Blue eyes narrowed in defiance, and she shot at him, widening the berth between him and Kagura. The edge of her fan flicked again, slashes of youki shifting from white to maroon, circling back after he dodged.
As more tentacles reached for her, Kagome shot again, distracting him long enough for one of Kagura's blades to connect his armour, spikes shattering and falling to the ground.
He seemed surprised at that, pausing for a moment before sighing and raising his hand, miasma choking them as a barrage of tentacles exploded from his back. Kagome released another arrow, but her aim was off, reiki arching high over their heads as one of his appendages wrapped around Kagura's neck.
She let out a startled gasp, clawing at scales, and Kagome formed a barrier around herself, cleansing the poisonous smog as she nocked another arrow. The creature smirked, landing on the ground a little ways from her, Kagura struggling in front of him.
The coward was using her as a shield.
"Let her go," Kagome seethed, refusing to lower her weapon.
"And why would I do that?" he asked, plucking the remaining feathers from Kagura's hair, the white plumes disintegrating in his palm. "I rather like this position. It gives me an edge. You wouldn't dare attack your guardian."
Kagura tried to swipe at him, but his grip on her only tightened. "What are you on about now?"
He sighed again, running a hand through his hair. "This would be much more entertaining if I didn't have to explain everything."
