Crossing the River

New Arrival

Knock, knock, knock!

"What?!" I shouted at the door, sitting up and looking at the clock. 0300 hours. What the fuck?!

"Whisper! Wake. Up!" Major Lennox shouted through the door.

"I'm up, I'm up! Give me a minuit!" I shouted, putting on my boots.

" What is it?" I said, opening the door.

"There's a new arrival heading towards earth, you coming?" Lennox asked.

"Give me a second!" I said, slamming the door in his face and racing to my bed. Grabbing my gear and M-16

"All right lets go already!" I shouted, running out of the door in the direction of the hanger.

"You sleep in full gear?" Lennox asked, running besides me.

"Yes sir. What do you know about the new arrival?" I asked.

"His name is Sideswipe. Going on the abnormal amount of swearing coming from Ratchet and Jazz's Cheshire grin, he's most likely a prankster. He made contact with Prime at around 0100 hours and was passing Mars when he made contact, so we're expecting him to make landfall at around 0400 hours. You're awake for three in the morning kid," Lennox said as we entered the main hanger.

"Training, ask Mix," I said, walking over to Jazz.

"Hey Whisper," Jazz said, transforming down.

"Hello Jazz," I said with a small chuckle, slipping into the driver's seat.

"You seem cheery," Jazz said.

"I guess I am, probably because we're doing something. Anyway, do you know anything about this new bot?" I asked. Jazz's engine revved in a way that I learned to interpret as him being happy.

"Yep!" he said.

"So how do you know him?" I asked as we were motioned to enter the plane by Optimus.

"I'm a prankster, He's a prankster, we were at the same base and got talking," Jazz said.

"Alright, so what does he do?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" Jazz asked.

"Is he a commander, pilot, heavy hitter? What is his primary function in the Autobot Army?" I asked.

"Oh, He's a frontliner," Jazz said.

"Ah, alright, so why doesn't Ratchet like him?" I asked.

"Sides likes to prank Ratchet a lot. Ratchet doesn't actually mind him that much when he's not gluing the Medbay equipment to the ceiling, " Jazz said.

"Alright, good to know. I'm going to try to get some sleep, wake me when we get there?" I asked.

"Of course I will," Jazz said, reclining my seat.

"Thanks Jazzy," I said, closing my eyes.
