My name is Ouma Shu. I have many titles, Adam, Highschool Class President, Genius, Human King, but the one I always prefer is the one currently hanging over my head. "Ouma Shu, Kind Overlord, Level 45." Oh, I should also mention, my life's a game.
Overall, my life's been going pretty good recently, I had a caring protector who wasn't around enough to see my experiments, a good high school to keep me in the unknown, and a plan for the future. Admittingly, most plans for the future do not involve a takeover of the government if their best friends own takeover failed, but neither do most people have to power to be completely immune to every sickness and body disorder just by being exposed to the most deadly virus in the world for a while.
Oh, I also have complete control over any part of the Apocalypse Virus I claim. It's a little costly, but very useful in a world so full of it. I also have another ability that allows something similar, and makes the first much more useful, it's called Convergence it basically allows me to turn parts of my body into a safe Apocalypse Virus. The mastery of that also let me have a similar ability called Agglomeration, which lets me gather nearby Apocalypse Virus Matter.
Currently, I was listening to a song on the internet, and idly comparing how similar she looked to my dead sister, Mana. Mana was... interesting to think about, to say the least. As the Second Eve, and the ordinal holder to the Apocalypse Virus, she was both the perfect human woman, and destruction of mankind. It was weirder, to him at least, that the Second Eve was the sister to the Second Adam, me.
The whole Power of the King, that was given to me as the Second Adam, as the original man, I ruled over all his descendants, mankind. The Power of the Overlord, I'm wasn't quite sure where I got that, but it was related to my Game ability, quite probably as it's cause. At first glance, the two were the same thing, just named different, but a deeper look would show their difference. The Power of the King allowed me to rule over mankind, and show them their true power, the other let me grow my own power, and take control of others.
Still, the main reason I didn't like thinking about Mana, was that it brought out who had killed Mana, me. A simple shot had killed her, and the Apocalypse Virus was freed to the world at large, so, I was the reason so many people were suffering, and I feel led to fix it. I had a few ways to, actually.
Slowly getting down from the building, I walked into my house, and stared at the Void Genome I had on my table. It's still unstable, if I put this into someone they'll be unable to control themselves. I thought.
I spent deep into the night trying to figure out what was wrong with it.
The next day I was standing on the train, going to school. Making light conversation with my friend, and ally, Hare. I could probably run faster, given all the powerful stats and abilities I had, but this was both less tiring, and would help me with my cover. Looking out, idly, I noticed the massive amount of soldiers, including several tanks. "Oh. There's a lot of soldiers out today." Hare looked up at me, "Did you not watch the news?" She asked, as I realized I hadn't watched the news in weeks, "Apparently there was some terrorist attack or something yesterday, in Odaiba" she finished, not bothering to correct herself, or keeping by nationalism in mind of her statement.
When we got to class, I sat in the best seat. One right by the window, allowing me to look out of it when I wanted, near the back of the class, but not enough for me to draw the attention of the teacher, but still far enough to not catch the teacher's notice of the front either. A student's paradise.
I was staring out the window, looking at the beautiful morning, when two more of my friends came up, probably needing to ask me about the faux-job I had taken up for their club.
"Yo." Yahiro greeted, "Are you done with video yet?" he asked. Called it! I waved my left hand nonchalantly, "Almost," I answered, "I was planning on putting the finishing touches on during lunch." Yahiro smiled, "I knew we could count on you! Don't let us down, Prez!" He waved my other friend, Souta, leaned forward. "Hey, can you help me with this problem?" he asked. I laughed.
I was going to eat a light lunch, more for appearance sake than actual need, and finish the video. Any extra time I had would be spent looking into the Virus's nature, trying to figure out how to copy my Power of the King. With that plan decided, I started walking towards 'my' building, an old, a grown up, rugged building. I had fixed up somewhat a few months ago, and had made a fairly nice place out of it, taking significantly shorter of a time than should be humanly possible. It technically wasn't legal to enter, but I didn't really care for such things.
For the video, I needed to do some basic touch-ups, a few modifications here, a few others here, sound increased here, sound down here, cleaner pictures here, ect, ect. I was largely done already, but I still needed to finish all the 'extra' small things, the things that really make a video great.
As I approached the old school building, I smelled something very akin to iron. Blood? Couldn't be. I picked up my pace, just to be sure. As I neared the entrance, however, by suspicions were confirmed. There, simply laying on the ground, were several small splatters of blood. I hope they haven't been bleeding long. That's quite a bit of blood and they my bee unconscious. Still, very faintly, I heard a song much like the one on the video, almost exactly, but not quite the same, like the same person is singing the same song, under different circumstances.
