Ch 6: Blood Red Danger

With a long walk to the bridges, when the elevator opened there was Udina waiting for us. As I recall, it was at this time that Udina and Anderson were talking before the commander arrived, just to let him know that Anderson was leaving his position as commanding officer.

This time it did not happen exactly like that, Anderson told the two of them that he was leaving his post, surprising them in different ways.

Udina was surprised for the best, it seemed like good news, somehow he resented the failure of the mission for Anderson to become a Wraith, even though he knew it was Saren's fault. I guess he thought Anderson might have known what Saren was planning.

The Commander didn't know why his captain resigned, his surprise was in a bad way, we both knew that with his help on the ship this could be over, but he insisted on staying, even if paperwork wasn't his thing.

He told the 3 of us about his mission with Saren, how the latter was helped by Anderson to capture alive the scientist who was in a refinery, a simple mission since it was practically in and out, but Saren had other plans.

As in the past Anderson knew that Saren was going to be his partner in that mission, he allowed himself to investigate everything about him.

Disturbing facts about openly declaring himself a human opponent... Somehow I understood but did not support it, we want to be the center of everything and that's why half the galaxy hates us.
This motivated Anderson to investigate further, and he was helped by Anita Goyle, who mentioned to him that the basis of his hatred for humans may have been formed after he lost his brother in the First Contact War.

And so, during his training with Saren, Anderson felt that at any moment the Turian would shoot him in the back, the obvious murder being concealed by the Council, not wanting to get their most effective Spectre into trouble.
Until at last the day of the mission arrived, ending in the fateful event that to this day continues to haunt Anderson. He knew he could do nothing but blame himself for what happened.
After the whole story, Commander Shepard's resentment to Saren increased, not showing it with movement or expressions, but it was obvious putting together what happened on Eden Prime. Saren was to blame for everything and he intended to find him.

We watched as Anderson left with Udina for the elevator, the door closing in the cross gaze of the commander and the one he considers his friend and commanding officer.

"I'm sorry commander," I said. This guilt of not telling her anything would continue to haunt me until I tell her about everything I know.

Understanding, Shepard guided me inside with a hand on my shoulder "It's not your fault, I guess it's something that had to happen in order to continue."
Compared to the game, this time his voice sounded softer this time, calmer, may be because of the fact that to his eyes I am a child or may be because of what I went through, not wanting to delve into the pending issue at the moment.

When the 2 of us decided to enter the Normandy, we got a surprise, Tali was in the decontamination room, who knows how long she had been here, is the doubt that assailed us.

She was sitting down, and just when she saw us she immediately stood up, finishing to settle her suit that apparently she had taken it off to be well disinfected and that nothing would interrupt her pilgrimage... again.

"Oh... ummmm... They're back" she said nervously, stretching her armor in the wrinkled places. "I'm so sorry, I was... I was..."

"I read about the Quarians a while back, no need to apologize" interrupted the commander with a slight smile "It's amazing to know how they overcame hardship, admirable."

This impressed Tali, who found herself with the first person who genuinely cared about her race, even if only in a sentence.

Tali's path to where she is now was littered with insults to her race. Wherever she went she would be treated as a thief, all because of a past mistake she didn't make.

Should someone be judged for something their ancestor or species did? Of course not... except for the Batarians, I'm kind of racist towards them.

Between Tali and the commander there was that tension of love, but given the way Tali is, she seemed to me more like a teenager in love with her teacher, she's not exactly bad, but... I think that's why the relationship wasn't happening right now, something that will change with me here.

Just as we entered the Normandy, everyone's eyes would look at us with curiosity, and some with distrust, more because another alien would join the crew.

The commander would quickly realize this, placing himself right in the middle of the corridor that separated the cockpit with the command center, watching the looks of each member that was there, making Tali can get without less pressure to where he felt more comfortable, in the Engineering Room. I supposed that I should go with Tali as well, so I followed her just as she disappeared from the place.

This feeling wasn't like the first time, my brain hadn't finished processing that I was on a spaceship, now it did, and it was amazing. This feeling helped me not to care about the stares that were stuck on my back, I was so far away from them and yet the air of distrust could even be smelled.

