Sooo….. As I mentioned in the previous Author's Note, I have zero excuse for this having taken so long. Have I dealt with a lot of stuff? Yes. Have I had a hard time? Hell yes. But that does not mean it was okay to leave this hanging for over two years. So without further ado, here is Chapter 15 with the rest of the story soon to follow. I hope you enjoy!
*Dani*
After the three of them agreed the place did in fact look too clean, it was easy to figure out from there just who had cleaned it. It was just obvious, especially with a new Ecto-Filtrator in place. It caused Dani's heart to ache a bit to know Danny had gone to this place he hated as much as her for however long he'd been there in order to hide from his own parents. That wasn't something they could worry about right now, though. Everything would be disastrous all around if they didn't get to Jazz in time, after all.
Tucker didn't even have to hack them into the Portal after a couple cracks at the password which Danielle wished Danny had changed. "Maddie Masters" was so uncomfortable to hear, especially since it had been months since any of them had dealt with Vlad. To be quite frank, Dani hoped the Fruit Loop had been hit with an asteroid himself since he'd almost caused the Earth to be destroyed by one. Karmatic justice, right? There wasn't time to think on it then, however, as they loaded back up into the Speeder and Sam started them off through the Portal. Dani bounced her leg as she sat nervously in the back seat, watching Sam steer and Tucker get the map pulled up to guide them to Walker's Jail. Dani hadn't dealt with Walker personally at all, but she had met Wulf and some others who spoke poorly of the ghostly warden. It didn't help the general atmosphere that all three of them had recognized an issue with going to Walker. They'd be in his territory, and a Fenton Thermos couldn't help. For him to have Jazz captive, that meant he must've gotten his hands on something to hold her there unless Jazz didn't know about how humans could behave in the Ghost Zone… Which Dani supposed was possible.
The flight was surprisingly short compared to the distance from Amity Park- both to Wisconsin and from the Fenton Portal to the Jailhouse. Once they were hovering outside the building, they finally broke the silence.
"Okay, game plan. What weapons do you have, Sam?" Tucker started, opening one of the front compartments in the dash of the Speeder to get some out for himself. His parents were more observe, so he didn't have any powerful ones that he kept. He mainly just kept a Thermos.
"Ring Ray and a blaster," she answered promptly, pulling said blaster from the left side pocket in her black cargo pants. It was different than the usual Fenton models, obviously meant for stealth with the slim and small design of it. Dani guessed Maddie had likely invented it for Sam and knew the ring was Danny's idea for her. It fit in well, disguised as a normal ring next to the class ring Danny had also given her.
"I've really got to start carrying things around more." His pockets were always full of his tech, though, so for now, he pulled out an average Ecto-Blaster from the second glove compartment. "Are we sneaking in or what?"
Sam thought on it for a moment as she was the one who had dealt with Walker the most before though she didn't have much better of an idea on how to go about fighting him. If only… But no, Danny wasn't with and couldn't be with. Not with all the issues they had built up. Sam hoped Danny didn't even know about all the troubles they were going through with this. So they would save Jazz instead. "We should try to sneak in. We already know he has Jazz as a hostage. We've got to be able to find her and get her out."
"Right…. Shouldn't we just use the Real World Items Detector?" Tucker suggested with the latter part. Sam paused a moment before turning the detector on. Dani wished she could do more than she currently was, but she was smart. She knew it was a horrible idea to charge in head-first without even mentioning Walker had is Construct guards.
It took a few moments before the sensor went off, showing two blips right on top of one another. "You don't think they have someone else, do you?" Dani asked quickly.
"Guess we'll find out." Sam took the Speeder straight downwards. "Dani, you might want to go back to normal so you don't get stuck outside of the building, and can you make us invisible, please? I'm going to get us lined up then move the Speeder upwards through the floor of whatever room she's in."
"Yeah, of course." Dani morphed back as asked, feeling vulnerable for it since they were in the middle of the Ghost Zone, and concentrated enough to turn the whole Speeder invisible. It was a bit rougher than usual as she felt her stomach twist in hunger and breathing grow a bit harder. She'd broken a few ribs the day before and eaten nothing in probably twelve hours, after all, so those were both rather natural things to happen which meant she'd worry about it later.
Sam guided the Speeder silently under the hovering land mass below the Jailhouse and slowly took them upwards, worrying initially for impact of course though none occurred as they went up into the ground. She kept the movements slow as they went which had Dani on the edge of her seat but focused on keeping them invisible until they were out of the ground and in an interrogation room where Jazz was sitting on the floor of a floating cage, thankfully unharmed. The fact she hadn't accidentally sunk out through it or anything of the sort made Dani wonder immediately if the cage was actually made for people to be in. The more bizarre part? Nobody was in the room with her, and the door was closed. Sam seemed to recognize this as odd, too, but didn't have time to take them back down into the floor to discuss before Tucker messed up.
"Jazz! Come on, you can phase through that in the ghost zone," he said quickly (at least rather quietly), having put the window down a small bit for the words to get to her though the vehicle was still invisible.
Jazz's eyes snapped open, seeming surprised for a moment and shaking her head to the seemingly empty room. That was… Off-putting for Dani, but she supposed if Jazz couldn't get out on her own then it was a mission for Dani. "You two wait underground," Dani murmured to Sam who started to argue but obliged in taking the Speeder downwards. As they Speeder went downwards, Dani let off the invisibility and phased out of it before they went under. If need be, she could go into the ground, but she couldn't go into the Speeder once more at the same time. Dani silently walked over, on edge somewhat, expecting someone to come in and catch her. It worried her what they might've already done to Jazz to have her this quiet and unresponsive. Nevertheless, she got over to Jazz's cage and very carefully tapped it with her fingertips to make sure it wouldn't set off an alarm or electrocute her or anything. Nothing. Which was not settling well in the pit of her stomach, but she had to get Jazz out. She reached out again and hesitantly made the cage intangible for Jazz to get out… which she did with no problem.
"Well… that was easier than I thought," Dani murmured, stepping back over a bit and raising her voice only slightly. "Sam, Tucker. Come back up. I've got-" but her words cut off as pain ripped through her and out of her mouth as a scream, dropping to the ground and convulsing at the electricity running into her by the taser prongs stabbed into her back.
Sam and Tucker rose in the Speeder, both going wide-eyed at the sight. Particularly at the tall red-head holding the weapon with a wicked smile.
Even after two years, I still love leaving y'all with cliff-hangers. Don't worry, though! Next chapter will be up tomorrow! I don't want to post them all at once because I'll tire myself out on writing, so one a day until it's finished is what I'm going to try my best to do. Let me know what you all think!
