Chapter 28

Sam and Amber knocked on the motel door; Bobby had locked it after Dean left. Bobby opened it before Sam finished knocking; the smell of the food must have hurried him up.

"Get in then, idgits, what are you waiting for," Bobby gestured them in.

"Where's Dean?" Sam asked as he sent the bags down on the table.

"Shopping for the angel," Bobby grunted, nodding toward Cas. "Sam, we should do some more reading on War for tomorrow; you have your laptop?"

"Yeah," Sam grabbed it from their small pile of bags resting in the corner of the room and set it on the table. Amber winked at Sam so he flushed, and then grabbed one of the bags for herself and one for Cas, going over to him on the couch.

"Hey," she said plopping down next to him and handing him the bag. "Got some food."

Castiel took the bag gratefully and unwrapped the hamburger inside, taking a big bite and chewing hungrily.

"So..how are you feeling?" Amber asked gently. "What happened before, anyway? You looked upset when you and Dean came out."

"My clothes," Castiel plucked unhappily at his shirt. "I became too large."

"Ahh." Amber said, stealing one of Cas' fries and moving closer to him. "That, or they got too small, right?"

Castiel smiled as he munched on the burger.

"Everything else is okay, right? You're not sick or anything?" her expression turned worried. She knew pregnancies were draining, but Castiel looked especially weary. She had quickly grown quite fond of the angel and loved him as if he were a brother. She didn't want anything to happen to him. Or any of them for that matter.

"No, I'm not sick." Amber leaned her head on his shoulder. "Good. If you need to talk or anything and Dean's not around-"

"Dean will always be around." Castiel interrupted.

"He's not now," Amber pointed out, unable to help herself. It turned out she was wrong.

A pounding on the door made everyone look up. "Come on, open up! I smell the food and I'm starving!" Dean called.

Castiel immediately perked up, his eyes shining as he watched the doorway. Amber smiled amusedly; it was adorable how inseparable Cas and Dean were.

Dean stepped through the doorway as Sam opened it for him. Grinning as he spotted the food, he reached for a bag before going over to Cas. Amber was still leaning on his shoulder, and Dean said jokingly, "Hey hands off. He's mine."

"Sorry." she scooted over so Dean could sit next to the angel. He had two shopping bags in his hand and gave them to Cas.

"Here. I wasn't sure what to get, so there's some tshirts and sweatpants. I thought they would be comfortable for you."

Castiel peeked inside the bags, expressionless.

"What?" Dean said nervously.

"ACDC and Metallica?" he asked and Dean's smile fell. Castiel poked him in the side and gave a small smile. "Thank you." Relief washed over Dean's face.

"Why don't you go try them on, and I'll save your seat?"

"Only if you help me" Cas smiled and Dean blanched as Amber laughed next to him.

"Go ahead, Dean." she said quietly. "Sam and Bobby are preoccupied in their 'studies'."

Dean squirmed on the couch as Amber eyes him amusedly. Cas stood, holding a hand out expectantly to Dean.

"Go on, Dean. I'll be your lookout." Amber glanced at Sam and Bobby, and nudged the hunter. Dean took Cas' hand and the angel brought the bags into the bathroom with them.

Closing the door, Dean turned around to face Castiel. Immediately, the angel pressed his lips to the hunter's, and Dean returned the kiss passionately. Running a hand through the angel's hair, Dean pressed him up against the sink, Cas moaning into his mouth and igniting a flame deep inside him.

Cas broke the kiss, panting, and struggled with the tight shirt he was wearing. Dean helped him, pulling it up over his head. He brushed his fingers along Cas' stomach, planting soft kisses on his neck at the same time. Cas practically purred in his ear, arching his body against Dean's.

"Cas," Dean groaned as the angel pushed against him eagerly. He grabbed the angel around the waist, licking at a spot behind Cas' ear and making Cas moan with desire.

A loud knock cracked the passion and sent them spiraling down from their high.

"Idgits! What are you doing! I need to hit the head." Bobby called gruffly from the other side of the door.

"I'm just helping Cas with his clothes," Dean said hurriedly, grabbing up one of the bags that Cas had dropped on the floor. "Give us a minute."

"That better be all you're doing." Bobby said darkly, and then they heard him move away from the door. Dean flushed red at that statement, but Cas just smiled.

"Here," Dean pulled out a pair of black sweatpants and a red t-shirt. "Try these on."

Cas sat on the edge of the sink. He blinked innocently and said, "You need to help me with my pants."

Cas tweaked the zipper, pulling it down, and Dean shook his head, trying and failing, to hide a grin.

"You are impossibly sexy." Dean whispered in Cas' ear, making the angel shudder. He slid his fingers under the lip of Cas' pants, and Cas stood so he could pull them down. Dean's rough hands massaged his thighs, and Cas squeaked, making Dean laugh. He reached for the new pants, and Cas stuck his legs into them, Dean pulling them up and standing to meet Cas.

"Does that feel better?" the hunter asked. "No buttons or zippers to worry about now."

Cas nodded; it did indeed feel a lot better. He touched Dean's face lightly. "Thank you."

Dean wrapped his arms around his waist, pulling him close. Burying his face into the angel's hair, he sighed contentedly. Whenever he was with Cas, he could just forget the rest of the world. The angel was the only thing that occupied his thoughts. But now he found War creeping stealthily into them, and he dug his face deeper into the angel's hair.

