Okay, I'm sorry I took so long to update last time, but I was writing a book (still am). This one is going to be interesting, just warning you. Also, I wanted to mention that the story was inspired by the song The Humbling River, by Pucifer. It is pretty easy to find on YouTube. Right now I am listening to Momma Sed, which is also by Pucifer
Crossing the River
Crazy Lady
"Where's Lennox?" I asked as I strolled into the hanger that served as the Gym. Everyone was lined up against the back wall except for Lennox and Majory, who walked in with me.
"Eating breakfast," Mix volunteered.
"Well I can't say I didn't warn him," I said with a shrug.
"It's not going to be fun for him when he gets here is it?" Jazz asked. He and Ironhide were both in holoform for this because the new recruits weren't allowed to know about the Autobots yet.
Ironhide's holoform was about 5'9, heavily muscled and built like a tank. He had short, spiky black hair and a large scar over his right eye. Like the rest of the Autobots he had electric blue eyes. He was wearing a light gray tight fitting T-shirt, over which military dog tags that had his info on one tag and the Autobot symbol on the other were proudly displayed. He wore the standard issue NEST uniform, with the top half worn more like a jacket that a button up shirt.
"No, no it is not," I said, just as Lennox came rushing in.
"Sorry I'm late!" he said.
"No, you are not sorry Major William Lennox, at least not yet," I said, fixing the man in a steely gaze. Lennox gulped, and I could see that he was starting to realize what he was getting into.
"Oh shit, I'm screwed aren't I?" he asked.
"Run a lap around base. Now." I said.
"But it-"
"Two laps. Now go!" I shouted in his face. The Major jumped, eyes widening comically before he turned and ran for the exit with a mutter of 'crazy lady' as he left. I heard Mix snorting from behind me, accompanied by a giggle from Majory.
"What's so funny?" I asked them, focusing on the group in front of me yet again.
"You are acting just like your father, Johnny had the same Steely glare that you do, and he was just as sharp with late comers," Mix said.
"Y'all are weird," I told the duo, shaking my head.
"We know," Majory said.
"That you do, that you do," I said with a there-and-gone smirk, "alright, now while we're waiting on Mr. Tardy McTardy-Pants, we can get to work. Every one stretch!" I shouted. I sat on the ground and grabbed my toes and they did the same. Twenty minutes of stretching later a panting and sweaty Lennox came jogging in.
"Done! So what's next?" Lennox asked.
"Time for us to run," I said, ignoring a hysterically laughing Mix and Majory in the back ground. Lennox looked borderline horrified as he stared at me.
"You're kidding right? I just ran two miles," he said.
"She did say she would put you through hell if you were late. Did you think she was just going to make you drop and do fifty? When she said hell, she meant it," Mix said from behind me.
"I thought she was joking!" Lennox protested.
"I don't joke. Now everyone, we're going to run six times around base," I said. The reactions were varied. Ironhide shrugged, as did Jazz, and started running. Majory ran after them with a comment of 'easy as cake' tossed over her shoulder. Mix continued to stretch as Lennox gave me an even more horrified look.
"Six more lapps? How the hell do you expect me to do six more laps?" he asked.
"Because I can do twenty four and still have the energy to do a lot more than that, Mix come on," I said, and ran out the door with Mix hot on my heels.
"Can you really do that many laps?" Mix asked as we started to pass the others.
"Yes," I said.
"How?"
"It's good to have a large amount of endurance, and running was an outlet" I said.
"Hmm," Mix said with a thougtfull look. As the conversation faded I started to speed up, and despite a few of the grones of the people behind me, the others matched my pace. About half an hour later we jogged back into the wherehouse. Mix and Majory were a little out of breath, the holoforms were fine, and Lennox was wheezing like I ninety year old asthmatic in a house full of cats.
"How… the hell… can you run that fast?" Lennox wheezed.
"I ran," I said.
"But that doesn't-" he said.
"okay, we have about ten minuits before the recruits get here. As long as your doing something, I don't care what it is. Jazz, Ironhide, your help setting up would be apriciated," I said.
"Alright, what do you need?" Jazz asked.
"Help me set up various stations and getting the presentation ready to go would be nice," I said, starting to feel like I finally had a place here.
