Again. Unfortunately, the only parts I can take ownership for is Kayla, Gerard and the majority of the parents. Adrienne D'heur is very loosely based off of an actual person in history.

Chapter 9: The Summoning

After a while, the guys were back with the necessary items. They grabbed a spell book, and wax candles, Kayla had been surprised when she watched Pogue carry in the oversized wall mirror.

"Uhh…" Reid began from the sitting room, "What do we need that for?"

"To summon Gerard…" Allen stated absently as he walked in reading his book. He seemed to be scanning over the words quickly as he took a seat on the vacant couch flipping through pages.

"…Okay." Reid said feeling more confused than when he'd asked the question. He glanced down to Kayla as the rest of the guys entered. Pogue had leaned the mirror up against the dining chair that Caleb had brought into the room.

"Gorman's gone. He'll be staying elsewhere. I-I figured it would get messy summoning the spirit." The elder man nodded in agreement as the other two fathers walked in.

"Alright, everything here, boys?" James asked with a glance around the room. At the nods the older men set to work on setting everything up- normally James seemed to step up and take control of the group, but in such case, as this, they could visibly see Allen taking the role in commander for this.

"The candles have to be somewhat melted for this to work." He said with a glance down to his book. "We- we have to splash the wax onto the mirror when we can…" He trailed off. Henri had lit the candles as soon as they were set down, with seemingly shaky hands. Kayla had a feeling he wasn't one for midnight spells and, summoning spirits.

"They should be alright now…" Henri said as he brought one of the candles with him towards the mirror sitting there looking ordinary in all its glory. He upturned the candle pouring the wet wax over the clear, clean mirror. Coating it with a thin sheen of wax. While he did that Caleb had picked up the salt bag he brought in and made a half-circle at the foot of the mirror. Creating a barrier of sorts.

"James since you're related to the spirit, I think it would only make more sense to use your blood." He handed a knife over to James while saying, "First, you have to carve Gerard's name into the wax, and then cut your hand and bleed over the mirror." James nodded quickly as he began to scratch the name Gerard into the red candle wax. He then made quick work at cutting his hand and smeared it over the mirror.

Allen stepped up, his book in hands while chanting, 'Witches course through time, we are in need of assistance. Oh, spirit come, we beckon you. Share you're stories, come to morning light." He finished as he placed the book on to the coffee table in front of the mirror. The men stood in front of the mirror anxiously as Reid, and Kayla sat on the couch waiting for anything to happen.

The room was eerily still as no one moved so much as an inch. That's when things got weird. The glass within the mirror began to crack up at the top slowly making it's way down. It began to spider web at the edges before the crowd was taken by surprise when a man reached out of the glass. Pieces fell to the floor shattering some more. Another hand came out clearing more glass away and grasping the frame pulling themselves out. Before they all knew it a young man stood before them. His clothes old and faded- clearly handmade by someone from centuries past. The shirt had a deep v-neck exposing his muscular neck and chest. His pants were tight and plain linen. Kayla recognized him immediately- her eyes locked with his icy blue ones and memories of Adrienne's life flashed through her mind. She recalled the feel of his rough hands on her- among other things better left unsaid given her company in the room. It was as if seeing his physical form cemented everything Kayla had seen, she knew it wasn't a dream- but this-this made it even more real.

"Whoa…" Kayla heard some of the guys slight intake of breath and, other audible reactions of surprise. Kayla could feel Reid tense unsure of what to expect from the man.

"Gerard…?" Kayla's soft voice broke the stunned silence of the room. The man with the chin length blonde turned his head in her direction. His strong jawline hardening and his thick eyebrows furrowing in confusion. He stood tall and bulky- undoubtedly from the hard labor he experienced from his present time centuries ago. Kayla had to remind herself that he was not living- whatever spell Pogue's father used made Gerard appear in the flesh.

"Do I know ye, lass?" Gerard's deep voice was met with more shocked silence. Kayla shook her head making a move to stand only to remember she was bound. She looked down at the ropes, and back up to Gerard. "Those-those are-." He began taking in the ropes the looking at the group of men before him.

