Candy's back hit the wall violently, causing her to lose her breath. Faintly, she could hear Dean screaming her name. He was trying to find her but she didn't have the air in her lungs to call to him, to alert him to her location. Another blow to the gut sent her yo the ground again. The vampire then grabbed a handful of her hair, yanked her to her feet, and shoved her against the wall again. It tightened his grip on her curls and pulled so that her head was tilted back.
"Mm, you smell so sweet, darling," it growled in her ear. "I can't wait to sink my teeth into you." Somehow, Candy managed to grab the vial of dead mans blood in her back pocket while it was distracted. It dipped its head to sniff her hair and neck, so she waited patiently for it to open its mouth. As soon as it did, she shoved the vial in and elbowed up the chin of the vampire. The vial shattered in its mouth. It stumbled back, coughing and sputtering.
"Dumbass," Candy chuckled, freeing her blade from its holster. "Hunters come prepared." With one quick and efficient swipe of the blade, Candy beheaded the monster. After it was done, she called for Sam and Dean, sliding back against the wall tiredly. They came running around the corner, but stopped as soon as they saw her sitting on the ground in front of a beheaded vampire. "A little late boys."
"You should've called for us," Dean grimaced.
"Kind of hard when you're being punched in the stomach," she retorted quickly. Sam laughed, the kind of playful, genuine laugh that always made Candy smile. It was something that reminded her of the Sam before the pit. Dean hurried over and helped Candy up, then took her face in her hands to examine the bruise starting to form under her eye.
"Damn it, Candy," he muttered, clearly upset by the markings on her face. Candy didn't feel bad or guilty for taking on the vampire alone. She felt great. She felt amazing and alive. Defeating the vamp on her own was exhilarating and made her forget about the war raging inside of her. The two battling emotions that tore her between the only two men she ever loved more than anything else in the world.
"Come on," Sam grabbed his brother's shoulder, "Let's get a drink." Dean seemed unsure of the idea, but eventually drove to the nearest bar. Candy rushed to the bathroom after Sam alerted her to a small splatter of blood on her blouse. She took it off and shoved it in a bag. When she came out of the bathroom, she was wearing nothing but a tight white tank top. Her lacy black bra could be clearly seem underneath. A man by the pool table whistled at her, and Dean got the sudden urge to ruin that man's life.
"He's about to lose a lot of money," Dean mumbled to Sam as he trotted over to the pool table. Sam took a seat at the bar and waited for Candy to make her way over to him. She hopped up onto the bar stool playfully, grinning at the young bartender standing behind the counter. Sam noticed she had put on some lip gloss while she was in the bathroom.
"Can I get a drink, bartender?" She asked flirtatiously. Sam scowled.
"It's David, actually," the bartender smiled, setting a glass on the counter. "You?"
"Candy," she told him. He poured her glass halfway with rum, then finished it off with coke. As she sipped the glass, she kept her focus on David. Sam watched angrily as the bartender bit his lip and dropped his eyes to Candy's cleavage. David stared at Candy as she gulped down four rum and cokes, all free of charge, which was her ultimate goal. It bothered Dean just as much as it did Sam, but as long as Dean didn't see it, Candy figured it was okay. She didn't have much money, and she didn't like Sam and Dean to pay for her. She was too independent for that, too crafty.
However, when the bartender leaned down and asked her to leave with him, Sam couldn't take it anymore. He stood up suddenly beside Candy. Unable to control himself under the influence of seven beers, Sam picked up Candy from the barstool, hands gripping her bottom firmly, and he set her down on the counter. She knocked over her glass and Sam's beer. David grimaced. Sam immediately began kissing Candy, one hand buried in her hair and the other holding her waist tightly. Candy was about to lose herself when Sam was yanked away from her.
"Here," Dean threw forty dollars on the counter. "We're leaving." Sam headed to the car first, followed by Dean, and lastly by Candy. Once outside, Dean grabbed Sam shoulder and spun him around furiously. "What the hell was that?"
"He asked her to go home with him."
"There were a million other ways to send a message, Sam, that didn't involve putting your hands on her!" Dean snapped. Candy climbed into the car, still buzzed from the alcohol. Her skin was hot and her body tingled from the intense passion that Sam put into his kiss. Her head was spinning, and she could feel herself getting excited.
"This isn't fair to me, Dean," Sam sighed. "It hasn't been. I love her. So much that it's killing me. She was all I thought about in the pit, and I want nothing more than to hold her, to feel her skin against mine again. To smell the strawberries in her hair. To touch her lips... I want all of these things more than I want anything else. Why do you get to have all of that, and I don't? What did I do so wrong to deserve this suffering?!" Sam was getting desperate now and Dean could tell. It wasn't fair. He was right about that. Dean didn't know how to help his brother other than offering a deal. Something he didn't want but had thought about before. "Help me here, Dean."
"I don't know how, Sammy," Dean grumbled. "I don't."
"Why can't we share her?" Sam proposed. Dean scoffed,
"Share her? She isn't an object we can pass back and forth. You're drunk." Candy got out of the car, then, both frustrated and intrigued by their conversation. She walked until she was standing between them.
"I don't care what you decide, Dean. I love you, and all I want is for you to be happy. Okay? Either way, I'm yours. I'll always be yours. Even if I'm not only yours."
"So you're okay with that? Being shared by two different guys?" Dean asked her curiously.
"Nothing will change the way I feel about you. And I care about Sam. I'll do anything I have to do to make you both happy, if I can." She placed her hand on Dean's cheek lovinlgy, standing on her toes to kiss him softly. "Tell me what you want, baby." Dean looked up at Sam, for once unable to ignore the pain in his eyes.
"Damn it," he groaned in frustration. "I can't give you up, Candy. I love you."
"I'm not asking you to give her up, Dean," Sam explained. "I wouldn't ask you to do that. I know what it's like to lose her. It's devastating."
"You're my brother, Sam, and I would do anything for you. You know that..."
"I know."
"If I agree to try this... Whatever this is... Will you promise that if it doesn't work, you'll back off?
" Yes, Dean, of course," Sam smiled. Without another word, Dean hopped into the driver's seat and started the car. Candy crossed her arms over her chest.
"Take it slow, Sam. For Dean's sake. And mine." She brought her gaze up to his. "I'm not a two man woman. I've never been unfaithful in my life, Sam. I'm not entirely comfortable with this. I love Dean. I love him so much and I can't lose him. So tread lightly."
"Of course," he nodded.
