Chapter 3: Weird

Well... once again not owned by me, yada yada these things are boring, now onto the story.

Well, the way to the dorms, that I knew of was apparently the long way, which Reid just had to reminded me almost every five minutes.

"So which floor are you on?" Reid asked as we pulled in to the building that was leering over us.

"Third." I responded getting out of the car, then locking it.

Starting for the door Reid said. "Oh good. means I'll be running into you pretty often." He held the door for me as we walked in. His voice came from behind me as I headed for the stairs when he started "I was wondering..." Uh oh never a good thing. I thought, as I turned around stepping up on the first stair.

"What kind of song would we have danced to?" He asked smirking at me coming in closer.

"Um, well." I started. Oh yeah. I'm on fricken fire tonight, huh? I thought bitterly inwardly cursing at myself. "Well... A fast song?" I said a little vaguely. He laughed as I turned around and headed up the stairs, with a huff. 'oh yeah, that was definitely a hott laugh.' I thought continuing to climb the stairs. He was behind me. yep, definitely glad I decided against wear a skirt this afternoon.

"What does it matter anyways?" I asked sending a look behind me.

"I'm not exactly a slow song kinda guy, if you catch my drift." He'd answered with a shrug.

"Ahh... so you were never taught how to dance." I laughed out with a nod of my head as he quickened his pace to walk besides me. He simply stuck his tongue out at me.

"And, mature. You're full of surprises Mr. Garwin."

"Yeah, yeah... what dorm are you in?" He asked changing the subject.

"65."

"Oh, I'm in 59." He responded. I nodded now noticing that we were on the second floor. "Isn't 65 a single dorm, you have no roommate." He stated more then asked.

"I guess so" I answered with a shrug.

"Well, your parents must be rich." He stated nonchalantly.

I got silent then suddenly spoke up saying "Actually my parents are dead." Slowly, we were getting closer to staircase number three. "Oh, I'm sorry." He said quickly the awkwardness quickly seeping into the conversation.

"No, its ok, I guess; I didn't really know them. My dad died when I was like 2, car accident. He was hit by a drunk driver." I explained.

"What about your mom?" He asked with mild interest.

I slowed to a stop and lifted my gaze to him. " Sorry, you don't have to answer that." He said a little too quickly shaking his head at himself.

I just suddenly started explaining, like I couldn't help it, like I wanted to talk about it with him. "My mother apparently couldn't take living with out my Dad, even if I was there or not, so; she killed herself." I said sounding far away, even for me. "Talk about 'till death do us part, even then some of us don't get a break." I added making a joke trying to banish the air of sadness creeping up on me.

We finally got to my Dorm room. "Well, this is me." I sighed out as we came to door numbered 65.

"Yeah." He nodded. He started to leave when I suddenly surprised myself by griping his arm and saying, "Wait!" Even he seemed taken by surprise, but recovered aster than I had and returned that sexy as hell smirk back into place. "Hmm?" was all he'd said.

"Um actually, why don't you come in?; I was wondering if I could ask you a question or two." I said turning to unlock the door thinking what the hell am I doing? I walked in and hearing the door close behind me gave me this weird feeling of nervousness "Well, instead of coming to my dorm, here we are at yours; looks like the deal has been flipped." Knowing another golden opptunity wouldn't show itself again I knew it was now or never.

"About my questions." I said turning around becoming more serious.

"Right; shoot." He said making himself comfortable on my bed.

"Okay." I sighed sitting on my chair at my desk facing him.

"Why do people call you guys the Son's of Ipswich?" I asked.

"Because we're the Descendants of the-"he started. Quickly cutting him off I said "Does that mean you guys have powers too?" I asked.

Reid looked shocked. His mouth fell open, and his eyes widened.

Looking to my feet feeling a bit intrusive, I bit my lip expecting him to laugh or say 'no that's the biggest rumor around here.' Or something to that effect but he proved me right. All of a sudden I couldn't move. " What-?" I started to say looking to Reid ebony eyes.

"Who are you?" Reid asked calmly but his voice sent a chill up my spine.

"Reid, I'm not an idiot; I knew already. I did some research on you guys." I said.

"Answer my question." He said. Oye. Now who's being intrusive? I thought. And forceful. My brain added as an after thought. "My name is Kayla Parker." I replied as calmly as possible. I saw something that seemed like recognition in Reid's eyes but I wasn't certain exactly. When suddenly my body was propelled forwards on it's own. I felt weightless as I oved across the room. Reid's eyes scanned me up and down as if searching for something. I knew to expect some form of resistance, or disbelief but this was ridiculous. I didn't do well with ridiculous.

I was being pulled closer to a smirking Reid. His arm found its way around my waist, "Reid." It came out as a soft whisper. His grin grew probably thinking that his closeness was effecting me, and I won't lie it was, but I certainly won't admit that to him. My eyelids fluttered closed.

His grip loosened slightly, probably at the surprise that I had my own very much real, black eyes. Smirking and slightly nodding my head in the direction behind him. He was pinned against my door. My grin grew as a sexy groan escaped past his lips. He scowled at me as I knawed on my lower lip. Thakful for my body being back under my own control. "Bitch." He muttered rubbing the back of his head.

"I think you mean witch." I corrected. He smirked at that his eyes coming back to me.

"What do you know of someone named Alice Parker?" I asked taking a step towards him.

"Why?"

"Just answer the question." I said repeating his words back to him.

"She's in our book as an accused witch." He began. "She had a husband, and there might have been a connection between her and the Putnam's- Who were also accused and hanged."

"First," I interrupted. "She was a witch and second, there is a connection, between her and the Putnam's she was one of John Putnam's illegitimate children." After he was hung of course." I explained. I could see some surprise in his eyes at that piece of knowledge, but his expression showed his skepticism.

"You know, we have a book on all of the people recorded to have been accused, and I only recall a little blurb on this Alice Parker. How do I even know you're telling the truth?" Reid asked as he came in closer.

I turned my face up to his defiantly, "I've done my research well." I've proven tonight that I have abilities as well, haven't I?"

"And, your.. parents?" He began, "What do they have to say about your... abilities." He asked clearly not buying my story.

"They- they don't know about it." I said feeling defeated. I sat back down heavily on the bed. "I- I didn't know how to tell them. My-my mom stuck with me long enough to teach me control, but- but that was it."

Wait, wait, wait. You're mom?" Reid asked flabberghasted.

At my nod he had an Aha! moment, "See? You may have powers, but that's how I know you're not related to John Putnam. All our powers come down through our father's." He explained.

I shook my head knowing I was right. "No, Reid I-." He cut me off holding his hands up.

"There's some pretty big things that aren't just gonna change all of a sudden-." He had started to explain away my story again so I stood and walked to the door.

"If you're going to sit there, and talk over me before I can explain things then maybe it'd be best for you to just leave." I had my hand on the door knob when suddenly I felt his hand move over mine.

"No." He said. His eyes locked on mine, "I want to hear what you have to say. You- you just have to understand how weird this is." He said with a shrug.

My eyebrow quirked up at him, "Weird?" I chuckled. "Reid. A ring of fire flashes through your eyes turning them pitch black and you can just will whatever you'd like to happen... but my story is weird."

He laughed with a shrug as our hands fell from the door and we began leaning in closer to one another. When a noise made me jump back.
