Chapter 27 – The Battle Finale
Meanwhile at Konoha Military Police Headquarters
Tobi appeared before the HQ from a swirl in the air. He looked at the HQ, where everybody had just got the news about the invasion and were now preparing for a counter-offensive. Everyone inside was so occupied that they didn't notice the malicious presence approaching them.
"Who are you?" The guard at the entry of the HQ said but suddenly Tobi created a wooden spike from his hand and stabbed him, causing the wood to grow out of his body in a gruesome manner.
"It shouldn't concern you." Tobi said as he began his onslaught. One after another, he just killed every person present there with barely any effort. In a matter of few minutes, the ground floor of the Police headquarters became devoid of human life. The corpses of over 50 officers were lying there resembling something out of a horror movie.
Tobi then headed to the stairs to ascend to the upper floor and finish the rest of the shinobi present there. But as he had just stepped on the first stair he sensed an overwhelming amount of bloodlust from the first floor and immediately jumped several feet away. Just the moment he jumped, an enormous fireball engulfed the place where he was just standing, hot enough to even melt the metal railing.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Fugaku said as he descended the stairs and dashed at Tobi with a kunai in each hand.
But as the two engaged in combat, Tobi easily blocked each of Fugaku's attacks and outmanoeuvred him before kicking him out of the building.
As Fugaku got kicked, he got a glance at the crimson eye that he was so familiar with. "A Sharingan?!" Fugaku said as he stood up from the ground and glared at Tobi who was coming out from the building.
"Indeed," Obito said as he grew out a wooden branch from his right palm.
[A/N: The white Zetsu covering Obito (Guru Guru) is referred to as Tobi while Obito is referred to as just Obito.}
"Who did you steal it from?" Fugaku said as he took a defensive stance.
"Steal? Why would I steal something that belongs to me from the very beginning?" Obito said.
"You are an Uchiha?" Fugaku said.
"Of course I am. I was the leader of the clan long before you." Obito said.
"Who are you and why are you attacking your own village?" Fugaku said.
"You should be familiar with my name. I am Madara Uchiha." Obito said as Fugaku suddenly got pale.
"You liar. You are certainly not Madara. He is long dead, from his fight with the first Hokage. Tell me the truth." Fugaku said.
"You don't even know what the Sharingan is capable of and you somehow managed to become the clan head. How laughable." Obito said as he dashed at Fugaku trying to pierce him with the wooden branch. But before he could close the distance between them, Fugaku launched a fire dragon at Obito forcing him to dodge.
But as Obito jumped in mid-air, Fugaku immediately launched multiple shurikens at him. As the shurikens approached him, he created a wooden shield from his right hand and shot the shurikens back the Fugaku, slashing the tendons of his right leg, and causing him to drop to the ground.
Suddenly Obito appeared right above the fallen Fugaku and formed another branch in his hand. "So you can use wood release too," Fugaku said.
"Get off my father!" Itachi and Sasuke said in unison as they both jumped from the air, pointing their swords at Obito ready to stab him from above.
"Fools," Obito said as suddenly his Sharingan transformed into the Mangekyo Sharingan.
As the Uchiha Brothers tried to stab Obito, their swords just phased through him. And being unable to control the momentum of their swords, both of them ended up stabbing their father, puncturing both his lungs and causing him to gush out blood.
"DAD!" Sasuke yelled as Itachi just remained silent wearing a horrified expression on his face. At that moment, they had forgotten about Obito and were just hoping that their father doesn't die.
Suddenly Obito jumped and performed a split kick, sending both of them flying away before landing on Fugaku, snapping his ribs and causing him to cough out more blood.
But as he stood upon the dying Fugaku, he suddenly sensed something before activating his Mangekyo Sharingan once again. Just as he activated it, a flash of purple lightning seemed to dissect him before picking up Fugaku and stopping at a distance.
"You have grown, Naruto Uzumaki," Obito said as he materialized again, without any injury whatsoever.