As I pressed the button and opened the door I was relieved, starting to slowly walk down the stairs, appreciating everything I could look at, relaxing... but it was too soon for that as I realized I didn't know if it was right to press the elevator button. Maybe the commander wanted to talk to me, going down would only waste his time, but standing there like an idiot in front of the elevator wouldn't help, they might think I was trying to steal something. What if someone asked me what I was doing standing there? Would they ask me for identification?

As I almost finished my descent down the stairs, the commander's voice was heard throughout the ship.

"This is Commander Shepard speaking" he began "We already have our orders: find Saren before he takes over the Conduit. Crew, I'm not going to lie to you. This mission will not be easy and our information is scarce. Over the years our species has been pushed aside, prevented from progressing. This is our chance, the chance to move forward and meet the rest of the galaxy. It's time to show what we humans are made of!"

So far the commander's voice sounded undisturbed, sure of what he was saying, the following would be no different except for one thing, he was worried.

"The enemy knows we are coming. When we reach the Traverse, Saren's followers will be waiting for us. But we will be ready too. Humanity needs to do that, and not alone... During my time at the Citadel, I met comrades who are willing to join the cause to stop Saren, and I promise you all one thing... We're going to stop him!"

"That's so inspiring" I said, now finishing my descent, and looking to the side, spotting the elevator.

I preferred to avoid going downstairs, I wanted the commander to guide me as I was feeling very out of place, deciding to take a stroll through the mess hall. To my bad luck, Kaidan was right there, who was finishing his meal.

Whether in the past or in the now, I'm kind of afraid to deal with him...he was the person I always sacrificed on Virmire, just to get as many girls as possible on my crew. Did I prefer a pretty face to a good friend? Yes... but it made me feel good that I was murdering Ashley for being so stubborn in 3. Now obviously not anymore, I want to keep as many alive as I can.

Now that I was almost face to face with him, I dreaded him talking to me, he seems like the kind of guy who nags you a lot. Still, I came out of my very bad hiding place and headed straight for the Medical Room, having forgotten that Dr. Chakwas suffered a mishap.

Luckily for me, Kaidan stopped me by calling out to me, "Mijael, the Medical Room is in quarantine."

I don't remember telling him my middle name, maybe someone told him, but it sounded strange for him to pronounce it. I turned around just before I opened the door, and gracefully went to the chairs.

"Sorry, with all the technology, I thought there would be a cure by now." Actually, I was partly thinking about that, but I was embarrassed to say that I forgot all too quickly about quarantine.

Kaidan settled into his seat, explaining to me what happened. He knew more since he was here from before.

"This disease is new... Dr. Chakwas panicked when she realized that her sense of smell and taste were gone."

"Can medigel do anything?" I asked, not knowing how to continue.

"By itself, no. Let's hope for the best."

I had a feeling Kaidan didn't trust me... I couldn't blame him, I've demonstrated skills only seen in games and books. I couldn't tell him I have a cure for the doctor because it's not true, but I can help her a little.

"Kaidan, I might be to blame for this." I looked at him for a while, waiting for his reaction but his serious face didn't change.

"A lot has happened since your appearance, but tell me why you think this is so."

"Well... as you might have guessed, I'm not from here" I said, pointing all over the place, and then opening my arms wide as if I wanted to take it all in "Literally not from this universe, Where I come from there's a pandemic, and to my bad luck I brought it, or so I think"

Kaidan now looked at me intrigued "A pandemic takes time, there were no vaccines?"

I nodded firmly "There are, I have 3 doses, but I still brought it" I looked shallowly at the door to the Medical Bay "I want to go in, it won't affect me since I'm not affected now by the disease" Just as I finished speaking, footsteps approached where we were, it was just the commander. The first thing he did was to look at the door of the Medical Bay worried.

"We... we have already plotted the course to Artemis Tau to find Doctor Liara T'Soni" He said, trying to distract his mind from what was going on inside. "And so you will tell us everything you know, no lies."

