This is a lot later in the day than I had anticipated (today was just surprisingly rough), but I'm still going to try to get the final chapter out tonight! I have my plan for it. I just have to write it out now.

The flight back was long but surprisingly peaceful as the four of them were settling down more. Jazz was slowly feeling better physically though it led to her worrying about Dani more (and Danny for that matter). Dani remained sleeping most of the ride until they were almost to Amity Park, groggily waking up and clearly not wanting to be awake yet. Sam and Tucker were banged up some but didn't mind it so much. Sam figured she and Tuck could maybe stay around a while to make sure Dani was alright and see if maybe Danny would come back from all the trouble that had been caused. At least the problem of Walker was done with and maybe the Fenton parents would be a bit more receptive to their thoughts on Danny's powers. Hopefully.

Finally, they arrived back at FentonWorks with Sam parking the Speeder in front of the garage so that Dani wouldn't try phasing them through anything. It could stay outside until Danny returned. Jazz led the way into the house, figuring it'd be best for her parents to see her first—mostly unharmed and definitely alive. Dani quickly grabbed the back of her shirt and tugged her back before the redhead could shout for them, though, whispering.

"Ghost. Let me go check it out."

"What? No, you're not using your powers. Not when you're this unwell," Jazz protested immediately. True, she had no proper way to stop Dani if she went to do something, but thankfully Dani had to concede. The girl was even more stubborn than Danny, but she could recognize how weak she was without being stabilized again. She didn't want to fall to pieces… She didn't want to die. When she was sure Dani wasn't going to run off, Jazz continued. "Sam, take upstairs. Tucker, this floor. Dani, the both of us can check downstairs." She knew she wasn't the usual one to give orders (even when Danny wasn't there other times), but this was her house and her parents in danger.

The four of them split up, Jazz leading the way to the basement stairs with Dani close behind though she picked up a gun from a compartment in the wall to give to Dani and another for herself first. Thankfully, the basement door was silent as she opened it, voices coming up from them. It was a familiar one, but she couldn't quite place it right away from how quiet it was. Dani's face drained, though, and she tugged at Jazz to back away from the door.

"We need a thermos. Now."

"There's one up in my room." She changed the direction and lead the way up to the top floor, motioning for Sam and Tucker to each follow her as they passed. Once in Jazz's room, she got the thermos from her nightstand drawer while Dani quietly answered the unspoken question.

"Spectra."

"Dammit," Sam murmured. "Think we can surprise her? Get her into the thermos without too much of a fight?" Jazz shrugged. They'd have to see. Once more, Jazz led the way as they snuck down… Why was the basement door shut again? She knew she hadn't shut it and realized she should have. Now they didn't have any sort of surprise possible because Spectra had to know… Nonetheless, she stepped over towards the door to open it again with the thermos at the ready before being punched hard in the gut and thrown backwards into the others who fell with her except Dani who managed to jump back in time.

Two of Walker's guards materialized, blocking the door, and jumped straight at the chance to attack. Chaos ensued as the fight started with ectoblasts going every which direction with Jazz and co working to get up and defend themselves while Walker's guards were never to best at fighting and were outnumbered. They were constructs with no real substance; they did as Walker told them to as part of his powers. After all, a warden needs guards.

It would have been over rather quickly if not for the giant green hornet that zipped up into the room through the floor. Bertrand was much more difficult to fight, but they still had the numbers against him. When one of Walker's guards was down and promptly sucked into the thermos, Jazz took the first chance she saw to run across to the basement door. It was clear Bertrand and the guards were trying to keep them away, so that was exactly where she needed to go. She got the door open, but a blast from Bertrand caught her shoulder and knocked her down to tumble downstairs.

She ignored the pain and pulled herself up, taking aim with the ectogun in her hand before registering the room. A small part of her was relieved because it could be so much worse but the rest was her stomach flipping. Spectra was in her human appearance with each of her clawed nails pressed against the necks of her parents, ready to dig in at a moment's notice. What hurt on top of that was the lack of fight her parents obviously had. They didn't seem to have fought at all… Spectra smiled wickedly at seeing Jazz.

"Ah, Jasmine. So glad you could join us. Have a good trip?" she asked, voice sickly sweet like usual. She was clearly in her element with this… which was incredibly dangerous for her. Calm. She had to stay calm. The more upset and nervous she got, the stronger Spectra would be.

