Chapter 7: Getting In

Naruto's P.O.V.

After losing a fourth game against Sasuke, Sakura bursts in the room with bags in her arms and a big, evil smile directed at me. "Naruto~ I got you something~ "

I swallow in fear. "What did you get?"

"Clothes!"

I jump up and run to the window, but Sakura catches my arm and giggles. "Don't be like that, Naruto! It'll be fun!"

Pouting, I look to Sasuke for help. No help there. I can just feel the amusement from here. Giving in, I let Sakura drag me away from the window. She goes through the bags and pulls out several outfits. "I'm only gonna be here for ONE night!" I exclaim, my eyes wide.

She shrugs her shoulders. "I couldn't decide which one so I just got them all. Besides, your wardrobe needs some updating anyway."

"Hey! What's wrong with my clothes?"

Sakura just ignores the question and shoves a pair of black jeans and an orange v-neck shirt into my arms. "Now try these on."

I narrow my eyes at her. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

She just giggles and shoos me. I go to the bathroom and change. Looking into the mirror, I frown. These clothes may not be comfortable, but I admit, they do look good. I try slicking my hair back, but it springs back into the air. I try with a little bit of water, but it doesn't work. I grunt and frown. Sakura knocks on the door. "Come on Naruto! I'm sure it's not that bad!"

I take a deep breath and stare into the mirror. Let's do this! I walk out of the bathroom and Sakura gasps then stares. I blink and wave a hand in front of her face. "Sakura? Are you okay?"

A whispered, "Wow," comes from behind Sakura.

I look over and see Sasuke's face turn pink and he looks away quickly. Did he just-? About me? My face turns pink too and I rub the back of my head, ruffling my hair. Sakura shakes the shock away and smiles big. "Great! It fits! Now put on these," she says as she shoves new shoes into my hands and turns around, walking away.

I put on the shoes and stand up with a groan. "Do I really have to do this?" I ask Kakashi-sensei. His eye crinkles in an eye smile. "I get it. That means yes."

Sakura grabs my arm and pulls me to the door of the inn room, shoving me. "Now you don't have much time. It's dark out, they should be open now. Have a good night! Don't forget to check in!"

The door slams behind me and I frown. Okay. This is fine. No prep time is fine. I work with this all the time. I force myself to walk. Okay, this is alright. Nothing's wrong yet. Crap! I'm here already? How did that happen! I swallow and stare at the flashing sun, wishing I didn't have to do this. I've never been gay before. I step through the door and get blasted with smoke and deafeningly loud rock music and the smell of strong alcohol. With three of my senses unavailable to me, I struggle through the crowd and get knocked into several people on my way to the bar. Why me?

I get pushed into a tall man with long red hair and he turns around. "I'm sorry," I say, holding my hands up, then get knocked again and pushed into him again. He laughs and pulls me closer to him as he walks. I trip over our feet as I try to keep up with him with my head squeezed to his chest. "Where are we going? Let go of me!"

The man lets go of my head and I realize it's not as crowded over here by the corner. He smiles and leans against the wall. "I'm sorry. You looked like you were getting tossed around and I wanted to help. You're too cute to get all bruised up."

My face reddens in embarrassment. "I'm not cute."

The man pokes my nose and chuckles. "That right there is what I'm talking about. Your nose scrunched up in the most adorable way." My face get hotter and I cough a little and look to the side. I don't know how to deal with this. The man laughs. "My name is Haro. Yours? And don't worry about last names. It's all about anonymity here."

"Naruto," I say, starting to feel more at ease.

"You just keep getting cuter," Haro says as he leans closer to me and holds my chin as he stares into my eyes with his brown ones. "Say, do you need a place to stay tonight?"

I swallow and force my gaze from him. "What do you mean?"

He lets go of my face and ruffles my hair. "No need to be nervous. I'm not asking you to sleep with a Son. I'm just asking if you want to borrow a room for the night."

"A Son?"

Haro smiles. "Are you not familiar with the term? You must really be new around these parts then." He looks around and then leans closer. "I can trust you right?" I nod quickly. This might help with the mission! He puts his arm around my shoulders. "The Neon Sun is a bar, but it's not just a bar. There's a hallway behind the bar that leads to several rooms where men live and get paid for special services... Do you get what I'm saying?" I nod again. "Anyway, these men are called the Neon Sons, not the same as the bar name."

"Oh. That makes sense."