Picking up my pace, but keeping quite as to not startle the person, I gently jogged to the main room, my original destination. Urgh... now there's blood all over it! It takes forever to get the smell of blood out of a room! When I entered the room, I saw the person who was bleeding. Inori Yuzuriha, idol, great singer, and apparently someone who likes to bleed in strange places, not that I'm one to talk.
She was lying there, dressed in a strange red dress, partially undone to clean her wound. It was done rather well, actually, but not even close to how well I could have done it. Slowly, I stepped towards her, careful to keep in mind respectful distances, "Are you okay?" I asked, real concern leaking into my voice.
She turned around suddenly, and practically jumped away, letting some robot jump out from behind her, which launched some rope to try to flip me over.
I should probably mention now that my actual weight is just over one thousand three hundred pounds, and the only reason I can walk without the floor crumbling under me was because of constant usage of my Power of the Overlord to keep me resisting 90% of gravity.
The rope didn't even move me, and my attempt to step towards her to help was taken as an aggressive action.
The girl backed away as fast as she could, running into the desk I had put into the back of the room. The video I had been working on, without what I had done last night, played slowly, the pictures and sounds coming together beautifully, except in the end, where the sound was a little off. Inori didn't seem to be too bothered by it, as she even opened her mouth to compliment the work, "It's pretty." she said. I felt a smirk coming on to my face, "Thank you, but it's still not done. I still need to fix the sounds at the end, and clear up the pictures." I explained, "It's a video of my home town, so I felt I had to do it myself."
I was kept from explaining any further by a growling stomach. I chuckled, "Do you want a rice ball?" I asked.
She dug into the food ravenously, finishing quickly, especially since she was bleeding so much. I was slightly worried that she would fall out or something, but nothing bad happened. To the contrary, she started singing London Bridge is Falling Down like nothing unusual was happening. She seemed to be knitting something in her hands when I walked back up, her dress placed properly this time.
"So," I asked, "what is such a popular vocalist doing bleeding in a run down building?" her song, which was sung with remarkable grace, considering it was a kid's song, stopped. "We have to get this to Gai." she answered emotionlessly. Turning around, she held up some sort of string. "Take this...er" Feeling her fumble for my name, I stated mine, "Shu, Ouma Shu." she nodded, and held out the string with new vigor, "Take this Shu. You might be able to do it if you try, but you'll never be able to do it if you don't." she explained. Staring at the strange string, I felt old memories, ones from Lost Christmas, resurface.
"Shu Ouma, are you a coward?" Inori asked.
I reached out my hand, trying to see her point, when the door to the building was kicked in. Soldiers rushed into the room, and Inori jumped down to meet them, calling for her robot to come as well. I, confused as to what was happening, stood by, leaning on the rail in case I needed to interfere, and watched. By doing this, I also noticed that her robot, Funell, apparently had a broken leg, so it couldn't come down to help.
Inori, now freed from the cage our platform made, tried to run away from the officers, only to be roughly held down and hit with the but of one of the soldier's gun. Somehow, perhaps because of her loss of blood, she collapsed immediately. Their leader, a black man with orange sunglasses called up to me.
"Are you a student?" he asked, or, rather, commanded in a question-like way. I nodded slowly, "Yes, might I ask why you are here?" I asked. The man frowned at me, "This woman is a criminal. If you attempt to shield her, we'll purge you too, as her accomplice." the man warned, two soldiers behind him aiming their guns at me. I smirked, "Very well, what crime did she commit?" I asked. The man narrowed his eyes, apparently attempting to kill me with the hatred in his eyes. "She is a terrorist in Funeral Parlor." he stated. Behind him, I could see the two soldiers squeezing the trigger on their guns slightly.
I sighed, and, instead of backing down, jumped over the rails in one smooth motion, reaching the ground in an impossibly fast amount of time, landing gracefully because of my gravity defying skills. "The way I see it, you can take a fool's caution, and make the right move, or you can attack me, the logical choice, and make the wrong one." I explained, "But the choice is entirely up to you."
Not even bothering to look, the caption turned away and signaled the soldiers to open fire. With more speed than any human had right to have, I dodged the first five, and raised my hands, letting one catch my right leg on purpose, and captured the caption and his soldiers in Apocalypse Virus Matter, the type from my own body, that didn't spread unless I wanted it to.
