Again. Unfortunately, the only parts I can take ownership for is Kayla, Gerard and the majority of the parents. Adrienne D'heur is very loosely based off of an actual person in history.

Chapter 10: The Exorcist

The room broke out in chaos, and the only still person was Kayla who was currently tied up and unable to use her powers. Caleb and Pogue had attempted to grab Reid after he managed a punch to Gerard's face. Tyler placed himself between the pair- but, Gerard simply stood there. He knew just what Reid must've been thinking. He knew it was wrong for him to have reacted the way he did to Adrienne but, in his defense- he wasn't seeing his girlfriend Kayla while he was kissing her.

"Who the fuck do you think you are coming in here and just-?!" Reid had been ranting after he first landed his punch to the man that brought about so many negative emotions.

"Enough, Reid!" His father's booming voice sounded throughout the room, "This is obviously a difficult situation-."

"Difficult?!" Reid roared back. His anger now having a different target, "Difficult?! How the fuck could you possibly classify this type of situation as just difficult. We summoned fuckface over here to help us get rid of his long-lost love that's currently occupying the woman I can't live without! The only thing he's done successfully thus far is make out and grope my girlfriend!" Reid was breathing hard from exertion. "And, now our one leverage over him to make sure he helps us is gone." As Reid finished his statement the weight of his words settled over the crowd in the room.

Kayla scoffed from behind all the men surprising them, "You think it's unfair, do you?" She asked. "Try being killed for crimes you didn't commit." She finished her face set with a hard expression.

"Tell me, what crimes did Kayla commit against you? What did she do to deserve to be stuffed in a dark corner so deep down in her own mind she's unable to communicate and be let out?" Reid asked rounding on the woman currently taking possession of Kayla's body. Kayla- Adrienne simply turned her head in response to his questions, she was giving him the cold shoulder because she knew he was right. She didn't care. Her eyes fell on Gerard, and she felt her heart fluttering within her and she knew then that she was doing what was right. She had her own bargain to live up to, one that didn't include the safety of this kid's precious girlfriend.

"I'm sorry, lad." Gerard's accented voice rang out. Reid's head almost spun around with how quick he looked to his ancestor. "A-all I saw was Adrienne, and everything melted away."

"Well, she's not-."

"She looked like her." Gerard quickly cut the young man off. "Within the boundary spell- Adrienne is who I saw. Not her. Not Kayla." As he spoke his hand absently moved up to rub his sore jaw.

Reid remained silent knowing this was as good of an apology that he'd get. Which was more than what he could say for Kayla, and her ancestor, "Please, Gerard, We- I. I need your help in figuring out how to get my girlfriend back." Reid's emotions were raw, and he could hear the break in his voice at his last statement.

"Well, the first thing I need to know is how she came to be in her body."

"Gerard! No!" Reid had begun to explain how everything happened, but the minute he opened his mouth Kayla's voice exploded throughout the room. Everyone turned to look, and the found a very angry, dark expression. "I did this for us! I did this all for you! How- How could you-?!"

"We had our chance, lass. Clearly, it wasn't meant to be." He replied tiredly. "We're dead, and upsetting the natural balance of things has massive consequences.

"How could you say that? After all that I've done?! How-? I love you!" She yelled now pulling at her bindings angrily.

Gerard sighed his gaze focused on Reid now, "Look, you've got to tell me everything." He said calmly ignoring Kayla- Adrienne now as she shouted obscenities from the opposite side of the room struggling against the magical rope binding her in her seat.

"Maybe we ought to take this conversation in another room, then?" Gerard asked with a slight tilt of his head in the direction of the doorway to the kitchen. Reid nodded as he led the way into the other room. He dug around in his pocket to pull out the drawing of the symbol currently seared into Kayla's back. He handed off the note to Gerard who'd looked at the paper with a confused expression but took it none the less. Reid watched his eyes widen at the drawing, "Whoa."

"What?" Reid asked sharply. He didn't like the way this was turning out.

"This- this is heavy stuff. It's a demon-."

"Yes, we got that so far. It's Amnixiel. We don't really know much of what that means though, or how that answers any of our questions."