"Yours. Yes." James stated, taking a small step closer. "They- we- kept them as heirlooms. Family heirlooms." He clarified the end for Gerard.

"I-I'm dead." Gerard jumped to the conclusion probably remembering his death in whatever manner it was. Kayla looked up to Reid- who remained stoic just watching his ancestor. "You- Are you all descendants of mine?"

"No. Just- just them," Allen said quickly with a nod in Reid and James's direction hefting his now closed book up higher. "We-we're all members of a covenant." He finished. "It was formed after your time undoubtedly."

Everybody's nerves were on edge. Kayla could sense the tension as Gerard's eyes fell on Reid. The two looked similar- Aside from the facial hair. They had same blonde hair, however- Gerard's hair was longer and, wavy whereas Reid's was short and, straight. Reid already didn't like the man that was responsible for torturing others like him. Descendant or not Reid didn't agree with his decisions.

"Please, we-we need your help." Kayla's voice broke the heavy silence once again. Gerard's eyes moved to her from staring down Reid. Gerard opened his mouth clearly about to protest. "It's about Adrienne," Kayla added quickly. There was a visual change in the man's features at the mention of that name.

Gerard stared at Kayla trying to take her in, "I haven't heard that name in a long time, lass. "

"She-she's." Allen began only to be cut off by Reid.

"She's a bit of a bitch." Gerard blinked at him before chuckling with a quick shake of his head. "I don't know what kind of relationship you'd had with her, but for her to be the haunting spiritual disaster she's turned into. She must've been worse in her life-."

"I'd recommend you'd best shut yer mouth, lad." Gerard cut him off angrily. " I don't think you'd be too happy after having everything ripped from you- being stripped and broken- confessing to crimes that were not things you'd done but, just happenstance and then being burned alive for them. So yes. I'm sure whatever she's done is wrong and terrible- but, remember she is dead. And, she suffered greatly- All because I was trying to save my own skin."

Kayla could feel the grief that weighed this man down for so long in his words. She knew he'd cared about Adrienne deeply, she sighed looking down to the floor. Her focus was out of it- she could hear one of the elder members speaking to Gerard but she couldn't make out the words as the pain began to radiate from the back of her head. She knew Adrienne was fighting to take over again. Kayla brought her hands up and rested her forehead on one of them.

"Hey, you-you alright?" She heard Reid's voice in her ear. Kayla nodded quickly, but Reid already knew something was off.

"Alright, enough of this. Look we need to know what it would take to lock away a witches spirit- after we get her out of another's body?" Reid could hear how insane his question sounded, but he knew they were running out of time. Kayla could only be in control for so long.

Gerard stared at Reid, his face unreadable, he seemed hesitant to give up anything.

"If you're not gonna help us then we'll just send you back to whatever hell-hole you came out of," Reid told him his face showing how serious he was as he held his ancestors gaze.

"Reid-." James began only to be cut off.

"No, dad. Kayla needs help. He's here to give it and, if he isn't going to we shouldn't be sitting here doing nothing- we should be looking for a different way." Reid stood now his irritation only growing. He didn't know what to expect if Adrienne did make an entrance with her ex-lover here. He didn't want to find out, but he knew it was growing closer and closer.

Gerard's eyes moved to the girl seated on the end of the chaise, her back was up against the raised part while her head was held in her hands that had been bound in his bewitched ropes. She'd pulled her knees up to her chest as she rocked slowly back and forth, "Got somethin' to say, Lass?" He asked. Kayla pulled her head up and met his blue eyes with hers only for them flash yellow quickly.

"… Gerard." Kayla's voice had changed, it was soft and full of disbelief. In that moment Reid knew they were screwed.

"Damnit." He heard one of the older men curse.

