is sitting in her car outside of Nick's house trying to get up the courage to go to the door. She can't help but wonder if she should do as his cousin advised, which was to give him some space. She's called him several times, but he still has her blocked, and even though Alex said earlier when they spoke she'd let her in, suddenly now she isn't answering the phone.
White contemplating what to do and staring at her phone she sees a social media alert. When she clicks the notification she sees pictures of Edison and Jasmine at the Gala, arm and arm. She smiles as she says to herself, good for you Edison. That's likely sticking in Olivia's craw to see her ex and another woman making front page news. She starts feeling her anger rising as she recounts how she felt when she saw the picture of Olivia and Fitz. How could they possibly think hooking up is acceptable? How could they do this to her?
Distracted, she looks up when she hears a car driving away, and she gets a glimpse of the car as it passes her. She smacks her teeth as she says, "Damn, that was Cam. He could've let me in if I wasn't consumed with the bullshit my so called friends are putting me through."
Her irritation increases the more she thinks about it, but she knows she has to focus on what she came over here to do. Nick is going to talk to her. He can't block her if she's standing in his face.
After convincing herself she's got the right to get answers, even if the person who owes them to her isn't willing to give any, she makes her way to the house and knocks on the door. However, after knocking for a few minutes she doesn't get an answer. Remembering the big picture window peers into the living room, she steps over to take a peek and sees Alex is in the kitchen cooking. So, she calls her phone again. This time she watches as Alex picks up the phone and looks at it while she's calling her, and again she doesn't answer. In fact she sees a smirk on her face and an eye roll to boot as she puts the phone back on the counter and turns around, continuing to cook.
She can't believe what she just saw; so she calls her again while simultaneously banging on the window. And this time she sends a text while calling her saying, "I can see you." Suddenly, her and Alex lock eyes. A fake smile spreads across Alex's her face and she comes to the doo; but she only opens the inner door and leaves the screen locked as she delivers her message in the most nonchalant tone ever as she says, "Hey Mellie, sorry but Nick doesn't want to see you and he doesn't want you in the house."
She thinks to herself, so we are just going to act like I didn't just see you dodging my call? But decides to stay on task as she takes a breath and responds, "I need to see him so we can talk. Just tell him I'm here. We can talk on the porch if need be."
She gives her a look of pure disinterest and Mellie can feel the generation of a bullshit reply afoot, but she calms her thoughts, she knows she can't lose her cool if she wants to get to talk to him. So she gives a pleading appeal as she says, "Come on Alex, I know you've been in my shoes before. Help a sister out; I'd do it for you if you needed me to help you patch things up with Cam. Plus you even said before you'd let me in if I came over; you can't welch on a promise."
She takes a breath as she says, "Look, I feel for you Mellie. And I know what I said, but I don't want to do anything that would upset the vibe of the household. So, I can't let you in and to be honest I don't want anyone to know I am even talking to you, so please don't call me anymore. Take care." Before she can respond the door closes in her face, and she's left standing out on the porch.
Completely shocked by what just transpired. This is total bullshit, she thinks and she refuses to let it go.. Something about this situation isn't right. And she is demanding to find out what the deal is and get the answers she came here for.
After standing on the porch near the door for several minutes, trying to come up with her next step. She remembers the spare key; and when she goes over to the statue it's taped to the bottom as it should be. She grabs the key and waits for Alex to finish cooking and go to her and Cam's room, which is next to the kitchen on the first floor. And once she's in the room she can use the key to get inside the house, slipping up the steps to Nick's room to see him.
Making sure she doesn't raise suspicion, she goes to her car to give Alex the impression she left, and then goes back to the door 10 minutes later. She looks through the living room window first and sees the downstairs is empty. Happy to put her plan into action, she uses the extra key to get into the house.
When she gets inside the house the remnants of cooked bacon is floating in the air, and she hears music coming from behind Alex and Cam's closed bedroom door.
She takes a moment to get her head straight as she tries to get her words together. She has no idea what she is going to say, but it has to be good if she stands a chance of making amends.
As she walks up the steps she's going through what she wants to say and by the time she reaches the top of the steps she hears a woman giggling and a smack on bare skin. When she rounds the corner she sees Alex and Nick walking toward her, with Alex pantless and Nick shirtless.
Alex is in front of Nick and closest to Mellie and she sees the color drain from Mellie's face. Nick wonders why Alex stops short and then realizes Mellie is standing at the top of the steps. Immediately he flies into a rage as he yells, "What are you doing here? She replies, "I wanted to talk to you. You'd know that if you took my call." He scoffs, how'd you even get in? Did you break in? She responds, "No, I used the spare key. Because again, I needed to talk to you. But I can see now that was a mistake!" He responds, "Yeah a big one. You need to leave! I don't want you here! As a matter of fact, I don't want you at all!"
She hears him, but she starts to focus on what she sees in front of her. Instantly it clicks. Her mind is settling with what she's just walked in on, but she can't find the words to speak.
Alex and Nick are both standing in front of Mellie looking at her, and she's completely silent. But her face is telling a thousand tales, her eyes are bulged and tears are running down her cheeks. Her fists are clenched and her stance is broad, as she blocks the hallway.
Suddenly Nick is starting to feel the tension thickening and he's getting uncomfortable. She isn't saying anything, she's just glaring at both of them. They're both freaking out at her silence and Alex yells, "Can you say something?" Mellie replies, "Like what? How long have you two been fucking right under my nose? Or here's one for you Nick; did you ever care about me or was it always about the gifts I bought you and bills I paid for you?"
They're both standing there looking at her in complete silence after hearing the questions she posed, and she's not having it. She yells, "I know you both heard me. Somebody needs to talk!" The urgency in her voice has them both on edge as Alex says, "It's nothing personal Mellie, It's just something we do." She scoffs, "Is that supposed to make me feel better, knowing that you're just randomly fucking each other regardless of you both having relationships with other people? You are two sick fucks!" Nick gets mad as he replies, "Fuck you!" She smirks as she says, "That's about all you know how to do isn't it? Can't balance a checkbook to save your life, but you can slang dick like the best of them!"
Nick steps toward her and says, "Get the fuck out of my house you pretentious little bitch!" But to his surprise she doesn't back down as she leans toward bim and says, "My pleasure, right after I take every fucking thing my pretentious money bought your worthless ass!" Catching him off guard she blows past him heading into his room, and she locks the door behind her. He's banking on the door, "What the hell are you doing? Get out of my room!" She replies, "I will, once I get all of my shit back! This pretentious little bitch isn't feeling very charitable, asshole!"
He's madder than hell that she's locked him out of his room, and yelling and screaming for her to open the door. She's ignoring him as she takes her time packing all of the clothes and electronics she purchased for him in the Louboutin duffle she bought. Once she's done or at least feels like she's sufficiently recovered the majority of her things, she opens the window and slides the bag down the side of the roof where it lands in the garbage can below.
Just as she turns to walk toward the door, it opens. He's picked the lock to get inside. And to his surprise she doesn't have anything in her hand. He's thoroughly confused, and glances around the room while he asks, "What were you doing in here?" She blows past him once again as she replies, "I already answered that question, good-bye." By the time he realizes what's been taken she's already made it down the steps and to the garbage can to collect her bag. He makes it outside just as she's getting in the car and by the time he makes it to the street she's pulling away. She can see him in her rear view mirror in the middle of the street jumping up and down, and hear him cursing her as she drives away and it makes her smile. Now she just has to figure out what to do next, because going home isn't an option.
