(Chapter Updated 03-02-18: Fixed grammar.)

Hi there everyone!

This is my second time writing this up, my silly computer fritzed :(

I'm very sorry I haven't written an update in a while, but here I am! I went to Animanga Pop! In Plymouth at the weekend dressed as a modern-Zelda (If you Google that you might possibly find some pictures, or there are some on my DA Innamode *Shameless plug*)

So what have I been doing? I received Wind Waker (And a very pretty Zelda Wii-U!) for Christmas and also from my lovely Beta Link234521 (Who's username I STILL need to look up each time) I received Spirit Tracks so I have been busy playing other Zelda games XD Also I have been writing for my other fanfictions which I was meant to finish before starting this one up again but hey, I figured you guys have all waited a fair amount of time XD

So yes! Hopefully I will be able to update this pretty often (I'm thinking once a month maybe…) for you all.

Please enjoy, and don't forget to leave a review!

Chapter 2

The sun rose high in the sky, bathing the surface in bright light and a great hotness that made all the insects cry out together in song. There was very little wind that day, yet the trees that surrounded the clearing moved and rustled almost non-stop.

In the clearing, thirty-one men lay still, but thankfully alive, and fighting off the last throes of a sleeping spell that had knocked them out for a day. In the heat of the mid-day sun, they started to stir.

"Men, wake up!" The first soldier to find his vocal chords called. There was a chorus of groans, and the thirty-one remaining men that made up the 1st Skyloft Platoon started to get up. They had all been knocked out by the magic from the mysterious people that had ambushed them, and upon coming around a new cry went up.

"Where's Link?" One of them called. Panicked, they realised that their leader was no longer there.

"He must've been taken by those things!" another added, referring to the Skyloftian-like people.

"We need to go back to the main settlement," Harley, Link's second in command and by default the new commander added "Headmaster Gaepora will know what to do."

There was a mumble of agreement; Headmaster Gaepora was not only the Headmaster of the new, and currently only, school on the surface, he was also the smartest man around for miles. He knew everything, and had a solution for every problem. The men found their scattered horses and started up the long ride back to the main settlement.

Far from the clearing, Link began to wake up. He let out a groan, and rolled over. His body felt like a sack of bricks, and his head pounded like he had just spent a very, very good night in the Lumpy Pumpkin. As he heaved himself up, he brought a hand up to his forehead only to jerk it away in surprise when he felt how wet it was with perspiration. He quickly wiped it away.

'Was I having a nightmare?' he thought to himself, looking around the strange room he was in. He could remember leaving the small settlement Horii had been in, and coming to the point where their previous excursions had left off. Then, with a heavy heart he remembered they had been ambushed and how he had been knocked out.

That explained the pounding in his head.

He quickly wondered if his men were okay. Had they been captured too? Then, his mind then drifted to Zelda and their twins, Aria and Eric. He closed his eyes and pictured them, happy and smiling. His mind then pictured their faces sad and crying when they found out he was missing. His eyes sprung open, and he shook the image from his head.

He got up out of the bed, and realizing how light he felt, he noticed that his heavy knight uniform had been removed. He had been re-dressed in a rather plain grey tunic with matching trousers. His shoes were gone too, leaving his feet bare. Link pushed away the unsettling thought of someone undressing him, and looked around. The room was actually quite nice, and even though there were no windows the light colours of the walls and furniture made the room quite bright in the light of the torches. There was the bed Link was sat on up against the left wall, a bookcase and wardrobe pushed up against the back wall, and a desk and chair on the right. There was a rather large painting on the wall above the desk, which seemed to be of a scene of three (Quite beautiful, Link decided) women, one clothed in red, another green and the last blue. It was a rather strange painting, and seemed to show them as rather powerful beings. On the final wall, there was a door.

Link stepped forwards slowly, and when he had decided he could walk without falling over he made his way to the door. His hand went to the door handle, and he tried it.

No luck. The door was locked.

With a groan of annoyance, Link turned back to look for any other exits. There were no windows, so that was out. He tried walking around on the floorboards, listening for any creaks that would indicate a loose one that he might be able to find an exit tunnel under. No dice there, either.

Link was about to try moving around the furniture to find hidden doors when he heard the lock on the door turn. Spinning round, he saw the door open and a person enter. Their face was covered with a mask, and they wore a thick scarf around their neck.

"Um, hello there," Link said, trying to keep his tone cheery and polite. Really he wanted to grab them and demand they tell him where he was. The person ignored him, and stepped over the threshold of the room, closing the door behind.

"Right then," Link eyed the person with unease. There was something familiar about them "Could you tell me why I am here?"

Still no answer from the mysterious person. Link walked over to the desk, being careful not to turn away from the person. He knew it was not a good idea to lose patience with one of the people who kept him captive, and especially not one who may hold his life in their hands, but this person was not making it easy.

Link watched the person, who moved around his room slowly, with a sort of captivating grace. Link couldn't take his eyes away.

"Who are you?" Link asked, confused. He could've sworn on his life that he knew this person.

