Louise prayed with all of her might, unknowingly using her emotions as her catalyst instead of her words. There was a reason people tended to us words, however, as Louise would soon find out.

Please something powerful she begged, please anything something anywhere! My familiar, my destined familiar! Come to me! I'll accept anything! she cast. "-and appear!" she ordered.

Her spell reached across existence, searching for something that matched, something that accepted, something powerful, and yet anything, for a familiar, one to take back. She had doomed herself to the spells choice, so it took specific care with her request.

It tried several possible choices, a boy from the world with a similar wavelength, and while and thought, a powerful necromancer, though he turned down the offer, it traveled across hundreds, then thousands of worlds before it suddenly landed in a strange, new world.

Every person, human or otherwise, that would cause mass destruction was sent here, held by a strange force. This force held people to a constant code of enjoyment, where one would always enjoy their stay, even if they did not know why, for this, it made all of life a game. The force had been torn, however, by a powerful Overlord and a heroic Hero King, and their friends. The two split the power holding the world down after only six months of adventuring, having gained countless levels over their journey.

In this world, it found five things that would fit Louise's spell, the Overlord, for his darkness was Void, the Hero King, for his desire to save, The Shadow, for the wish to be known, the throne of the dead, of which surly one would accept, and the entire race of Summoning Orbs. It put requests into all five, outlining the conditions and precautions. The Overlord read through before anything else, and smiled, giving the others a chance to answer. The Hero King was helping his subjects with their magic practice, and did not look. The Shadow was simply too slow. The Summoning Orbs, those strong enough to see, read through the list slowly, while the ones not strong enough simply floated towards it's invitation as fast as possible.

The one that won was not the best, it had only won because it had been knocked out of the way by it's summoner, and it had only lasted that long because of the new-found magic to absorb. It accepted, however, and that was all that was needed.

...POV Change...

Louise stared at her familiar, summoned by an age old spell that had come tradition to perform. She only had one thought about it It's an orb. It was a simple, palm-sized pure white orb floating above the ground. She could hear her classmates laughing, and already knew why. "Professor!" she tried desperately, "May I try again, this isn't even an animal!" Her professor, though wise and intelligent, made no exceptions, however, "No. To try again would be blasphemous against the ritual itself." he explained.

Lousie sighed, before leaning over to the orb, "Pentagon of the Five Elemental Powers, grant your blessings upon this creature and bind it as my familiar." she whispered, before planting her lips on the orb briefly and backing up. The white orb changed, as several lines of complex runes were carved into it's surface. It's pure white surface dimmed slightly, before glowing briefly.

A second later, a pure white rat popped out, much like the one Old Osmond had. Louise knew it was a weak familiar, but she couldn't help but marvel at it's cuteness, before noticing a tiny rune on it's right paw.

...Time Skip...

When Louise went to bed that night, she had cuddled up with the small mouse, which as curled on one of her pillows. She didn't think there was even a remote possibility that her thrashing would squash the small mouse.

Luckily it hadn't, unluckily, that was because it wasn't there in the morning. Instead, a much larger, more rabid mouse was there, one that was easily ten times the size of a normal mouse, and with brown fur and rabid red eyes. It followed her around just as well as any other familiar, though, and it seemed fine. She ordered it to do what any other familiar would do, and spent the day getting to know what she had summoned.

She was very surprised, when her giant rat disappeared around lunch. While she frantically searched, she was even more surprised to find a small brown dog with runes on it's right paw was watching her.

...Time Skip...

Louise chanted her strongest spell, trying to throw her old teacher off of her golem. Her familiar, the orb, had summoned multiple creatures by now, and she currently had a wolf with one eye. The wolf charged at the golem, climbing up the thing with a series of leaps and bounds. Her old teacher, the hopefully now-fired secretary, cast magic to stop the wolf, but she couldn't catch it, much less keep it down. Sighing, she did a quick spell, and used the rock underneath it to stab it.

It took a larger cut than expected, as it seemed to recoil at the touch of the weapon. The earth spear got stuck in it's wound and held it there for several seconds, before finally cutting itself out and falling to the ground, where it lay for several seconds.