I was feeling nervous at the moment, I hadn't sorted the words in my head to give a good explanation for the events, but I should since most seem to be very suspicious of me for knowing things, like their names, what was going to happen, my magic.

"No lies, I got it... I... ummm..." I looked at the door again, I felt so guilty and I didn't want to wait to finish finding Liara to just help.

I told the commander about the pandemic in my universe, how I still believe it continues and if I could have brought it by mistake.

"Do you think you can help her?" the commander said. He understood my explanation to some extent, but he wasn't sure if I was going to save her, nor was I...

"I don't know, but if I understand the disease, maybe a little, I weaken it and the human body will do the rest."

Kaidan sighed, he didn't like the idea of risking me for a maybe either. "Magic, right?"

"I did it with Tali, the gun wound I made it disappear, I was able to heal it" I walked hurriedly to the door of the Medical Bay and stood next to that "I need to try, I'm not immne but I have 3 doses of the vaccine, it won't affect me."

I sounded almost desperate, like wanting to reverse everything to make things right, and find the point where got sick.

The commander thought about it, his answer was clearly going to be no, but something in him made him hesitate. He was convinced by Joker who

communicated with us at that moment.
"Commander, you must give the boy a chance, and I'm not saying it because I want to see more of that magic he has."

"I'm sure that's why" said Kaidan, with a tiny but amused smile.

Joker laughed in front of the communicator "Yeah, it's partly that, but from the information I got from him, I mean... nothing, a Shampoo has more letters in his instructions. I can tell the kid has nothing to lose, and as you can see in the movies, there's no one more dangerous than someone who has nothing to lose."

"U-ummm partly yes, but there's my life I'm willing to risk."

Shepard stood on the other side of the door, leaning against it, it seems he had made up his mind "Are you sure about doing this, even you don't know if it'll work"

"It's either that or be left without a doctor, besides Chakwas is nice."

Shepard looked at the door as if he wanted to see what was going on inside, until he sent a message to Jeff "Joker, open the door to the Medical Room".

"Understood Commander"

Shepard took a few steps back, being accompanied by Kaidan to see that everything was going to turn out as well as possible.

The port in front of me opened, and the first thing I encountered was a blue barrier blocking my way "Ah... What about this?"

"It prevents any particles from getting in or out, take this."

As I turned around, I saw a helmet traveling towards me, I quickly grabbed it before it hit me, it was a very old helmet belonging to N7

"I don't like this, but my saying so won't change your mind, will it?" Kaidan said, smiling in a calm manner.

"Of course not" I said as I put on the helmet "But I appreciate the concern. I'm ready."

As the commander typed instructions to Joker, he spoke "We won't be able to get in to get you out if you're late, so please do everything you can for her."

The kinetic barrier disappeared, and the instant it did I leapt into the Medical Room, causing Shepard to activate it again

"Don't look for Liara without me" I smiled towards the commander and Kaidan, giving a thumbs up.

The medical room looked tidy, nothing out of place or anything scary like meaningless scribbles on the papers on the desk, this was not a horror movie. What was there was a blood sample in a microscope and some books, not about medicine, they were works about adventure and magic... Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, those classics.

I took a quick look at the books, they looked new, well cared for as if Dr. Chakwas had had them for years, but it was so out of place with the environment that it worried me. Not too much since they were probably meant to pass the time reading.

The doctor wasn't there, so she had to be in the lab, locked up. I knocked on the door a couple of times but nobody answered, the light was red, closed, maybe she was already... no, it was impossible but the probability still existed.

I communicated with Joker from the Medical Room "Hello, Joker, we haven't talked much but I wanted to ask you a favor".

"I got it, I've seen what you're trying to do, give me a second."

The red light turned green as soon as Joker finished the sentence, leaving me a clear path as I entered.

The inside of the lab looked the same in the darkness that enveloped it, tidy, nothing out of place, except for one person in the chair, leaning over papers and Datapads that from my position I couldn't read what they contained. Slowly that person inhaled and exhaled, giving me a great shock of relief, just sleeping.

"Doctor, how are you?" I asked, approaching slowly so as not to excite her "I don't know if you have found out who I am."

