Troublesome Requests

Greetings readers, with the last chapter, I received a very disconcerting message. I welcome all feedback, good and bad, but if you have a criticism I would prefer it to be constructive. To quote the message that spurred this announcement, saying that my writing is, "Stupid Sh*t" that made you want to throw your phone against the wall, doesn't help me in anyway.

What is so stupid about the plot to my story? What would make it better? Why did it upset you so much? By simply answering these questions in your review/private message, you are opening a window for conversation and allow me to understand what is wrong. I also acknowledge that my story ideas aren't for everyone, but I'd appreciate it if you as the reader who have issues or questions to contact me so we can talk about it, and from there you can write a review good, bad, or neutral.

Lastly, I'll be posting two or three more chapters, before this story is officially over. PM me if you have any suggestions for my next story. I have a list of shows and such on my profile. Which spurs me to announce that I am now taking requests for one-shots. Information is also on my profile. As always enjoy!

Izaya growled, as he watched Shizuo walk around Mercy's apartment. He had meant to turn the cameras off months ago, but something prevented him from doing so. Maybe it was his feelings for her haven't changed –and he felt as though he needed to ensure her safety still- or it could have been too much work to disconnect them. Either way, it didn't help the fact that he was watching his enemy spend time with Mercy.

"What's wrong Izaya?" Namie questioned, as she shelved some of his books.

"Nothing," he snapped, causing the brunette to flinch a bit.

'Calm down Izaya, you can't let this bother you so much.' Izaya thought, as he watched his secretary leave the room. Sooner or later he would have to apologize to her, or maybe not, either way she'll still be upset with him. Work didn't seem as much fun at the moment, now that he knew Shizu-chan was taking his place in Mercy's heart. After two hours of switching from work to Mercy's security cameras, Izaya ended up walking around the city to clear his head.

'I need to turn off those damn cameras.' He thought, as he watched the young lovers of Ikebukuro walk around. 'They are affecting everything I worked so hard on, and I can't' let that happen.' His phone played, The Invisible Wall, telling him Mercy was calling. A slight twinge of excitement and panic consumed him, before he answered his phone.

"Hello?" He questioned in a calm manner.

"Hi Izaya, how are you doing?"

"I am well thank you, what can I help you with my dear?"

Mercy sighed on the other end of the receiver, before answering his question. Izaya almost felt bad for both the question and the way he asked it.

"Well, you see, Izaya, I'm moving, and I was wondering if you could deactivate the cameras."

Her voice sounded weak, almost as if she didn't want him to leave her, or maybe that was his imagination. Hearing her like this sent excited chills throughout his body. She still cared for him, and that was all he could ask for…. well he could ask for so much more, but for now he would settle for her still caring.

"I was just about to call you about that." His fox like smile returned to his face. "When would you like me to come over?"

"Any day this week would be perfect, but tomorrow would work the best."

"Then I will be over tomorrow afternoon."

"Thank you Izaya."

Izaya practically skipped home, he got what he wished for. His work ethic will return to normal, once he takes down those damned cameras, and he gets to see Mercy before she leaves again. Now, all he has to do is keep busy till tomorrow, which seems like an easy task.

Kanra Enters Chat Room.

Chi Enters Chat Room.

Kanra: Chi, it's been a while…

Chi: It has, how have you been?

Izaya smiled to himself as he looked at his screen. The young lady he was speaking to now, has been going through a troublesome time for the past year and a half. Her grandmother, had become deathly ill, and she was forced to take care of the elderly woman.

Kanra: I'm surviving for the most part; Things are getting hard…. How about you?

Chi: My grandmother died yesterday….

'Good timing old lady,' Izaya found himself thinking.

Kanra: I'm so sorry….do you want to talk about it?

It was bait. He needed this girl to confide in him, he needed the excitement of an attempted suicide. He needed a diversion from his mundane life. He craved the irrational actions that only a human could do.

Chi: Yes, I need to talk.

'Got her,' Izaya celebrated momentarily.

Kanra: I'm here to listen….so go on.

Chi: The night before, my grandfather said he thought this was her time, and that I should call the family together, so we each could say good-bye. I did as he asked, and within an hour, the entire family was here, and surrounding her. She went through the normal passing stages. Her breathing was labored and then she made this gurgling sound...I know I wished she would die soon, but it's so hard not having her. I no longer have my best friend or my only supporter. I feel as though I have no motivation anymore. Kanra, I'm so lost right now.

