A/N: I'm back (FINALLY!) My deepest apologies for the wait. I hope you enjoy it! I still don't own the Avengers (even after all this time!)

The God of Thunder carefully adjusted his bowtie as he scrutinized his reflection in the large mirror that leaned against the wall of his bedroom in Stark Tower.

"Are you really going to wear a bow tie?" Clint asked with a smirk from behind the god. Both Steve and Tony frowned.

"It looks nice," the super soldier said with a hint of a groan directed at the archer.

"Besides, bowties are cool," the man of iron stated casually as he clapped his hand on the nicely dressed thunderer. Thor smiled good-naturedly. There was an exaggerated sigh from behind them as the God of Mischief gracefully attempted to exit the room.

"Loki." Thor's voice was low and full of warning. The younger god stopped and glared at him.

"I am not planning on messing anything up, Thor," Loki spat. The Mighty Avenger turned to fully face his adopted brother.

"I am not letting you out of my sight while Jane is here."

"And what exactly is it that you expect me to do to the mortal woman?!" Loki's voice was beginning to rise as he gestured with his arms in exaggerated manner. Thor took a step closer to the Trickster.

"Do not speak so lowly of Jane," the older god growled. The younger god rolled his eyes.

"Insulting her is not my intention." Loki paused, glancing anxiously around the room at the other male Avengers. "May I speak with you alone for a moment, Thor?" His voice fortunately remained calm. Thor blinked. The younger god seemed to be sincerely bothered by something. With a nod, the God of Thunder dismissed the others. Loki wasted no time speaking his mind. "Are you sure of your feelings for Jane?"

"Of course I am. Loki, what is this about?"

"You will outlive her. Compared to your life span, hers is but a heartbeat. You'll never be ready." Silence fell between them.

"Loki…must you try to vanquish all of my happi-," The Trickster abruptly pulled him closer, careful not to disrupt his neatly tucked in shirt.

"Do you love her – truly love her enough to make it through the pain of out-living her? Because if you don't, I cannot sit idly whilst your heart is broken and the sun is torn from your sky by grey clouds of anguish. I do not trust myself to forgive anyone who would cause you such despair."

Thor's words caught in his throat. He gently pulled Loki into a hug.

"I do love her. But I must point out that you have been my biggest cause of despair." He chuckled light-heartedly. The ex-villain allowed a playful smirk to form on his face.

"Yes, well, I am the only one allowed to cause you grief." He smiled at the mighty Avenger. "Come now, we shouldn't keep your lady waiting."

On the other side of the Avengers' suite in Stark Tower, Natasha did her best not to smirk as she listened to Jane's ranting.

"Two years – TWO FREAKING YEARS, and does he call? NO. And to add salt to the wound he's been living on earth for a while now, and I had no idea!"

The Black Widow had never seen someone put make up on so angrily. She and Pepper exchanged worried glances.

"Are you sure you still want to date him then?" The CEO of Stark Industries asked tentatively.

"Of course I do! I love him – I just feel like an idiot!" The physicist exclaimed as she forcefully applied her blush.

"Well love is for children…" Pepper not-so-gently shoved Natasha. Jane just hmphed as she put the finishing touches on.

Back in the living room the others waited quietly. Loki made his way to the kitchen to procure some much needed Nutella. He abruptly stopped when an odd shiver went down his spine. He inhaled as if to sneeze.

"Hey, you better not be turning into a cat again!" Tony said with great worry. Suddenly both Loki and Thor sneezed harshly at the same time.

"Bless you." Steve and Bruce said at the same time.

"Thank you, my friends," Loki said.

"Wait, what?" Thor sounded confused. Loki quickly turned to face the older god.

"Loki?!" The supposed God of Mischief asked in a panicked voice.

"Thor….?" The supposed God of Thunder sounded genuinely confused.

"Did you two just-," Tony was about to ask, but Clint interrupted him.

"You two just switched bodies!" The gods looked at each other in horror. They could hear the door to Natasha's room abruptly open down the hall. Thor, in Loki's body, quickly dragged his adopted brother back into the thunderer's room.

"Change us back right now!" He demanded. A perplexed look spread on his face as Loki attempted to pull his thoughts together.

"I did not do this."

"Brother-,"

"I swear Thor." They stared each other down for a few moments.

"What are we going to do?" the Mighty Avenger asked.

