Surprise again! I don't think I have updated any of my stories two days in a row for many, many years. I hope this makes up for leaving this story unattended for so long. Once again, if you are a returning reader and missed the story summary I put in my last chapter, you can find out below to get caught up quickly. Also, if you are a new reader and don't feel like reading the last few chapters, this is for you.
Story summary: The Winx girls received their wishes for destroying Tritannus. Aisha wished for her true love to come back, Stella wished for her parents to never have suffered a divorce, Tecna wishes her family and Timmy would get along, Flora wishes she could have saved her younger sister's life, Musa wishes her mother never died, and Bloom wished she was never sent to Earth. Bloom wakes up in a new world - new room, clothing, and appearance. More surprising, she has a new birth family (her mother, father, Daphne, a younger brother, Nikolaos, and a younger sister, Nerina. To top it all off, Daphne is the keeper of the Dragon Flame, not Bloom. Seeking comfort, her and her brother decide to take a trip to Earth to visit her adoptive family. Vanessa and Mike don't recognize Bloom. Instead of them being Bloom's adoptive parents - they are now Mitzi's. It seems like Daphne has stolen her life on Domino and Mitzi has stolen her life on Earth!
Reminders: I sometimes get confused between all of the versions of Winx (original, 4Kids, Nickelodeon, and Rai). If you see a mistake in the consistency with the story, please point it out. Also, this story is written when season 5 hadn't ended yet. This means, no plot points from the second half of season 5 and later will be included. This also includes any characters introduced in season 6/7, as well as transformations. I am aware there is now a Mythix transformation in the show - the Mythix transformation in this story was created before, therefore, it has no relation. I have not watched most of season 5, or any of season 6 and 7. I also haven't watched Winx in a very long time, so some of my knowledge might be rusty. Please correct if you see anything wrong. I hope this makes sense! Please let me know if you have a problem with anything.
Enjoy!
The Obvious Wishes
Bloom landed on the floor of the ship with a thud, her head spinning. Her stomach flipped, making her gag. She groaned and rolled onto her stomach, falling right beside Nikolaos. She threw up on the floor of the ship, the events from the day catching up with her.
Her birth family – different.
Her powers – gone.
Her adoptive family – gone.
Her life – gone.
She groaned and threw up again. Nick scrambled to his knees, brushing her flame hair out of her eyes.
"Just give it a second," Nick said. Bloom breathed deeply, trying to calm her body down. In front of her eyes, her mess disappeared.
"What?"
"Anything you spill will be cleaned. A good charm to know," Nick mumbled. He rubbed between her shoulder blades. "Are you okay?" he questioned. She chuckled dryly.
"I really don't care if I'm okay or not." Nick sighed and rubbed his head, leaning away from her.
"Well, I do care. I care a lot about you, Bloom. You're my sister. Now, answer me, please. Are you okay?" He hooked his finger under her chin, guiding her face to look up at him. Their eyes connected. Bloom sighed and shut her eyes, turning away from him.
"Physically, yes. In any other way? Hell no." Tears threatened to fall once again as she thought back to the mess she just left. She felt like he was going to get sick as she thought about the fact that she did this to herself. Her stupid wish.
"Just as I thought," he mumbled. He reached for her hand, grasping it tightly in his. "Can you look at me?" She just remained on the floor with her eyes shut. Nick reached forward and began to stroke her hair. Her bushy hair. "Bloom, I don't understand what is happening, but, whatever it is, please know that I am here for you. I always will be. You'll never, ever have to deal with this alone. Just, please, open up to me. I love you. I am worried for you."
Bloom's breathing hitched and she felt more tears gathering under her eyelids.
The love that Nick was showing her was just too much. He had been so kind towards her – checking to make sure she wasn't injured after training, taking responsibility for her with their family, sneaking out of the castle with her, trusting that she knew what she was doing going to a dead planet, not asking questions when she couldn't remember her life, comforting her when her world came crashing down, and, now, showing her an intense amount of love – just what she needed.
Despite her worries, she began to feel herself start trusting him. Even though she had only known him for a day, something in her heart felt right.
Was it fate? Did the Great Dragon always intend on her having a brother, but this was taken away from her because of Domino's destruction?
