Author's note: re-edit 6 July 2022

This story was originally about Heather. I wrote it before RTTE, so I'm changing the character from Heather to a random character Agneta, mainly because Heather from RTTE wouldn't do this. Maybe Heather from Dragon Riders... Anyway, enjoy!

Everyone knows not to talk to Astrid when she is angry.

And by goodness she was angry today.

People literally jump out of her way as she storms through the marketplace. People wait for her to pass before exiting their homes. They all hope that they are not the recipients of her anger today.

The unfortunate soul who had angered her was none other than a certain black-haired vixen who had taken a suspicious liking to the local forge.

Well, maybe not so much the forge…more like the young man who worked in the forge.

Her man.

Everyone on Berk knew about their engagement. Everyone in the archipelago knew about their engagement. So either this girl was from another universe, or she just didn't care.

Either way, Astrid was on a mission to set her straight.

It had been a perfectly fine day up until that point. It had been an easy morning patrol. The twins had not yet blown anything up. Hiccup had even surprised her with a lunch at the cove. And then her axe head had chipped, and Hiccup headed over to the forge to fix it for her. And that…that thing decided to take her opportunity.

They had been on Berk barely a week when this girl started to show up everywhere. Right next to Hiccup in the dining hall, right behind Hiccup on patrol, right across from Hiccup during dragon training. It was infuriating.

Astrid had tried to be civil. She had tried to let it go. Hiccup reassured her that Agneta was just excited about dragons, and she had nothing to worry about.

Agneta. Meaning purity. Yeah right.

Now though, well now she refused to hold herself back anymore.

Because now this girl was chasing Hiccup round the forge. Well, not chasing. More like Hiccup was trying to work and she kept on getting closer to him. And he would move and she would follow. And he looked at her frustratedly and move. And she kept getting closer and closer. And now she had cornered Hiccup and was practically in his lap and enough was enough…

"What the hell do you think you are doing!"

Agneta turned her head and looked Astrid dead in the eyes. She knew exactly what she was doing. She smirked, before looking back at Hiccup with a gasp and pushing him away.

"Hiccup, you have a girlfriend?", she cried, "how could you?"

"What are you talking-," he tried to get past her but she didn't budge, "Astrid, I'm so sorry I-"

Astrid wasn't listening. She grabbed Agneta by her stupid ponytail and dragged her across the forge.

"You thought you could try that with my fiancé?" she shouted.

"Fiancé? Hiccup, I never would have-"

"Shut up! You liar!"

"Liar, me?" She smirked.

"Yes, you! You filthy, lying, piece of-"

Just before Astrid could throw a punch Hiccup grabs her arms and pulls her back.

"Okay, Astrid, could we chat over here for just a-"

"No Hiccup." Astrid tries to break free of his grip, with no avail. "I need to show this trash a lesson in what happens when you try and get with my-"

The girl smirked again, "Hey, he was asking for it!"

Hiccup's grip loosens in shock, "No I wasn't!"

"No he wasn't!"

Astrid lets out a bloodcurdling scream, and breaks free of Hiccup. And instantly tackles Agneta to the ground.

Hiccup tried to pull Astrid out of the fray with no avail.

The noise was drawing a small crowd. And Astrid didn't look like she was going to stop any time soon.

"If you ever even think about going near Hiccup again so help me…"

Hiccup finally saw his dad approaching and shouted for help. Gobber returned to the forge, dropping the weapons he was carrying in shock. It took all three men to pull the women apart.

The damage that the girls had done in under a minute was impressive. Bruises had already started forming on their faces. Their clothes were ripped. Scratches marked their arms. Both of them were out of breath and furious. Astrid looked as though she was about to try and finish the job. Agneta looked much worse for wear, but still ready to take her on.

"Hiccup, why don't you take Astrid home?" Stoick looked over to Astrid and glares. "Make sure that she gets there." He then shifts his gaze to Agneta. "Gobber, take her to Gothi's. And make sure these two do not under any circumstances get within 10 feet of each other. Understood?"

Hiccup and Gobber still look shell shocked.

"Understood?" Stoick bellows.

This snaps them out of their trance, and immediately moved to separate the two women as quickly as was humanly possible.

The ride back to Astrid's house was quiet. Astrid still was completely frustrated, and just wanted to go to the forest and scream. But she knew Hiccup would not be letting this go any time soon. So she just sat and fumed.

And of course, he wouldn't let her go inside by herself. He walked in with her, and waited while she cleaned herself up, and made her drink a cup of water, and got her something to eat, and was being so nice but was still not saying anything. Which made it all worse really. It wasn't until he started to tend to the cuts on her arm that she couldn't take it anymore.

"Hiccup, I can manage myself. You don't need to stay."

Hiccup looked up at her with a look, as if to say 'yeah right', and then kept on bandaging her arms.

Astrid glared.

"Hiccup just say something. Anything."

"Something. Anything."

Astrid groaned.

"Hiccup!"

"Well, what do you want me to say?"

"I don't know. But you sitting there silent is really annoying."

More silence. Astrid almost went to berate him again when,

"You didn't need to do that."

Astrid blinked.

"Do what?"

"You…"

Hiccup closed his eyes in frustration.

"You shouldn't have fought with her like that."

"Hiccup I-"

"Astrid, you could have gotten seriously hurt. She wasn't worth it."

"I know that."

"You were completely reckless."

"I know that too."

"So why on earth did you do it?"

"I lost it Hiccup. I saw what she was doing, and I just, I saw red. All I could see was her stupid face, with that stupid smirk, and…she knew what she was doing Hiccup!"

"Astrid, calm down, I don't think-"

"Hiccup, she knew. She just didn't care. I've tried to ignore it. I've tried to remember what you keep telling me. But today she just…she crossed a line Hiccup, and I just couldn't-"

Hiccup held Astrid by her shoulders and looked her directly in the eyes.

"Astrid, listen to me."

Astrid tries to look away, but Hiccup continues to meet her gaze.

"Astrid, whether or not she knew. Whether or not she cared. Whatever her intentions where-"

"I think we know what her intentions were-"

"-it does not matter. Okay, maybe I was a bit dense to it all-"

Astrid scoffs.

"-but it doesn't change the fact that I am with you."

Astrid glares at Hiccup.

"Well then why didn't you send her away?"

Hiccup sighed.

"Astrid, I did. Well, I tried. Before today she had never…today was different. All of a sudden she just started going on about 'us' and 'together' and 'you know you want it', and I kept telling her no, and I asked her several times to leave, and she just wouldn't listen-"

"-So she needed to be stopped!"

"Not the way you did it."

Astrid grinned, "At least my way worked."

Hiccup chuckled to himself.

"Yes, I suppose it did."

Hiccup pulled Astrid towards him, wrapping his arms around her tightly.

"I'm still upset that you did that Astrid."

Astrid smiled into his shirt.

"I know. But you love me anyway."

Hiccup chuckled again.

"I love you anyway."

Maybe she shouldn't have reacted the way she did. But at the end of the day, she got Hiccup, and Agneta got a broken nose.

Worth it.