"She can't perform any magic though, right?" Henri asked from the doorway to the hall. He stood beside Tyler who'd been leaning against the doorframe taking everything in. Suddenly movement caused the guys to back up a pace or two. Kayla's body moved closer to Gerard. "I- is it really you?" Reid wanted to grab her as she passed, but he was in a daze almost watching the pair interact.

"Aye lass." Gerard nodded his blonde head as he made an attempt to reach out only to be limited to where the salt circle laid.

"Oh, Mon amour." Kayla sighed out. "I- I haven't stopped thinking about you- even in death. I-I knew we'd be together again." Kayla made a move to step over the barrier, but it seemed it wouldn't allow her to pass through either. She looked down almost annoyed with the barrier, and before anyone could move an inch she moved over to the burning candle an held her wrists over the flames effectively burning the ropes off her wrists.

"No!" Reid shouted as the guys made their protests known as well within seconds they were all thrown to the floor by unseen forces pinning them there. Reid looked up at Kayla only to see her move slowly towards Gerard.

"Lass, what're you doing? You should be at peace. I took care of everythin' for you, you're daughter. I-I saw to it that your sister didn't go without anything for her." Gerard said his eyes taking on a sad, puppy dog demeanor towards Kayla.

"I know you have, my love. I-I cannot tell you how grateful of that I am. Without you, I know my daughter's life would have ended the way mine had. I know how much of a risk you took- so much so that you'd joined my sister and, child in the new world. You loved her as if she were your own." Kayla continued forwards her hand reaching out pressing up against the invisible barrier only to have a flash of light and push onwards. Gerard's head jerked back in surprise.

"A- Adrienne… What-? How-?" He began the confusion was plain on his face.

"I made deals. I took what power I needed. I may have been dead for centuries, but I've been more active in my craft than I've ever been in life." Gerard looked conflicted, but Kayla- Adrienne continued quickly, "Gerard, can't you see? Everything is right for us now. Our lines have crossed paths again. Our descendants are just as in love as we were. With the power I'm wielding in this body I can make this- us. Permanent." At that last word, Gerard's eyes flicked to the candle that was keeping his presence here. He looked back at Adrienne- her arms snaked up his chest and back around his neck pulling herself against him.

"I can touch you now love." She muttered before reaching up on her tiptoes. Gerard stared down at the woman, he didn't recognize her physically, but he knew that voice and he knew the personality that shown through those devilish eyes. Before he knew it the woman's lips were on his and he felt his eyes close lightly. An image of him and Adrienne together again in his mind's eye. He slid his hands to the slim waist before him. He all but melted into the kiss. The kiss he'd thought he'd lost forever.

Her lips were as gentle and soft as they'd been the last night he'd kissed them. With a groan, his arms tightened their grip and pulled her body closer to his. "Adrienne…" He mumbled as his hands skimmed lower pulling her up onto him. He pressed her against the wall kicking aside the set up that had brought him into this world, from the spiritual plane.

He pulled back long enough to take her in and there she was. Her long dark hair- bright blue eyes. It was as if nothing had changed between the pair. There was a disturbance behind them, but it was quickly put out of mind as the rest of the world faded out. Adrienne's hand trailed down his arm- her other hand had been held out at the moment everything else but them faded. It was like they were alone within the confines of the house.

"Gerard. Please. Don't let this moment pass us…" He heard her say softly. He was conflicted knowing there was more at stake here than just them. Adrienne was making it impossible to think with her feathery touches and, open mouth trailing down his neck.

"My love. Please…" Her soft voice triggering him. "I- I need you. If not forever then just- just for tonight. I've been so alone. Heartbroken."

Gerard pressed his mouth to hers with an edge of roughness to it. "Lass, I-I've missed you."

"And, I too my love." She replied when he pulled back. Her hand slid down his shirt front slowly, deliberately feeling every muscle as it went. His hand slid into her hair pulling her lips to his. His other hand balanced her easily by her bottom between him and the wall.

