Allen woke up in the back of a caravan - Johnny crying hysterically, loudly worrying that General Tiedoll had captured them and was taking them back to the Order. Link was asleep in the corner, and Kanda sat next to him - unconscious with bandages around his eyes.

After a while, Allen finally processed what was happening and immediately sat up alert. Tiedoll opened the curtain at the exact moment; somehow, he could detect that Allen was awake.

"Did you enjoy the ride O wanted, man Allen?"

"General! Please! I cannot return to the Order; I'm dangerous to everyone there!"

Link woke up with a start at the word danger and saw that Allen was speaking with Tiedoll. It wasn't long before Allen's innocence flares up when Tiedoll mentions exorcists coming.

"Walker", Tiedoll's voice was calm despite how intimidating Allen looked, with innocence activated at full force.

"Exorcists surround us; you will need my help getting you out of here. Especially with Kanda injured so severely."

Allen turned sharply to see, but because of Kanda's bandaged eyes, no one could tell if he was awake, but his skin had an unusual pale pallor.

"What happened to Kanda?"

There was a cough, and Link, beside the samurai, gently helped him upright.

"Moyashi, what the fuck is on your tail?"

Kanda's voice was more profound than usual despite its hoarseness, which was much scarier than how he usually sounded. Johhny suppressed a shudder as Kanda continued.

"Whatever it is, it's why you ran from the Order, and you've been trying to avoid getting caught, right?"

Allen's jaw was tight, he never liked lying, but before he could think of what to say, Link spoke next.

"It killed the golem, Walker..."

Kanda lifted his arm slowly, undoing the bandages and his midnight blue eyes, presently swollen, observed Allen. Out of the corner of his eye, Johnny sees Tiedoll pulling out a jar of what he thinks is salt and set it down in the caravan for all to notice.

"I couldn't save him. Tim was trying to protect you, Moyashi."

Johhny could feel a sense of dread coming over him, "T-that jar...was that Tim-campy?"

Link and Kanda nodded, and Allen thought he would be sick.

"Moyashi, that human-shaped innocence...what does it want with you? Is it trying to kill you?"

Allen met eyes with Kanda, still reeling from Timcampy's death. He deactivated his innocence and forced his body to relax into a sitting position because he wasn't sure what to do.

Suddenly, the caravan toppled as a flash of red crashed into the vehicle. Immediately, everyone turned alert, thinking it must be an enemy, but when the caravan got its balance back, everyone recognized who it was instantly.

"Amber!"

The girl didn't answer them; first, she scanned her surroundings, her posture vigilant and poised to strike if necessary. She was dressed in the red and black uniform this time - absent of her father's coat.

When she finally spoke, it shook with evident anger, her expertly braided ponytail swinging. "What in the hell happened? You knuckleheads were supposed to be home hours ago!"

"Things happened..." muttered Johnny, looking at the jar of ashes.

Amber frowned, following his line of sight and her eyes widened.

Those weren't ordinary ashes...it was a particular colour, which means it's-

The redhead covered her mouth with her right hand, and her eyes closed in grief when Timmy, her golem, came out from her knapsack.

Lavi had just entered the caravan from the hole Amber made when he saw Timmy flying in a circle above the girl's head - presumably frantic. He observes Christa and Yumi also emerge from the knapsack to approach Timmy, trying to comfort him.

Lavi watched, surprised that the silver golem was shedding tears. After getting over the shock, he comes closer to Amber and places his hands on her shoulders to comfort her. Lavi could not hide the surprise on his face seeing Amber's eyes open slightly, crying silent tears. He hugs her from behind, and Amber buries her face in his arm, saying softly that Timcampy and been in her life since she was born.

"Amber"

The redhead turned with tear-streaked cheeks as Allen met eyes with her. "I am so sorry, Timcampy-"

"No, please, don't apologize. Timcampy was always loyal to my father and his family. You are family too, Allen. I suspect he was trying to protect you."

Allen nodded his head solemnly, he wanted to comfort his little sister, but his body felt tired, and Lavi didn't seem ready to let go of her anytime soon. He turned his head to see Kanda, and the samurai was visibly gritting his teeth, but his eyes were closed. He suspected it took a lot out of Kanda to make eye contact with him earlier; the pain around and behind his eyes must have hurt like hell.

Kanda made a fist in his hand when he saw Lavi's arms around Amber's petite waist tighten as Lavi kissed the back of her head. Amber didn't react to that, and it irritated her boyfriend immensely.

