Redemption

Yami has done unspeakable things to Yugi and Yugi has only begun to heal. Only now Yami is out of jail and searching for him, but is anything the way it seems? Final installment of the MINE! trilogy. WARNING rape, abuse and possible character death(maybe).

Chapter 9: It's Always Darkest Before the Dawn

Harper was sitting on the couch with the TV on, but she had not paid the show any attention. She didn't care much for television, but she hated silence. So she used it as background noise while reading or studying. At this moment she was finishing homework.

Yugi and Joey were in the kitchen playing a long game of Duel Monsters. It felt good, like everything had fallen into place after all this time. It felt like Yugi could finally rest his head and stop looking over his shoulder every other minute.

Joey was only half paying attention to what he was doing. Too busy watching his family. He'd never been this happy in his life. All he needed was right here; everything he could ever wish for. This was it, this was what he always wanted.

There is no greater joy in life than family. They were always there for each other and never let each other down.

Two Years Ago...

Serenity's head was swimming, her ears were ringing and her eyes couldn't focus on anything. She was vaguely aware of two voices arguing. Suddenly there was a thunderous noise and a bright flash. And then two voices, so similar she could barely tell them apart.

"You must be stopped!"

"I didn't hear you complaining before!"

"Before you evaded my visions. Now I see your end."

"As if you could ever!"

"I shall let my actions speak for me."

The demon, Yami, lunged for Atem, using all the strength it could to push the pharaoh back into the mirror.

Atem, however, was too fast and powerful for the demon to comprehend. He kicked Yami in the right temple, knocking the demon to the ground, dazed.

"You don't get to hurt my friends any longer!" Atem growled "Return to Hades, you beast!"

Atem grabbed Yami roughly by his hair and threw him into the mirror. Which was now a picture of eternal flame and suffering.

"No, no!" Yami yelled, "You have not seen the last of me! I will find a way back! I will torment you again! You hear me pharaoh? I will rape and torture all that you hold dear in this mortal world!"

"I will be waiting, you pathetic worm. You will never win. These are my friends, my family, you will never lay hands on them again. If you dare to try I will destroy you."

Once the image was gone and the demon vanquished Atem turned his attention to Serenity. She was still out of it.

He placed a hand on the side of her face and sent her into a deep slumber. He then carefully untied her and clothed her.

"You won't remember this, Serenity. I'm so sorry, I should have come sooner." Atem began to cry

He lifted Serenity's sleeping body into his arms.

"None of this should have ever happened. The best I can do is to make all of this seem like a fading dream. You will feel no pain. You will be healed. Live your life, Serenity, live it to it's fullest."

He kissed her forehead, and using borrowed magic from Mahad, he sent her back to her dorm bedroom.

When he was done cleaning up Yami's mess he knew he had one more matter to attend to.

The Wheeler's House

Joey was awakened by a knock at the door. Lazily he shuffled to answer it.

"You!" Anger flared in Joey's mind

"No, please wait. It's me Joey, it's Atem."

Joey unclenched his fists.

"That's-that's not possible."

"I'm sorry, I didn't know what was happening until it was too late."

"How is this possible? How are you here right now."

"I'm using a lot of magic and it will fade soon, but I needed so make amends for that demons mistakes." Atem felt tears sliding down his checks again

Joey pulled the pharaoh into a tight hug.

"You've done everything you can. Go rest now. I'll take care of Yugi. I promise."

Both men were crying freely now.

"I know you will, Joey. I know how much you love him."

Atem's physical form began to fade.

"I-I'm.." He started

"It's okay." Joey wiped at his tears, "Go, we'll always have you in our hearts, Atem. We'll meet again one day."

And with that the pharaoh dissipated back to the After, awaiting the day he and his friends would meet again in the Afterlife.
