THE GOD'S LEGACY Chapter 18
A/N:- So… well, I received confirmation from only one person, but I will still go on! I'll continue this story!
The after-effects of the Paranormal Liberation war were severe.
Midoriya's and One For All's secret had spread like wildfire. Of course, they were all only just rumors but Hawks wanted to know more.
And All Might had told him and Best Jeanist the truth before things get worse. Elsewhere, Nezu had requested the government for assistance with the school.
Three days later, as people continued to feel uneasy, Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist put on a press conference to address the public. Endeavor revealed the full truth behind Dabi's confession of his and his family's past, to mixed results from viewers.
Hawks clarified to the confused press that despite Best Jeanist's death being faked so he could infiltrate the League of Villains as a spy, all of the rest of the allegations were true. He apologized for concealing the connection to his criminal father, while also saying he felt he had no other choice but to kill Twice as his Quirk would've been too dangerous if left unchecked, and he felt ashamed he wasn't able to properly stop him.
A member of the press confronted the heroes, mentioning how her mother was severely injured in Gigantomachia's rampage, and how so many people had lost their homes and lives because of everything, berating them for not doing more to ease the panic and taking responsibility.
Endeavor responded that he knows it is the only way he can properly atone. Best Jeanist added that due to the significant amount of heroes resigning, it'd become harder to protect the public so they had started a plan to help protect the civilians.
He revealed that U.A. High, and other hero programs will utilize their campuses as evacuation shelters for civilians in need, as the parents' of the U.A. students had already started moving in.
The press questioned whether just living in shelters with no path forward would be of any use, but Endeavor said that it was because of the uncertainty that they must do this and that everyone's worries should be directed at him, ending with his declaration to "Just watch me."
Despite the ever-decreasing amount of heroes, many of them still remained strong ready to stand up and fight, all the while Dabi laughed about how he didn't go "far enough".
The press then proceeded to ask about what One For All is, which Endeavor simply said he doesn't know, so to protect Izuku and All Might.
A little while later, Izuku had surprised all the members of Class 1-A with personalized letters, confessing the truth behind One For All, how All For One and Tomura were after him, and that he must leave because of it. His class reacted in confusion, while Ochaco reacted in uneasiness and started crying.
Midoriya had taken to fighting crime alone and investigating the league of villain's actions, not letting Percy's sacrifice go in vain.
All For One had also placed several assassins after Deku, including the latest Lady Nagant, who had been successfully transported to the hospital following the explosion.
Now, Endeavor, Hawks, Best Jeanist, and the Lurkers were having a meeting privately in a warehouse.
Edgeshot asked if they had extracted any more information out of Nagant.
Hawks responded in the negative, "That's not gonna happen. She's in such bad shape, the folks at Central Hospital can't believe she's alive."
"A woman afflicted by powerful despair," Kamui Woods said. "Still clinging desperately to life."
"Endeavour," Edgeshot said. "Is it time to stake everything on us to turn this around? Maybe we should expand this beyond us and bring in every last remaining hero, inform them about One For All and throw an All-Encompassing net at this investigation.
"That business with Lady Nagant made it clear that the brunt of dealing with investigating the league will be left to Midoriya," Mt Lady said. "The cops are dealing with their own problems and there being zero witnesses regarding the League, we should gather as many allies as we can while we are still able to."
"Right, Death Arms retired two days ago." Endeavour reminded them.
Best Jeanist also added that Death Arms took the lead during the war exposing the spies of the Paranormal Liberation Front, and with his grit, he believed he could still fight until the end, but as they all could see, heroes were quitting one-by-one and the last threads holding them together were starting to tear.
"The retired heroes are also leaking information regarding One For All, and the public are getting close to uncovering the truth about Deku," Endeavour said. "If the public finds out about One For All's nature, Deku will be caught in a cycle of negativity."
Hawks added that they can theorize doomsday all day, but it was here now.
"I kind of agree with the rest of the guys," Mt Lady said. "I think we should bring Percy back."
"I agree with her," Hawks said, standing up to make himself a cup of coffee. "We can't win this war without him."
"But Midoriya—" Edgeshot was cut by the feathered hero.
"I know Deku's doing his best, but it isn't enough. We need to prepare for when All For One comes back at full strength… and I believe you guys agree with me that Midoriya is not at that stage to fight him, yet."
"But AFO's not ready as well, right?" Edgeshot asked.
"Yes, but that's not stopping him from going after Deku," Mt Lady. "All he needs is a little bit more time and that's enough for him to take One For All back."
"I agree, but how will we revive him?" Endeavour asked, his head in his palms.
"Eri—" Mt Lady was cut off by Hawks.
"We can't use her, she's not ready, plus, we don't want to overwork her," He said, slurping his drink. "We need something else."
They all went into a deep state of thinking.
The silence was broken by Mt Lady. "What about the time box?"
"The what?" Edgeshot asked.
Hawks' eyes lit up. "OH! The time box that Percy had retrieved from AFO's lair! That's a great idea!"
"He did mention that it has its own set of disadvantages and that no one can actually fully rewind time without some little setbacks," Endeavour said.
"But even if there's a one percent chance that we can resurrect him, then shouldn't we take it as absolute certainty?" Hawks asked.
"What if he turns evil?" Edgeshot asked.
"Then we are doomed," Endeavour said. "But, let's give it a try, I'll get the box."
And with that, they disbanded for the day, hoping that the resurrected Percy would be fully sane, but who could say what was in store for them.
A/N:- So, how's the chapter? I hope you liked it! Bye have a nice day!