Either way, Bloom knew there was a connection to Nick. She felt like she had known him her entire life. The princess determined that her past self must have been extremely lucky to have a brother like Nick.
"I'm just going to start the ship," Nick told her gently, breaking the silence. "We need to get home before mother and father get too worried," Nick said. He lifted Bloom up and set her down lightly in the co-pilot chair. He buckled her seat belt before flipping a few switches on the control panel. He sat down in his own chair and began preparations for takeoff.
Bloom got lost in her thoughts again.
What about her sisters?
Bloom wasn't sure what to think of them yet.
The whole point of her wish was to bring Daphne back to her, but it did almost the exact opposite! Daphne acted completely the opposite as to how she usually acted in her old life. Where was the kind and caring girl that sacrificed her life for Bloom to live? From what she could tell, this girl didn't exist. The only remains of the Daphne she knew was the blonde hair and being host to the Dragon Fire.
And her younger sister? What was her name… Nora? She seemed nice enough, even though she only spoke a few words to her. Bloom faintly remembered this younger girl blasting her with water. How was it possible that her younger sister had powers over water? Both her and Daphne controlled fire! Fire and water definitely do not mix.
The ship took to the sky with a rumble, sending Bloom's hands to grasp the armrests.
Bloom's stomach turned. Fire and water do not mix. Would that mean she wouldn't get along with this younger sister? Would that mean they would clash instantly? Bloom wondered how Bloom from this universe dealt with her sister.
In fact, she wondered how Bloom from this universe acted in general! Her family was looking at her like she had completely lost it. Did that other Bloom have any common personality traits with herself? Daphne didn't seem to be the same girl.
This thought reminded Bloom of the incident in her room earlier this morning. Who was that man? She swore she had scene him before, but she couldn't place his face. What was his name? Jared? Jay? It didn't matter – Bloom was beyond confused as to why he was in her room.
Well, as she had come to realize, that, in fact, was not her room – it was Daphne's. That still didn't help. Why would a random guy be in her bedroom?
"I have it set on autopilot – thank the Dragon for that." Nick lightly rubbed her hand, breaking Bloom out of her train of thoughts. "We'll be home soon. When you want to talk, I'll be here. This whole thing – it's our little secret. I can get one of the maids to make you a hot cocoa. That should help calm your nerves. It's going to be oka-"
Nick never got to finish his scentence.
Instantly, Bloom's surroundings changed drastically. Instead of sitting in the front of the ship, she was sitting on the pick couch in the Winx's dorm at Alfea.
A smile lit up her face and her heart sang with joy.
This must be another flashback that her guardian warned her about. She was in the Alfea dorm, meaning she did go to Alfea. She knew it! She couldn't have a flashback about something that never happened!
Even though Bloom wasn't actually in her dorm, she felt at home. Some weight lifted off of her shoulders. This was the one silver lining in a day full of darkness.
"Here you go, honey," a soft voice cooed in Bloom's ear. The fire fairy could feel the warm breath on her side, sending a shiver down her spine. She spun to face where the voice was coming from.
"Flora!" Bloom said excitedly, another smile lighting up her face. She spun around so her knees were on the cushions, allowing her to look Flora directly in her eyes. "Oh, I've missed you so much! I can't believe you're here and I have so much to-"
Flora's hand reached forward, a cup of a steaming liquid in hand.
Bloom screamed and jumped back as the hand passed right through her head. She scrambled to her feet, rubbing furiously where the tanned hand had passed through her.
"Flora!" Bloom screeched. "What the-"
The princess never got to finish her sentence. Her eyes had landed on the person that Flora had handed the cup to.
Herself.
She stumbled backwards, her hand clenched tightly into a fist at her side.
What. The. Dragon. What was going on here!?
"What's going on, Bloom?" Bloom let out a shriek, and spun to face the new voice.
Nick.
He didn't belong here.
What was he doing at Alfea?
"Thanks, Flo," the Bloom on the couch mumbled, sadness clearly laced in her voice. Bloom spun back to face the pink couch. She took a hard look at the red haired fairy sitting on the couch. Her red hair hung down to her lower back, allowing it to fall in waves. Bloom's hand instantly went up to touch her own hair, which she knew was missing.
