Explanation: A Nura: Rise of the Yokai clan fanfiction with the main character having a 'Gamer' ability.
I did put a few ideas that could freely be added into, and removed from the story, such as his desire to become the Third Head, as opposed to the anime, or his use of the party system.
In total, these are:
The specific type of 'Gamer system': You could easily change this, into the system of The Gamer, any video game you like, a point-buy system, or even something close to what I did in Shirou's life is a game, and have it dependent on his power, have it reincarnate him every time he dies, or even have it a power he was born with, form his Yokai, or human side. It's up to you. Also, feel free to change the time when he gains the ability.
Resulting personality changes: I went with an easy to write path, and gave him a reassurance that he would win because of his powers. This is not necessarily the case, as he could still act the exact same, or use it to embrace just his human, or Yokai path, or even have him completely reject and ignore it.
Relative power: In this, he was mentioned to be much stronger than in the anime, as a result of accepting his power. However, as a result he has less of a power slope, and ended up only slightly higher. Feel free to make him underpowered, or overpowered, or at the place he was in the anime, or manga. So long as it's entertaining, I'm sure no one will mind.
Values: I didn't, necessarily, change his values, but a new power, and changed pasts may very well have changed his life. For instance, if the Game shows where people are, or the classical screen above their heads, his father very well might have lived longer, changing him forever.
Knowledge: I didn't give him much more knowledge than the Cannon Shirou, but you very well could let him know who killed his father, or remember everything about how it happened. Feel free to do whatever fits the story.
Human-side powers: In the show, Nura's only special, non-Yokai power is the power to wield his follower's powers. You could add in a human power like what his grandmother had, or something completely different.
Interest/ ability to use Onmyouji weapons: I had Nura see these weapons as a valid power source, and a good source of 'buffs'. You could easily, however, decide that he never takes such interest in these weapons, or have him use them since the very beginning. It's all up to you how you want to run the story.
He was really little when it first happened. His father, the Second Head of the Nura Clan, was leading the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, and he had really wanted to go. When he asked his father. To his credit, his father did considerate, but eventually explained that, to lead the Night Parade, he would need to activate his blood. After a short bout of sadness, he was excitedly searched for something that would activate his blood, after he had learned what the word activate meant, of course.
It was during this, in fact, that he had found it. It was a small, glowing box that sat at the edge of his favorite play-spot. Rikuo, not a stupid kid, by any means, picked up a nearby stick, a particularly long one, he gently poked the time honored toy and weapon against the time honored tool to grow creativity and hold objects of considerable proportionate size. Him explaining it like that was not at all exaggeration to commemorate the important occasion.
The important thing, however, was that the glowing box did nothing. A second, harder prod didn't stir anything either, and a final push didn't seem to do anything else. So, Rikuo concluded that the box was safe. So, with that concluded, he simply reached towards the glowing, mysterious, interesting box.
It was here Rikuo liked to inform his audience, and himself, that, for a child, that was a remarkable display of self-control.
Sadly, the box was a trick. Not the sort where some object pops out and scares you, or any dangerous ones, but a simple game. In fact, you could say the box was a Game in and of itself, because, when he opened it, he instantly blacked out. Apparently it was less than a minute before he woke back up, but there was no way he could know exact times.
He did know, however, that when he woke up, his entire life was a game. The screen floating above his head way proof of that. "Rikuo Nura, The Third Heir, Level 43."
Sadly, his level and stats were still comparatively low, at least compared to the higher ups in the Nura clan. It was because of this that he decided to wait three more years before taking on his actual responsibilities as Heir of the Nura Clan.
The Game did allow him to do several things, such as talk to his Brother, not biologically of course, Zen from long distances away, and keep him healthy enough to actually do most of the things yokai did on a regular bases. Sadly, using his poison for too long still drained his Health away, but since he kept his Vitality up, as well as his Wisdom and Intelligence, he was able to become a fairly powerful Clan Head in his own right. Currently, he sat a comfortable Level 40, and had almost five hundred more Health and Mana, even though he himself had more Mana than seventy-five percent of the Nura clan, including yokai who used their special ability a lot.
He was currently using that very function, using the Game's 'chat room' to speak to his best friend and Brother even though they were kilometers apart. Right now, the discussion was turned back to training, and how soon he believed he could take over the Nura clan. Zen was always pressuring him to take up the role as fast as possible, as his poison got stronger by the day, if by one damage, and his Poison Resistance Skill nullified it's effects by almost 99%.
Still, even if he pressured as hard as he could, it probably wouldn't speed up Nura's training. In fact, most of the yokai had skills or abilities that, quite often, doubled, or even tripled their power. As of now, taking the position in two years would still make me one of the weakest major heads. I would probably develop some sort of powerful title when I took the position, but I still doubt that I'll truly be able to compete with the true Clan Heads.
Even some of the Clan Heads loyal to a fault, such as Gyuki, could still beat me easily if they took him seriously. Zen knew this, but was still tried to pressure him into getting the position as early as possible. Honestly, he believed it was out of habit now more than anything else.
Sighing, the Heir of the Nura clan put on his shoes, intent on going to the third best place to pick up stat points, school.