Link watched all this quietly; Link and Johnny then decided to use the time to update Lavi and Amber (Chapter 225); they explained that Allen had met the Earl by chance causing the 14th to take over his body. Link was intercepted by a Noah further away, but when the 14th tried to activate Allen's innocence - it drove the creepy-tongued Noah to flee his fight with Link to whisk the Earl away from his line of fire, angering the 14th. Johnny had wandered onto the rooftop seeing this, causing the 14th to lose consciousness and fall. Johnny jumped off the roof, trying to catch Allen's body, and miraculously, Allen's innocence activated, and Crown Clown saved the two of them. While Allen was still out of it, Johnny and Link were captured by Kanda and thrown into Tiedoll's caravan.

Amber digested all this information slowly, her back against Lavi's chest as they sat together, irking the samurai. He forced his eyes open every so often as Link and Johnny made their report, only to see Lavi practically salivating at her closeness and touching her hair and arms every so often.

This asshole...

"Kit, c'mere", Kanda groaned, his voice still hoarse.

Amber turns and sees Kanda sitting there, facing but his eyes closed but abnormally swollen, "Yuu?"

She breaks away from Lavi and walks over to sit in the samurai's lap, his large hands moving to rest on her thighs as she takes his face in her smaller hands.

"What happened?"

He tilts his head, resting his cheek in her palm, "I tried to fight the guy that killed the golem; I barely made it out alive, Kit. I'm glad you're here."

Lavi and Amber couldn't hide their shock. Apocryphos killed Timcampy and almost killed Kanda too. Amber rested her forehead against Kanda's, inwardly thanking God for not taking the samurai away from her.

"Kanda's injuries are severe. Could you heal him?"

Link's sudden voice jolted Amber out of her silent prayer, and she immediately faced him with an alarmed expression, "W-what injuries? Has he received any treatment? How bad-"

"Kit"

She turns to him, and he moves his calloused hands to hold hers, "Don't panic, Tiedoll patched me up, and the Crow guy did what he could. Im still hurt, but I'll live."

Amber frowned, "The skin under your eyes is inflamed, and your left eye is twitching the way it does when you feel a migraine coming on, you're not fine. Please let me heal you."

Link nodded in agreement, "There was only so much I could treat Kanda; you have to be in immense pain right now-"

"Healing takes a lot out of her. I'm all right." snapped the samurai.

She shakes her head at his stubbornness, "Yuu, please."

Kanda says nothing; he tilts his head to kiss her hand and fingers, "I'm alive, and with you, there's nothing else I need right now."

Johnny and Allen watch Amber pout irritably then they become open-mouthed when the girl kisses Kanda out of nowhere. They watched as Kanda's ears turned slightly reddish, maybe embarrassed that she was kissing him so openly.

Lavi turned his head at this, his chest hurt seeing Amber kissing a man that wasn't him but then Johnny said something that caught his attention.

"Is it me, or is Kanda's complexion getting better?"

Lavi turned back. This time, Kanda's hands were on Amber's waist - kissing her back, the redness under his eyes disappearing and his skin returning to its normal, tanned tone.

He watches them break apart, Amber's hands moving to rest on his chest as she kisses his nose, her forehead against his. "Slowly open your eyes."

Everyone watches Kanda struggle for a while, trying, but it is to no avail; his arms then wrap around Amber's middle as he buries her face in her neck.

"Kit, it hurts too fucking much."

It didn't go unnoticed by the group that although he couldn't open his eyes, Kanda's voice was back to normal, smooth and husky.

Amber moves her head, forcing Kanda to lift his, and he feels his pulse quicken as Amber kisses both his eyelids, a strange warmth washing over his eyes, and he opens them slowly - it was all a coloured blur at first. Still, gradually he recognizes the others and then Amber smiles at him sweetly.

"Better?"

"I said I was fine, you know..."

Amber kisses his brow, not put off by his expression, "I still wanted to."

"Ahhh, Cross is probably cursing at us right now from his grave; his little girl was shamelessly kissing a man in front of others and still sitting in his lap."

The redhead blushes and hastily tries to get up, but Kanda doesn't let her move; he shoots an angry look at his superior, "Shut up, Tiedoll."

"Now, I was just saying what the rest were thinking," Tiedoll answers quickly, unperturbed by Kanda's expression.

Kanda snorts, pressing his face against Amber's neck again, "She's mine, so we can do whatever we want."

Link couldn't help but hide his smirk behind his fist; Amber's flustered expression was a sight, and Lavi looked practically monstrous in his envy.

It almost made him forget they were trying to escape the Noah clan and Apocyhros.

Link then catches Amber nudging Kanda off to sit next to Allen instead, sticking her tongue out at him childishly, but Kanda isn't angry. Allen looked nervous, worried that Kanda would get upset, but the samurai just gave them a lopsided smirk, and it was clear what he was thinking.

He could never be intimidated by another man when it came to her heart.

She was his, and he was hers. This was clear as day.
