Chapter 7: Sand Castles
"Last time on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style, the teams dove for treasure in the ocean. Tammie realized Kevin had a fear of worms, and used that to play some pranks. Because of this, Team Anthurium lost, and Tammie was voted off. Though Kevin played a bigger part by rigging the votes. What's happen next? Find out now, on Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica announced.
The following morning, the guys were down by the beach, playing volleyball.
"You know, if we weren't on a reality show, this would be a great vacation." said Caden.
"You got that right, dude." Edu added.
"I'm glad you guys wanted to play." Johnny told.
"The challenge hasn't started yet, so we can hang out." Kahlin replied.
Kevin didn't really want to play with the enemies, so he just sat under a tree. While the guys played, the girls were watching them. Charlotte who was walking by with Pepper on her shoulder, was curious to see them.
"What are you guys doing?" she asked.
"Oh, hey Charlotte." greeted Mia.
"We were just admiring the guys." Lucky explained.
"Yeah, take a look at Edu. Those muscles." gushed Setsuna.
"And Caden. I love a guy with abs." Vivian added.
"Johnny's not to bad either." Mia mentioned.
As the guys continued playing, Edu noticed how the girls were looking at them.
"Hey, Caden, check it out." he whispered.
He glanced up at the girls, and Caden saw them. They couldn't help but show off to their crushes. Edu flexed his arms, and Caden made sure his muscles were showing. The girls giggled, but they were snapped out of their thoughts when Monica's voice came on over the PA.
"Attention contestants, it's time for today's challenge. Meet in the mess hall in five minutes."
The teens stopped what they were doing, and headed to the mess hall.
Once everyone was there, Monica spoke.
"All right people, for today's challenge you'll be doing a beach favorite, making sand castles."
"Making sand castles, is that it?" asked Kevin.
"This'll be a little different. First you'll have to design your castle."
Hailey and Charlotte then laid a large piece of paper and some pencils on each table.
"You'll be given ten minutes to design your castle. Be creative and bold."
Then she, Hailey, and Charlotte left the mess hall, and the teams got to work.
"Let's see, the castle has to be creative and bold." said Johnny, taking a pencil.
"First we need a basic idea." mentioned Lucky.
"And ideas what our castle should look like?" wondered Mia.
"I think the castle should have a moat." suggested Edu.
"That's good. And what about some columns?" Setsuna added.
"We should add some flags." said Caden.
As Team Plumeria listed their suggestions, Team Anthurium were drawing out their idea.
"Okay, so the castle will be at least two feet tall, have four towers, we'll decorate it with seashells and kelp." Johnny explained, as he drew.
When the ten minutes were up, Monica led the teams to the beach. But when they got there, the teens were surprised to see that there were two large rectangular shaped pens that was filled with sand the colors of the rainbow.
"What is this?" asked Kevin.
"You didn't think you were just gonna make ordinary sand castles were you?" asked Charlotte.
"You'll be making sand castles out of kinetic sand." Monica told.
"Kinetic sand? You mean that stuff they use in those sand cutting videos on YouTube?" wondered Vivian.
"The very same." Hailey told.
"Team Plumeria you're in the pen on the right, and Team Anthurium you're on the left. And here are your shovels and pails."
Hailey and Charlotte then gave the teams some shovels and pails.
"You've got four hours. And...GO!"
Monica then sounded a blow horn. With that sound, the teams quickly went to their areas.
Team Plumeria stepped into the sand.
"Wow, this feels weird." said Edu.
"Yeah, let's take off our shoes." suggested Setsuna.
"Good idea." replied Kahlin.
And they all pulled of their shoes, and started building. Team Anthurium jumped into their pen, and quickly started working.
"Okay, Lucky and Kevin you start building the side walls, Vivian, you and I will start the front and back." Johnny instructed.
"Let's do this." declared Vivian.
And all the teams got to work.
About an hour later, the teams had made some progress. Team Anthurium had their walls up, and Team Plumeria made columns.
"Three hours left, everyone!" Monica informed.
"We're doing great, guys. Let's keep it up." said Johnny.
"Okay, now that we have the columns, let's start collecting shells and rocks." Setstuna told.
"I'm on it." Mia replied.
"I'll go help her." offered Edu.
And the two grabbed some pails, and hurried down to the ocean.
"Since Setsuna and Mia seem to be friendly, I think I'll ask her if Setsuna is interested in Kahlin." Edu told the audience.
"Hey, Mia, could I ask you something?" Edu asked.
"Sure, Edu." said Mia.
"Do you think Setsuna's into Kahlin?"
"Why would you think that?"
"Well I noticed she was flirting with him yesterday."
"She flirts with all the guys."
"Well yeah, but...I just thought that..."
"Thought that what?"
"Nothing."
Mia smiled slyly.
"I know what Edu was thinking." Mia said.
"(Chuckles), he really likes Setsuna and was thinking she didn't like him anymore. Setsuna's gonna love this."
Back with Team Anthurium, they had just started building the towers.
"It's coming along, let's keep it up guys." Johnny encouraged.
"Thanks, Johnny." replied Lucky.