"Bloom!?" Nick said, force coming into his voice. "Who is that?"
"I-I-"
"Oh, no problem, sweetie. Hot cocoa always makes everyone feel better." She patted her on the shoulder and came to sit down beside her. "The others should be back soon. Then we can talk?"
"I don't want to talk," the Bloom on the couch muttered. She placed the cup on the coffee table and fell backwards into the couch.
"Where are we?!" Nick questioned her again. Bloom wasn't paying any more attention to her brother. She couldn't. She was reveling in the fact that she was in her dorm, with Flora. This was her normal. This was the life she wanted.
"Well, we should. It is always helpful to talk about our feelings, no matter what." The door to the dorm opened.
"Bloom, what the Dragon?!" Nick's voice snarled. Still, Bloom didn't pay attention to the prince.
Stella, Musa, Aisha, and Tecna all walked in. They each held items in their hands; pizzas, soda, popcorn, movies, and ice cream.
"We brought snacks!" Stella sang, holding a box of pizza up and dropping in on the coffee table.
Nick let out a scream and lunged at Bloom, breaking her concentration on the girls in front of her. The momentum Nick carried sent Bloom flying. Both of them tumbled to the floor, screaming.
"HELP!" Bloom cried, looking at her friends that were having a conversation a few feet away. They didn't even look in her direction. "HELP!" she called again.
"You think this is funny!?" Nick yelled. He let out a scream in frustration. "DO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY!?"
"Nick, stop!" Bloom begged, tears running down her face. "I want to see my friends!" Nick still hung over top of Bloom, anger in his eyes. "Let go of me! Please!"
"Your friends?" he snarled, his eyes flashing. "You don't think I don't want to see her, too!?"
"Wha-"
"What are you doing!?" he asked again. Tears were building up at the corners of his eyes, but he furiously blinked them away. "What the Dragon!?" he screamed in anguish.
Just as soon as Bloom was brought into her dorm, she was back out of it. She sat, too stunned to move, in the co-pilot chair. Her knuckles were white from gripping the armrest so hard and her heart pounded in her chest.
Not only was her heart racing, but it was also hurting. She missed her friends, especially since her life had been torn apart. She needed her friends; they were like her family. Now that both of her actual families were gone, she needed them more than ever.
"What the Dragon!?" Nick snarled. He stood up from his pilot seat and began to pace around the cabin like a caged animal. He looked beyond angry. He looked like he would kill.
Bloom swallowed hard – of course he wouldn't kill. No. Especially not her. She was his sister, apparently. Just a few moments ago, he was looking at her with such intense love. He couldn't turn around and… murder her…
Could he?
She shook her head. What stupid thoughts.
"I am just as confused as you are, Nick," Bloom said. "I have no idea what that was."
"It was a memory," he growled, not even bothering to look in her direction. "One that you are reliving inside your head. You are neither here nor there, but somewhere in-between. I was there, too, apparently. That's never happened to me before." He chuckled dryly, but Bloom could tell it was forced.
"That's why they didn't see or hear us!" Bloom gathered. Nick's head fell into his hands, but he kept pacing. His fingers dug into his scalp, bunching up handfuls of his flame red hair.
"Yes, Bloom, that is why." He stopped walking and pressed his back up against the wall. "Oh, Dragon, why is this happening," he asked weakly. The wall pressed against his back guided him to the floor when his legs gave out from under him.
"Nick?" Bloom questioned, standing up and taking a step closer to him. She was concerned for him, even though his actions earlier frightened her. Even though she was wary, she could still feel a flame flickering inside of her, reminding her of who he was. He was her brother, even if it was from another universe.
"Just… don't," he muttered. Bloom's heart skipped a beat as she realized he was pushing her out.
Of course. Just when she was beginning to trust him, he shuts her out.
Of course, just when she was beginning to trust him, he had to yell at her.
She looked further inside.
Yes, the flame was still there.
This was her brother, even though she struggled to accept it.
"No!" Bloom said forcefully, striding to sit beside him. "What was that all about? Why were you yelling at me? You need to tell me."
"You know why," Nick growled again. Bloom's heart rate increased. He sounded like a wild animal due to his anger.
