Chapter 14
Riding Duel, Acceleration!
Students were watching a duel between Alden and a Slifer Red as the poor guy was staring down the barrels of three Machina Fortress's aimed right at him as the explosion took place, reducing the Red's Life Points to zero. "It's unfortunate that you let your opponent build up his offense. That there is a lesson in all dueling: You give your opponent the slightest chance to come back, and they won't repay your kindness. In a game like Duel Monsters, there's no such thing as mercy, as a lot of the other teachers like to tell." He told his class as his visor retracted. Some of the students clapped for the duel as the Slifer Red bowed to the teacher. "Thank you for the duel, sir!" He told the Obelisk Blue teacher.
"You're very welcome, you had your chance at defeating me, but you just slipped up a little. I'm always ready for another duel after class. Now, let's see...We have time for one more duel." Alden said outloud as he looked among his students. Some of them began to lower into their seats, almost afraid to duel. He centered in on Nick, who was still looking to the Duel Field with his visor on. "I still see you're prepared to duel, Nick. Care to take me on until the bell rings?" Alden asked the Obelisk Blue. He seemed a little surprised as he shook his head. "Sorry Teach, I didn't bring my Deck with me, I didn't think I was going to duel." He answered. Some of the students started to whisper a bit as the bell already rang for class, the Obelisk Blue teacher looking up at the clock. "Whoops, I misjudged the time. All right, before everyone leaves, I do have an announcement. The moment for you Turbo Duelists is finally here, at the Central Stadium, the Turbo Duel Simulators have arrived. Now, they're still being tested, but they're ready for student testing, and two Duelists will be able to face each other. Summer will explain the rest of the details." Alden announced.
As he did, the students almost bolted out of the classroom, as most of them wanted to check out the new Duel Runners, Mikee being among some of the rushers. The Central Stadium doors burst open as Summer seemed surprised. Isaac was there alongside, watching them all come in. "Everyone, calm down, one at a time!" Sumer pleaded with the excited students, all of them beginning to settle down at the presence of Isaac. He just had a smile on his face as the students were taking in the scene. In the center of the room were in fact, two Duel Runners, but they seemed to be nailed to the ground, and attached to helmets. Lowered from the ceiling was two giant screens, which were blank. "Welcome, everyone. Please, take your seats, the Simulators are ready for their first test." Isaac told everyone as he looked towards the Ra Yellow teacher. She smiled and nodded.
"We will be using a random selector to decide the two lucky duelists who will be testing the Duel Runners. As you all know, Ridng Duels are among the top popular dueling styles. Both duelists ride their machine through a track, racing the other until one crosses the finish line, or the duelist runs out of Life Points. In the past, duelists would use a special Spell card called Speed Spells, which worked in conjunction with the Field Spell that remained constant: Speed World 2, but that function has been removed in most Riding Duels. There are some places which still use Speed Spells, but our format does not require them. This meaning, Field Spells still can be used, and the course will change to the setting of the Field Spell, leaving some interesting surprises. Now, with the explaination out of the way, let's get to the duel!" Summer declared as the screens started shuffling the faces of all the students currently in the room. Everyone in the room looked up at the screens as the faces were slowing down. The first face finally stopped as it revealed to be Mikee. There was a victory shout from the back of the group as Mikee moved past the group. The next picture stopped as there were several hushed gasps. Mikee didn't have a chance to look as he was already with the teachers, but he noticed the person he was fighting against. The green-eyed duelist looked right to him with almost cold eyes. "Mikee VS Lily! Both of you, to the Duel Runners, please." Summer asked them, almost not noticing the whispers in the crowd. "It's the Synchro Assassin, he's done for." "Dude, one of Danielle's members is dueling, I don't want to be that guy." "Is that the Synchron kid? Jesus, he's going to get wrecked." Tigara was among the back of the sitting crowd as her eyes caught Danielle in the back.
"Mikee, I have the chance to test your strength. I want you to show me what you've got." Lily told him. Instead of being intimidated, Mikee extended his hand. "Yeah, me too, let's give it our all." She looked at the hand for a second as the crowd seemed surprised, but she took it and shook. They both got on the Duel Runners and placed the helmet on. It was a somewhat snug fit as the blue visor in front of Mikee glowed. The Duel Runner they were on had their own Duel Disks as it opened up. Both Lily and Mikee took their Decks and placed them in as the cards were being shuffled at a fast rate. It was then that the field in front of them started to materialize into a normal racing field. The students still sat on bleachers, but on the giant screens was the race track itself, which was a basic loop. Both Duelists looked to each other as the runners started up.

