Rather short chapter hope you forgive me
He didn't like Draugr, he encountered them more than anything else. They didn't bleed like other living beings. They were just empty shells of their former selves.
Of course that didn't stop him from killing them in a brutal fashion.
"How much longer? We have to be getting close by now." Alrek asked, yanking his sword out of a draugrs shoulder. Watching it fall to ground, letting out one last groan. as it fell to the ground.
"Don't worry were getting close. I can feel it" Serana said. As she walked ahead of him towards a large wooden double-door. He walked behind her as she went to go push it open.
He heard something behind the door and he grabbed Serana's hand.
"What?" She asked. He put his fingers to his lips as a sign to quiet down. "Their's someone in there." He put his ear closer to the door. He couldn't make out what they were saying. It wasn't a female voice so it couldn't be Serana's mother.
"I'm gonna open the door" He whispered "Ready?" She nodded "Yeah"
He kicked open the door where he was instantly attacked by a fire atronach, It's hand was already raised when he kicked open the door. It must've heard them. He threw a fireball at him and he quickly threw up a ward, blocking it successfully. He heard Serana fire one of her ice spikes at it. It caught it in the shoulder. It wound up another fireball, he went to go throw up another ward, but the atronach closed the distance between them surprisingly fast.
He kicked it back, making sure to hit it in one of it's solid parts rather than the fire part of it's body. He leaped towards it with his sword above his head ready to finish it off with a downward slash.
"WAIT!"
It wasn't Serana's voice, yet he still stopped. The atronach didn't do anything either, they both turned towards the source of the voice.
It was a young mage dressed in adept ropes with an adept hood. He jumped over the railing and landed clumsily and ran up towards them. He jumped in front of the atronach, shielding it. He was slightly smaller than Alrek, so he had to look up him.
Alrek lowered his sword and Serana walked up behind him. "Who are you?" Alrek asked, cautiously.
The mage straightened up. "I'm Elden. And this is Blaze." He gestured towards the flame atronach behind him. Serana and Alrek stared in disbelief. "You named an atronach? You know they don't last forever." Serana said.
"This one's different! I made her through a experiment!" He waved his hands in the air. The atronach floated beside him. "Indeed, my master went through many troubles to create me."
Now Alrek and Serana were extremely confused.
"Did...Did that thing just speak?" Alrek asked, pointing at it.
It's voice was smooth and sensual. Elden spoke up "Yeah, She's sentient...And she's a thrall, So she's here forever."
"How did you do that?" Serana asked. "Thats...Hard to explain" Elden answered.
"Were getting off topic, first of all why are you here?" Alrek asked, Elden looked at him. "I could ask the same of you. This place is abandoned."
The atronach got into a resting position as it floated in the air, crossing it's legs and watching them. "This is my mother's place. How did you even get in here, none of the draugr were dead"
"This is you're mother's place?! You're mother was on to something big here! Blaze do you still have the journal?" Elden said turning toward the atronach. She reached into her flaming "Hair" and pulled out a burnt book, she frowned.
"Er...Right...Thats okay I have it memorized" Elden turned back towards them. "You're mother was working on making a portal to the Soul Carin, that circle on the floor over there is a portal to the Soul Carin" This took Serana by surprised.
"The Soul Carin?" Alrek asked. Serana nodded and looked at him "The Soul Carin is where captured souls go. To put it simply." She turned back to Elden. "But don't avoid the question, how did you get in here?"
"I'm glad you asked" Elden ran over to a nearby wall by a single wooden door, he pulled out two, black pickaxes and walked back over to them. "Ta da!" He showed them the pick axes.
They simply stared at them. "You...Mined you're way here?" Alrek asked in a joking manner. Elden frowned. "Don't be silly, I used these to climb! By using enchantments, I was able to increase the strength so that the ebony pick axe heads wouldn't come off the handles!"
"That seems...Utterly stupid" Serana said. He threw the pickaxes behind him, where his atronach caught them and he pointed at Serana smiling. "But it worked!" He folded his arms proudly. Then frowned.
"Though, coming back to the project you're mother was working on, I have the right ingredients. But I'm missing the blood of a pure vampire. I tried normal vampire blood...But that didn't work." He shook his head. "Anyway...I've got all I need here, I'll be on my way. Is the way clear?" He asked.
"Just like that? You're gonna leave?" Alrek asked. Elden nodded. "Yeah, there's nothing else here for me, I already got the ingredients I needed. Plus I can see you guy's don't want me here." He gestured for his atronach and she floated over to him, leaving a flaming trail behind her. And with that they walked out the door.
Serana and Alrek could only watch with confusion...
"Well...He was a rather strange fellow" Serana said. Alrek nodded and sheathed his sword.
Serana walked over a weird circular engraving in the floor "So...This is a portal to the Soul Carin...Do you think my mother could be there?" She asked, looking back at him.
Alrek nodded. "That would make sense...It certainly would get her far away from you're father."
She walked up the stairs and towards a bowl. where some strange materials were already inside. "Guess he was trying to open a portal...But he said he needed pure vampire blood...I wonder..."
She looked at her wrist and then bit it, then she held it over the bowl and let it drip into it.
Room slightly shook and the circle opened up and stairs were formed, leading into a portal.
"Oh...Well that works..." She said. Alrek walked towards the top of the recently formed stairs. "I'll go first then." He walked down the stairs, where instantly started to feel weaker, his skin felt it was on fire, he quickly staggered back up the steps.
"You okay? That looked like it hurt?" Serana asked with concern. Alrek nodded "Yeah, what happened?"
"Hm I figured that would happen, Because the Soul Carin is a place for undead, it's trying to take you're soul as payment...I can enter easily because I'm a vampire...As for you..." Serana looked at him, he knew what she was going to suggest.
"No way, I'm not gonna become a vampire. There has to be another way." Alrek leaned against the railing, the glow from the portal illuminating the side of his face.
"I could partly soul trap you, but you'd be weaker..." She offered, revealing a black soul gem. Alrek thought for a moment.
"Yeah, that'll work..." Serana nodded. "Alright I'll try to make this as painless as possible." She placed her hand on his armor, where his heart would be, she held the soul gem in her other hand.
His soul began to drain, he already felt himself weaker, his breathing became shorter and his skin became pale. Once it was done he collapsed to the ground.
"You okay?" She asked, kneeling next to him and placing a hand on his back. Alrek nodded, slowly getting up.
"Yeah...You ready to go?" He turned towards Serana, who nodded.
Together they both went into the Soul Carin
It's shitty, I know. I was tired. But did you guys like my new OC? I made a mage character in skyrim through a new game and the idea just came to me. If you want to see more of him then I can start a different story focusing just on Elden and his atronach companion, Blaze. I'll put a poll up on my profile, deadline will be Tuesday night.
Anyway, I promise the next chapter will be better...