"I say we need to make these towers a little tower." Kevin thought.
"Aw, they're fine, Kevin." Vivian told him.
He glared at her.
"All right, guys; let's stay focused." urged Johnny.
He then said he was going to get some kelp and shells.
"Try not to mess up the castle or destroy each other while I'm gone."
And he dashed off to the ocean. Team Plumeria had just started to decorate their castle.
"I think we could use a shell over here." suggested Sestuna.
"I'm on it." Mia replied.
As she put it on, she whispered something to Setsuna.
"Hey, Setsuna. Edu mentioned to me that he was concerned about you flirting with Kahlin."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, he thinks you're into him." Setsuna smiled slyly.
"Edu being a little jealous means that he definitely likes me. This is perfect." Setsuna confessed.
Both teams had made significant progress with their castles.
"You've got two hours left, everyone." Monica announced through her megaphone.
"We can win this challenge, guys. Let's keep it up." Johnny told him teammates.
As Kevin was collecting more sand, he accidentally bumped heads with Vivian.
"Hey, watch it cowgirl." he growled.
Vivian scowled at him. Caden who was getting some water for his castle's moat, saw the scene. It made him mad to see Kevin yelling at his crush like that. So he decided to intervene. He went over, and pushed Kevin off her.
"Hey, why don't you leave her alone?" he snapped.
Vivian smiled at Caden's gesture. Kevin scowled.
"So Caden wants to play prince charming, huh?"
"Well I'll show him a way to impress Vivian." he schemed.
While everyone kept working, Kevin snuck away to Team Plumeria's sand pen.
"Psst, Caden?" he whispered.
Caden turned around, and was confused to see him.
"What are you doing over here?"
"Look, I can tell you like Vivian. And I know how you can impress her."
That made Caden's face lit up.
"This is great." Caden said to the camera. "If I can impress Vivian, she'll be mine."
"All you have to do, is sabotage your own team." Kevin told.
"Sabotage my own team?"
"That way Vivian's team will win. And she'll be happy."
That made sense to Caden, and to him it sounded like a good idea.
"Thanks, Kevin." he replied.
"No problem, Caden."
Then he smirked to himself.
"No problem, at all."
And he went back to his team.
Caden continued to work on the castle with his team, but he was thinking of a way to ruin the castle.
"Ten minutes left everyone." Monica informed.
"Careful, guys. We don't want anything to happen to this castle." said Edu.
Suddenly an idea popped into Caden's head.
Charlotte looked at the timer Monica gave her, and saw there were only a few seconds left. Once it got to zero, she informed Monica.
"All right, people. Time's up!"
Everyone immediately stopped working.
"Line up, by your castle and get ready for judging."
The teams did as they were told. Team Anthurium's castle was two feet tall, had its four towers, and had kelp along the walls, and shells on the towers. And Team Plumeria's castle was three feet tall, had its' columns, a moat with water in it, and shells and kelp decorating it.
First the three went over to Team Anthurium's castle. "
Hmm, very impressive." observed Monica.
"Thank you, Monica." replied Johnny.
Then they went over to Team Plumeria. As the team waited, Caden suddenly stumbled, and fell right onto the sand castle!
"NO!" shouted Setsuna.
"Aw man." complained Edu.
"What have you done?" asked Mia.
"You've gotta be kidding me!" exclaimed Kahlin.
"Oops, sorry." Caden replied.
When Monica came and saw the smashed castle, her face fell.
"Uh, it looked good a second ago." Setsuna tried to explain.
"Well since this castle is wrecked, Team Anthurium you win."
They all cheered with happiness.
"Sorry Plumeria, I'll see you at the elimination challenge."
As they all walked back to the set, Caden's teammates ignored him, still angry at him.
Back on the set, Vivian went up to Caden.
"Caden, I'm sorry your team lost." she told him.
"It's okay, now your team's the winner." he replied.
That made Vivian confused, then it hit her.
"Caden...did you cause your team to lose on purpose?"
"Yeah, it's good for your team." Vivian couldn't believe her ears.
"Why would you do that?"
"Kevin said it was the best way to impress you."
"Kevin? Oh my God. Caden, Kevin tricked you."
"What?"
Vivian explained how Kevin was no good, and just wanted to win.
"He probably did that because he was mad you defended me." Caden couldn't believe it.
"I really messed up. I'm sorry, Vivian."
"It's okay." she comforted.
At the elimination ceremony, Monica called out who was staying.
"Sestuna, Edu, Mia."
They all got up, and got their flowers.
"And the final flower goes to...Kahlin." And he got his flower.
"We'll miss you Caden." Charlotte told him.
"I'm sorry guys. But it wasn't entirely my fault." Caden told his teammates, and he left.
As he waited for his ride off, Vivian hurried up to him.
"Caden wait!" she called.
"Vivian?" he asked.
"I'll miss you Caden."
She gave him a small smile, and he smiled back. Vivian then gave him a peck on the cheek.
"I'll see you at the final rounds."
Even though he wasn't in the competition anymore, Caden left the set happy.
"And that's this episode of Totally Epic: Hawaiian Style." Monica told the audience.