"Duel!" They both declared as the runners started up, going forward on the track. Mikee seemed to be having an easy time with his, speeding forward as they were turning the corner, but Lily seemed to have the advantage as the black-haired duelist turned the corner and sped in front of him, taking the lead and the first turn. "Draw." Lily said, Mikee hearing it over his helmet. She looked at her hand as Mikee was on her tail. "I summon Karakuri Ninja Kuick in Attack Mode." She declared as her ninja machine appeared on the field running alongside her Duel Runner. (1700/1500) She ended her turn as it was Mikee's turn. "All right then, I'll show you everything I've got! Draw!" Mikee declared as he drew his card. He raised an eyebrow for a moment as he looked to her monster, which the Attack points appeared next to it. "Let's do this, time to show off a new monster! By sending Level Eater to the graveyard, I'm able to Special Summon Quickdraw Synchron!" Mikee declared as his Synchron monster appeared, flying by his side. (700/1400) Lily didn't look behind her as they were about to round the corner. "Then, I activate Level Eater's effect! I can lower the level of a Level 5 or lower monster on my field by one, and then Special Summon it to my field! I lower Quickdraw Synchron's Level by 1 and Special Summon Level Eater!" Mikee called forth as a star emerged from Quickdraw Synchron and landed right on Mikee's Duel Runner. (Level Eater is a Level 1 DARK Insect monster with 600 ATK and 0 DEF.) He rose his hand in the air as Quickdraw Synchron and Level Eater flew in front of him. "I tune my Level 4 Quickdraw Synchron with my Level 1 Level Eater! Accelerating beyond the speed of sound, propel yourself straight to victory! Synchro Summon!" Mikee called forth as the light shone alongside the highway. It disappeared as a black jet flew downward, transforming into a warrior. "Jet Warrior!" Mikee called out. (Jet Warrior is a Level 5 FIRE Warrior monster with 2100 ATK and 1200 DEF.) It aimed its palm towards Kuick as a cyclone fired from it and took it out, the card appearing in Lily's hand. "Jet Warrior's effect activates! When this card is Synchro Summoned, I can return one card on my opponent's field to their hand! And now for the attack! Go, Jet Warrior, attack Lily directly!" Mikee called out as his monster flew forward and struck Lily. (Lily: 5900 LP) Mikee sped forward due to the change in Life Points as he was in the lead, turning the next corner. "Before I end my turn, I summon Turbo Synchron to my field!" Mikee called forth his familiar green race machine as it struck a pose. "And by lowering Jet Warrior's Level to 4, I can Special Summon Level Eater!" Mikee called forth the small insect once again as they sped in front of him. "I tune my Level 1 Turbo Synchron with my Level 1 Level Eater. Racing forward into the future, lead others into evolution! Synchro Summon! Formula Synchron!" Mikee called forth as his signature Synchro Tuner came forth in Defense Mode. (200/1400) "Thanks to Formula Synchron, I can draw a card when it's Synchro Summoned! With that, I place two face-downs and end my turn." Mikee ended his turn with two face-downs.