The doctor began to stir with a big yawn, stretching after what was a long nap.
"Have you heard me?" I continued, watching the doctor turn halfway back to me.

"I'm sorry, I've been more asleep than usual," she said, rising slightly from the darkness of the lab.

Her voice sounded muffled, as if at any moment it was going to drop, and looking at me with heavy eyelids, she continued. "You're Mijael aren't you, the young man they label as magical?"

"I suppose you've heard all about it?"

"No no, the mission report is only read by, in this case, The Alliance, but word travels fast, and with Joker as a friend, much more so" he said. We both laughed a little at the last sentence.

"Yes, he... is an interesting person... But back to the subject, you are sick, aren't you?"

Chakwas was having a hard time breathing, so he was gasping for breath. "It's my fault, I shouldn't have stepped out of my zone and got into this business."

"Get out of your zone? What do you mean?"

She walked slowly to the medical room as she spoke, I followed at her side "I spent a lot of time with soldiers, doing my job, whether it was on one ship or another, seeing wounds and treating them, day to day soldier stories, but what happened there, was unique" She finally reached her desk in the medical room, showing me the 2 books.

"That's why the books..." I was slow to pick up on the most obvious things, like a girl's hints "You mean my arrival... You know miss, it's kind of annoying to hear about that all the time"

"I'm sorry...nothing else has been discussed since your first sighting" She scratched the back of her neck somewhat embarrassed, putting the books aside and inviting me to sit on the gurney.

As I sat down, the light reflected through the helmet visor onto a portion of my face, where Chakwas got a good look at the wounds, bruises and dried red and purple blood all over my clothes. Acting quickly, Chakwas a garroted my arm and injected medigel without asking me first, his love for the job was so great that seeing someone hurt already made him go into automatic doctor mode.

Although I came here to find out if she was sick and take care of her, she beat me to it. I was happy to receive proper treatment because I skipped it to take the tests to Saren. The doctor did not speak during the treatment, she had a serious but tired face due to the illness... I could see how she removed the helmet and passed needle and thread through my face since the blows the killer gave me cut me with the natural plates.

The hardest thing for Chakwas was the nose, it was somewhat broken but as she was an expert, she only gave me the warning to clench my teeth so as not to scream. I closed my mouth as much as I could and clenched my teeth so hard that they grinded, instantly the doctor with her 2 thumbs fixed my nose, but blood dripped a little because it was stuck in my nostrils. Instinctively I turned my head looking up to prevent it from coming out.

"Thank you so much Doc. I've been distracted about my health."

With a damp cloth, she wiped the remnants of dried blood from my face, now she was standing.

"It's my job, and now that we've been given the mission to stop Saren, I'll be seeing you around a lot." She had a beautiful smile, which despite her age, that smile made me blush.

"I-I don't know, on some missions the commander may not take me" I said, avoiding the doctor's gaze "And honestly, I need to stay here to complete what I'm preparing."

Already finished, Chakwas looked at me with curiosity, not understanding the last thing I said, "I hope that what you are preparing is something good."

"It is, but it won't be easy... Can you call Joker?"

"He's always listening" I replied with a warm smile "Just give him a call".

"I'm here, what do you need?"

"Yes, it was obvious..." I whispered, and then spoke to Joker "Are we there yet? It's been a while since the commander plotted the route."

"Right now they're disembarking in Therum, he's taken Wrex and Tali."

"I need to get ready, if Tali gets hurt it will be very hard work" Chakwas stood up, starting to put everything in order on his desk.

"You have forgotten one detail, you are sick..." I said, putting my hand on her shoulder before she finished.

She clutched her forehead, as if she was with a huge headache, realizing her mistake "God, it's true... Right now I'm afraid of infecting the others."

I looked at the blood sample that was still on the desk, next to the books stacked in a corner, at that moment I realized that she was analyzing my blood looking for what made me magical, thus infecting herself.

But was that possible? In this universe life expectancy was higher than normal, adding enhancements and surely stronger vaccines from birth, for her to be contagious, the Covid must have been boosted with something?