Izaya celebrated internally again, everything was working out in favor. He had the perfect remark that would send her into a downwards spiral. He just needed to find the perfect time to say it.

Kanra: What do you mean by, "I have no motivation anymore"?

Chi: I don't really want to live any longer… I've lost my motivation to live.

'Bingo,' Instantly Izaya's hands danced around the keys. She had played perfectly into his hands, he almost felt bad for what was about to happen to her.

Kanra: I'm sorry, but you are a strong girl, and your nana wouldn't want you to think such thoughts. She loved you dearly, and that's all that matters.

'What the hell!' Izaya thought looking at what he had typed. 'Who the hell, how the….Damn Mercy,' He growled at the screen. His damned ex, had objected to any form of needless death, and now his body was rebelling against everything he stood for. His brow twitched uncontrollably, as he re-read his last comment. He had the perfect thing to say to push her over the edge, and now, now it was ruined. Was this his bodies way of saying there is no moving past Mercedes Lee Sado? No there is always a way past emotions, one just needed to push hard enough. Whatever the reason his body ruined his fun, it didn't matter now. He would let this incident slide without further contemplation. After all there will be more chances to ruin others' lives.

Chi: Thank you Kanra, you are the best!

Kanra: You're welcome, hope things go smoothly for you now.

Kanra Left Chat room.

Suddenly, Izaya couldn't wait till Mercedes was out of Ikebukuro. Maybe with all traces of her gone, his old habits would come back around.

He pressed the ivory colored doorbell as he breathed out. She was finally going to stop plaguing his life, and he could again be regular Izaya Orihara again. It took a moment, but the door opened, revealing a half-wet Mercedes. Izaya couldn't help but look all the way down her bare shoulders, towel covered torso, and bare legs.

Mercy huffed slightly, as she pushed her hair towel out of her face. "Thank you so much Izaya for doing this." She sighed, placing a small smile on her face. "I'll be out in a second, as you can see I still need to get dressed. Please get comfortable."

"No rush." He muttered, closing the door with his foot.

Her apartment looked different. Boxes sat neatly in the living room; many were labeled books, movies, dishes, and clothes. Even her couches seem to say 'I'm leaving.'

"I'm going to get to work." Izaya partially yelled, as he looked at the first camera.

"Ok, thanks again."

As Izaya started to take the camera out, he glanced over to Mercy's room. Her door was cracked; leaving just enough room, for him to see her pulling a shirt over her head. The temptation to watch her dress took over, making him stop what he was doing. For a moment, his eyes followed the light airy fabric dance down her body, until they reached stomach. She didn't show much, but the baby bump called for his attention. A side from that major difference, her body seemed to be the same. Letting her distract him one last time didn't seem like a bad idea, until her front door flew open.

"Coming in Mercy," Shizuo's voice called from the front door.

'Damn it,' Izaya thought, as he started to work again.

"Hey Shizuo." Mercy called out from her room. "I'll be out in a second."

Both men glared at each other, as Izaya kept working. Shizuo glanced at Mercedes bedroom door, forcing a small chuckle from Izaya. Shizu-chan had to have noticed the cracked door, and he had to have known what Izaya was up to just before he barged into the house. Shizuo's actions confirmed Izaya's thoughts, by closing the door fully, and sitting in the love seat nearest it.

"What are you doing here?" Shizuo growled, glaring at the flea before him.

"I think It's perfectly clear, Shi….Zu… -chan." Izaya held onto each syllable as if it were its own word. "What about you, why are you here?"

"I don't see how that's any of your business."

"Still only a friend Shizu-chan?" Izaya taunted, "Pity you can't move past that stage. She's quite a ride."

The loveseat Shizuo was sitting on whizzed past Izaya's head, and into the book shelf next to him. Books tumbled from the broken shelved and onto the floor, making quite the racquet. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to taunt the angry bull in such close quarters after all, but Izaya had to find a way past his own annoyance.

"Shizuo," Mercy's voice rang clear as day through the room.

Both men glanced to her opened door, to see her standing there still half naked. Izaya smirked, trying desperately not to undress her with his eyes. On the other hand, Shizuo looked away hiding his blushing features from the girl.

"Can you help me," she sighed. "I'm having difficulties getting dressed.