"No, I don't, actually. I don't believe I deserve to be treated like that, either!" Bloom snapped back, crossing her arms over her chest. Nick peered out from under his hands, showing is blood red eyes to Bloom. The palms of his hands and his cheeks were sparking from the cabin lights. Tears. "What's wrong!?" Bloom questioned.
"You know why!" Nick sobbed, his head falling back against the wall.
His tears poured down his cheeks and he made no attempt to cover it. Bloom could see his pain. His tears kept pouring, his mouth was open wide to try and regain his breath, his whole body trembled.
Bloom lightly touched his shoulder, remembering how he comforted her just moments ago. Now that their roles were reversed, Bloom was going to make sure that she did her duty as an older sister.
"Nick, I already said that I don't know why you're so upset." She sighed and closed her eyes. "I- I'm your sister. You can tell me." Her heart pounded in her chest as those words tumbled out of her mouth. Her eyes widened as she came to realize what she said.
Sister?
Those words came out of her mouth so naturally. They flowed off her tongue like she was always meant to speak them.
Maybe she was.
"I-" Nick's voice broke. Bloom's heart lurched at how weak and vulnerable he looked. Earlier, he looked like a warrior. Now, he looked like a lost child. "I can't see her. Not so soon. You know that."
"What?"
"I loved her, despite our situation. Somehow, against all of the odds, we fell for each other." Nick leaned into his hands again, his body shaking with silent sobs. A moment passed of silence. "Then, fate caught up," Nick mumbled between his sobs.
"What?" Bloom repeated again. She was confused. What had happened to her poor brother? What would destroy someone so much? Nick looked like he was being torn apart from the inside.
"She died. None of my love – none of my power – could save her." Bloom's heart dropped. Who was he talking about? What had brought this on? Was it something she said? "I should have been there for her more! She needed a friend, and I failed her!" His haunted eyes opened to look at Bloom.
Bloom swallowed hard. It looked as if she was looking into the eyes of a dead man, not the eyes of her brother. They both shared the same eyes, yet she didn't recognize them at this moment. They were too broken.
"Nick-"
"I could have saved her. ME! She needed me! She needed me!" He sobbed harder.
"Who?" Bloom questioned, clearly confused. Nick glared at Bloom. The princess felt chilled to the core looking at these dead, haunted eyes. It was almost like he could see into her soul.
"You know!" Nick sobbed. Bloom shook her head, her palms sweating in anticipation. She rubbed them on her bare legs and licked her lips.
"No. No, I don't, Nikolaos." The use of his full name caught his attention. Bloom caught his eyes with her, holding their stare as she spoke, despite the tortured look. "Tell me!" she insisted. "Who is dead?" In that moment, Nick's eyes looked even more tortured.
"I-I-"
"Who is dead, Nikolaos?" He licked his lips. His eyes went unblinking, staring deeply into hers. Finally, he opened his mouth.
"Aisha."
A/N: Another chapter down! Once again, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave questions in a review/PM me. I will respond as soon as I get a chance to! It seems like I have troubles accessing my reviews from the last chapter, so expect a delay in responses for those. I have read your reviews through email. Thank you so much for your kind comments! They make me so happy.
As I mentioned last chapter, I am sorry for any writing convention errors. It has been a long time since I have written, so the flow/characterization/spelling/grammar might not be as good as it was before. I'll work on improving. Leave in the reviews if there is an area you notice I should spend lots of time working on.
I love reviews so much. The ones from the last chapter made me super happy, and, due to the overwhelming positive response I got, I decided to publish this chapter earlier than I originally planned. Like I mentioned last chapter, I end up updating faster when I get encouragement in reviews!
It doesn't take too long to let me know what you thought of while reading. I accept any guest/anonymous reviews, but I will only be able to respond to the reviews from the people with accounts! If you are reading this story, let me know that you are and what you thought! I love seeing who is in my audience.
And a note on the actual chapter - all will be explained soon. Is Nick right when he admits Aisha died, or is he mistaken? Let me know what you think!
Thanks for your continued support! Hopefully I'll be able to read the reviews on the website soon so I'll be able to respond!
Love,
Paw