Louise ran towards it, unable to save it from it's surely grizzly fate. When she came to it, she saw that it had a large portion of it's leg torn out, blood was gushing everywhere. It had tried to get up, but had limped slightly. It had such a gaping injury it was sure to never walk again. She could feel it's pain, however, and it's life fading away.

She huddled over the wolf, feeling the beginnings of tears run down her face. Her old teacher waddled off, escaping from sight. Kirche stayed behind with Louise, even as Tabitha went to fight the threat alone.

The One-eyed Wolf licked Louise's face lightly, before beginning to glow. Louise stared through crying eyes at her familiar. It glowed, before suddenly disappearing. "What!" Louise screamed, the pain of her familiar gone, replaced by a messy, happy-go-lucky fire. She felt as the wolf, this one a normal wolf, but with magic, began happily running towards her.

"What?"

...Time Skip...

Louise rode to her family, pushing her temporary familiar to it's limits as the two soared across the sky. His black scales glistening in the sun, he was by far her most fun familiar. His flight surpassed that of Tabitha's dragon, and his fiery breath was hotter than any fire-mage's familiar. Even Kirche's Flame was no match for her Black Dragon's breath.

So, when Louise was trying to convince her parents to let her go to war, she flew as fast as she could home, going easily three or four times faster than any horse could. Still, that was easily, she pushed her familiar, going almost twice it's normal speed. So, a trip that was suppose to take three days was done in eight hours.

The wind rushed past her face as her familiar dived over two hundred feet to her estate, going so fast that Louise could hardly hold on, even with her legs wrapped around the dragon's neck, and both hands grabbing his handle-like spikes. It was a wondrous feeling, like she was on top of the world, undefeatable. She could feel her senses on overload, her legs were slightly sore now, after six hours of extremely fast flying, but she could feel everything, even the small, almost unnoticeable pitch black orb in her bag.

When she landed, she saw the servants rushing to greet her, probably as a noble instead recognizing her. They moved surprisingly fast, silent alarms were raised, signals she had never noticed before were given, and each servant ran as fast as their legs would carry them. They couldn't beat a black dragon, however.

As she landed, he was greeted by the head of the staff, instead of everyone, and word was immediately sent to her family, who came out after about a minute. Her oldest sister, Éléonore, stared at her with a harsh glare, though love was in her eyes. Her middle older sister, Cattleya apparently snuck out of bed to come see her, a soft smile on her face. Her mother also came, father in tow, and stared at the majestic Black Dragon she had ridden.

Though, Cattleya was wondering whether it would play nice with her pets.

As she landed though, the Black Dragon started glowing. "Ohh! It's summoning!" Louise shouted excitedly. "What's happening little Louise?" Éléonore asked. Louise ignored the nickname in favor of staring at where her new familiar would be. "The dragon was just a Temporary Familiar summoned by my actual familiar, and it's about to exchange it for another one!" Louise explained excitedly.

The young Black Dragon glowed slightly, before disappearing in a cloud of smoke, which covered the new Temporary Familiar. That let Louise know that she had summoned something smaller, which was perfectly okay. Looking over her shoulder, Louise gave a commanding stare to her mother, who then cleared away the smoke with a wordless wind spell, while wondering when her Little Louise had gotten so bossy.

As the smoke was brushed away, Louise stared at her new familiar. He was wearing a white noble's outfit, which had some sort of white metal sewn into the cloth. He had bright pink hair, similar to her own. He wore a long sword on his right side, gilded with gold on both the sheath and hilt. He had a large leather-bound book dangling from the right side of his him, and a wand strapped firmly to his left. He had a kind, but confused smile on his face, and was... definitely human.

Seeing the family of five, he jogged up to them, "Hello, please pardon me, but have you seen a pitch black..." he looked around, "palm sized orb covered in runes and floating, about three feet off the ground." he asked. Louise nodded, "Yes, that's my familiar." The pink haired man smiled widely, "Good, I am the Duke of Light, your temporary familiar." he smiled, "But you may call me Catt. It's amazing you were able to get a Summoning Orb as a familiar though."