"I suppose we must act natural and as if nothing is wrong?" the Trickster suggested. A sudden wave of nausea washed over both of them. They could hear a strange swooshing noise, and they reverted back to their own bodies. Loki breathed a sigh of relief. "Or that could happen," he said with a dazzling grin. They calmly proceeded to join everyone else in the living room. In an attempt to lighten the mood, Loki approached Jane. "I do not believe we have been formally introduced."

Without warning, Jane punched him right in the face.

"I know who you are."

"Oof….you're going to fit in around here…" Loki was legitimately taken by surprise. Thor looked on in slight horror – Jane was far from being happy. She turned to the Thunderer, pointing angrily at him.

"There better not be any magic shenanigans happening tonight," she said in a tone not to be messed with. Thor held his hands up in defense.

"Jane, my love, I assur- I swear to you that no such 'shenanigans' will take place." He gently grabbed her out-stretched hand. He suddenly felt a shiver again and briefly heard his brother utter a profanity. The other Avengers were the only ones that seemed to have noticed the gods switch bodies.

"Thor? Are you okay?" Jane asked, scrutinizing his face in a suspicious manner. Thank the universe that Loki was the silvertounge that he was.

"Of course, I am simply lost in your beauty. Come, let us celebrate our love by feasting the fine delicacies of Midg-Earth…" The Trickster almost faltered having momentarily forgotten that Thor always refers to this realm as Earth and not Midgard. Jane didn't seem to notice. Without another word, she grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the suite and onto the elevator. Thor, in Loki's body, just stood there, horrified. He turned to the others.

"What do we do?! Loki cannot date my Jane!" He cried out in distress.

"Wait, what exactly is going on?" Natasha questioned.

"It seems Thor and Loki are having a freaky Friday," Clint explained with a smirk.

"We should follow them," the Widow stated in a business-like manner. Steve nodded and clapped his hand against Thor's shoulder in support.

. . .

Loki was panicking internally. He was still in Thor's body, and he and Jane had just arrived at the same restaurant where he had once accidentally dated Amora. He was doing everything he could to ensure that Jane didn't notice that it was him and not Thor. Once seated at a small yet charming table towards the back of the restaurant, Loki devoted the majority of his attention to his menu. Before Jane could say anything, their waiter appeared at the table.

"Would you like to have the house special to start off the meal?" he said enthusiastically as he held out a menu of alcoholic beverages. Loki made the conscious effort to grin – Thor always smiled bigger than the Trickster could really ever manage.

"That sounds lovely, Tom," he said in a cheery tone (being Thor was quickly getting harder) noticing the waiter's nametag. Tom beamed happily and then gasped in shock.

"Oh my goodness, you're Thor!" he literally squeaked in excitement. Jane raised her eyebrows and sighed in thinly veiled annoyance. "I am your biggest fan! Oh my, you are so lucky miss to be with a guy like him-," Loki cut him off.

"I think we are ready to order. I will have the large platter of premium steak, and my Jane?" His brother's lover seemed grateful for the interruption of Tom's fanboying.

"I would like the sea bass please." Tom nodded and bashfully left to fulfill their order. "That guy is so weird," she said as soon as he was out of hearing range.

"Indeed, he was…fanatic to say the least." Loki suddenly noticed Natasha peek around the corner a few yards away from their table; Thor was behind her, still trapped in his body. The Thunderer looked quite sad – Loki internally grimaced at the pitiful look that was on his face. His face was too beautiful to have such a look on it. Thor watched them like a hawk the entire dinner. He was very surprised how well Loki behaved himself – Jane seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself. The only problem he had was controlling the magic within Loki's body – he was used to housing all of his power in Mjolnir. Natasha kept cursing at him in Russian every time he almost set the establishment on fire (which happened more times than he would care to admit.)

Near the end of their meal, Jane took control and went in for a kiss – Loki panicked but knew that she would be furious with Thor if she was denied such an action. He glanced at the older god, and Thor nodded hesitantly. The God of Mischief kept his composure as their lips connected. The familiar shivers suddenly tore through the gods' bodies. With a pop they returned to their own bodies. Loki, now in the safety of his gorgeous body, fell to his knees and silently exclaimed his relief. Jane was pleasantly surprised as Thor deepened their kiss. Natasha simply just shook her head, glad that the crisis seemed to have been averted.