"Doctor, may I have a moment" I said, pointing to the microscope as I approached it.

"Sure, there's something I was going to show you."

As I looked through the mircroscope, I saw blood, I almost burst out laughing. It appeared to be a slice of chorizo if it weren't for the fact that there was more than just the red and white color.

Straining my eyes I could notice a weird blue, very faint but I knew it was there, the first thing that came to my mind was 'Mana'.

"I-I... mmm... is there any way to get a closer look?"

"You noticed, right? Look closely" She adjusted the lens of the microscope, allowing me to get a better look at that faint blue.

It was a war in my blood, the 'Mana' thing wanting to forcefully combine with my blood, and it was getting there but very slowly, so slowly that I was sure in a drop it would take days for it to be combined.

"You are unstable, at least your blood is" Chakwas explained, causing my attention to now turn to her "I am a doctor, not a sorceress but I can tell that this... magic... is wanting to join you permanently."

"That's what I wish" I said resolute and with confidence in my voice "I want to use magic."

Chakwas shook his head "That process slows down drastically when you use 'magic' and causes your blood to become unstable, making whatever ailment you suffer from, to put it more understandably, explode"

"It can never be a good thing... What the fuck" I sighed, grabbing the sample of my blood "But it's impossible for me to make others sick if blood stays with me."

"I made a log, every time you used magic, the blood sample became unstable."

This set off alarm bells in my brain, and without thinking twice, with my finger I grabbed the blood and drank it "Augh... I think this is the only solution."

Chakwas passed me the cloth with which he cleaned my wounds, she looked surprised by what I did "You should burn this".

I looked all over the medical room and lab for vials of blood, reading who it belonged to and drinking it if it was mine. The doctor didn't stop me, but I could see her face of disgust every time I drank blood, sometimes I made a face of enjoying it just to annoy her a little.

At the end of the search, the only thing left was the blood soaked rag on the palm of my hand. "Okay... here I go" I heated my hands slowly, until I formed a flame strong enough to burn the rag to ashes. She fainted a little from the use of my magic... good thing I only used it for a few seconds.

Now it was just Chakwas and I, surrounding the ashes, we were sure that there was no more danger, only as long as I didn't spill my blood in battle.
"Magic to destroy magic... If we had set it on fire the normal way, this would still go on."

Chakwas with a bag, grabbed my hand and poured the ashes into the bag "I don't know much about you, and I'm sure you don't either. Be more careful and don't take unnecessary risks, please."

"I guess I'll have to do it one last time for now." Without hesitation, I grabbed Chakwas' hand and shoulder as well, concentrating hard enough. "My magic makes my illness more aggressive, but I think I'm capable of curing it, or do most of the work and let modern medicine take over."

She nodded with some trepidation, she trusted me, but my inexperience with magic told her something was going to go wrong, or right but wrong. But still, she didn't step back, she didn't blink, she didn't tell me "Another day". Her medic skills were needed, she needed to heal.
I closed my eyes, concentrating on the power I had been granted, searching for it within Chakwas, feeling it begin to explode not literally.

At that moment the symptoms were getting stronger, Chakwas began to faint, sweating a lot and trying to hug herself because of the muscle pain. She almost fell backwards because of everything, but I managed to hold her, although with difficulty, it was a lady of about 50 years old being held by a boy of 19, something difficult... but I could hold myself with the help of my knee.
Her agitated breathing sounded almost close to my face, her face was already soaked, and because of the pain and sleep she was starting to fall asleep.

And at last I found it, I felt magic inside her, but it didn't try to join her blood, it acted as a replacement for the covid, being more violent if I used magic like now.

I subtracted everything slowly, drawing it into my hands, into my body to absorb it. I could see it, it was as if I was a magnet, using magic to attract magic, somehow I was aware that only I was its owner.

The process felt eternal even though it had been two minutes, watching as a thread of blue trail ended its journey from Chakwas' body to my hand.

When it was all over, my legs gave way, falling to my knees with a Chakwas passed out from the pain, I wasn't sure if she was completely healed, I needed to know what she was feeling, some symptom or something else. I could only move slowly to the nearest stretcher, the one near the laboratory door.