Louise blushed, "It's not that amazing." she tried to wave off, not used to getting complements. The man shook his head, "No, it really is. Because it's boud to you by the familiar contract it can grow off your mana, meaning it can summon things just as powerful as you when it balances out." he explained. Louise blushed furiously, before realizing, "Wait! Do you know what this thing is?" she asked him. The man nodded, "Yeah... It's a Summoning Orb, right?" Louise felt her jaws go slack.

The man considered something, "Actually, do you have a sword you wouldn't mind being broken?" he asked. Intrigued, Karin ordered a commoner to bring a simple sword, which Catt took in one hand. Examining it for several seconds, he nodded to himself, before turning around as fast as he could and slicing the orb.

Only to the sword to shatter on impact.

Quickly jumping away, Catt dodged a line-like spell, which hit the wall behind him, which turned to dust upon impact. Catt chuckled before raising both hands in surrender, "I surrender." he smiled, before walking back to Louise. "You've got an extremely powerful Summoning Orb, harder than steel, capable of understanding speech, and knowledge of very powerful spells, not to mention it's actual amazing mana. Do you control it's contracts?" Catt asked.

"Why did you attack my familiar!" Louise shouted. Catt waved for her to calm down, faint beads of sweat dripping off his brow, "It was a test, I already knew it would block the sword swing, and I wanted to know it's capabilities." he explained, before smiling brightly again, "It ranks A in everything." Louise huffed loudly, "What do mean it ranks A?" she asked, annoyance in her voice.

Catt smiled widely, swishing his hand behind him to make a stone bench, which he fell down upon, "It ranks A in every stat, it's summoning an A-class single unit, it's protection spell is Disintegration, a high A-class combat spell, it has a constant mana supply and seems to be growing at a fairly constant level. It also gives a single C-class permanent buff to those under it's protection, which is a rare ability, giving it a A-class ability as well." he explained.

Cattleya's familiar, a simple house cat, hopped up onto the newly made bench, and into Catt's lap. Looking down at the new warmness in his lap, Catt was instantly bewitched by the cat's adorableness.

Calming down slightly, Louise cleared out her thoughts, "So... this thing is a Summoning Orb, right?" she asked. Catt nodded, petting the cat, "Who's adorable! You are yes yow arw!" he whispered under his breath. "So.. do you know how it works?" she tried again. Catt nodded again, still enraptured with the cat, "It's a gathering of pure magic that sometimes is made naturally in my world forms contracts with various things to support it'a needs. You are so adorable! It then summons whatever it contracted with for a set amount of mana." he explained, gently rubbing the cat's stomach, which purred as a response.

Louise ignored the sight, as both her father and mother tried to figure out what was happening. Éléonore, however, was simply intrigued, wishing to know more about a magical artifact she had never heard of before, and Louise's familiar, of course. Cattleya was watching Catt petting her cat, and how her familiar acted even more friendly than usual.

The cat meowed softly, causing Catt to tut lightly, "Your not getting spoiled at all, your far to adorable to not get a reward." he smiled, scratching a small part of the cat's chest. The cat's head snapped around, and meowed again. "Hmm? Oh yes, I can understand you." he nodded, a confused look passing over his face. The cat meowed, and Catt chuckled, "Of course it's normal." he said, rolling his eyes. He looked back up to the stunned family, "Right?"

Louise backed away slightly, as did Éléonore, as Cattleya walked forward. "And what does he say?" she asked, with honest curiosity. Catt looked confused, "What any other animal of lesser than human intelligence .Though this one seems to have been boosted somewhat by magic." he answered confusedly.

"Can you prove it?" she asked. Catt shrugged.. "Would you mind proving I can speak to you?" he asked the cat. The cant meowed, before Catt answered, "He say sure, and that you keep your 'preciouses' in your third draw. He shrugged. Cattleya smiled widely, before rushing off to her room as fast as she could. "All that commotion over some crappy love stories... I tell ya." Catt shrugged.

