The Daily Lives of the Owl Familia:
Soul Stone Search: Finale
Summary: the search had finally come to a close, and all that is left are the final results, which might just shock some people.
Timeline: Immediately following part 4.
The light from the Soul Stone faded after only a couple of seconds and everyone could see the young couple again. Luz and Amity were looking at the pieces of the stone they were now holding, and the group got closer.
The group studied the pieces of stone that the young couple now had and were a little surprised; Luz's stone was rainbow colored and Amity's stone was abomination colored.
"So that's the "Clawthorne Paradox" in action," Willia said offhandedly. "I admit, it wasn't what I was expecting."
"True," Osran added with a nod, "But it didn't disappoint."
The shock from the event must have worn off as the Clawthorne sisters, back in their witch forms, rushed to their daughters.
"Luz, are you doing good?"
"Amity, how do you feel?"
"I'm fine, Mama Eda," Luz said and Amity nodded her agreement.
The sisters smiled with relief at this and then turned a scolding glare at their human family member.
"What were you thinking, young lady?" Lilith asked scoldingly. "You all people should know not to trust a coven head!"
"Sorry," was the only response Luz could muster as she hung her head in shame.
Amity looked at her girlfriend and blinked as she felt her own lingering anger mixing with shame. She looked down at the stone in her hand, which was glowing faintly, and looked at the stone in Luz's hand. It was also glowing with the same soft light.
Amity realized that she was feeling her girlfriend's shame and that shocked her. Luz suddenly looked at Amity and the young witch realized the human most had felt her girlfriend's shock
Amity was about to bring this up when her mother sighed and placed her hands on Luz's shoulders. Lilith's expression soften somewhat and she offered her human niece a small smile.
"I know you were just thinking about Amity," Lilith said softly. "But remember, you're not alone anymore. You have your family, so you don't need to do things by yourself."
Luz offered her witch aunt a weak smile and Amity could feel her girlfriend's shame lessen somewhat.
"But don't think we're letting you off the hook that easy," Eda said in a surprisingly serious tone. "You once again went into danger without thinking. So, as punishment, you have to clean Hooty."
The young couple didn't need to have their stones sharing their emotions to feel disgusted at having to clear the house demon.
Orsan decided it was now the perfect time to pipe in.
"I know this may not be the time," the Oracle interjected kindly. "But I'm curious how the two of you are feeling?"
The couple looked at the coven head suspiciously and then at their stones. The group finally noticed that the pieces of the stone were glowing faintly.
"It's weird," Amity said after a moment. "But it's like I can feel Luz's emotions."
Luz nodded and a faint blush appeared on her cheeks. A few seconds later, Amity also blushed. This didn't go unnoticed by the group and this made Willia curious.
"Amity, how are your wrists feeling?" the odd healer inquired.
The abomination witched frowned slightly and looked at her arms. Curious, she brought up her bad hand and made a small circle. Everyone who witness this before took note that the young witch's motion was more steady than a few hours ago.
Amity summoned a small bit of abomination goo and used her bad hand to control it. After a minute, she switched hands and continue to play, all with a going smile on her face. Luz was also watching this and didn't need her stone to feel the happiness coming off of her girlfriend.
"How do you feel?" Willia asked after a brief observation.
"It still hurt, but not like before," Amity replied.
Willia nodded and made a mental note of this as she looked at the human. "And how are you feeling, Luz?"
Luz frowned as she looked at her hands. There was some kind of pain in her wrists, but she didn't know how to tell them about what she was feeling.
"Tell me, human?" Orsan suddenly asked. "Does the pain you feel, feel like a phantom pain?"
Luz looked at the coven head and after a second, nodded. Though they couldn't see his face, everyone could tell the oracle was smiling.
"And thus the legend was proven true," Orsan said satisfactorily and then turned serious. "And I do believe congratulations are in order."
Everyone in the Owl Familia gave the oracle looks and they could feel the mischievousness coming off of him.
"It's like the legend stated, if the lovers are destined for each other, they will share everything, from emotions to pain…that includes your lives," Orsan stated with a hint of mischievousness in his voice. "For all purposes, you, Amity Blight-Clawthorne, had just accepted a marriage proposal from one Luzura Noceda-Clawthorne."
"WHAAT!" Lilith and Eda screamed.
Luz and Amity could only stare at the head witch with blank expressions. Orsan's aura seem to turn more mischievous as he spoke.
"And I, Orsan, chairman of magical studies of the Boiling Isles Comentee, will be honored to officialize this union…in about seven years."
The weight of this revelation must have finally hit, as Luz let out a dry laugh.
"Mami going to kill me when I tell her this," the human witch said in a southern draw.
Luz then faceplanted into the ground as she fainted. Amity sighed and smiled fondly as she looked at her human girlfriend.
"Leave it to my fiancee to find her own way to do things," Amity's own words suddenly hit her and she let out a short laugh. "Ha, I'm nearly 15, four-and-half on every other week, and I'm already engaged to be wed."
With a sigh and dopy smile on her face, Amity proceeded to faint. Eda couldn't help but shake her head as she watched her niece fall onto her back.
"Oh, these two are perfect for each other," the wild witch said with good-natured mischievousness.
"For once, sister, I agree wholeheartedly," Lilith added, smiling fondly at the newly engaged couple. "But, let's get our children home. The cold floor of ruins is no place for a quick nap."
Eda simply nodded and went to pick up Luz. Willia and Orsan made their way outside to get everything ready. The mothers made sure their daughters didn't lose their new stones, not after all they went through to get them.
Lilith picked up Amity and was heading to the exit when she felt something pulse in the back of her head. She had a sudden urge and looked at the main Soul Stone. She noticed that the glow from the item had gotten a bit brighter. Soon, her eyes were glowing with the same color as the stone.
An image suddenly flashed through the historian's head; she saw a witch reading from a scroll, and soon a beast emerged from the witch's body.
"Lily!" Eda's voice brought Lilith back to reality. "You doing good?"
"...Yes," Lilith replied after a moment.
Eda gave her sister a look, but Lilith just smiled at the wild witch as she hurried past her. Eda looked at the stone and frowned. Something obvious just happened and she will bring it up with her sister once they were home.
Right now, however, Luz was at the top of her to-do list and hurried after the group.

And that, witches and demons, is how Luz proposed to Amity. During the making of this chapter, I also kicked around the idea of making this a storybook-style ending where it was shown that Luz was recounting her tale to her mother and Vee. I dropped it after I realized it just didn't fit with the story.
