"Whatever we want...It'll have to come second..."

The Beowulf was rather docile, as far as Grimm went anyways. While most Grimm spent a great deal of their time usually causing random mayhem or hunting, this one didn't.

The beast slumped on over towards the remains of the complex, it's claws stifling through the wreckage and tossing aside the debris. Searching for something. Maybe a meal? Maybe a place to lay it's head, Ruben hadn't the faintest idea.

All he knew was it was searching for...something.

Lowering his weapon, he set the stock up against his head as he continued to keep his watch. Which started at around nine o'clock and was suppose to be ending some time after midnight.

Ruben let out a soft yawn, squinting his eyes as he rested his temple against the stock of his gun. Feeling the cold steel's sting before it relaxed him. The smooth steel was comforting, almost.

"Hey..." Yin mumbled, unfolding his arms behind his head and resting them on his chest. Eyes fixated on the ceiling as he shrugged his shoulders. It had been a sleepless night for him. Not because of his thoughts of Glynda, however. "You guys up?"

The thought of being a Huntsman filled Yin's beings. It motivated him. Drove him. It excited him. But...it wasn't really for helping others. It was for purely one reason only. Finding out what happened to his mother. Was it a hunt gone bad? Was she kidnapped by some hybrid robot Grimm? Would he find her as a Huntsman or a simple Nomad? A wanderer who's drive was probably either in a ditch or on the other side of the world.

"No, I'm still sleeping, shut up." Winter mumbled, rolling over onto his side. Away from Yin. He needed his rest. Dealing with the idea that Oobleck popped into his head was bad enough. Then there was the undesired thought that he should simply retire the desire to be a Huntsman and become a CEO. Like his father.

"It's just..." Yin let out a sigh. He stared up at Oobleck, who's passed. On the rafters above them. Hands in his coat's pockets as he snored softly to himself. Unlike his shadows, he slept pleasantly enough. Given the conditions. "What was he getting at?"

"What? With the questions?" Blair asked, patting his stomach as he cracked his neck. "Maybe just curious? Can't be the first time someone asked you why you wanted to be a Huntsman."

The idea of 'ends justify means' was the fallback on all excessive White Fang missions. Greater good over present unpleasantness. However, to apply that to a diffident world entirely? Blair could still feel how effortless it was to simply draw his arm and open fire at Roman. How easy it was. How...natural it felt. It terrified him that cold murder would have been somehow justifiable. For the Greater...Good...

"Maybe." Yin rotated his head, eyes fixated on the ceiling above him. Patting his stomach. "It's just...I wanted to be a Huntsman...to not really save people. I became a Hunter to just...help myself. Ya know?"

"So have I." Blair groaned, letting out a bout of air through his nose. He felt his chest gain this immense weight. This almost soul crushing amount of weight. As if an anchor was resting on his sternum. "I became a Hunter to simply wash myself clean. Not really for any honor...or glory. Just do some good in hopes that it would reprimand the sins I've committed."

"At least you have a motivation." Winter grumbled, glancing over his shoulder. He turned his gaze from Yin to Blair. "You aren't the heir to a throne." Winter sat up, resting his arms atop his knee. Rubbing his smoothing chin with his thumb. "I am here...because I simply want to be here." He shrugged. "No...real motivation. Just because I could and because I wanted it."

"Regardless," Blair mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. "We are here not for the greater good. Not for the people. We are here for ourselves."

"Only 75% of us, however." Yin smirked, turning his attention towards Ruben. His eyes watching over the area with the attention of a preying hawk. Weapon in hand, and hands ready/eager for some action. "He's here because of the greater good."

"The most bloodthirsty of all of us?" Winter remarked, with a chuckle and soft smile. "We should all take a lesson in his thought process. Kill the guilty, save the innocent. Profit."

"He would tell me. 'I want to give people the happiness that the evil took away from them. I want to be able to give people those story book happy endings.'" Yin let out a soft laugh, eyes softening greatly. "Boy's a real hero."

"Look," Blair grumbled, staring into the ceiling. Curling his hands into fists. "No matter what. It's the innocent before our own goals. We have to remember that. Always them first. They need to be taken care of, always."

"Definitely."
"Right, of course."

There wasn't much said except a few good nights and a couple of yawns before they returned to their sleep. Their dreamless, restless sleep.

Ruben followed Zwei's trail, the darn mutt was off sniffing about and found himself away from the camp. Ruben's yawns were soft as he traversed through the streets, a hand on his weapon's handle as he navigated through the rubble and crumbed bits.

That Beowolf was still active, last time he checked. It was prowling about, and looked dangerous enough on it's own. Last thing he needed was to get into a fight at only twenty five percent battery.

Ruben walked down the stairs, pressing his body up against the door frame. He peered out, barely looking past the decaying wood.