"Itachi-San, Sasuke! Take him to the hospital, he still has a pulse, but it is slowing down. He can make it if you hurry up!" Naruto said as he checked Fugaku's pulse. At a moment's notice, the Uchiha brothers appeared just before Fugaku and picked him up.
"Do not die, Naruto-Kun!" Itachi said as he shunshined away along with Sasuke.
"Now then, what were you saying, imposter?" Naruto said as a dozen chains formed out of Naruto's back.
"Imposter? Are you referring to me?" Obito said.
"Yeah, you. You run around calling yourself Madara Uchiha, don't you." Naruto said.
"And what makes you think that I am not who I claim to be?" Obito said.
"Why don't you remove that mask and show your face? Don't be shy now, it's me only. You are making me feel self-conscious too, Impostor-chan." Naruto said in a teasing manner.
"You talk too much, Uzumaki," Obito said.
"Having you wear that Orange mask, makes me all the more want to see what's behind it," Naruto said as a slight crimson glow appeared in Naruto's eyes before fading away, signifying the activation of his Sharingan. "After all, you owe me some lives that you took away when I was just born. Let me see who you are before I bury you 6 feet under." Naruto said in a serious tone before he dashed at Obito attacking him with all 12 razor-sharp chains at once.
Obito barely managed to evade the attack as he kept being pushed backwards. As he formed multiple branches of wood to push back Naruto, it got shredded as soon as it was formed. Due to the attacks being so random, and yet so precise, Naruto finally forced Obito to use Kamui to not get himself shredded like the wood.
As Naruto noticed a chain pass through Obito without cutting him, he immediately stopped his attack and jumped away from him. "This is the same as before. I think I might have figured out your little trick." Naruto said with a smug face.
"In addition to teleporting anywhere you wish, you can also become intangible to any physical attacks. But there is a catch to your technique." Naruto said.
"Oh, you think you figured out my ability?" Obito said.
"Let me finish, then you are free to criticize my judgement. The catch to your ability is that you cannot attack while you are intangible. Furthermore, since you seem to activate it, there should be a time limit to which you can use your intangibility. And adding the fact that your intangibility looks more like you are teleporting your body to a different location than merely being intangible, I believe I have figured out your ability." Naruto said.
"You don't seem to be bluffing. In that case, let me congratulate you for figuring out my ability in our first encounter so quickly and so accurately. But unfortunately, this secret will go down with you." Obito said.
"You are not much of a brainiac, are you? I just said that there should be a time limit to your intangibility and you just confirmed it. Now all that remains is for me to figure out how long that time limit actually is. And I have just the trick for that." Naruto said with a malicious grin.
"Ninja Art: Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Naruto said as he formed 9 shadow clones of himself.
"Now this is what I call a hopeless situation. All you can do now is run away, always scared that I may come after you." Naruto said as he and his shadow clones formed out a dozen of razor-sharp Adamantine Chains and covered them with Shiden.
"And your time starts NOW!" Naruto said he, along with all his shadow clones attacked Obito from every possible direction. His eyes were moving as if he was possessed, precisely tracing all the 120 chains while also looking at Obito, all thanks to his Sharingan.
As soon as the onslaught began, Obito was forced to use Kamui from the get-go. A minute passed and Obito was still intangible as every one of the 120 chains just phased through him every second.
90 Seconds Later
"There is one thing that you still haven't figured out yet. And that is I can perform both Ninjutsu and Genjutsu even when I am intangible." Obito said as he made a hand seal and blew out a massive fireball, even bigger than Fugaku's, dispelling 6 of Naruto's Shadow Clones.
120 Seconds Later
"Heh, how idiotic can you be? Now you just confirmed my other theory that you just teleport your body to a different location that appears like you have become intangible." The remaining Naruto clones said in unison said as he simply formed another 6 shadow clones again without stopping his attacks.
"Shadow Clones is really an irritating jutsu, you just can't figure out which one is the real user," Obito said as he seemed to shoot out multiple shurikens from his eyes at every clone. But much to his surprise, they simply dodged every one of the shurikens without ever stopping.