...Time Skip...

Oh no oh no Ohnoohnoohnohno! Catt whined in his head. He had done some training to keep himself at the level of the orb, in equal parts because he enjoyed this little vacation and for the good of the Light Kingdom. With all the training, Catt could honestly say he was as strong was his brother Louis, when he had left at least. He had been guarding Louise when he had heard a rumble above him. He had gone up to look, and it seemed that the entire place had become taken over by enemy forces.

Hostages, something banned in both the Dark Empire and the Light Kingdom. He knew he would not be fast enough to save everybody, if worse came to worse, and he knew he could not consider the value of lives.

So, he had debated how he could handle this, he couldn't do it by himself, and he didn't have enough time to plan anything elaborate. So, he had to call on someone. He had already spent his next paycheck, and even if he was allowed, he wouldn't dare ask for his money back if there were other, just as reasonable options, which there were. Still, that meant he couldn't hire an army, which would have been preferable. That meant he had to either convince a small army to join him without pay, which would work, but would take too long.

Alternately, he could call in a favor, but he would need someone strong enough to handle this, or at least partially, handle it, that didn't have more important things to do. About half the players would work, but that would call in far too many favors for his paycheck. He would have to call in one person then, the question was who. He eventually decided on his brother, Louis.

Louis was powerful enough to battle everyone in there at once, he didn't have Catt's sickness, and was many times faster than Catt himself. He had two magic sword, both powerful runeswords, and one bound to him. He was also skilled in dark magic, especially necromancy, so he could raise a massive army to boot.

He had called him with a simple spell, and had convinced him to help out fine. It was at Louis's side that things went bad.

Apparently, the Overlord had heard Louis was going somewhere, and had decided to tag along. That was terrible! He had indirectly taken time out of the Overlord. He who was over kings! Even worse, was when the Hero King found out his rival/best friend was going somewhere, and he had decided to tag along.

Trying to get it over quickly, as to not wast the time of the four possibly most important people in his world, Catt had tried to explain he just needed some backup so he could get through this without loss of life. Being a Hero, the Hero King nodded, and prepared to charge in. However, like any good rival/best friend, the Overlord made it a competition.

Next thing he knew, over five hundred knights and mages, and a near insurmountable amount of paladins, were called out to help beat the Hero Kings rival. On the other side of the courtyard, almost five hundred spellswords and dark magic users were called up, with a near insurmountable amount of undead and beasts. In the middle, were a line of strange mounts the two were trying to decide to compete with. Dragons, the nigh untameable, motorcycles, of which Catt had no idea, on foot, or on a giant flying disk, of which Catt personally thought were silly, until they flew almost fifteen times his max running speed.

I should have know this would happen! Catt screamed in his mind, watching how the soldiers handled the competition with practiced ease. Which is weird, considering they've had their thrones for less than a year. Catt sighed, as he took his place on his pure white dragon, following right behind the king on his motorcycle. The two pulled out enchanted lances and rushed at the door, literally putting the pedal to the medal.

One solid push brought both doors, and the two rode towards the army of men faster than most had ever seen. Both pulled out a pistol, which Catt supposed were like better muskets, and fired shots into each soldier. Three of them dying instantly, five losing their ability to move, and four of them fell clutching a massive hole in their flesh.

Then, stood only the tall, blind, muscular fire mage. He could apparently see through heat, but Catt didn't really understand that. The two heroes stared at each other. "Dibs!" they both called at once, "Dibs! You owe me a soda!" they they both called at once. The two stared at each other, bloodlust in their eyes. "I find your sister hot/attractive!" they both yelled at once, the Overlord saying hot and the Hero King saying attractive. "Ahah! We are on different wavelengths!" they shouted at once. "Darn it!"

Both ground their teeth, before launching a massive spell at the man, Purified Death Aura from the Overlord and Judgement from the Hero King.

The blind old man died instantly.

Then, as if in the same mind, the two looked up at each other, "What was that about my sister?" they asked, before waving off the other's question, "Nothing, you must be hearing things."