They turned towards him, and in one swift motion they removed their scarf and pulled off their mask. Link met the eyes of the person, and gasped in surprise.

Those blue eyes. That blonde hair. The smooth curves of her face.

Zelda.

"Zelda?" He choked out her name over his surprise. "Wha- What are you doing here? Where are the twins? Are they safe?"

The person, Zelda, held up her hand, and Link look at it in confusion. She spoke a few words in a language Link had never heard, and a blackish tinge coloured the air surrounding her hand before it moved rapidly towards Link, hitting him before he could even blink.

His vision went black as the air, and he felt like he had been submerged in water. He fought to break the surface, kicking his legs and moving his arms. His lungs screamed at him, his head pounding.

His eyes sprung open, his breathing heavy and his body soaked through with perspiration.

"A dream," He gasped, sitting up and putting a hand to his forehead. He wiped the perspiration off. "It was just a dream."

He looked around, and realized he was in the same room as in his dream. The only difference was that there was a plate of what looked like soup left on the desk for him, along with a glass of water. He realized that the part of his platoon being ambushed had actually happened, and he had actually been captured. He got up out of the bed, and found himself to be in the same grey outfit he had been in his dream.

Link walked over to the desk, and stirred the soup with the spoon. The soup looked and smelt really appetizing. His stomach growled, and he realised how hungry he actually was. How long had he been out? The lack of light in the room made it impossible to tell what the time was. Link lifted the spoon to his mouth, but at the last minute dropped it again. There was a good chance that it contained something other than the regular ingredients to soup, something that he didn't want to consume. His stomach let out another grumble, and with a heavy heart Link put the spoon back into the bowl.

Eyeing the wardrobe, he moved towards it and opened it gingerly, just in case something was to jump out at him. Nothing did, and so he peered inside. To his surprise, inside were two dresses, one plain one made of white cotton and one more extravagant one made of blue satin with piped edges. There were also two pairs of shoes, a pair that matched the white dress and another that matched the blue one. But why would there be girl's clothes in a prison room? This whole thing was confusing him. He took one last look at the dresses, and closed the wardrobe.

He walked over to the bookcase, and looked at the three books that sat there. The books were all thick, and all bound in leather. Two of them were black, and the third blue. There was no indication as to what they were on the spine, and when Link picked up the blue one he noticed there was nothing on the cover either. He opened the book up to the middle, and noticed that the words were in a strange language that he couldn't understand. He attempted to read it, taking in the strange characters.

After a few minutes, Link gave up with an annoyed sigh, and tossed the book onto the bed he had woken from. The book bounced off, and landed on the floor, splayed open.

"So, this is how things are going to go today." Link sighed, shaking his head and turning from the book. He caught sight of the door, and walked over to it. Even though he was doubtful of it being open he grabbed the handle and tried it. To his surprise, the door came open.

"That's strange." Link said quietly to himself. "Why keep a prisoner in a room that is not locked up?"

There was no answer to his question, not that he had been expecting one. He put his head out the door, and looked around. Link was at the end of a long corridor, which unlike his room was quite dark, getting so dark he couldn't see much further than a few meters down it. The floor was made of cold stone, and it made no sound as his bare feet touched it.

There was nothing else in the hallways apart from him and the door. Link felt strange, and uneasy. It was the same feeling he had felt in his dream when looking at the person who turned out to be Zelda. The feeling confused him greatly. He knew he had never been here before.

Link went back into his room, and tried the floor boards as he had done so in his dream. Escaping from here could not be as simple as walking down a hallway. There must be some catch to it, so other way to get out that he had not figured out yet. The floor boards did not creak, and so this time he did try moving the furniture, pulling the bookcase away from the wall to see if it concealed a hidden doorway. His hopes sprung up as he saw a darker patch, but that was all it was. No hidden doorway.

After a further explore, Link's fears were confirmed. The only way in or out was that corridor. He would have to walk down it.

He had no idea why he suddenly felt nervous. He had run head-first into danger hundreds, maybe even thousands of times. What good did it do for him to be scared now?

He glanced again at the still-abandoned book on the floor, and opened the door. With a deep breath, he stepped out, and closed the door behind him to expel the feeling of just turning back and hiding under the covers as he had done when he was scared as a child. He was, of course, an adult now; His childhood days gone. He was a married man with children! He had seen and done so many things for Zelda and the twins. He could walk done one measly hallway.

With a new-found sense of courage, he started to walk bravely down the hallway, to Goddess-only-knows what lay at the end.

Thank you all for reading!

I have decided that I will try to make this fan fiction 100,000 words long… which will be by far the longest fanfiction I would've written! It also means that I will be writing about 40 ish chapters, maybe more!

(Edit: Wow I was so over-enthusiastic about my word count… Now I just want to get to 50k and have done with this!)

Also, I will do one chapter focusing on Link, and then the next focusing on Zelda. I just think it is much easier to show the difference between their stories and keep it flowing at the same time. If that makes sense?

Thank you again for reading! Till next time!