210 Seconds Later
"Would you look at that, it seems that the source of your intangibility is your right eye. The Mangekyo Sharingan." Naruto said.
"Was it not obvious?" Obito said as he made another set of hand seals, much longer that the previous one.
"Fire Release: Burning Vortex!" Obito said as he blew out a massive amount of fire forming a whirlpool of fire around himself, flowing it outwards in all directions, trying to stop Naruto.
"Just like my Domain Expansion, the Adamantine Chains are also a passive ability that I control subconsciously. And it allows me to perform any action without affecting the chains." Naruto said as he also blew out a massive amount of water before the fire can reach him, trapping Obito in thick steam. If it was not for his Kamui, he would have been reduced to bones by just being there due to all the heat.
270 Seconds Later
"And there is more! Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere!" Naruto said as he transformed the steam into a Vacuum Sphere, that could shred everything inside it. But as he performed the jutsu Obito simply walked out of it while still being attacked by the chains.
295 Seconds Later
"Have you lost your composure? Then you must the reaching your limit." Naruto said as he increased the attacks even more.
300 Seconds Later
As soon as the 300 seconds passed, Naruto noticed the chains just slightly cutting Obito's finger for the blood to spurt out. The moment he noticed the blood, he immediately stopped his chains and shot a single chain at Obito's right eye, gouging it out immediately.
By doing so, he made sure that Obito could no longer escape from there. But he didn't stop there, and he proceeded to mutilate him. "5 minutes, huh? Guess I win." Naruto said as he placed his right hand on Obito's mask, ready to uncover his real identity.
But as he was about to remove the mask, his hand just passed through as Obito suddenly disappeared from there. Just at that moment, his Domain Expansion reacted to a person standing behind him as he instinctively moved to his left.
In the next moment, Naruto could no longer feel his left arm, all the way from his shoulder, as it was falling to the ground. But before his arm could touch the ground, he formed an Adamantine Chain, covered with Shiden and cleaved off the left arm and leg of the person who had just attacked him.
As he turned around, he found the person to be none other than Obito who had his right eye back. "What is going on here? How can you use your right eye when I already destroyed it… unless you have another eye behind that mask." Naruto said as he jumped back.
"Ugh… sneak attacks really don't work on you. Though you are right, I had eyes in both my socket, but not the same pair. Now thanks to you, my left eye is gone in return for reversing all the damage you gave me before." Obito said as he also crawled back.
"How?" Naruto said.
"It is a forbidden jutsu of the Uchihas called Izanagi, that allows the user to turn fantasy into reality. And what is more, is that it can be used with a normal Sharingan." Obito said.
"Is that so? Then I just have to kill you once again." Naruto said as he formed a dozen of Adamantine Chains.
'Kurama, could you stop the bleeding?' Naruto said.
"On it," Kurama said as Naruto's bleeding slowed down and eventually stopped.
"Perhaps next time. I can no longer fight while continuously losing blood and two missing limbs." Obito said as he disappeared into a swirl in the air.
"Heh, he took my bluff. It is not as if I am used to fighting with a missing arm and severe blood loss." Naruto said as his chains turned into golden dust and faded into the air. But as he was about to leave the place, he suddenly saw a giant Bijjudama approaching the Hokage Tower.
"What the hell? A Bijjudama? Seriously?" Naruto said.
"So how are you planning on preventing it from blowing up half of the village?" Kurama said.
"Just form your own Bijjudama, I will intercept it and deflect its path," Naruto said.
Suddenly a yellow paw made of chakra covered Naruto's right hand. Naruto then pointed his hand some distance ahead of the Shukaku's Bijjudama and formed his own Bijjudama. But before he could fire it, Shukaku's Bijjudama suddenly disappeared in thin air.
"The blood loss is taking its toll, I guess," Naruto said in a low voice.
"No, the Bijjudama actually disappeared," Kurama said.