There was no way that Cas could come with them tomorrow. His powers were drained right now, and he was unpracticed with guns and other weapons. He didn't want to ruin this moment with talk of the Horseman, though. In the morning he would talk to the angel and hopefully he wouldn't argue back. Knowing Cas however, he probably would put up a fight about staying in the motel.

"Dean?" Cas questioned. He felt a change in Dean's emotions. They were light and happy and they had suddenly grown dark and brooding.

"It's nothing." Dean muttered, releasing the angel.. Reaching for the t-shirt, he handed it to Castiel. "Put that on."

Castiel eyed him worriedly as he threw Cas' old clothes into one of the bags. Cas pulled on the shirt, and it felt so good to have something that fit instead of making him feel like he was wearing skin tight spandex.

Dean was still brooding, Castiel could sense it, but he didn't press the hunter for answers. He followed him out of the bathroom quietly, returning to his seat on the couch next to Amber. She commented on his change of attire, saying that it looked way more comfortable then his usual suit and tie.

Bobby left his seat to use the bathroom, and Dean sat near Sam and started chowing down on the leftover burgers.

"So find out anything else?"

"Bits and pieces. Nothing especially useful." Sam replied.

Dean leaned back in his chair, stuffing his mouth with fries and glancing at his angel. Amber had her arm linked with his, and pointed excitedly to the TV, apparently explaining something.

Sam followed Dean's gaze and chuckled. "I think they're watching a soap opera. And it's not Dr. Sexy."

Amber suddenly gasped, slapping a hand over her mouth and wailing, "No! Not the babysitter from next door!"

Cas cocked his head at her curiously as if he were examining an interesting specimen. "You are upset?"

"Well, yeah, because the babysitter doesn't really love him! Now she's gonna have his kid, when they don't even belong together! Amelia from the coffee shop, who is really in love with him, won't want to get in the way now."

"Why did he have sexual relations with the babysitter when he did not love her?" Cas' brow furrowed as he contemplated this.

Amber rolled her eyes. "Look at her, Cas. She is freaking gorgeous. And he was horny." she grinned.

"So sexual desire can overcome love?"

"Just ask Dean. He broke plenty of girls' hearts." Bobby offered, passing by the couch on his way back to the table. Dean flushed as Cas studied him. The angel knew it of course..but it felt strange to really think about it now. Even stranger to compare Dean's life to that of the people on the television.

"Holy crap! Now he's kissing the next door neighbor!" Amber squealed, and Cas' gaze shot back to the TV.

Bobby and Sam were laughing at the expression on Dean's face as the two on the couch gasped loudly.

"Yeah. The channel is getting changed." Dean got up, pouncing on the remote before Amber could grab it. She protested loudly when Dean changed it to The Fast and Furious.

"There. Cars and people getting blown up. Much better." Dean said, tucking the remote in his pocket. Amber nudged Cas in the side and smiled evilly.

"Looks like your boyfriend doesn't want you watching that. Shouldn't talk since he watches Dr. Sexy."

Dean ignored them, but grabbed some of the left over fries, throwing them at Amber. She used Cas as a shield to block them, ducking behind him.

"Haha!" she cried. "Deflected by the angel!"

Dean couldn't let the puny girl win; he reloaded with a handful of fries, hopped over the couch, and smashed them into her face.

"Dean!" Cas said as Amber sputtered, her face full of mashed fries. He grabbed Dean's arm. "Pick on someone your own size."

He threw his arms around Dean's neck, pulling him down onto the couch. Dean lost his balance and rolled onto the floor and Amber scrambled away, giggling. Cas, still hanging onto the hunter, tumbled off the couch on top of him.

Blue eyes met laughing green ones, and then Dean quickly kissed Cas before saying, "I think I'm being crushed to death."

Cas climbed off the hunter, grinning, and Dean stood, helping him up.

"Hey!" Bobby barked, and Cas and Dean jumped; they had forgotten about the two spectators. "Is this a teenage girl's slumber party, or are we on a hunt?"

Dean's face fell, turning dark. For a moment, it felt like..like they were normal. Amber popped up, looking a little ashamed of herself. Grabbing her jacket, she used it to hurriedly wipe her face off. She looked up to see Sam watching her. He reddened when she caught him, but she just gave a wink before turning away.

Dean let go of Cas, and the angel reached for his sleeve, catching it. His eyes were full of pleading, to stay and joke and sit with them on the couch, but Dean shook him off and turned away. The angel's brows knit together as the hunter stalked back to the table.

Sam could see in his brother's eyes the desire to be with Cas and just act like a normal human. Personally he felt Bobby was still being a bit harsh even after their little conversationin the car. It was refreshing to see Dean acting so...unDeanlike. Sort of like the kid he was never able to be growing up because he had to watch out for his little brother.

He glanced at Bobby; the older hunter didn't seem to notice what he had done. Even Amber looked a little downcast. Sam shook his head as Dean grabbed one of the lore books on the table and began reading.

Yes, they were hunters, but that didn't mean they couldn't have some fun once in a while. Especially when you never knew when your last day was going to be.

How do you like Amber so far?
