Star Viewing

"What are you two doing?" Luffy suddenly appeared in Shion and Nami's visions.

"We're discussing the constellations." Shion said

"Conte..what?" Luffy blinked at them.

"Constellations." Nami explained.

"Sounds interesting." Luffy turned and yelled out. "HEY SHION AND NAMI ARE DISCUSSING CONSTIPATION... EVERYONE ON DECK!"

"THAT'S CONSTELLATIONS DUMBASS!" Nami's shout followed. Shion was too busy holding her sides in laughter. "AS IN PATTERNS IN THE STARS!" Nami glared at her friend. "You are not helping." Which just made her laugh harder.

The crew started to appear, "Oi! What's with all the yelling?" Zoro asked with a yawn.

"Stars." Nami answered quickly before Luffy could mispronounce again.

"What's so special about stars?"

Shion sat up, "I'll show you...HEY FRANKY! TURN THE LIGHTS OFF!"

"SUPER!" came Franky's voice and the Sunny went dark.

"And how are we supposed to see anything?" Luffy asked.

"Like this." Shion pulled him down, "Now look up." Without the light of the ship the night sky had turned even more brilliant.

Luffy made a sound in awe.

Chopper looked up, "Amazing." The reindeer said.

"You know it actually kind of is." Usopp sat down.

Franky and Robin joined them.

Sanji came out of the galley to see the crew laying on deck staring up. "What is going on? What happened to all the lights"

"Stars." Franky answered with a grin.

"Cook-san...come join us." Robin invited. Seeing no reason to turn the invitation down Sanji joined them.

"What about the stars?"

Luffy snickered, reaching a rubber hand up to yank the cook off his feet making him lie down.

"You rubber bastard..." Sanji started only to have his face grabbed and turned to the sky. Sanji trailed off. Beautiful.

The crew lay back silently for a time, watching the night sky in wonder. "So Shion." Brooke asked.

"What does each one mean?"

"What's what mean?" Zoro asked

"The Constellations." Brooke answered.

"Constellations?"

"Patterns in the sky Moss Head." Sanji informed him.

"No fighting right now." Luffy sang out to them.

Shion giggled. "Well where to start..." She looked around. "There...see those three." she pointed.

"Forming the pattern like this." Shion drew in the air. "Those are the Three Sisters, they represent Life, from birth to death and then to afterlife. That's why the middle one is duller." She pointed to another.

"Nami, you'll like this one." She drew another sign. "The Navigator, the sign of the Course Forger is right over there. The Six over Zoro are the Lion, a symbol for Strength and Determination. Those 4 over Luffy are the Trickster, the one who is uncontrollable by Fate." With each on she drew a sign.

"Or the one who makes the future unpredictable. I have heard it both ways" Robin added. "I think it's a good sign for your Captain."

That earned several snickers. "I like it." Luffy chuckled

"Is there one over me?" Chopper asked.

"No but over there, to left of the Navigator is the Water Maiden. Robin you could probably explain it better then me why that suits our Doctor."

"In many cultures water is associated with Healers and medicine." Robin explained. "The words for 'Doctor' in some old languages have the word or symbol for water in them when written down. And in many myths Healing was often associated with women."

"What about me?" Usopp was next.

"Or me." Brooke followed. Shion sat up, "I don't see them right now but they should be somewhere ahead of our position so we might see them later. Usopp I think you'd be the Hunter."

"Sounds brave."

"Actually he's a bit of a coward." That earned giggles and chuckles from the crew.

"Oi!" Usopp snapped

Shion laughed. "But only because he is very pragmatic." Shion clarified. "The Hunter symbolizes the Protector. He has traits that some may call cowardice, such as preferring to avoid a conflict when others may rashly forge ahead."

"But only when he believes it is in the best interest to do so. He is in fact he is the voice of reason and caution but when it comes to something important...he is a bravest of all." Robin nodded. Usopp glowed, grinning.

Shion lay back down. "I think you Brooke, would be the Bard. The one who brings merriment, happiness and togetherness. If I see them later I will point them out to you two. Franky, you would be the Engineer, the Symbol of the Designer and the Builder."

"In some myths the Engineer is mocked for being radical and seemingly a madman." Robin again informed them. "In other myths he is the Architect and Builder of the World. Either way he is always depicted as a genius." She looked over to Franky, blue eyes twinkling at him.

"Super!" Franky laughed, reaching out to take the archaeologists hand.

Shion nodded. "I don't see him out either but it's early yet. He usually only appears around dawn and he looks like this." She drew a symbol of eight points.

"Where's Sanji and Robin?" Luffy asked

"Sanji would be over there," Shion pointed to the far right. "The New Mother." She traced 5 stars.

"Always knew you were a woman at heart Shit Cook." Zoro snickered before his breath rushed out from the thump of a boot on his chest.

"It's a symbol of the Provider" Shion was very quick to add before a fight could break out.

"The one who takes watches over the family." Robin mused. "I can see why you'd associate that with Sanji. As our Chef it is his duty to take care of our dietary needs much like a mother would for her children. The New Mother is also often associated with very caring individuals as well as advice givers and protectors of the home. They are also often associated with the backbone of a family, providing support to the Head of the House. Given Cook-san's personality, I think it very suiting."

"Still a woman." Zoro snickered, earning himself another sharp kick to the ribs, this one he blocked. Sanji cursed at his, pulling his leg away.

"Robin would be the Knowledge Keeper. She's over there." Shion again changed subjects. "That one is a bit self explanatory I think."

Several nods followed that.

"Which one would you be Shion?" Nami asked. Shion was quiet.

"You know... I never really thought about it." She laughed. "I have no idea."

"Not even a tiny one?" Chopper looked at her.

"Come on you have to have some idea." Usopp urged her.

"I really don't."

"Well that's no fun." Luffy scowled at her. "You have to choose one right now!"

"Now?" Shion quirked an eyebrow at him.

"Yes, now...Captains orders. I want to hear what it is."

It was Robin that answered. "The Scales." She pointed to 5 stars in the shape of a scale. "The Balancer.

The one who rounds out a group, through wisdom or action. Someone who is both order and chaos"

"You think so?" Shion asked.

"Sounds about right" Zoro said.

Sanji reached out and took her hand "Robin-chwan has a point."

"The Scales huh." Luffy got his thinking face on. "I like it" he snickered. "Shion is our Balancer"

"You guys are going to make be blush" Shion laughed "but we can't forget the most important member of our crew. The Sunny himself"

"What would the Sunny be?"

"The Great Ship." Shion pointed right where they were laying. " the transporter. It's course in infinite, steady and true. "

"The symbol of discovery and adventure." Robin finished

"That's our Sunny " Franky agreed.

Shion went into several others. The crew eventually falling asleep under the watchful eyes of the stars.