"Yeah? Then there is no need for this." Naruto said as he undid the Bijjudama. As Naruto's Bijjudama disappeared, he sensed an ANBU approaching him from the direction where Hiruzen and Orochimaru were fighting. He was too far away from them to sense how the battle was going.
"So, the Snake is dead," Naruto said as he waited for the ANBU to come.
"Naruto-Sama, your presence is needed at the Chunnin Exam's arena." The ANBU said in a knelt-down position.
"What happened?" Naruto asked as he sensed fear and nervousness from the ANBU.
"Hokage-Sama-" Before the ANBU could finish Naruto disappeared from his sight leaving a trail of lightning behind him.
With Itachi and Sasuke
Both the brothers were running as fast as they could to reach the hospital, in the hopes of having their father saved. But despite their efforts, they were still far away from the hospital. And to worsen the situation even more, Fugaku was continuously & tremendously losing blood.
"Stop, Itachi," Fugaku murmured in Itachi's ears, stopping Itachi right there.
"It was not your fault," Fugaku said as Itachi held him in his lap.
"Itachi, take care of your mother and your brother for me. Izumi is a good girl. After all of this is over, get married and start a family. A pity I won't be able to see my grandchildren, though I have no remorse." Fugaku said.
"I would father," Itachi said as he broke down into tears.
"And you Sasuke, know this, you are the one thing that I had treasured the most in my entire life. I had always adored you, but I couldn't show it because I thought I would have looked silly. You are so much different from your brother yet you are still the same. You chose a different path, and I tried to make you follow in your brother's footsteps, but I am glad that you did not. After all, one Itachi is enough. Just keep walking the path you have chosen, and make everyone proud of yourself." Fugaku said looking at Sasuke who was barely holding back his tears.
"Trying to act tough, huh? I have already said it once, but it was never your fault. So, don't blame yourself-" Fugaku said as his last breath finally escaped his body.
Sasuke then looked at Itachi's face, only to find out that his eyes were changed and had evolved into the Mangekyo Sharingan. "Nii-San, your eyes." Sasuke said.
"Yeah, I know. Yours have also awakened." Itachi said as he clutched Fugaku's body. Sasuke then realised that his vision was not the same as before. But suddenly his eyes blackened out, as he fell unconscious on his father's body.
"Sasuke!?" Itachi said as he violently coughed out blood, barely maintaining consciousness.
With Naruto
It took him less than half a minute, travelling half the way across the village, the reach the place where the arena once stood. Now, there was just debris and rubble all across. As Naruto reached there, tried his best to sense his beloved sensei, pushing himself to the point where he could pinpoint the location of every single person in the village, but he failed to find Hiruzen.
Naruto then looked around to see some crowd standing at a distance from him. He slowly walked to the crowd, hoping to not lose one of the two last people he calls family. But as cruel fate had played it out, he made his way through the crowd the find the lifeless body of Hiruzen Sarutobi, laying in the dirt.
All the moments he had spent with Hiruzen just flashed before Naruto's eyes in an instant, as his Sharingan slowly started rotating. The memories kept replaying in Naruto's mind as his eyes kept rotating until all the six tomoe merged together into the centre.
After the tomoe merged, a spiral pattern formed from it, signifying the awakening of a Mangekyo Sharingan, and in Naruto's case, The Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. But before Naruto could move another muscle, the stress from all the fights caught up to him and he blacked out and started falling.
"You should take some rest; you have already done enough," Jiraiya said as he held Naruto from falling to the ground. He had just handed Gaara over to Ibiki and was currently carrying the unconscious Kakashi on his shoulder.
"Farewell, sensei!" Jiraiya said as he shunshined to the hospital.
With Obito
After fighting Naruto, Obito appeared not far away from Jiraiya and Kakashi. He then looked around to find Kai laying there unconscious. Obito then used his Kamui again to appear just beside Kai.
"You have incredible potential boy. I shall take you with me." Obito said as he placed his hand on Kai and then disappeared from there along with Kai.