He uses the arm around my shoulders to pull my face to his and he kisses me. I flounder and pull back, feeling dizzy and a little hot. I was NOT expecting that! I hit his arm away. Haro laughs and holds his hands up. "I'm sorry. You are so adorable. I had to. Come on, stay here tonight. Maybe tomorrow we can talk about you getting a job."

"I don't kno-"

"It's fine. We have an extra room and I promise it's nice."

Haro hugs me close to him and walks me behind the bar past a couple of focused men in uniforms. Once we get to the hallway, I try to escape, but he holds tight and drags me left down the hall to the second to last room and opens it. He pulls me closer to his face again, but I duck under his arm. "Would you stop doing that?"

The red-haired man chuckles and pokes my nose again. "You learn fast. I like you. Goodnight. We'll talk in the morning."

I'm left alone in the hallway, confused. What the hell just happened? I dazedly walk into the room and close the door. Woah! This room IS nice! The walls are a soft cream color with white trim and a white ceiling. I walk over the hardwood floor to the bed with a brown wooden headboard and an orange blanket and like seven white pillows. I sit down on the bed and look around. There's a wooden dresser and a night table with a single book and a lamp beside the bed. On one side of the room are two doors, I'm assuming one to a closet and the other to a bathroom. Then I start to realize that there's not a big window in this room like there is in my bedroom at home. There is only a medium rectangle window on it's side above the bed, barely big enough for someone to climb through.

I gasp. Oh yeah! I'm supposed to check in with the others! I jump off the bed and start climbing the wall when someone knocks on the door. I plop down onto my butt on the bed right as Haro walks in with a tray of food. My stomach growls and I smile as I stand up. Haro sets the tray down as I start stuffing the steak strips in my mouth. When I look up to thank him, he uses a finger to wipe some barbeque sauce off my chin and licks it. "I said I'd talk to you about it tomorrow, but you really intrigue me and I couldn't wait. Would you consider working here?"

I wipe my mouth with an arm and nervously look at him. "I-I'm, uh..."

His eyes widen and then he smiles differently than he normally does. "Could it be that the reason you're hesitating is that you're a virgin?"

My face heats up and I frown. "That's none of your business!"

He laughs. "So you are. Damn, you are the cutest thing! Was I your first kiss?"

I rise my chin and frown. "No. I've kissed before!" Then my chin lowers. "It was kind of an accident. Both times actually..."

"Both times? Stop. Please stop. You're too much."

Frowning, I cross my arms. Haro places an arm around my shoulders. "But seriously, being a virgin wouldn't be a problem. If you accept the terms, I'll make sure your first is gentle and Sons keep every penny they earn. I pay men with chakra control to guard the hallway so the Sons are protected. And Sons never pay rent. So what do you say?"

My eyebrows furrow as something occurs to me. "Wait. You're the owner of the Neon Sun?"

Haro laughs heartily and kisses my forehead. "Please join our little family."

I shrug. "I guess." He hugs me tight. "Hey! Can you stop doing that!"

The redhead pulls away and picks up the food tray as he smiles brightly. "I can only try," he says as he winks and leaves.

Once the door is closed, I look to the window. I can't sneak out when I can't be sure no one else will walk in. I close my eyes as I focus and make a clone, sending him out the window and to the inn.

Sasuke's P.O.V.

Kakashi and Sakura play cards as they wait. As the night gets later, I start getting nervous. My leg starts slightly bouncing as I sit and pretend to watch the card game. Naruto needs back up. He's bound to get into trouble. It's what he does!

Knock! Knock!

I jump up and barely hold back from running to the door. When I open the door, Naruto walks in. Kakashi puts down his cards. "I'm assuming you're still there?"

NarutoClone nods. "Yeah, the real me stayed behind."

"So what's going on?" Sakura asks.

"I got in pretty well and finding the owner was easy enough..." Here the blond clone looks embarrassed. My eyes narrow as I watch him. He's hiding something. "After some talking, he hired me."

"So when are you coming back?" I ask, not liking talking to a fake Naruto.

"I'm spending the night tonight in a spare room in the back, but tomorrow I'll come by when I have more information."

"Naruto, you can't stay the night there. You'll mess it up somehow," I say bitterly.

The clone gets in my face and challenges me, but I just sigh. It's not the same as the real Naruto. The Orange Blossom is too faint. I pull out a kunai and stab the clone in the stomach. He curses and poofs away. Sakura gasps. "Sasuke? Are you okay? What was that for?"

I ignore her and put the kunai up. "I'm going to need some new clothes for when I go in The Neon Sun tomorrow night."

Sakura nods. "S-sure. I'll get some in the morning."
