I hate how my profile doesn't have a lot of activity. Like, literally no one has voted n the poll lol.
The Soul Carin was...Well...Barren, steps leading down from the portal formed a spiral. They walked down.
Even though he was partly soul trapped, he still felt the Soul Carin trying to steal away what was left of his soul. It felt there was a weight on his chest.
"You doing okay?" Serana asked, she bowed slightly so she could get see his hooded face. He turned and nodded. "Yeah...Thanks for asking..."
He took another look around "Where do you think you're mother would be?" He asked her. She took a look too then pointed towards a fortress "My bet is there...It's where I would go" He nodded and then they were on their way.
They walked in silence, the only noises being the wind and the painful groans of the damned souls. They approached an archway. Where a soul was yelling something else. He saw them approaching and quickly ran up to them.
"You there! Have you seen my Arvak?" Alrek raised his eyebrow "Arvak? Who's that?" The ghost kept glancing around, as he was looking for something. "Arvak! He's my horse! He doesn't deserve to be trapped here! Please you have to save him!"
"Calm down, how do I save him?" Alrek didn't get an answer before the soul ran off into the barren fields, yelling for his horse Arvak.
"Rather sad...Don't you think? Being stuck in here for the rest of you're life..."Serana said, watching the man run off. "Stuck here...Until you eventually lose you're mind..."
Alrek didn't give it much thought, he gestured for her to move on.
As they passed the archway, Alrek leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. Serana came up to him. "Are you sure you're okay?" She could tell he wasn't, she was just asking for his sake.
"Yeah...Let's just hurry up and find you're mother." He pushed himself off the wall and they continued onward, Alrek saw a skeleton horse run by them, he figured it must be Arvak.
Serana passed him some strange white funnels. He looked at them "What are these?" He asked. "Their called soul husk, they should help suppress the soulless effect." She turned to look at him and smiled "Eat them"
He did so and he instantly felt a bit better. Now, whenever they came across some he would go out of his way to collect them and eat them. They tasted like...Nothing...Serana asked about the taste but he couldn't describe it to her without saying "Nothing" five times.
They eventually reached the stairs leading up into the fortress. They walked up it, passing a soul along the way. It muttered to itself but paid them no mind.
Serana suddenly ran forward and placed her hands against what appeared to be a transparent barrier.
"Mother!" She called out, there was a figure that was partly hidden in the shadows. She turned around and came into what little light there was.
"Serana? Is that you?" The woman, who Alrek assumed was her mother, Said. Serana nodded happily, smiling. "Yes! It's me! We came all this way looking for yo-" Serana was cut off when Valerica spoke up in a rather harsh tone.
"What are you doing here!? Do you have any idea what would happen if you're father found you!?" Valerica glared at Serana, but not like a disappointed parent would, that would be to soft of a choice of words.
"Mother please I-" Serana was cut off again when Valerica turned to Alrek with a disgusted look. "And who is this...Mortal that you have brought with you."
Serana looked more panicked "He's a friend, but mother please you have to listen to me" Serana pleaded. Valerica ignored her and shook her head. "Do you have any idea what you have done!? Years of planning just wasted!"
She then glanced at Alrek "Not to mention you bought those who would see our kind dead with you" She turned to him "Well you've manipulated my daughter and found me. Do you intend to kill me? Or perhaps force me to watch as my own daughter is murdered by you're hands."
That was enough.
Alrek stepped forward and slammed his fist against the barrier, it seemed to crack slightly before it repaired itself. He glared at Valerica.
"Listen, I would never lay a finger on Serana, We went through Oblivion trying to find you." Alrek felt a hand on his arm as Serana gently pulled his clenched fist down from the barrier.
"Alrek...Please let me talk..." She said in a gentle tone. Alrek didn't want to, he wanted to keep going at her. But he decided it was probably best if Serana talked to her.
Serana stared at Valerica. "You know I always thought my dad was the worst...But it turns out you are!" This took Valerica by surprise.
Valerica went to go say something, But Serana didn't let her.
"You were so bent on seeing my father fail that would you use you're own daughter as a tool for his failure! I didn't ask to be locked away in that tomb for divines know how long! I just wanted a normal family!
Valerica was silent, staring at the ground thinking.
"Serana you're...Right...I had no idea...Will you accept my apologies?"
Serana nodded.
Alrek looked between the two smiling. "I hate to ruin the touching moment. But do you have the Elder Scroll." Valerica turned to look at Alrek and nodded. "And I would give it to you, if not for this barrier."
Alrek took a look at it "Well how do we bring it down?" Lighting cracked.
"There are three towers that control this barrier. Kill the wardens controlling them and it should free the poor souls powering it" Alrek nodded and turn to Serana.
"Ready to go?" Serana nodded and turned to her mother. "We'll be right back." Valerica smiled "I must warn you though, there is a dragon that patrols the soul carin. Once the barrier falls i suspect he will come to investigate" They both nodded and walked off.
They returned after a bit, with the barrier down Serana ran and hugged Valerica. Alrek couldn't help but smile.
Sadly the happen reunion was ruined by a might roar from the sky, Alrek looked up to see a dragon heading straight for the fortress.
"Valerica, go make sure the Elder Scroll is safe, Serana me and you are going to kill a dragon" Alrek said. Serana smiled and nodded "Getting to slay a dragon next to the dragonborn? What an honor" Alrek rolled his eyes.
The dragon landed infront of them and gave a bellowing roar.
I got extremely lazy towards the end here. Plus I haven't played Skyrim in a bit so I kinda lost some inspiraton.
