Chapter 31

Using as much water bending as he could, Percy launched himself, along with Suki and the other Kyoshi warriors up into an airship that hadn't been destroyed. It was no problem taking down the crew and gaining control of the ship in a matter of minutes.

Percy hadn't realized just how skilled these girls were until he watched less than a dozen of them take down all these crazy powerful fire benders with ease and grace. They reminded him of the Hunters back home, only more makeup and possibly more attitude.

Suki put him in charge of steering the ship while she went up to the top to see if she could spot Sokka and Toph in the mess of raining fire and exploding ships.

Percy felt nervous, staring at all the complicated gears and leavers before gripping the giant steering wheel and gritting his teeth. If this is what it would take to help his friends, he would do it.

Suddenly, off in the distance, he spotted Toph.

It wasn't good.

She was dangling off of a small platform, hair and clothes whipping around viciously in the wind. She was hanging onto to Sokka by the finger tips and he didn't seem to be doing much better.

Watching with horror as fire benders trooped out to shoot them down, Percy watched Sokka use one arm to throw his boomerang and sword to either side to knock both of them out. He watched Sokka's face, contorted in pain, say something to Toph, who only nodded and blinked away a couple tears.

"Hold on!" He screamed at no one in particular. Using everything in his power to help, he steered the airship just under Toph's dangling body. There was a huge crash and the whole metal ship creaked and groaned.

Sokka and Toph had disappeared from sight but he prayed to every god he knew that they had landed on top of the ship and Suki had pulled them somewhere safe.

He pulled the airship around again, in the distance, he could see Aang and Fire Lord Ozai fighting it out in a spectacular display of power and bending.

Aang had come back, just like Percy had known he would, more powerful then ever before. Water, earth, fire and air, all working together to abolish Ozai's rein.

The door behind Percy burst open and Sokka, Suki and Toph all tumbled in.

"You guys made it!" Percy yelled happily and, abandoning his steering wheel, ran to them.

Sokka stopped him with a hand on his bare chest. "Uh, what is that all over you?"

Percy looked down. "Oh, yeah... It's just monster guts."

"Ew..." Sokka took his hand off Percy's chest and wiped it off on his pants.

"Sweetness." Toph nodded approvingly.

"I'm just glad you guys are alive." Percy bent down and picked Toph up to hug her. "I was really worried there for a second." He could feel Toph's heart still racing against his chest, but she only laughed breathlessly. "That was nothing. Team Toph and Sokka had everything under control."

Percy put her down and ruffled her hair. "I know you did."

"Are there any other warships left?" Sokka asked. He had limped across the control room and was staring out of the front window. "Whoa... Aang is... Uh, I don't even know what he's doing."

They all followed and looked out, barely able to make anything out from the distance. But it looked like Aang was wining.

"Is... is he glowing?" Percy asked in disbelief. This world honestly shouldn't surprise him anymore, but it always found something he was unprepared for.

"I don't believe it. He's in the Avatar State!" Sokka cheered. "He did it! We're going to win! We have to get over there."

He gripped the steering wheel and spun it around, throwing Percy, Toph and Suki to the side.

"Whoa.. ah!" Percy lifted a hand to cover his eyes.

The world seemed to have stopped and split into the sides. Blue and red. It was blinding and burning.

"What is that? What's going on?" Toph demanded. "I can feel it on my face. Did something catch fire?"

"No..." Sokka squinted. "I think that's Aang..." He shielded his eyes against the light.

Percy looked on, a sudden bad feeling in his stomach as the blue light started disappearing. Blue was supposed to be the good light. It seemed to represent all the positive dreams he had had before about Aang. Plus, blue in general reminded him of good memories if his mom. The fact that it wasn't stablt worried him and he realized that, although it had been Aang's destiny to fight the Fire Lord, his friends should have been closer. He shouldn't have had to do that alone. "We have to hurry, let's go help Aang. He needs us."

Sorry it's so short! I've been feeling bleh.

But now that I've written this little bit, I'll hopefully be able to get back in my groove.

I just rewatched the first season of Legend of Korra and I really really like it. I feel like they just kind of wrecked a lot of the characters after the first season? I don't really remember the last season very well, but I just remember being sad because I didn't really like Mako or Bolin or Tenzin anymore... I don't want that to happen again so I think I'm gunna stop after season 1 lol

My mom and I were talking, and I said I would LOVE to see an Earth Kingdom Avatar... But like, back. Before Aang (even before Kyoshi, since we already kind of know her "big conflict" story).

Or maybe a show in that universe but not about the Avatar. Like, a story like Zuko's mom or Uncle Iroh or something about the Air Nomads before the Air genocide... Aaah, I just love that universe so much and want to see more of it! I know it probably won't happen, but that's why we have fanfiction, right? lol

See ya next time, my friends.