Today was the day. His friends were going to investigate the old building behind the school. Since he had actually checked it out the first day that he was at his middle school, he knew it was actually haunted. The fifty three yokai I brought home are a reminder of that. he chuckled inwardly. He had a plan to not let them see any yokai that were there, but it was too loose for his liking.
For one, he wasn't sure he could get in there and get out before his friends arrived, and he wasn't sure he wouldn't make any noticeable damage if he got into a fight inside. His yokai form would help with the preparation, but he wouldn't be able to turn it off for the rest of the night. Even if he didn't activate it personally, he wasn't sure he could even keep himself from turning into his night form, as it had gotten rather hard to control after level five.
The young Heir of the Nura Clan sighed a final time, before slipping on his shoes.

Rikuo stared at his blade. He hadn't really paid much attention to it's description, it basically told him that it was an old onmyouji blade that could only cut yokai and gained power by taking a small portion of their power. It was only when he left a battle and it got a hundred base damage stronger that her truly considered it's description anything important.
There was another reason he was observing his favorite sword so carefully.
"Master Rikuo why can't you attend this most important meeting in your yokai form?" Karasu-Tengu asked. He smiled, "It's not like I can switch back and forth with a snap of my fingers you know?" he joked playfully, fully aware that it only took him clicking on an icon to change back and forth. My yokai form decreases Wisdom by ten percent! You see, currently, Rikuo was at a General's Meeting, with almost all of the top brass of the Nura Clan present, including Zen, who could probably see him bringing up screens now that he thought about it.
A quick look a Zen revealed that he was doing the same, though on people, instead of their attire and weaponry. Far too serious.
There was a third reason, and why he was curios in the first place. His classmate, Yura, was an onmyouji. When he looked at her stats, she had remarkable Intelligence, higher than even his own, and mid-low in every other stat. When he had seen her shikigami, he instantly realized their power. Each one was level thirty, and would probably get stronger the more she used them and the more Mana she used. She seemed to be able to maintain at least one at a time permanently.
If he had a shikigami, which he could probably use, thanks to him being mostly human, he could supplement some of his guards with them, and risk them, instead of his followers.
His real interest, however, had been her Rentei cannon. It had a small, built in long-range attack, and had offered major bonuses to all her stats. In fact, a quick observation showed that all her shikigami's weapons had at least ten% bonuses on them. That was major, for a piece of paper.
When he looked at his sword, it didn't give any bonuses, but it's damage was the highest he had ever seen, with over ten thousand max. In comparison, the sword Gyuki used against him had about five hundred damage, max, and about fifty damage minimum. In fact, Gyuki was hitting him upwards of four hundred points, while on three separate status effects decreasing his damage because he was 'holding back'.
It was one of the reasons he was so confident in his judgment of Gyuki.
"But Master! They just won't take you seriously if you walk in looking like that!" he yelled. Rikuo sighed, observing what his Empathy skill gave him. Actually, about half don't care, and about a quarter of the remaining admire me for doing such a thing. his mind traitorously complained.
"What is the purpose of this General Assembly?" asked Hitotsume Nyudo. "If this meeting of the clans is what I think it's for, then this is hardly the time for us to be celebrating with such a feast." he grumbled.
Rikuo sighed, He really doesn't like me.

The leader of the Shikoku Hachijuhakki Yako stood in front of him, along with a dog yokai that seemed to fit that title perfectly. Both of them together were a little more that his human strength right now, and he could tell that the dog's would grow via an emotion, though he wasn't sure which one. To be fair, he also had some weak shikigami that he could use instead of a sword, and could probably punch and kick his way through both these two by himself.
"A flower in each arm, big shots really have it nice, huh?" the teen stood in front of him. Rikuo, not knowing what exactly was happening, though guessing it wasn't far from what he would assume it to be, chuckled. "You wouldn't believe it if I told you. I have half of them out for my head, a quarter with full support, and a quarter undecided. You can come with us if you like."
Of course, this statement brought one of 'his' flowers to some slight shock. "Huh, Nura do you know them?" she asked. Nura, entirely self-confident, nodded, "If I'm not mistaken anyway. His family competed with mine for a long time, he's probably here on business. Sorry, but I think I need to take care of this now, you don't mind do you?" he asked, using a small portion of his yokai to convince her. She smiled, and shook her head.
As she walked off, Nura turned back to the two in front of him. "Sorry about that, don't want her to know who I truly am yet, so what do you want?"
...Time Skip...
Now at his house, Nura politely listened to his new found enemy's speech. "Okay then." The new rival completly lost his composure. "What do you mean 'okay then'! I'll gather more Fear than you and destroy your clan!" he growled out. His companion dog yokai looked even more angry. Nura just chuckled, "Well, there's no way that you could beat the entire Nura Clan with just you nine. Perhaps if you had brought your father's clan as well, but not as it is. Besides, the Nura Clan will never fall to something so petty." he smirked.
His rival seemed off set, which only made Nura want to make his next statement even more. "If you want to, you can join the winning side." he told them. The enemy smiled brightly, "Very well, if I lose I shall join your clan, but don't think I will go down easily!" he shouted. Nura smiled, feeling confident that he would win.

After a few months, Nura had yet another problem. The Kyoko Yokai were starting to revel up in Kyoko. They were threatening one of his friends, and he had to get revenge for his father. Walking into his grandfather's room freely, he smiled, "I'm taking our forces to Kyoko to battle with Haguromo Gitsune." he casually announced, still very much in his human form. His grandfather raised an eyebrow, before Nura's form slowly faded away. Nurarihyon, the ex leader of the night parade of a hundred demons, smirked.
Random Sentence!: I cut it short because it spent so much time being developed, and I have over a dozen other projects. Also, I didn't have multiple versions!
