After the medics took away an injured Tenten much to the dismay of Rock Lee and Guy sensei, Shikamaru lazily made his way to the arena before his name was even on the screen along with Kin.
As soon as the match began, Shikamaru surprised everyone but his twin by not even waiting for Kin to throw her genjutsu bells. Shikamaru quickly used shadow possession on the kunoichi and made her knock herself unconscious against the arena wall, so quickly that everyone was stunned.
As soon as the proctor declared Shikamaru the winner the Nara made his way back to his and his brother's team.
Ino who had just returned was staring dumbly at her teammate and his brother and back at where his opponent was still being loaded onto a stretcher.
"Could you have knocked me out that quickly the whole time?!" Ino questioned Shikaoi who only shrugged.
"Shikaoi took his time because he wanted Asuma sensei to know what areas to train you in more, but Shikamaru just wanted to get the fight over with," Choji explained much to the surprise of everyone who heard.
Shikaoi turned to Choji with a questioning look in his eyes.
Shikaoi turned questioning eyes to Choji who shyly offered his friend one of his chips.
Asuma sensei placed a hand on his two male students' heads, "I think you are right Choji-kun," Asuma sensei told his student.
"I have known Shikamaru and Shikaoi for a long time, just because I spend more time with Shikamaru it doesn't mean I don't know how Shikaoi thinks," Choji explains continuing to eat his chips.
Naruto let out a whoop of joy when he saw his name on the screen, and Kiba Inuzuka could also be heard loudly celebrating his "easy win" against the "dead last."
Sasuke and Shikaoi glared at the loud-mouthed Inuzuka boy, and Naruto smirked with a mischievous glint in his bright blue eyes.