"Poor choice, caption. Now, I'm afraid I will have to punish you. Choose, your life, or your lifespan?" I asked. Afraid, many of the captured soldiers answered immediately, "Please, don't kill me!" they begged, "We were just following order!" Understanding, I with called most of the virus back, discreetly setting a small part of it into their bloodstream, to reach their heart. "Finally, Caption, your choice?" I asked. The caption growled, "Take my lifespan, whatever that means." I smiled widely.
"Good choice." I praised. Putting my left hand on his forehead, I pushed a small portion of my Apocalypse Virus into his body. "You will serve me the rest of your life, even if you don't know it, and shall feed me information. If you try to get this removed, I'll kill you. If you try to try to disobey my orders, I'll kill you. If you do something I disapprove of? I might warn you, but I'll probably kill you." I explained. The caption turned paler and paler as my list went on, "This goes for all of you." I finished, "who excepted my contract."
The soldiers were shocked, even afraid. "You will be my eyes and ears in the government, so don't get killed, and don't disobey me." I commanded. I turned towards Inori, "Go, before she wakes up." I commanded, fully aware of what was about to happen. One eye on my health bar though, told me that I had already regained the amount of health I had lost.
One soldier, who had only moments ago begged not to be killed, pulled his trigger and opened fire on me. Spreading out a shield around Inori, I turned and walked towards the man, watching my health bar go down. It took about ten per bullet, so my ten thousand health would take a lot more bullets than he had on him. I walked slowly, timing out each step so that when he ran out, I would be within grabbing distance. It took almost one hundred bullets for his clip to run out, and I think he was pissing himself.
"I- I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" he begged. Sadly, I knew I couldn't excuse him. I grabbed him roughly and pulled his head towards my mouth. "I'm sorry." I whispered, before growing the Apocalypse Virus in his heart rapidly, causing him to be consumed in seconds, and absorbing the remains. That included his Void, his part of Mana.
The other soldiers stared, shocked by the display. "Go." I commanded them, "Tell your superiors that you lost contact suddenly." The soldiers nodded, before running away as fast as they could, hoping to put some distance between us. It wouldn't matter.
Turning back to Inori, and absorbing the shield I put over her I voiced my thoughts out loud. "Now what am I going to do with you?" For once, my question was answered when her little machine on the second floor pulled up a map and shined it down at the two of us.
Ouma Shu, Level 45
Health: 9854/10000
Mana: 100000/15000
I wound up coping the map to my tablet, and sticking the robot Inori's arms, while I carried her. Sadly, do to everything that happened recently, and the general assumption if people saw me carrying an unconscious girl down the street, and the simple ease in which I could, I had to get there largely from the sewers. It was a fairly quite trip, Inori woke up about half the way there, and decided to walk on her own. She had requested some information about what happened, but other than where they were going, she hadn't asked much.
Inori had adopted to hold Funell on the way there, occasionally checking to make sure we were on the right path, but not doing much.
When we got to the surface, I couldn't help but display my disgust. "It had to be here, of course." I complained bitterly. I tried to not complain too much, but I'm not sure I got the look of disgust off my face.
When we reached to spot to machine was pointing to, I had to look around to where the entrance was. My search was halted, however, by some large, muscular man. "That thing cook?" he asked me, leaning far into my personal space. "Hm?" The man asked again, "That thing cook rice?" he asked. I looked at Inori, who shook her head no, "No, apparently." The man stared at me. "Leave it." he ordered.
I stared at the man. "I can't do th-" I started, before being rudely interrupted by a failed attempt at punching my face, which was caught in my hand. "I can't do that." I explained, tightening my grip on his hand. "Let go!" he yelled, trying to pull his hand out of my grip. That's not going to work, my arm weighs more than you can lift, so I'm obviously stronger. His allies, a group of two fellow thugs.
Suddenly, lights turned on from the windows, one by one in order, and a blond man walked into my sight. "Good evening, my deceased fellows." he greeted kindly. I felt myself chuckle at the joke. "I'll handle this." I waved him off." The thugs looked at me, "You don't take us so lightly!" he yelled, before he saw it.
The crystals, ever so beautiful, began climbing up his arm, unknown to his fellows. "Hey! Help!" he shouted desperately, his allies obliged. I felt two vaguely fist shapes collide with my head and ribs, and stick there, held by the virus. I injected a small portion of it into each of their blood streams, and make it spike slightly, and let them go. "Ahh!" they yelled, as their insides were cut by their own heart rate.
