Chapter 42

Dean and Cas had left Kam in his drawer under Bobby's supervision as he went about his usual routine.

Even though Dean had an arm clutched tightly around Cas' shoulder and the man was pressed against him, Dean still felt like he was living in a dream. He tugged Cas outside, and they walked through the yard, making their way through the skeletons of dead cars.

"I wanted to talk to you..about what you wanted to do now." Dean said, glancing over at Cas. "I know we talked about a house and everything, but we really didn't plan much."

Cas pondered this for a second. "I want to do whatever you think is best."

"But I'm asking you, Cas." Dean stopped, facing his mate. He pressed a hand against Cas' warm cheek and Cas' eyes shone with love. "I know I promised a lot of things..but I don't know if I can afford a house right now. I mean the credit cards I use for basic needs are one thing, but I definitely can't use them for a house. I literally have no money to my name. I don't think I can go out and hustle pool to come up with the amount I'll need for a house."

"Wherever you are, Dean..that's my home. I would prefer it not to be in a motel or the Impala...but if it comes to that...we will deal with it."

Dean sat down on the hood of a car, rubbing his forehead. "But the kid needs a life..a good life. Maybe I can find a decent job..get an apartment somewhere."

"I can work, too Dean." Cas sat tenderly beside Dean. His body was still sore from all the abuse it had taken over the past days.

Dean put his hand over Cas' on top of the cold metal hood. "I just don't have experience with this..it might take a while to settle down...find out what feels right. You can work if you want...I'm not gonna stop you. But we'll have to take opposite shifts so somebody can stay with Kam."

"Would it be possible...could we stay with Bobby?"

"For the long haul?" Dean looked at him. Bobby did offer him the guest room...if he asked the hunter nicely..maybe they could set up base here for a while. "Maybe until I can figure out what the hell I'm going to do. I'm sure he won't have a problem with it."

Cas leaned over, touching his lips to Dean's. "We will figure it out. I have no doubt that we will find the path we were meant to take, whatever that may be."

Dean put a hand around Cas' waist, holding him close. "Always the optimist."

Cas smiled and touched his lips to Dean's again, this time pressing harder. Dean ran a hand under Cas' shirt, avoiding the stiches, and massaged Cas' skin. Cas moaned into Dean's mouth and chills ran down Dean' spine. Cas moved so he was practically sitting on Dean's lap. They remained joined at the lips as Dean ran his hands under Cas' shirt, along his back.

"I wish we could go somewhere to be alone." Cas broke the kiss, panting. He eyed the house longingly, wishing there was not so many people in it.

Reaching into his pocket, Dean pulled out the keys to the impala. "We can."

Grinning, Cas pulled Dean eagerly to the Impala and hopped in the passenger seat. Dean fired her up, speeding from the yard. "Not too long though, Cas. Kam needs to eat soon."

They wound up a mile down the road, the same place Dean had taken Cas weeks ago when they were staying at Bobby's.

Dean turned the radio down so it played Rush's "Freewill' softly while Cas hopped into the back seat. Dean quickly followed and soon Cas was tearing at Dean's clothes.

"This is easier then when I was pregnant." Cas noticed. He tossed Dean's shirt and jacket aside and wrapped his arms around the hunter's bare back, pulling Dean down on top of him.

Dean trailed butterfly kisses on Cas' neck and Cas shivered. "I love you so much, Cas. I can't even explain it with words."

"Then don't."

Dean frowned. "Don't what?'

"Explain it with words. Show me how much you love me, Dean." Cas breathed softly, meeting Dean's eyes. "Show me."

So Dean did.
