Chapter 43
Kam was crying incessantly, and Bobby rocked him gently, trying to quiet him. There was no comforting the baby, however. Sighing, Bobby said to the baby, "I don't know where the hell your parents went. Damn idgits."
Dean said that they were going for a walk and they wouldn't be gone long. But that was an hour ago. Bobby hoped that they were ok...but what could happen? There was no Lucifer to worry about anymore..no Apocalypse.
Maybe they started talking and lost track of time. Bobby hoped that wherever they were they would be back soon.
Amber came in. The baby's crying had drawn her downstairs. Bobby looked awfully frustrated with Kam. The boy's face was beet red and tears wet his cheeks.
"Do you want me to take him?" Amber offered, and Bobby gladly accepted, handing the baby off to her before going back to his work in the other room.
"Are you hungry?" Amber spoke softly to Kam and walked with him to the kitchen to make up a bottle. Perhaps he wanted to eat?
Ten minutes later and Amber knew that was not the case. Kam had rejected the bottle more then once and Amber finally set it down. That answered her question. He was not hungry.
"Do you need to be changed?" Amber sung softly to Kam as she brought him upstairs to the guest room. Lying him on the bed, she went to fetch a clean diaper from the bag on the floor, but soon found that it wasn't needed. Kam was as dry as he was this morning when Dean had changed him. She frowned.
"What's the matter, baby?" Amber sat on the floor, cradling Kam and kissing his forehead lightly. He gripped her finger in his hand, wailing now. It was not like a regular baby..the noise almost burst her eardrums.
"Kam...shhh." Grabbing a few tissues from the dresser, she wiped his sopping face dry. A minute later it was soaked again.
She didn't know where Dean and Cas were but she hoped they came back soon. The wailing was staring to give her a piercing headache.
