Chapter 46

Bobby stared at Cas, who was sittting on the couch, wringing his hands together worriedly. Kam was sleeping in his drawer; he had quieted as soon as he was in Cas' arms. Soon he fell asleep, tired from all his crying and Cas had tucked him safely away so he could worry about Dean.

"So they just came in and zapped away with Dean?" Bobby asked.

Cas nodded, tears stinging his eyes. "I don't know why they just can't leave us alone."

Amber, who had taken a seat next to Cas while Sam and Bobby were pacing the room, rested a hand on his knee. "It's going to be alright."

"Why the hell did you decide to go for a drive in the first place? You should have told us where you were going." Bobby said, banging his fist on the table.

"It was a ..spur of the moment thing." Castiel said, his cheeks reddening.

"What were you going to go do? Shopping for the kid? You left him here, screaming his brains out-"

"No, Bobby. It wasn't that." Cas said, but he didn't elaborate further.

"Then what?"

"It's not important." Cas said, pulling at a thread in his shirt. One of the shirts Dean had bought for him. Amber was watching him strangely, as if she knew what they went off to do.

"Every detail is important. Were you driving? Did they zap you out of the car?" Sam was asking. and Castiel shook his head.

"No...Dean pulled over. We wanted to be alone, so he drove us to that field." Hoping he didn't have to say anything more, Cas fought the urge to hide his face.

"Alone?" Sam repeated. A look of realization dawned on his face. "Oh. Oh."

Flushing, Sam glanced away as he understood what Cas was saying. Bobby, however, kept an even face.

"So that was it? You ran off to have sex. The angels grabbed Dean because you two couldn't keep it in your pants?"

Cas frowned, and finally looked up at Bobby, his previous embarrassment forgotten. "How were we supposed to know that this would happen?"

Bobby shook his head. "Cause this shit happens all the time. I tried to warn Dean."

Bobby's voice began raising. "You two want to live in this fantasy world where you can be normal..but it's never going to happen. There's always going to be things out there. You're always going to have to watch your backs. You can never live a normal apple pie life."

There was a blank look on Cas' face and Amber whispered, "Don't listen, he's just upset."

"Damn right I'm upset. How the hell are we going to find Dean? Of course, Cas isn't an angel anymore either so he can't use his mojo to find the bastards-"

Cas stood abruptly and strode out of the room. They heard the front door slam behind him as he left the house.

Sam gave Bobby a look and the older hunter shrugged. "He didn't deserve that, Bobby."

"It's the truth." Bobby said defensively. "He needs to realize that."

Sam put his head in his hands. They had no clue where the angels had brought Dean. How were they going to find him?

Castiel kicked at one of the junk cars as he walked past it. He was fuming, his heart pumping furiously. Bobby made it seem like it was his fault that Dean had gone missing. How was he supposed to know?

The sun shined off the Impala, making it glint and catching his eye. He still had the keys in his pocket..he could go back to where Dean was taken, maybe the angels left a clue?

Quickly he made his decision, hopping into the car. Amber could watch out for Kam if Bobby and Sam left. He would trust her with his life..he knew she would take care of his son.

Starting up the Impala with a roar, he spun out of the yard, kicking up dust. There was only one thing on his mind, only one thing he could focus on: Dean.