The pair had been so caught up in their heated reunion they'd forgotten everything else around them. Reid had been yelling at the kissing couple for what felt like forever. He'd tried to reach them and pull the semi-concrete men from his girlfriend, but he found that even with his powers he couldn't break through like Adrienne had. He stood there crushed watching what appeared to be his girlfriend kissing another man.

"Reid. It's not her man." He heard Caleb's voice from behind him.

"Don't you think I know that?" He snapped back his anger at the situation getting the best of him. "I'm well-aware that bitch has taken full control again."

"There- there's got to be a way to get at them… without losing Gerard's connection." Allen said as he flipped through the pages in his book. The men around them had regained their movement the moment Adrienne had sealed her and her lover within the barrier for protection she no longer had control over everyone in the room.

"Find it, Al. Please hurry." James muttered as he stood next to Allen behind all the son's who'd jumped up faster and moved towards the barrier. "I don't know how Reid is going to react to this for much longer." As the words came tumbling out there was a power surge in the room and Reid had thrown a ball of power at the barrier. There was a flash before they watched the barrier simply absorb the power. Reid groaned and with a yell, he kicked over the dining chair that Gerard had left overturned in his haste with Adrienne.

"Reid! You've got to calm-."

"So help me god baby boy. If you tell me to calm down I swear you will not be able to talk for the next week without feeling the bruises from my hands going around your throat." Reid had turned outraged that Tyler would even suggest such a thing.

Tyler had opened his mouth at the right moment given the sight of the couple within the hazy force field. Gerard had stripped Kala of her shirt and dropped it carelessly on the floor- it was made clear then that the pair were within their own world totally unaware of what was happening around them. Pogue was standing alongside his brothers his mind racing for a way to break the force field before things escalated even more. He realized it when Reid had sent yet another shock of power for the barrier to absorb.

"Reid! Wind!" He cried out moving to the other side of Caleb.

"What?" Reid snapped his face showing his confusion.

"Blow the salt away. The salt is the barrier that we put down, right? Well, what if that is-." Pogue didn't get to finish his statement before a strong gust blew through the room. Slowly but surely the salt began to blow away breaking the half circle that kept the couple in their own world. Reid heaved a breath no doubt feeling tired from the power he'd used attempting ways to break the barrier. Thinking quickly Caleb and Pogue lurched forwards grabbing an unsuspecting Gerard and pulling him back while Tyler raced over to an unsteady Kayla and wrapped her arms up in yet another set of ropes that Henri had grabbed from the cellar. Within moments the chaos died down and order was restored. Kayla's hands were tied and she was sat in the dining chair as far from the burning candle as they could put her. Reid had managed to wrap her in his sweater and zip it up her arms tucked inside it. Gerard looked on dazed his shirt pulled open more so then it had been when he'd arrived. All the while Reid just glared daggers from Kayla's side of the room.

"We need answers from you. Now. Or I am going to blow out the candle and, you'll be left to rot in whatever hell we dragged you from." Reid had broken his silence looking past his brother's who'd been chatting about different books to look in for answers. He looked past his father and the elders burning his gaze of hatred to the man seated in another dining chair at the opposite wall.

There was a giggle from his side and Kayla was smirking. "I'm sincerest apologies… It's just- you think I hadn't thought of that the minute I learned of your plan to summon Gerard. His power has been restored to its strength with the help of your two friends there," At her last words she nodded in the direction of Tyler and Pogue. "With his strength restored his presence can withstand that of the mere candle flickering out." Kayla laughed now a girlish giggle. "Go on then. Continue on with your idle threats. Extinguish the flame and see what happens, Mon amant." Her last two words were a sarcastic jab to Reid now that she no longer needed his presence to keep her lover in the physical world.

Reid's defiant side came out, and he walked over while licking his forefinger and thumb before pinching the wick on the candle. The room stilled as all eyes moved to Gerard. Who's presence was as solid as ever, Gerard stood slowly staring at his hands in awe. "How-? I don't-." His eyes moved up from his hands across to Kayla in awe.

Before anyone could stop it Reid came at Gerard with fists flying.
