Chapter 11: Taking Over
Abandoned Warehouse…...
"I surrender. Please let her go!" Gin's voice rang out over the battle and the dogs stopped what they were doing to watch the two leaders.
"Let her go?" Hougen shook his head in mock disbelief. "I'm not softhearted like you. However, you have chosen well, throwing away your life to save a girl you hardly know. That is ridiculous in my opinion." He looked at his subordinates with glee. "He won't resist. He is the leader of Ohu, the ruler with justice! Hahahaha!"
"What an arrogant, foul-mouthed piece of shit..." John muttered under his breath, glaring at the Great Dane.
"Did you say something you old fart? Speak up!" Hougen ordered.
"I said you are a piece of shit and that you should be ashamed of yourself!" John spoke confidently.
"Hougen, stop talking nonsense and just go home. With your attitude, no one would ever follow your leadership." Gin spoke calmly.
"Bah, you old farts are getting annoying. Perhaps the thought of dying and leaving this world in the hands of a new ruler are lost within your clouded minds. I don't give a damn of what you think Gin but what is true," Without warning, the Great Dane lunged forward and gripped Gin's snout like an iron grip. "is that you're pissing me off!" Gin let out a yelp as Hougen flipped him over onto his back.
"Gin!" John called out as he flew at Hougen himself.
"I told you not to move!" Hougen's hind leg stopped the German shepherd in his attack.
"Stop John. Don't make any wrong judgment." Gin stood back up and shook the snow off his fur coat.
"I have had enough of this petty word war. Finish this quickly." Hougen walked off as his army rushed the two leaders once more.
"Please just stop! Leave them alone!" Reika's screams were lost in the mass shouting.
"I won't resist!" Gin stood strongly as sets of steel teeth closed around his body, tearing his flesh apart bit by bit.
"If you think we are that easy to kill, why didn't you try before?!" John snarled. "I'd like to know if your rotten fangs can get through my bronze stomach!" Immediately, dogs were upon him and he inwardly growled to endure the pain.
"Idiots! You can't resist anything; your defeat is already set in stone. But of course, let's see how long you two can last. If you can't then you would be staining the reputation of being Ohu's heroes." Hougen released a loud laughter as the sound of flesh ripping and blood spilling onto the ground continued.
Meanwhile...
Akame reached his destination of Misizawa. Hitching rides from the local truck companies, he managed to get to Futago a little earlier than scheduled. Following the sound of water, he quenched his thirst eagerly.
I haven't been here in forever. He thought, taking a look around. Why isn't there anyone here to greet me though? The sound of paws reached his ears and he saw two shapes running across the snow. Both of the dogs stopped as they spotted him, their ears perked in alertness.
"This is the Utopia of Ohu." One of them, the Akita Inu pup spoke, almost challenging. "An intruder like you needs to leave immediately."
Isn't that...Gin? Akame looked confused but he realized that he might be in trouble if he didn't respond. "Wait, please let me rest. I'm old and tired." To prove his point, he sat in the snow panting heavily.
"Are you alright?"
"Weed, be careful, this might be a trick." This time the other dog spoke calmly, wrapping his tail around his paws to keep warm.
Weed?! Akame's mind clicked at the name as Weed turn to address his comrade. Weed...Weed...! Is he Gin's son?! Akame's body started trembling and tears started to flow out. Panicking, Weed got a little closure to him.
"What's wrong? Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Jerome let go of my tail." Jerome reluctantly let the tail go, keeping a close eye on Akame. Soon more dogs appeared as Weed's entire army rushed over to see what the matter was. Akame recognized a few familiar faces as he wiped away his tears.
"Weed, who are you talking to?" Alayus trotted up and looked at Akame for a few minutes. "Oh my! Is that you Uncle Akame?!"
"Child, you have grown so much." was his response.
"Uncle?" Weed gave her a look.
"That's right. Dad said he invited Uncle Akame to visit when my mother gave birth to me. I don't remember such a thing though." She chuckled.
"So does that make him my uncle as well?" Weed wagged his tail slightly at the thought.
"If that's Akame then the leaders were not shot to death by the humans?" GB asked.
"Shot? What do you mean shot?!" Akame asked, bewildered by the news. Soon Weed's army brought the leader up to date with the recent events. They even showed him Smith's grave at the foot of the structure. A batch of flowers laid across the mound as Akame paid his respects to his late friend.
"Weed, Alayus." He turned to the two, "We don't have any time to waste so I am going to say this once. Your fathers are waiting for you in the Southern Alps. I don't know how long they can last but we still have to try."
"Of course." Weed spoke and rallied the army together. Running across the border and kicking up blankets of snow, Weed and his army raced down south, eager to reach the leader in time and collect more allies. They left Akame to rest with one of Weed's friend, a golden retriever named Mel. Alayus was a little hesitant of leaving Akame behind but the leader promised to be right behind them once he recovered.
Southern Alps…...
Almost shrouded by a blistering snow storm, a worn out building stood lonely against the cold. Outside, a couple of guard dogs were stationed to keep an eye on the wounded leaders they just dragged back.
"Look at those pathetic bastards." One of the guards spoke to his buddy, making sure his arrogant voice could be heard. "The boss was too lenient, he should have killed them."
"Yeah." The other one piped up. "It would have ended painlessly."
"YOU." A raspy, almost broken voice called out to them; they crouched down and coward in fear. "Remember this. I am John. I promise you that once I get out, I'll rip your throats one by one."