"I- I personally never got tangled up with demons. They tend to leave the living alone. It's souls that they trade in. So what- whatever Adrienne's gotten herself into she's sold something- something big to get it." Reid stared at the bulkier man before him taking in the familiar blue eyes, and blonde hair. He was trying to get a read on Gerard- checking for any signs of lying, but he found none. The eyes shining back at him were as bright, and clear as they'd been since he got here. Gerard had nothing to hide from them, but Reid still didn't have to like the guy.

"Well, how the hell are we gonna get the information we need? That woman in the other room is not going to give us an inch of information."

"Seems like you boys summoned the wrong entity tonight, lad. You lot need yourselves a demon." He told Reid with all seriousness in his expression.

"Have you ever-?" Reid began after a moment of silence passed between the pair.

"Once. It was before I left my home town. It's not fun." Reid just stared at the man- he didn't expect it to be all fun times ahead of them. He knew life would not be that easy, with a heavy sigh Reid looked back up at the man before him from the floor.

"We're gonna need your help, can we trust you?"

Gerard stared at Reid, their gazes locked on one another, "Reid, I'll do everything in my power to help you and, your girlfriend."

"What do you want in return?" Reid questioned him quickly.

"I want to go back, where I was, alone and, hopefully in peace this time. You don't realize how right you were when you said you'd send me back to whatever hell you dragged me from. I wasn't a good person in life, Reid. I was selfish, and I'm looking to make up for my mistakes, lad. I truly believe that the opportunity has presented itself to me now. It's an opportunity I don't intend to just allow to pass me by." Gerard told him quickly before adding, "I'm not just doing this for that though. I'm doing this because there's no need for you and your love to suffer the same fate Adrienne and I did all those years ago. You'll have her back again, that I promise you, lad."

Reid felt Gerard's hand heavily on his shoulder before the older man walked back into the other room resulting in Kayla's voice to ring out even louder with more unpleasantness. Heaving a sigh Reid moved on to the cupboards as he took out a bottle of something that would numb his mind and, quickly took a swig. The shouting was what pulled Reid away. He quickly put his bottle down and moved back towards the living room. Each of the men was pinned back. Reid scanned the room quickly only to find it empty aside from the men against the walls.

"What happened?!" He yelled as they all thudded to the floor. At no one's answer, Reid yelled again. Caleb pushed himself up with a saddened face, "She vanished. I-I'm sorry, Reid. One minute she was sitting with the cuffs on and the next she disappeared." Reid growled out a response that no one understood as he moved to grab his jacket off the nearest armchair and walked out of the house in search of his possessed girlfriend.

He had driven the Honda around town showing up at a few local places. However, he only knew where Kayla would have gone. Not Adrienne. He huffed as he pulled the car over to the side of a deserted road unsure of where to go. It was well into the early morning now, and he was running out of places to search. He huffed tiredly before a person suddenly sat beside him in the car. He jumped with a yell as he looked to see it was Kayla.

"Reid, wait!" He heard her voice and paused before he was about to toss the section ropes he'd taken from the Danver's house around her. "It-it's me." She told him tearfully. It was clear she'd been crying.

He knew right away it was Kayla, and immediately reacted unsure of how much time he'd actually have with her. Leaning in he held himself over the center console swiftly pressing his mouth to hers. "I've. Been. So. Worried. About you." He told her in between quick kisses. He clutched her to him like she'd turn to dust any minute.

"Reid." She told him, her voice breathless. "I'm sorry-. I'm so-." Her voice broke as her eyes welled up with fresh tears.

"Shhh," He said to her trying to calm her down. "I'm here now. Your-your safe." He half pulled her into his lap where he simply hugged her to his body. He felt her muscles relaxing against him. She just fit perfectly. He knew there would be no one to follow, if the worst were to happen. Kayla was it for him; not only did she understand what he went through with the powers, but she grounded his fiery personality. He needed her, now that he's been with her for the last year he couldn't see a future without her in it.

"I'm not safe. I won't be safe, not until Adrienne is gone." She paused taking a breath as she leaned against the steering wheel, "The- The things that she made me do tonight-. God, Reid, I-I'm sorr." She said. Her voice was soft and broken. Reid wanted badly to take away all her pain, all her hurt, but he didn't know how to approach this situation. He needed someone who knew what to do.

"We need to go to the church for help. We won't be able to-." Reid began as her head weighed heavily on his shoulder. She sat up looking at him with watery eyes, her nose and cheeks were red from her crying. Kayla felt a lump forming in her throat as flashes of things she could remember doing earlier that night to Gerard, in front of Reid floated through her mind. The burning sensation was just behind her eyes as they watered more.

