Adrian: I don't want to do this!
Rose: Adrian, just do it! It'll save us all time, time we don't have here in the maze.
Adrian: Little Dhampir, didn't know you cared so much about me.
Rose: Come on, Adrian, just do it!
Adrian: Fine! Ashley owns nothing!
Rose: Thank you Adrian!
Chapter 13
"Mason Ashford, he is alive." I looked at Dimitri. "I saw him, in another maze. He's alive. I don't think he remembers us at all. Then again I was only watching a monitor and it was only a few minutes."
Dimitri looks at me with a hard look. I didn't want to think about the possibility of Mason not remembering me. Tears started to fall, the images I had seen of Mason pained me. Flashes of him being killed and of me killing the Strigoi who killed him, and the images of him alive and in a different maze flew through my head.
I was pulled into his arms just before the sobs started to rack my body. About twenty minutes went by before I finally felt like a wet dish cloth that had been wrung out. When I pulled away from Dimitri, I noticed that his shirt had a rather impressive wet spot from me crying.
Half chuckling and half crying, I nodded at his shirt.
"I'm really sorry about that, by the way."
Dimitri shrugged, "I know how hard it is, I've been getting flashes of rescuing you from a house, there were two decapitated bodies on the floor. You were the scariest thing there. The way you were guarding his body scared me. You growled at your own mother when she tried to take you out of the house. The only person you would respond to was me."
Just as I was about to open my mouth to respond, there was a loud blare sounding throughout the Glade. Getting in touch with Lissa's feelings really quickly told me that it was Jesse Zelkos. The pain in the ass Royal Moroi was coming into the maze.
Growling and rubbing my face with my hand I started over to the Box, ready to great the unaware moroi. As I walked over, I noticed Gally walking beside me. Quickly giving him a lopsided grin we walked together to greet the box.
"Someone get me out of this thing!" I heard Jesse yelling.
"Calm down, Jesse! I'm getting you out of there ok. It's harder to do if you are yelling my ears off." I say quickly. "Dimitri, come over here and help me, it's Jesse this time."
Dimitri comes over and opens the door. I hop into the box and reach out my hand to Jesse.
"Rose?" I nod at him to confirm. As soon as I do that im engulfed in a bone crushing hug from him. "We all thought that you were dead. Mia, Ralf, even Christian Ozera did. Lissa seemed down but not nearly as depressed as she was when you left for Russia. It was hard to see her like that."
"Well, I'm not dead. Im very much alive and still causing as much trouble as I did in school." I respond with a chuckle. "See, even Guardian Belikov is here." I motioned to Dimitri.
Jesse looks a little nervous at the mention of Dimitri. Oh, well.
"Hey, I'm going for a run, gotta calm down after earlier." I said to both Dimitri and Jesse. "Jesse, I'll catch up to you after I get cleaned up, I run a good twenty-something miles."
He nods, and laughs. "Okay, Rose. Oh, hey, I'm sorry. For everything, all the stuff I did to you at school. The hell we all put you through."
I smile, "apology accepted. Just don't try it again or I will make your life a living hell."
He nods again. With that I start running around the Glade. After my twelfth lap, I felt someone keeping pace with me. Looking over I noticed the tan skin, Minho.
"Didn't figure you to be a recreational runner, Rose."
"Dimitri used to make me run laps at the Academy every time we had practice. He was my mentor. So now, thanks to him, I run when I get too upset to punch the living fuck out of something." I say with a sly smile.
Coming to a stop due to the overwhelming sense of fear coming from Lissa. I put my hand on Minho's shoulder to keep from falling over.
"Take me to Dimitri" I ground out.
Lissa was feeling really scared. She couldn't remember who she was or anything for that matter. Minho started guiding me to the Homestead where Dimitri was showing Jesse around. Upon seeing me clutching Minho for support and trying to walk, he took off towards up. A curious Jesse on his heels.
Eddie and Gally saw me and headed over to help as well. Just as they got there I got fully sucked into Lissa's head. The surprise and fear poured out of her.
She was in a box similar to the one I had woken up in. The only difference was the color, rather than the rusty color it was a faded green. Lissa was in a Maze!