Then, I stopped it. "Leave, if you don't wish to die." I ordered. Sadly, I hadn't shown them any true displays of power, so I would give them two chances. The three of them ran away, hopefully to never do such terrible things again. Maybe if they did, I would give them increasingly bad heart trouble, and spread the virus until it was noticeable. "Turn away from your walks of life, and live a good one!" I shouted at them, making the words echo in their ears. That should be enough.
I turned toward the young man, hardly older than me, "'Gai', Gai, Health: 300, Mana: 100." That three hundred health was fantastic, considering most people only had fifty, and the soldiers usually only had about one hundred, and most people didn't even have mana, much less a full hundred. "Your Gai, I take it." I greeted, showing my pride. He looks familiar. Idly, I wondered where I had seen him before, something about my childhood? I wondered. As he approached, I looked at him closer, matching faces and voices, a little squeakier, and shorter, a different hair style, or course, maybe five, ten years younger. When he stared at me, he immediately recognized me, something not many people I don't know would be able to do. Triton? I wondered.
Suddenly, everything matched, this was Triton, my best friend and adopted brother! Triton's alive! "Your Ouma Shu?" he asked, probably surprised slightly by my strength. I smiled widely, an honest smile on my face, "And you are Triton, my brother." I laughed. His face was priceless, the man I wanted to give The Power of The King to was here, standing in front of me.
Suddenly, a small girl was standing in front of me, "That's Funell! Give it back!" she commanded, yanking the machine out of my hands, before storming off.
I turned to see Triton talking to Inori, "I'm glad you're okay, Inori." he admitted, though in a monotone voice and giving a overall lukewarm welcome. Still, this was Triton, so he must have needed to for some reason. He then turned to me, "Shu, we need to talk." he stated, leaving no form of question or doubt. I nodded, silently agreeing.
The group reset, turning off the lights and getting out of their positions in practiced order, until there was just us three, Trition, a Mana look-alike, and I. I almost reminded me of old times, except for the secrets and eventual downfall. Slowly, everyone pulled back inside, and left us, the cause of everything, alone. It was almost laughable, how close that was, and how very far away it was to the truth.
Turning around, Triton led us down some sort of secret passageway, one which looked to have been made specifically to not be suspected of holding human life. "So, Triton, how did you meet Inori?" I asked, trying to catch up on my old friend. He must have noticed it, because he actually answered the question, somewhat. "I'll answer you when we get to somewhere where no one can hear us." he answered.
I nodded, even though I knew he couldn't see it. "Oh and Triton," I realized, "I would like to join Funeral Parlor."
The talk was nice, we told each other what we had been doing for the last few years, some plans, and, what we were about to do. He told me how he met Inori, and who she was, and what her mission was. To get the Void Genome. The same thing I've been working on for the last three years, was already made by the government, apparently stabilized. I couldn't keep my interest down about the subject, and felt the need to congratulate him on their accomplishments.
It was odd though, apparently, he didn't remember I had The Power of The King, and it came as quite a shock when I removed his void, easily in a class with mine and Inori's, though I was still surprised about Inori's.
Finally, he told me that Inori's connection with Mana, and as her brother, no, as the Kind Overlord of humanity, I had to help.
The next day, I had convinced him to test me, and was standing in a large arena, where I would face my opponent. Laughably, it seemed like a single Endlave. When it was revealed to me, I had to laugh.
"Gai, a single Endlave, no matter how well piloted, cannot hope to stop me." I finally got out, still chuckling. I knew, of course, that if I was to get in an Endlave, that it would simply increase my base stats, at the cost of disabling my body, and taking away my supply of Apocalypse Virus Matter. Still, the Endlave had less than half my strength, and, while the Dexterity was good, it wasn't even close to my own. Of course, she also didn't have any supernatural powers inside the Endlave.
Triton, though I had to call him Gai out loud, shook his head, "This is the strongest thing we have to stop you, besides myself, please don't break the Endlave." he... ordered? I guess. He is technically my superior. I nodded, and turned towards the Endlave, "I do not expect you to win, but I must congratulate you on getting such praise from 'Gai'." I smiled.
Triton sighed. "Begin!" The Endlave, piloted expertly, jumped at me, bringing a nonlethal, but very powerful blow to my chest. I raised my hand, and braced myself. The Machine stopped. "Why don't I show you more of my power in action? Hm?" Slowly, I pushed the Apocalypse Virus out of my hand and feet, making it completely cover the machine, then, when it was out, I increased the pace drastically, covering the entire machine in less than three seconds. Then, I walked, slowly, to the area I was suppose to go to, and withdrew the virus.