"Draw." Lily declared, almost with no reaction to Mikee's cards as she looked at her hand. The Obelisk Blue closed her eyes for a moment as she selected one of her cards. "I summon Karakuri Komachi Ninishi." She called forth the kimono wearing machine in Attack position as it was flying alongside her. (0/1900) "With her effect, I can Normal Summon another Karakuri monster to my field." She followed up its summon with Kuick again, both of them by Lily's side. Ninishi shone into the Synchro Rings as Kuick leaped into the center. "I tune Level 3 Ninishi with Level 4 Kuick. Synchro Summon Karakuri Shogun Buriel." She declared as the Samurai-like machine came from the sky and crashed on the field, racing alongside her. (2600/1900 "I activate my Trap Card! Breakthrough Skill! This card negates your machine's effect!" Mikee called out as his Trap Card flipped up and fired off a lightning bolt, paralyzing her machine for a moment. Lily was silent as Mikee looked to her. "I know about your Karakuri's. I've heard of your duel with Marth, and I'm not letting it happen to me." Mikee confidently told her. She smiled a bit as she activated a Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying his Mirror Force. "It's going to take more than that to take me down. I activate De-Synchro." She declared as a blue light took over her Buriel. "De-Synchro allows me to return a Synchro monster to my Deck. Then I can re-summon Kuick and Ninishi." She called forth her two monsters again as they went back to performing a Synchro Summon. Buick came back out, raring to fight as it faced towards Mikee's monsters. "When Buick is successfully Synchro Summoned, I can Special Summon a Karakuri monster from my Deck. I Special Summon Karakuri Strategist, Nishipachi." Lily called forth an old looking monster as it appeared on the field in Attack Mode. (500/1600) "I activate Nishipachi's effect. With this, your Formula Synchron changes to Attack Mode." She explained as Formula Synchron switched over to Attack Mode, leaving Mikee wide open. "I activate my next card, Instant Fusion. By paying a thousand Life Points, I can Special Summon a Level 5 or lower Fusion monster from my Extra Deck. This monster cannot attack and it's destroyed during the End Phase." Lily explained as her Life Points dropped down to 4900 as a giant cup appeared next to Lily. It burst open as a green dinosaur with mechanical enhancements appeared on the field. "I Special Summon Cyber Saurus." (Cyber Saurus is a Level 5 EARTH Fusion Machine monster with 1800 ATK and 1400 DEF.) Her Nishipachi shone into Synchro rings once again as her Cyber Saurus flew into them. "I tune my Level 3 Nishipachi with my Level 5 Cyber Saurus. Synchro Summon, Karakuri Steel Shogun Bureido." She declared as another bigger samurai-like machine hit the field. (2800/1700) "Similar to my Burei, Bureido can Special Summon another Karakuri to my field. I call forth Karakuri Ninja Nanashick." Lily continued her move as a ninja-like Karakuri monster appeared instantly, running alongside the huge monsters. The last card in her hand was used as it appeared on the field. "I activate Emergency Teleport. With this, I can Special Summon a Level 3 or lower Psychic type monster to my field. I Special Summon Psychic Commander." She called forth one more monster, but it left immediately as it shone into Synchro rings once again, her ninja leaping into it as the Level 3 Tuner and Level 5 monster Synchro Summoned another Bureido. It Special Summoned another Kuick, but this one was in Defense Mode. "I activate Burei's ability. I can change the battle position of any monster on the field. I use its effect to switch Kuick to Attack mode. With this, my Bureido activate. If the battle position of a Karakuri monster is changed, I can draw a card. Since there are two, I draw two cards." Lily told him and drew her two cards. They were rounding the next corner as Lily began to speed forward, catching up to Mikee.
"Kuick attacks Formula Synchron." Lily commanded as her monster rushed out and slashed into Formula Synchron, destroying it. (Mikee: 6500 LP) He began to slow down as the lights formed into Ninishi. "When Kuick destroys a monster, it can Special Summon any Level 4 or lower Karakuri monster from my Graveyard. Next, Burei attacks Jet Warrior." She followed up with another strike as Mikee's Life Points dropped lower to 6000 LP as he was getting slower, his Duel Runner shaking a bit from the attack impacts. Her two huge Synchro monsters came in for the attack, dramatically slowing him down as Lily sped forward, taking the huge lead. (Mikee: 400 LP.)
The crowd watching gasped as he was barely holding on in the duel, Rika showing the most concern as she looked on. Tigara looked over to Danielle as she was smiling, knowing this duel was in the bag. The female duelist on the Duel Runner Synchro Summoned a second Burei as its effect brought out a second Nanashick. It was the end of her turn as Mikee seemed to hesitate a bit on his draw. He looked ahead at the four Synchro monsters staring him down. Is this real? I know she's one of Danielle's members...but this is like when I dueled Derrick. I need Shooting Star Dragon, but...how am I going to pull it off? This next card...decides it. Mikee thought to himself, putting his fingers on the top card. "My...turn!" Mikee called out as he drew his card. He looked and closed his eyes.
