Hey guys! I'm back!

So, not a real chapter. Just a snippet I wrote on the plane on my way back home. As you'll probably be able to tell, I was listening to Electric Light Orchestra.

But don't worry! Next chapter is almost done. I'll post either tomorrow or the day after. I'll see you then!:)

The Doctor was an idiot.

A wonderful idiot. But an idiot nonetheless.

The TARDIS felt even more like home once the Doctor had given both Martha and I a key. We could now go in and out as we pleased. I was only just starting to realize how much I owed the Doctor. For the adventures. For the many times he had saved me. Most recently, for the foolish thing he did back in the spaceship just minutes away from hitting the sun.

And that's why he was an idiot.

He took the sun from me. Invaded my mind with his Time Lord one, and ripped the alien conscious from me. The idiot probably saved my life. But endangered his. I tried to warn him never to do that again. He agreed.

We both knew he was lying.

To compensate, he told me he would take me to a Beatles concert. I told him that thanks, but no thanks. Not until I knew at least some of the lyrics. One of the best parts of the concerts is singing along. I would wait until I'd listened to the songs at least a few times.

He still wasn't happy. So I told him he could take me to another concert instead.

"Electric Light Orchestra?" he asked.

I grinned. "Yeah. My grandmother's human favorite. She showed me all of their songs."

He shrugged. "All right."

Four hours later we climbed back into the TARDIS. My walk seemed lighter, even as my legs ached from jumping so much. A smile so big it threatened to fall off stretched my face. Martha and the Doctor exchanged amazed looks every so often, grinning in my direction.

"And you, and your sweet desire. You took me, higher and higher!"

It was no secret Osiriens had good voices. Most of the better singers throughout the galaxy were Osiriens. No surprise there. After all, we were direct decedents from Sirens.

"It's a livin' thing, it's a terrible thing to lose. It's a given thing, what a terrible thing to lose."

I twirled in place, only stopping at Martha's expression.

"What?" I asked.

She shook her head, smiling. "I think I've never seen you like this."

I blinked. "What do you mean?"

"You've been smiling. Like, a lot. And you skip, and hop, and… twirl. It's not like you usually are."

I bit my lip, running a hand through my hair. "Sorry, I just got exited."

The Doctor stood by the door, his coat still on, hands deep in his pockets. He was looking at me, a smile on his face.

He stepped forward, chuckling. "Don't apologize. Never apologize for that. We're just glad you liked it."

I grinned, "I loved it!"

"And your voice!" Martha said. "You should become a professional or something. Seriously."

I scrunched up my nose. "It's not that good. At least," I continued before Martha could speak up. "At least not compared to other Osiriens. It's average."

"Average! I wonder how a whole choir of you guys would sound like."

It was wonderful. It was one of the few things we all as a species like to do. There were whole festivals dedicated to that. Acres and acres of Osiriens singing to their hearts' content.

A melancholic pang hit me just then, and suddenly, I missed my younger days back home. Running through the festival with my best friend, Kyra, talking about school and boys. The blush that would appear every time her big brother approached us. My grandmother calling us to hand out food and tell us stories about the festivals when she was young.

I blinked, returning to the present. It wouldn't do to suddenly start crying in front of Martha and the Doctor. Not when I couldn't explain.

"I liked the second to last song. The one with the weird word."

"Don't Bring Me Down?" I asked. "And it sounds as if they're saying Bruce?"

She grinned. "Yeah."

"I love that one."

She rolled her eyes. "You like them all."

I smiled. "Yeah. I do. I blame my grandmother. And Jeff Lynne."

"Well, then." The Doctor interrupted. "Off to sleep, you two. Tomorrow, we're going back to the usual."

The usual. I had the urge to laugh. I had no idea whatsoever what the usual was. I only knew it meant running. And probably something dangerous.

I grinned.

I couldn't wait.

"Now, what do you say?" The Doctor pitched in an idea, running his hands over the console. "Ice skating on the mineral lakes of Kur-ha. Fancy it?"

Martha smiling, already heading off to her room. "Whatever you like!" She called back to us.

"Kylie?"

I grinned at him. "Sounds great. And, Doctor?" he paused his fiddling and looked up at me. "Thanks for today. Really. Brought back fond memories with my grandmother."

He smiled. "You're welcome. How come your grandmother liked so much human music?"

I shrugged, wondering if I should tell him she had travelled with a Time Lord. "She travelled a lot."

An eyebrow arched. "All the way to Earth?"

"Had a very… ambitious companion."

His smile was gone. "I see." He sighed, shaking his head. "Someday, Kylie, you'll stop talking in circles around me. You'll finally give me a straight answer."

I blinked, surprised. "Doctor-"

He shook his head. "Don't worry about it." He smiled, though his smile looked worn out. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Doctor." I whispered.

I turned, heading back to my room.

Someday.

Someday I hoped I would.
