Rodney made his way to the visitor area inside the school. The floor was made of green colored marble and the ceiling was out of reach. Looking up, he saw that there was a mural of a star and in the middle of it was the sun with a smiling face. It looked creepy but amazing st the same time.

He noticed the reception desk near the window and the long line protruding from it. Many robots with with their suitcases stood there waiting. With either bored expressions or irritated ones. Most were talking amongst themselves. Wether they were friends or not.

In the waiting area were other bots who had seemed to be waiting there longer than he was. Rodney was in awe with how amazing they looked. His eyes widened when he saw cyborgs. He nearly squealed with excitement.

Rodney walked through the aisle of students either sleeping, playing games on their devices, reading or whatever else they were doing. He couldn't find a seat in the sea of people. There was an empty space he spotted near the window and opted to taking refuge there until he was called.

"Over here," he heard someone yell. "You with the blue suitcase!"

Rodney paused and looked around until she saw a female robot waving at him. She pointed to an extra seat next to her and he headed towards her.

"Thank you," he smiled. "I'm guessing you're new here?"

"Yeah," she nodded. "I transferred here from my old school. I was iffy at first but my mom told me to try it out. Oh, I'm Jenny Wakeman by the way. Or known as X-j9."

Rodney rose a hand to shake hers but retracted his hand. He was a little nervous. She was pretty, friendly and she acted as if they knew each other for years. Not that he minded. In fact, he liked that feeling. It made him feel less anxious than he was when he first entered.

He realized he was sitting there gawking at her and rose his hand with confidence. Jenny shook his hand with a firm grip.

"Whoa," Rodney chuckled. "Nice grip, Jenny. I'm Rodney by the way. Rodney Copperbottom."

Jenny giggled. Rodney rose an eyebrow out of curiosity. "Copperbottom? That doesn't sound pleasant."

His cheeks heated up with embarrassment. "Did you just-"

He shook his head waving off the comment. It was a great joke and that was something he's never heard. A bit on the naughty side but he liked it. Unless he's taking it a whole other way.

"So you don't have a true name or something?" Jenny asked.

"Uh, well," Rodney shrugged. "Not really. At least I don't think so. How long have you been waiting here?"

"See, I arrived last night so I was with the few who slept here over night. But the majority of you who came here by the bus - the early arrival - were waiting here for two hours now."

"So long?" Rodney looked around again.

"Yeah," she answered. "The reception here, by the looks of it suck. But from a tidbit I've gotten, are that we need to take a written application test to prove we are worth being here."

"Wait WHAT?" Rodney said in shock. He could already feel his heart racing in anticipation. What if he failed? He would be devastated! This was his only hope of being recognized around the world!

"Hey, sh!" Jenny rested a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "It's okay. It's mostly a personality test of sorts. Then you do some hands on stuff."

"Like building things?" He asked. "If so, I am pretty handy not to brag!"

"You got this in the bag, Copperbottom," Jenny said.

"Rodney is fine," he said. "So do we have to wait until the reception is clear?"

"That'll take forever!" A voice piped up.

Rodney and Jenny turned around to see a female robot. She gestured for everyone to get up. Waves of signs of relief washed through the room. She clasped her hands together.

"I am Glados." She greeted. "Your tour guide for the day. What I will be doing is giving you a brief run through of the school layout, telling you about the curriculum and setting you up for the application test. Please hold your questions until after the tour."

She first led them to the west wing which was located right next to the lobby. Through the large doors. The west wing were more for math and science related subjects. Even astronomy was a course. Down the long hall was the east wing. The hands on section.

Rodney was in heaven. Hearing the metallic sound of things being cut and welded together. He practically glued himself to the window, staring at the crafts his competitors were building. Jenny had to peel him away from the window to rejoin the group. But the two lagged behind a bit.

"This place is beautiful," he sighed. "I can't wait to actually start - after the test of course."

"Same here, I guess," Jenny replied.

"You guess? What do you mean by that?" Rodney asked.

"Mostly self doubt and not much hope I'll get accepted." Jenny sighed. "I mean, look at this place, Copper - I mean - Rodney."

"Don't give up when you just started," he smiled. "You'll be fine. I know it. Come on, let's catch up with the group."

"Alright," Jenny smiled.

The two walked faster to catch up before they headed to the south wing.
