OMG THAT LAST CHAPTER WAS TOTAL GARBAGE I APOLOGIZE SOOOO MUCH.
I had a good idea, but it just all went to shit. It was a poor execution.
Anyway, lets just get on with this. Needless to say, whatever genre I thought up last chapter needless to say I suck at it.
After breakfeast the companions wished them good luck and they set out again. They made their way to the Whiterun stables where they would get a carriage to solitude.
Alrek was being strangely quiet ever since the morning. Even on the carriage ride, he wasn't messing with that dwarven puzzle cube he usually has in his hands during long carriage rides. He simply had a distraught look on his face. She couldn't help but worry.
"Alrek you okay?" He looked up and gave her a slight smile "Yeah...Just thinking that's all..." He responded. She knew that wasn't the case...But she also knew better than to pry into his personal life.
Soon they were in front the gates of Solitude, of course this isn't where they were going, they were going west. To the boat that would lead them to Castle Volkihar. They passed the Thalmor occupied fort, though it looked abandoned, and creepy. Heads of the former guards were shoved on wooden pikes, dried blood was everywhere on the walls and the ground. Bodies missing several appendages littered the ground. Whoever attacked this place did so with much joy.
"Huh, whoever did this did a good job" Alrek said behind her, he was close. When he breathed in his chest would barely touch her back. But that wasn't enough to distract her from his rather...peculiar tone.
She turned towards him, smiling wryly. "Indeed they did" She said, raising an eyebrow. He figured there was no use lying anymore. "I came back after you're father banished me and...Finished the job..." He grinned nervously. She shook her did and continued onward towards the boat.
They rowed in silence for some time before Alrek decided to break it. "So...Were you're parents always like this?" He asked, pulling back on the oars. Sending them foward. "Well...Not really...We were once mortals, just followers or Molag Bal...But we had performed rituals...One such ritual..." Serana stopped and shuddered, but she continued "Turned us into vampires...It was...degrading...Those who survived became vampires..." Degraded. Alrek didn't like the way she said it. He didn't have to guess what she meant by it. He didn't ask anymore. She gave him the short version for a reason. She shook her head and gave a reassuring smile. "What about you're parents? What were they like?" Serana asked. She knew it was a risky question.
Shockingly, he answered her "They were good people, I miss them" He didn't say anything else, he didn't WANT to say anything else. She decided not to push it further.
Soon they reached the isolated island that the castle resided on. Alrek got out and scanned the castle.
"What are you looking for?" Serana asked. Following his gaze. "Scouts...Guards...Archers" He said, not taking his gaze off the castle. She couldn't help but smile at his paranoia. "Oh relax, My father isn't paranoid, unlike you." She couldn't help but tease him. "It's not being paranoid...Its called being cautious..." He replied. He finally took his gaze off the castle and turned to look down at her. He couldn't help but stare at her golden eyes. They glowed in the darkness.
He shook his head, now wasn't the time "So...How do we get in?" He asked. Serana thought for a moment. "The previous owners of this castle had a little dock underneath the castle they used for transporting supplies. We had no use for it so it just kinda went unused. I'm sure none of the other vampires will be down there...Save for a couple draugr."
"Alright, then lets go, lead the way." Alrek said, letting her take the lead.
"you said Draugr right?" He asked her. She nodded "is this a problem?" She continued walking as Alrek followed "nope, it's just Draugr don't spray any blood" she chuckled slightly "you're awfully violent. Should i be afraid?" He was gonna answer her until an arrow caught him in the shoulder.
Serana turned around and shot an ice spike toward the orgin if the arrow, the Draugr fell to the ground with the spike stuck in its head. She turned to Alrek "you okay?" He nodded and pulled the arrow out "these things are as dull as a skeevers claw. Might as well be shooting sticks at me"
He unsheated that golden sword of his, Dawnbreaker he called it. She couldn't help but feel her skin tingle uncomfortably whenever it was near her. She could never figure out why.
She was snapped out of her thoughts as an arrow wizzed by her ear. She fired another ice spike towards the archer then started taking out Archers that were focused on Alrek, while he fought the ones on the ground.
The fight wasn't long. Alrek looted the bodys for gold and other items, they made their way insde where they were greeted by death hounds and more draugr. It was too easy.
After the fight she found Alrek standing over a dead body of a vampire in rags. He was reading a journal fragment.
"What is it?" She asked, approaching him and resting her hand on his shoulder, peering over it to read the paper in his hands "seems this Vampire here had plans to kill everyone up stairs with their own death hounds." He tossed the paper down onto the dead body
"Glad we put an end to that then" She let go of his shoulder and walked on ahead "come on, were almost there"
They came into a room filled with dead bodys, the stench was unbearable
"So this is where all that used cattle of yours went?" Alrek said, covering his nose. She nodded "just pull the lever and lets get out of here"
After pulling the lever and walking across the small bridge. They finally came to a door that seemed to lead outside.
Serana eagerly opened the door. Then froze in her tracks. "What is it?" Alrek came up behind her "our garden...its destroyed..."
Short, i know. Dump ending i know, bite me.