It was impossible for me to lift her, she was so heavy... I wasn't calling her fat, just my strength wasn't at its best.

I tried every way I could think of, until I had the idea of using telekinesis, that would test 2 things: If Chakwas was still sick, her body would react and how strong was my ability to move objects.

With her in my arms like a baby, I slowly pulled her up, concentrating on also pulling her up with my mind. It was only with my strength at first, but second by second, she was getting lighter, until I got to the point where I threw her onto the stretcher, she fell face first onto the mattress, but she was fine.

I was relieved that it was all over, for now I could only wait for the commander's mission to end. Most likely Joker is flying near Therum.

I had time until she was rescued, it had been a while, so I set in motion the first point of my Salvation Plan, to free Benezia from indoctrination.

The idea was simple, fight fire with fire, in this case it would be fighting mind control with mind control, but in practice it would be hell. It was literally a kid with newly acquired magic vs. brainwashing perfected over millions of years, it will go wrong, of course.

I was terrified inside, this would be a battle in the field where the Reapers are experts, I would be dancing in the palm of their hands, or tentacles, all the time, but being here and doing nothing was not an option, there was a reason I wanted to come, and it was to return the happiness to those who gave me good moments when I played the game.
I took a deep breath, sitting on the stretcher where Chakwas was, that was my point of no return, the practice that would lead me to success. I placed my hand on the doctor's sleeping head, but not before talking to Joker.

"I guess you're watching what I do, right?"

"I wouldn't miss this for the world" he replied excitedly.

I smiled slightly, his attitude was infectious even in this moment of desperation of mine. "Sure, but don't neglect the commander, where are they now?"

"They are in the Mako, passing a tunnel, but in the distance it doesn't look good, in a moment they will have to go on foot."

"So it's that time" I whispered, looking up at the ceiling "Please Joker, if they arrive and I'm still not finished, don't let them interrupt me."

"Whatever you say, but what will you do?"

"Go into Chakwas"

"Fine, I'll call the police"

I stood up almost shouting "WHAT?! No, that's not what I meant. I want to get into his mind! With magic...! Obviously!"

"I'm new at this, you're a mystery" he said this last with an exotic tone, almost imitating a ghost.

I sat down again, somewhat calmer, returning to the previous position, and sighed "Come on, my nerves are at the limit now, I want to start to finish quickly..."

"I leave everything in your hands, and magic, over and out."

The sound of static as Joker disconnected gave me the whistle to start.

I closed my eyes, thinking, imagining my mind wandering through Chakwas' thoughts, I tried and tried, at first it was just my imagination creating strange events that had nothing to do with her life, like when you want to think about something specific and you end up thinking about something else: Chakwas as a Specter, having an affair with Garrus, with Shepard, her being the one sacrificing herself on Virmire, Chakwas with magic... so many fictional scenarios that distracted me. But slowly, in each scenario something kept repeating, petals falling, the smell of something sweet and warm... it was tea.

Suddenly, everything went black, I felt relaxed, lying on the floor, and I was sitting down. I moved a little, I could feel flowers on my face, it wasn't uncomfortable, just strange. I opened my eyes, towards a very beautiful sunset, an eternal sunset that illuminated Chakwas, who was sitting in front of a small circular table, drinking tea.

"It worked?" I was stunned, this felt like a lucid dream, but I saw everything clearly. I knew the purpose for which I had come to this place, or mind.

I stood up instantly, shaking the flowers around me, marveling at the sight of the horizon. It was an infinite field of flowers, infinite in every sense of the word, nothing else was visible for miles.

The only thing that distracted me from everything was Chakwas, who raised her hand and invited me to talk to her.
I walked to her with a hurried step, seeing her better... she had a very warm smile, relaxed, as if she had forgotten everything.

Just when I was face to face with her, only one word came to my mind
"I'm sorry" "Thank you"
The 2 of us spoke at the same time, it was strange for her to thank so I remained silent.

