I know the last chapter was kinda out of it, but it gave me warm fuzzy feelings, so I posted it. Anywho, I'm going to need some ides for pranks soon, so can you review with some suggestions? Thanks!
P.S. I have changed my name, if you hadn't noticed.
Anyways, enjoy!
James' POV
I woke in the best way possible. Back in Potter Manor and holding the love of my life. Love-of-my-life Lily was doing that cute twitchy thing with her nose and I smiled. I kissed her awake and her emerald eyes gazed into my own hazel ones, making me think that she was staring at my soul.
"Good morning, beautiful" I greeted her.
"Morning, James" she replied.
I leaned in for another kiss, but was interrupted by a loud vomiting noise at the door. I glared at Sirius who was leaning against the frame, miming puking on the floor.
"Way to ruin the moment, Pads" I grumbled. "How'd you get in?"
"Harry let me in" he grinned. "It's nearly ten and we need to go see Minnie."
I halfheartedly threw a pillow at him and he ducked, chortling.
"I'll leave you to" he eyed us, smirking. "Finish up here."
Lily shot a jinx at his retreating form and he squealed as he grew a pigs tail.
"Mmph" Lily huffed. "I meant to turn him into a pig, but I guess there isn't much left to do, is there?"
I grinned at the reference to one of Harry's first happy memories. We got up and dressed, using very old robes. I scourgified my favorite clothes and put them on. We went downstairs and into the kitchen for breakfast. The aroma of pancakes made my mouth water as we stepped through the doorway.
"Harry!" I wailed. "You let the dog in!"
My son grinned and held up a forkful of the syrupy pancakes.
"He bribed me. I couldn't refuse."
I stole his fork and stuffed the sugary goodness into my mouth. Harry grinned and tackled me. We tussled for a while until Sirius joined in and we ganged up on him. The match ended with Padfoot writhing on the floor while Harry and I tickled his feet mercilessly.
"Enough!" I cried. "I must have more pancakes!"
"There's loads more" said Sirius. "They're on the counter..."
He trailed off as we saw an empty plate and a full Lily licking syrup off her fingers. Her eyes widened as we advanced.
"If you're going to insist on fighting in the kitchen in the middle of breakfast, don't expect there to be any food left" she reasoned.
"But Lily-Flower" I cried. "I am your husband."
She clapped her hands together.
"Well done! Now what's you're name?" she smirked.
I growled and caught her round the waist. She giggled and plastered her sticky fingers on my face. I laughed and buried my face in her hair.
"James!" she shrieked.
"Serves you right Lily-kins" observed Sirius. "You shouldn't have eaten a stack of fifteen pancakes."
"Fifteen!" Harry gawked. "How is that physically possible?"
I grinned.
"One thing you need to learn about your mother" I explained. "Is that there is a black hole in her stomach. It goes in and more goes in after it."
"James," Lily admonished. "Stop exaggerating."
"I'm not" I insisted.
"I'm making more pancakes" announced Harry. "Want some?"
"Yes!"
We managed around fifty pancakes between us, although Lily wasn't allowed any more until we boys had eaten our fill. Lily scourgified my face and her long red hair and we sat down in the lounge.
"So," Sirius said seriously (no pun intended). "How are we going to make our grand entrance into the world?"
"Please don't make it too big" pleaded Harry. "I get enough attention already."
"Sorry, son" I said. "We don't do small."
Luckily for Harry, Lily intervened.
"Nothing prank like" she said sternly. "You may walk into the middle of lunch and that is it."
"What? Not even fireworks?"
Sirius turned the puppy-dog eyes on my wife.
"Beware" I whispered spookily. "Beware the puppy-dog eyes."
Lily elbowed me.
"Okay" she allowed. "But they have to be safe fireworks, although I don't know where we can get them at this time of day."
"Don't worry" grinned Harry. "I know exactly the place."
"Fred! George!" yelled Harry through the empty shop. "Hello?"
We were in Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes in Diagon Alley and I had to give it to them. Theirs was a joke store to rival Zonko's.
"Gred, my boy" a voice said from upstairs. "What would a nice, rule abiding boy like Harry Potter be in our closed store when he should be in school?"
"I'm afraid I have no idea, Forge my lad" replied an identical voice. "Maybe we are beginning to hear things in our old age."
"Are you calling me old, dear twin of mine?"
"Why, yes I am. Problem?"
"Well, yes. You see-"
"Oi!" Harry interrupted. "Stop bantering and get down here. I need a favour."
A pair of ginger men appeared at the top of the staircase. I recognized them as the Weasley twins and I had a sudden urge to run out of the shadows and thank them profusely for breaking my son out of the Dursely's house. However, I remained in the darkness with my wife on one side and my best friend on the other.
"Hey guys" greeted Harry. "I need a box of fireworks, I'll repay you later."
"Why?" asked George, or maybe Fred.
"Are you even out of school?" finished Fred, or maybe George.
"McGonagall let me" Harry replied he beckoned us. "Fred, George, meet my parents. You remember Sirius too, right?"
The twins gaped as we stepped into the light. I grinned.
"Absolutely spiffing to meet you boys" I said. "Or rather, to be met. We've been around."
"Don't confuse the poor boys" chided Lily. "You know how weird this is going to be for the rest of the wizarding world."
"Lily-Flower is right, Prongs" Sirius mocked. "It's going to be very confusing."
He quailed under Lily's death-glare. The twins were still gawping, with their mouths open. I reached over and pushed each of their jaws up. Sirius went behind them and waved a hand over their faces.
"They're in shock" he announced.
"Well done, Padfoot" I said patronizingly.
A jab to the ribs jerked them out of their frozen state.
"Wha-"
"How-"
"Don't ask" I advised, just as Lily opened her mouth to explain. "It'll give you a headache."
Harry repeated his earlier request. They nodded and silently handed each of us a box of Dr. Filibusters Fabulous Wet-Start, No Heat Fireworks.
"Harry,"
"You owe us"
"A long"
"And very detailed"
"Explanation." The twins said, their words overlapping.
"And you'll get it with the rest of the Order" Harry said. "Don't worry, it'll be very detailed. These are for our grand entrance to Hogwarts. Feel free to come and watch."
Fred and George grinned.
"I reckon it'll be great fun"
"And we'd be delighted to accompany you."
"Great!" I said. "The more the merrier in my opinion."
With that, we apparated back to the Potter Manor and used the ornate fireplace to Floo to Hogwarts. For one, I was excited to physically walk through the halls of my seven-year home.
