Sorry I haven't written; I was busy last week participating in GISHWHES {the greatest scavenger hunt the world has ever seen!} guess who hosts it? Our very own angel, Misha Collins!

Onto the story, then...

Chapter 20

Dean shifted where he was sitting on top of the blankets in bed next to Castiel. The angel was snuggled up under the blankets, pressed into Dean's side, asleep. Dean stretched, as he had been sitting for hours and was starting to feel restless. He moved his arms one at a time, then his legs, careful not to disturb Cas, and glanced over to where Sam was flipping through a stack of newspapers, also searching for news on the horsemen.

Every now so often he would groan and shake his head before throwing the paper he was looking through aside. Dean's own research wasn't going well; the laptop on his lap sported a list several news sites that he had already gone through, with no sign of the horsemen. He looked down at Cas and brushed some loose strands of hair away from his forehead.

Three days before it had been extremely difficult, leaving Cas with Amber, but everything had turned out okay. Castiel had even seemed better when they returned from the vampire hunt. Right now he was pretty much back to his normal self, though Dean insisted that he rest and keep taking his medicine anyway.

"Sam, anything?" Dean called softly to his brother, and Sam shook his head. Dean sighed and brought his eyes back to the computer screen tiredly, scanning through several articles on another web site. His eyes widened as one article caught his attention and he let out a quiet gasp that made Sam look up.

"What's wrong?" he asked, brows furrowed. Dean motioned him over quickly, his heart beating with excitement. "Look, read this." he turned the laptop so it was facing Sam and jabbed at the article. Sam scanned it hurriedly, his face brightening as he read.

"It says that the supermarkets are cleared out and people are even going to local farms and stealing produce. There have been several people who have been hospitalized due to their engorged stomachs and needed immediate surgery. That could be Famine."

"Did you read the rest? People having sex in the streets, killing others in position of power, an enormous amount of robberies? Apparently, Famine affects all kinds of hunger, including lust, power and wealth."

Sam turned the laptop back. "We got our next lead, so let's go! What are we waiting for?"

"For Amber to get back for one thing." Dean pointed out, reminding Sam that she had gone on a supply run. "Start packing up so we can leave when she gets back."

Sam raised his eyebrows and studied his brother with a critical eye. "Since when are you so concerned with her?"

Dean shrugged uncomfortably. "She took good care of Cas. I think she's good to have around."

Sam snorted in amusement. "She's growing on you, isn't she?"

"No!" Dean said defensively, giving Sam a push. He paused for a minute, thinking before he spoke. "Well, maybe a little. But she wants to stick around so she can get a piece of that, and anything I could do to make my little brother happy." Dean gestured to Sam and he reddened.

"No, I don't think so." Sam said quietly playing with the cover of the laptop, running a finger across the top of it.

"Come on, why are you denying it? I see the way she looks at you. And how you look at her." Dean smirked innocently. "You two should get together."

"No, Dean." Sam closed the laptop lid and picked it up.

"Why not, Sammy?"

"I said no!" Sam said loudly, causing Castiel to stir. He stormed away, placing the laptop on the table and beginning to throw things furiously into a pile to be packed up.

"Touchy." Dean muttered. Castiel blinked sleepily, reaching over and placing a hand on Dean's chest. "What is happening?"

"Sam's having a hissy fit." Dean dipped his head to place a kiss on Castiel's forehead. "But never mind that. We might have found Famine."

"Really?" Castiel's eyes brightened and he sat up quickly, resting his head against Dean's shoulder.

"Yeah." Dean smiled, pleased at Castiel's reaction. He snaked an arm around the angel's back, missing him since he had been sleeping so much the past few days. "You feeling okay? We were gonna head out."

"I am coming with you, Dean." Castiel said at once, sitting up straight. "I am feeling much better."

"Yeah, you're gonna come with me." Dean leaned toward Cas to place another kiss, this time on his lips. "We're getting closer, Cas. We're gonna get the second ring. Before you know it, this'll be over." He pressed closer to the angel, one hand resting on his swollen belly. "We're going to get through this, and then everything will be okay."

Castiel smiled, snuggling into Dean's chest and wrapping his arms around the hunter's neck. "I know it will, because

you're here."