There was the dog, sitting besides the building, ears flat against his skull and his teeth barring. Ruben approached him carefully, guessing either a mouse or a Beowolf was in his hound's sight.

"What are you-" That's when he saw the two White Fang members patrolling down the street. Ruben grabbed up his dog, patting him on the head as he stared into his eyes. Ruben narrowed his own as he pressed his nose against Zwei's.

"Return. To. Yin." Ruben ordered, before sending the dog on it's way. Zwei took off in a flash, leaving Ruben with the White Fang members. Ruben turned towards the two, weapon drawn as he focused his sights on some cover on the other side of the street.

He could easily handle the two members without raising alarm. Just knock one out and take the other prisoner. A few hours with either Blair or Yin and they would find the hidden base in no time. It would be that simple.

Without much worry, he ran across the street with great haste.

Two things happened when Ruben ran. Two things Ruben didn't account for.

One. The middle of the street caved in as soon as Ruben's foot made contact. The street must've been unbelievably weak if it caved under so little pressure.

Two. He dropped his weapon as he descended into the darkness. His only scythe was laying atop the street as he fell. Leaving him with an offense.

The dark city scape was almost as if he was dropped into a different world. One that was so much like, yet so unlike, the one he knew. One that was cloaked in a shade of darkness and unsettling look. As if the world above was bombed to kingdom come.

It wasn't a pleasant thought. To see a world where the darkness truly won. Where all the good was burned away by the overwhelming embrace of the dark.

He caught a glimpse of a familiar mask before his skull met the concrete below. From the looks of it, it was just as surprised as he was.

Expectedly, he was knocked out cold as soon as he made contact. Something Ruben berated himself for as he felt his vision cut to black.

Yin awoke with a yawn and stretching of the arms. He first noticed a pair of bright lights shining directly into his eyes. Followed by a pair of white teeth.

"Gather your weapons." Oobleck spoke, pulling on the straps of his backpack. "I fear your leader might be in trouble."

This woke Yin up more than Zwei's morning kisses.

The four man group, along with Zwei, gathered around the hole in the middle of the street. WBY stared into the darkness of the abyss, hands on their knees as they peered through.

"What is this exactly?" Winter asked, glancing over at Oobleck. His hand resting on the handle of his revolver as Oobleck smirked.

"Mountain Glenn! Yes, an expansion of Vale that was inevitably destroyed by creatures of Grimm! Previously home to thousands of people! Working people commuting to the city, the main city! Developed a subway system to the inner city! Grimm attacks increased! Population in danger, now desperately searching for shelter! City evacuates into the metro tunnels and what do they find? The southeast quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!" Oobleck paced around the hole, finger in the air as he explained. He let out a soft chuckle as he spun on his heel. This is what he lived for.

"Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time, thanks to an aggressive perimeter defense, and unique transportation. The city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens safely from the new territory into the main Kingdom! Sadly, without the many natural barriers Vale had to protect its borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start! As the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival. They took up shelter beneath the city! In massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface!"

"Meaning?" Blair mumbled, squinting his eyes. He could plainly see the city below, but no sign of anyone moving about. If only he could get a closer look.

"Of course. I simply am suggesting at we-" Oobleck turned around, his jaw dropping at the sight of Yin. Oobleck has seen many things in his days. Only a few things were on par with the look in Yin's eyes.

That cold, almost void of reason, stare. The kind of stare that the Grimm were famous for. The look that whoever made eye contact was prey to them. Not a living, breathing being. But simply cannon fodder.

Yin's cuffs contorted and transformed into his typical gauntlets, his wrist guards slowly extending to his forearms.

Yin's golden eyes were slowly bleeding out. For not even as second, but to Blair and Winter, it felt like an eternity. They saw just black in his eyes. Then the purple bled in.

His cuffs didn't just end at his wrists like usual. Oh no.

His hands were, as usual, fully armored, the indents in his knuckles and the digits of his hands were encapsulated in that divine metal. the forearms a blistering shining gold as he layered armor ran up to his biceps and arms, over onto his shoulders.

The golden pieces began to align and connect across Yin's broad chest. The sun colored metal was glowing, pulsating almost, as Yin cracked his neck.

The metals beginning to form around his thick neck, the ends of it stopping just under his chin and behind his ears.

His eyes a vibrating purple as he glanced over at Oobleck. Those lips of his not cracking his famous grin. Or sly smirk.

It was a scowl. That always aggressive scowl his younger brother always wore.

"We go in. We get him back." Not a moment later, his helmet was formed. The three eye slits were glowing a somber violet as the armor clanked together. The visor was a simple, resembling the bow of mighty ship. The cheeks were smooth and shone in the light.

Yin slammed his knuckles together, before bending his knees slightly.

Yin jumped into the depths, mind set on one thing and one thing only.

Save Ruben. And destroy anyone who gets in his way.