Shizuo nodded quietly, as he strolled towards her room. Izaya's glare at the blond male before his eyes met with Mercedes curious ones. He swallowed hard, and continued his work once he was able to tear his gaze from hers. She and Shizuo disappeared behind the door. His fingers worked quickly, almost tearing the cameras out of the walls as he waited for any reappearance of Mercy. Low murmurs echoed through the now quiet room, leaving Izaya to wonder what was truly being said. Izaya climbed down his ladder, before moving onto the next camera, by the time Shizuo came from the room.

"Thanks, Shizuo I really appreciate you doing this." Mercedes breathed, walking the blond to the front door.

"Are you sure you'll be ok, being alone with him?"

Both Izaya and Mercy knew Shizuo meant to whisper, but they both dismissed the discomfort. Mercy lightly touched the blonds shoulder, as an amused smile kissed her lips. Izaya on the other hand, chuckled to himself thinking of all the ways he could mess with Mercy while Shizuo was gone. Many of which boarded on his hidden desire.

"Yes, I will be fine." She chuckled, "I'll be fine, now I'll see you when you get back."

The blond nodded sending Izaya a death glare, before leaving.

"I thought he'd never leave." Izaya sighed, sliding down from the ceilings height. "I've taken down most of the camera's."

"Thanks again, I know how….ah….. awkward all of this is." Her fingers danced across the back of her neck.

"I've been meaning to do it anyways." He breathed, now approaching the silver haired girl.

Mercy swallowed hard, as her ex came only a few inches away, their eyes locked. Izaya dropped his heated stare to her stomach, many questions dancing through his mind. She didn't look pregnant, or at least, not too pregnant. His fingers lifted from his hip, lightly touching her slight baby bump, drawing a gasp like sound from his companion. Mercedes half smiled, watching as Izaya took in the information given to him. His child almost screaming that he or she was here, kicking against his hand.

"How far along are you?" Izaya breathed too quietly.

"Twenty-one weeks, Shizuo and the others know the sex of the baby." She smiled, gently taking Izaya's hand into both of hers. "I'm supposed to gain some weight, but let's give you a better feel."

With that said, Mercedes pulled his chilled hands under her floral shirt making him touch her warm flesh. He could now better feel the light kicking of the child, an emotional gasp leaving his lips when their child rolled over. This was real, and he knew it for sure now. They stood like that for a long while, taking in each-others presence, until Izaya's phone rang.

"I need to take this." He breathed, pull away as if being burned by her flesh.

Mercy nodded, shifting her shirt back to where it should be, and walking back to her bed room. There was more than enough work for her to mess with, and shift through the odd fluttering feeling she was having. Her fingers made quick work of the clothes in her closet, mostly being business attires for meeting higher up clients. Folding each article of cloth and placing it neatly into a box, before moving on to the next. It wasn't until her bedroom door squeaked close that she noticed Izaya's presence.

"Oh, you scared me." Mercy breathed, picking up the pin striped pencil skirt she'd dropped. "Is that the last camera?"

"Yes, and then you'll be out of my hair forever." Izaya half chuckled.

"I guess that's best for all of us." She remarked, going back to folding clothes.

Though she could feel her heart sink at his words, Mercy knew that this was for the best. Her eyes darted over the dark-haired informant, watching as he set up the ladder and did his work. What on this earth was going to happen when she left? Ikebukuro had Izaya before she did, she knew that, but the man with a talent for chaos could easily destroy everything around him. Mercy shook her head, as if trying to shove the idea from her thoughts, if Ikebukuro could survive god knows how many years before her it'll survive the next few yet.

"I'm going to get something to drink, would you like anything?" She asked, pushing herself to her feet.

"Nope, I'm all done here."

Mercy half smiled, watching as Izaya gathered his supplies. Her apartment now feeling just a little too empty for her, but when one moves wasn't that a normal reaction? Watching as the area one felt so much about, slowly empty out as their belongings are assigned boxes, until it's nothing but an empty shell. Mercedes snapped from her daze, when her eyes landed on Izaya's dark orbs.

"I'll walk you out," she breathed, opening her bedroom door. "Thanks so much for doing this for me with such short notice."

"Eat more nuts and dried fruits." He purred, turning to look at her when they reached the opening of her front door. "They are healthy ways of gaining weight." He clarified, watching as confusion flickered to her features.

"Thanks, stay happy."

Mercy leaned forward going to hug him, whilst his fingers pushed out for a handshake stopping her progression. It was formal, more formal than she though it should be, considering their relationship before. Considering to his wishes, she placed her soft hand into his, ending the conversation with a polite snap of the wrists.