"You did great, miss, but I feel I must tell you that an Endlave is so much weaker than what you fought for yesterday. And with that item's power, your own power can be increased tenfold." I explained. Personally, I don't think she understood. I weigh almost one thousand three hundred pounds, I should probably use my weight.
It had been quite some time since then, and now, the entire city was quarantined. I had gathered everyone in the city to try to break out, absorbing their Apocalypse Virus, bringing out their power, and giving them more. Each person was stronger than an Endlave, and, of course, holding their Void. It had been hard keeping them from death. Hare's Void had broke, and it took almost a hundred pounds of Apocalypse Virus to fix it, but I had managed. Then, after a long time of preparation, we launched an assault, and broke through the wall.
There, the students had coup d'état. Students surrounded me, led by my vice president. I snarled, "Tell me, why have you betrayed me?" I asked. The students shook, "You can't lead us! You don't understand!" they yelled. I know. I growled, "And why did you attack me?" I asked. The students, my people, readied their weapons, I grimaced, "Tell me, do you wish to see your Overlord angry!" I shouted, making the Virus rapidly spread through their body, "I'll kill you, and make your matter the basses for my Empire!" I shouted, consuming their flesh through myself. I now had almost one thousand, four hundred pounds, I had never had that much before, even before I started giving it away.
Finally, it would end, my sister, Mana, the cause of everything stood before me. "Accept me, Shu, live with me forever!" she told me. I stood there, not doing anything. "Mana," I said, "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do this." I said. Her smile dropped, "Do you still deny me?" she asked, her voice cracking. No, I can't let you live, but I can't kill you. I grabbed her shoulders, gently, "No, I can't let you wipe out humanity, but I can't stop you. I can't hurt you." I admitted.
Mana smiled, "Then what must I do, Shu?" she asked. I thought, "I need you, I want you, to have a body, but it can't be that one." I explained, stopping her from yelling, "That body is still Inori's, and taking it from her. I can create a temporary body for you, but I can't have you stealing one. It shouldn't be hard, as either cloning or simply making one from my own would work. I also need to stop the Apocalypse, and by that I wish to gather all the virus into my body. I also need to keep most, if not all of humanity alive, I need subjects, and I want to keep my friends alive." I explained.
Mana whimpered, "What do I have to do to allow that?" she wined. I smiled softly, "Let me do something," I asked, taking her hand and making a small needle, slowly, I stuck it into her arm, withdrawing a small portion of blood. I took a sample of it, fed it matter, and grew it into a perfect replica. Slowly, the body grew, making new arms, legs, even hair. "Shu Ouma, Level 45, Health 1000/13000" That used up almost all my remaining HP!
Mana's eyes widened, as I took her being, and put it into a replica body, letting both my Mistress, and my sister live. "Now, I need to absorb the rest of the virus." I explained, leaving my naked sister and scantly clad lover behind. "I'll take all this world's problems, and rule it with an iron fist!" I proclaimed.
The virus, and all it's power, it hit me suddenly, trying to burst out and destroy the world. I can see why it drove Mana so far. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" someone screamed.
"You haven't won yet, you haven't won yet! Neither of us have won!" screamed the scientist, obsessed with his dead friend, injecting the virus into himself to keep it inn the world, or at least kill him. "I have won." a voice echoed inside of him. The Overlord of humanity had lost his patients with him. Even as he felt the virus spike, killing him, and tearing itself out of his body, he could only think one thing. You've won, Ouma.
It's been five years since that incident, and the worlds been doing fine. The Apocalypse Virus, now nonlethal, was used in many forms, supplied and controlled by the Overlord, Ouma Shu, and his family. Ouma Shu, along with his two lovers, his sister, and his best friend,Triton The King, ruled the world with a fair, iron fist. Everyone got more than they needed, but the world lived in slight fear, constantly being controlled by the true Overlord, Ouma Shu.
Today was one of the worlds biggest holidays, as today was Hare, the second lover of Ouma Shu,'s birthday. The entire world got the day off, to spend with family and friends together in a massive celebration. Though many people who wished to work still did.
Ouma Shu smiled, "How has the day been?" he asked his mistress. Hare blushed, "Wonderful, my king, Kind Overlord."