"If I'm going down, I'm going down swinging. I summon Junk Synchron!" Mikee called forth his trump card as it appeared, bringing back his Level Eater. "Thanks to me Special Summoning a Level 4 or lower monster, I can freely Special Summon T.G Warwolf to my field! And with that, I tune my Level 3 Junk Synchron with my Level 3 Warwolf and Level 1 Level Eater! With your almighty axe, cut past the walls and emerge victorious! Synchro Summon! Junk Beserker!" Mikee called forth his red-armored brute as it flew beside him. "I activate Junk Beserker's effect! By banishing a Junk monster from my Graveyard, I can reduce the Attack of one of your monsters by the banished monster's Attack points! I banish Junk Synchron! Now, your Burei loses 1300 ATK!" Mikee declared as a red light shot forward from Junk Beserker, weakening her machine. (1300 ATK.) He pointed right at her weakened monster. "Junk Beserker, attack Lily's Burei!" Mikee declared as his monster rushed forward with incredible speed, cleaving through her machine as Lily shook it off. (Lily: 3500 LP) He ended his turn as Lily drew her card. He didn't hear her send the command as both her Bureidos rushed in and cut through his Beserker, reducing his Life Points to 0.

The simulations turned off as students clapped to the both of them, Lily taking off the helmet and shaking her head to get her ponytail straight. Mikee took off his helmet as he stared at his Deck. It was a split second as he noticed Lily looking right at him with her cold green eyes. "Thank you for the duel. You've showed me your potential. If you wish to challenge me again, let Rika know." She told him with a nod and left with Danielle's group, except for Rika. She remained behind to be with him. As Summer was wrapping up the lesson about Riding Duels, Isaac watched her group leave the stadium, looking concerned. "It was rather close, but that's Lily for you. They're just the toughest of the tough." The students were murmuring to themselves as Summer dismissed the class. Tigara looked over to her close friend as he took his Deck out of the Duel Runner, looking right at it. "Mikee, you okay?" Rika asked.
At the Abandoned Mansion, Danielle was laughing to herself with Lily and Nick in the Dining Room, enjoying a cup of her tea. "That was simply marvelous, Lily. You've done well against the Ra Yellow." Danielle congradulated. Lily nodded as she was standing. "Thank you, Lady Danielle. Although, my performance wasn't the greatest, I've received damage." Lily told her.
"It just goes to show that you can't underestimate duelists like him. He put up a decent fight for you at least." Nick told her.
"It's an error that will be corrected for next time. I have the upmost faith in you both. Now, here are some booster packs from my father." Danielle told them and took them out from underneath the table she was sitting at, as it was a small handful of the latest packs. "He sees just as much as you do, Nick, and wants to thank you for your work." She told them as both Obelisk Blue duelists picked them up. Lily and Nick both put the new boosters in their pockets. "Thank you, Danielle. I will see if any of the new cards prove useful for the Karakuri's." Lily thanked.
Just as she did thank, there was a loud CRASH sound in the front of the Abandoned Dorm as a voice called out, "Danielle! I demand to see you now!" Nick and Lily were out first as from the doorway was a familiar blue-haired male. Danielle came around the corner, her eyes a bit widened. "Cryo, to what do I owe the pleasure of you barging into my area?" Danielle asked.
"I've come here to put your dueling group to a stop. Your group has been nothing but a burden to the entire school, your views corrupting the Slifer Reds and Ra Yellows into thinking your group is undefeatable, invincible." Cryo told her as his Duel Disk activated, "And I'm going to prove myself that anyone can defeat high and mighty people like you. Duel me, Danielle." Cryo demanded. Lily was about to step forward, but Nick blocked her. "Wait, Lily. Allow me to duel him." Nick asked.
"Nick...very well, Cryo. What do you say we have a wager?" Danielle asked.
"A wager? I came here to duel you, not place bets." He told her.
"If you can defeat Nick, then I will disband my group, and we won't go about Surreal Dueling everyone." She told him, in which Lily looked to her with worry. "Lady Danielle, isn't that going-"
"BUT." She said, interrupting her friend, "If you were to lose, you will join my team instead. I've needed a replacement for Derrick for quite some time, but you, you're the perfect replacement. A Duelist who was knocked down from his crown by some girl, not even acknowledged by his peers, you're the perfect replacement. What do you say?" Danielle asked as Nick activated his Duel Disk without a word, ready to accept the challenge.
"Very well, if it means putting an end to your group, I accept your terms." Cryo accepted.

"DUEL!" They both declared.