"Can't say it was, no." Definitely had to stay calm and think. She glanced around carefully, hoping Dani, Sam, and Tucker would be able to keep Bertrand and the other guard busy upstairs.

"Want to talk about it? Get those emotions out?"

"Not to you."

Spectra just continued to smile. She knew she had the upper hand—that much was plain as could be to anyone, let alone Jazz. "Aw, don't think so highly of me anymore? You sure did when you asked me to help you little brother."

Think, think… Spectra got her youth from absorbing the emotions of teenagers, so why then was she making two grown adults miserable? "Maybe before I knew you were the one making him worse."

The answer was easy, especially with what she'd just said. To make Danny and herself feel horrible and feed from that. "I don't put the thoughts there. I just bring them out."

But it'd only last for so long… unless… She planned on- "You're not good for anyone, but you don't even need me telling you that… Were you alive once?" Spectra kept her expression smooth, but Jazz figured it was worth a shot to turn things around. "You were, weren't you? Were you as sadistic then?" Her mother's eyebrows furrowed together a bit.

"How adorable. You're trying to use the same therapy on me," she retorted, but her eyes flashed a bit. Jazz was doing her best to keep herself calm, especially once she noticed the movement behind Spectra.

"Calling what you do as therapy is a disrespect to the profession." That got a bit more of a rise out of her from the way her eyes flashed.

"Coming from a girl who isn't nearly as smart as she th-" she managed to get out before her reply was cut off as Dani shot a powerful blast at her from behind so she wouldn't dig into Maddie's and Jack's necks then she quickly fired up the Thermos. Not that Spectra went in easily. She clawed along the floor, screaming as she was dragged until finally it was silenced by her snapping into the cylinder and the cap being shoved on.

Jazz hurried over to check on her parents who were already looking better but ended up going past to Dani even quicker as the younger girl hit the floor. "Dani! Dani, can you hear me?" Jazz asked quickly, reaching out to help her before pulling back a bit. She was melting. So much worse than before. "Dani, no no no, come on and wake up. You have to pull yourself together!" There was movement behind her as Maddie stood and stepped over. She was clearly out of it mostly but knew that something was wrong.

"Jazz…?"

"Mom, quick. Do you have anything that can help?" Hurried footsteps echoed as Sam and Tucker came downstairs, catching the last part.

"Danny said Ecto-Dejecto helped last time. I think he said there's more somewhere," Sam added in quickly. It was obvious there wasn't much time to work with.

"I don't have anymore. We couldn't perfect it to shrink ghosts, so we scrapped it…" Maddie answered slowly, beyond unnerved.

"Danny would've kept it somewhere just for this. Tucker and I will go look." And with that, the two ran back up the stairs to go search everywhere they could. Jazz couldn't take her eyes off Dani to go help. This couldn't happen. They had to find it, to help her. They were the only people in the world she trusted, the people she could call family… They couldn't let her down.

Maddie slowly kneeled beside Jazz, looking on in growing horror. "What.. What's happening to her?"

Jazz answered mechanically, surprised she could even find her voice in trying not to cry. "She… She's not stabilized anymore. She got- She got electrocuted, and I guess it messed with her badly enough that it caused this." Electrocuted. That rang a bell in Maddie's mind for a moment before she remembered. She had electrocuted her. Was this her fault? Was it… Was it because of her that Dani, a child, was… was dying?

The tension broke after a moment, though, as footsteps met their ears again. "I've got some!" Sam shouted, taking the steps two at a time and rushing over. She wasted no time in uncapping it and twisting the spray to open. Jazz got up and pulled Maddie back, unsure of exactly what was wrong, and Sam pressed down the button.

Nothing happened for an incredibly long moment before slowly Dani's body started repairing itself, turning the vivid green ectoplasm on the floor back into her natural shape and self. None of them had been there the first time to know the differences, but it was clear she'd be more okay than she had been twenty seconds before.

Jazz made it until after she'd shakily carried Dani upstairs to lay on the couch and watched her breathing steadily that she finally broke down into sobs at the release of so much stress.

So, uhm, how many feels were in this? The whole "rough day" thing definitely came out into it. It's all good, though. On to writing chapter 19! The final chapter!