Kayla closed her eyes trying to shut the pain out, leaning in quickly she kissed Reid. Desperately almost. Her hands grabbed his shirt- she, of course, was still wearing his orange hoodie, her fists clenched the fabric tightly as her mouth pressed against his. She could sense Reid's hesitation. She knew he was thinking of ways to protect her, but how was he going to do that when the danger was within her.

"Just-Just kiss me. We can talk later." She muttered softly against his lips. "Please." She added between kissing him. Her hands slid down from his shoulders over his arms, Kayla pressed herself tightly against his front. She leaned back pulling away from him to reach down behind her for the lever that controlled the seats positioning. It jerked back quickly surprising the pair, then she went in for the kill. As they continued to kiss like tonight was their last night together, Reid reached for the handle that reclined the seat, and before he knew it Kayla was draped over him. He had one hand steadying her, by holding on to her back pressing her down to the safety of his arms, she groaned softly when Reid's mouth moved down over her neck. Her hands went towards the zipper on the hoodie as she sat up pulling away to unzip it before quickly sliding it down her arms only to toss it in the back. Her hands ran down his chest to the hem of Reid's shirt, he lifted his hips, arching his back as Kayla yanked it up and over his head. That article of clothing quickly found its way in the back seat within seconds the pair had their jeans off.

"Kay, I love you," Reid mumbled against her mouth as they kiss.

Kayla pulled back slightly a ghost of a smile on her lips-slightly swollen from kissing, "I love you too, Reid." With those words hanging in the air, the two shifted around until he was pressed against her core. She moved quickly capturing Reid inside of her. Kayla gasped loudly as he began to rock up against her.

She placed her hand on his pectorals to keep her balance, within minutes Kayla was moving with him as the couple set a rhythm, and continued from there. Her eyes stayed on him the whole time. They paced it slow, and leisurely. Reid couldn't help but, feel as though this was the last night they would be together. He didn't want to ruin anything, or push Kayla over the precarious edge she was already on so he didn't say anything. He just pulled her close and kept on going.

Kayla sat up, her fingers interlocking with his as her hips movements increased in speed. "Reid." She gasped. He could sense that she was close, so he clenched his jaw tighter and continued on, picking up his pace.

He felt Kayla's body become stiff as her hips jerked in hectic movements. She cried out his name in her climax, with his own following soon after. Kayla was lying over Reid in the driver seat to her Honda Accord, simply basking in the relaxed atmosphere, the sun had just begun to peek up over the horizon as they laid there, just soaking in each others presence.

"I'm scared, Reid. I don't want to hurt anyone else. I don't want to wake up from having chunks of time missing. I don't want to lose you." She added the last part as she turned to look at his face. She held it gently in her hands before leaning in to smoothly press her lips to his.

"I can't-. I just can't." She told him her voice breaking. Red could see the struggle going on in Kayla's mind. She was terrified to remain under the control of Adrienne, but without an exorcism, Reid wasn't sure what he could do for his girlfriend. "I love you, Reid." She told him, her mouth up by his ear.

"I love you too, Kayles…." He trailed off as she moved about over him. "Why-why are you acting like that? You're making me feel like… Like I have to say goodbye to you. I'm not losing you, Kayla. I-I can't-. I really can't even think about my life without you in it. I know we can get through this, and I'm not giving up." As Reid spoke he made a move to sit up which resulted in Kayla moving over the center console to the backseat where she began dressing while handing Reid his clothes.

"Where-where're we going?" She asked him softly.

"Nowhere, just yet. Wait here, babe." He told her as he slid his pants on and move out of the car, as he zipped and buttoned them. He slid his shirt over his head once the cool morning air hit him. He reached into his pocket and took the number from his pocket out quickly dialing it on his phone, then he waited for Father Chad, The Exorcist, to pick up

Reid knew his dad and, the others were going to tear him a new one for inviting an outsider into their circle, but the bottom line was that Kayla needed help, and as far as anyone was concerned they had no experience in exorcisms. He had no choice but, to reach out to some else for help. Adrienne needed to be locked away for them to even begin working on pushing her back to the other side or where ever the hell she came from.