"Thanks to you, I slept better than I had in several years, thank you so much" she said with a smile, inviting me to sit down pointing to the chair across the table from her.

I still didn't know if it had worked completely, what I wanted was to get into Chakwas mind, and technically it was, but in a dream.

"You... remember what we did?" I asked, afraid that I had affected her mind in a bad way.

She nodded slowly, letting herself take in the scenery. "You healed me, that's what matters."

"And now I'm here, I'm sorry for entering your dream without permission..." I said embarrassed.

"On the contrary, it's good to have company, please sit." Again she pointed to the chair, so I obeyed without hesitation.

She took small sips from a cup full of hot tea, sighing each time she did so, relaxing as she watched the sunset.

"Are you here because you practice your magic?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the sun.

"I... yes... I have to do this to help someone."

"But you don't know the consequences yet, and since you're here, I assume it's telepathy."

I nodded repeatedly "I did it before, but not for long. It gave me a terrible headache"

She looked at me with concern, Chakwas wanted to help, so she got up and stood next to me "Tell me what to do" she said with a smile.

"I honestly don't know, my goal is to wake you up, but you don't have to want to wake up, this is your dream."

"I think I'm getting the hang of it." With a wave of her hand, she disappeared the table, and all the tea set on that, leaving only the chairs "And of course this is my dream, I have the power here."

A smile was drawn on my face, so I stood up and put my index finger on the doctor's forehead. "If so, let's begin. Please... wake up."

Nothing happened, right now I was in Chakwas' zone, she had control here, so it would be good practice.

I ran the idea of pinching her, it was a classic in movies, but this was something else. "Wake up, please." Amidst all the silence in the field, the distant sound of glass shattering made itself felt.
I could see how Chakwas had fallen asleep but standing up, still putting up a strong resistance.

I kept doing it with all the mental strength I could muster, listening more closely to that glass shattering. When I realized, the sky was breaking, as well as the ground and the sun.

The feeling of fear invaded me, the cracks could mean that the dream was ending or that I was destroying Chakwas' mind, leaving her in an eternal sleep. I didn't want to go on, but not going on would leave me stuck here because I didn't have my idea of how to get back on my own.

"Please, Miss Chakwas, wake up very well."

It was all or nothing, I grabbed the doctor's head, concentrating all my magic in the palm of my hand, and with force, I slammed her head into nothingness, a nothingness that shattered, causing the whole stage to fall down along with the 2 of us.
Just as I lost my balance, the black of emptiness slowly covered us up to our eyes, as if they were closed...

I felt nothing around me, just lost, there was nowhere to go or what to do until the feeling of closed eyes became more noticeable, forcing me to open them... I had made it.

The first thing I noticed was the ceiling of the medical room, and only when I felt a body next to me I remembered what had happened.

Dr. Chakwas was also awake, sitting up with one hand on her head, looking very dizzy.

"You made it, young Nefi." She tried to smile, looking at me "You managed to wake me up."

"It was...my pleasure, thank you for participating." The pain of was starting to attack me, I felt a sharp pain all over my brain, the objects I saw became blurry. Every thought, even the smallest, broke and caused me more pain. I lay on the stretcher, waiting for the ailments to pass, until Joker's message rang.

"Commander coming up to the storage area, if you want to talk to him, now is the time."

"How...? How long has it been? This is very convenient."

Chakwas finished recovering, getting his things ready for future injuries "Let me see... 40 minutes. If you have to go, run, then we'll talk."

A hug from me caught Chakwas off guard, who after your moment of astonishment, reciprocated the hug.

"Thank you so much for existing, Doc" I said, hiding my face in his clothes. The hug was something I had wanted to give him for a long time.

"Thanks to you for helping me, son. I will attend the meeting, I need to understand more of this situation."

I stepped back looking at her, jerking my thumbs up at her "See you later."

I opened the door as I reached her, running towards the elevator, but it wasn't there, it was better to wait for everyone to come because if or if there will be this meeting, I promised the commander, so it only remained for me to climb the stairs and go to the conference room, waiting for him right there, preparing my magnificent revelation speech full of lies and truths.
